NOT Rachel Gibson’s best — NOT by a long shot. I have been waiting “with bells on” for this fresh book by Rachel Gibson. I typically LOVE her books. Her books usually hold me hooked from the first page to the last. Not this one. The characters are a small flat, especially Sean, the Hockey Hero. He sort of stumbles into character mode at the latest minute. This was a follow on book from an earlier book about the love story between the heroine’s parents. Now it’s her turn for a love story. This should have been an simple one to tie the psychology of the old story to the fresh love story. It could have been hysterically funny. I know Rachel can write hysterically funny stories. It is not. It’s choppy, the characters are flat, and the plot is very rushed. Even the sex scenes were boring!! BORING!!! No heat, no pizazz, no warm love between the characters. Wait until the price drops to $0.99, then MAYBE buy it?? Maybe??
(*Spoiler Alert*) In general I am a fan of Rachel Gibson and have read most of her novels, including all of the books featuring the Seattle Chinooks. This one was not the best of those. It was essentially a rewrite of Simply Irresistible (which I loved and have reread a LOT) with the main hero as John and Georgeanne's daughter, Lexie. While there were moments I laughed out loud and enjoyed Gibson's writing, I felt like the pacing throughout the novel was not consistent. Several moments felt very rushed, particularly the end (more on this in a minute). The characters were also not as well fleshed out as Gibson's typically are. The romantic character of this novel, Sean Knox, didn't have much depth, and Lexie was more like a caricature. The memo/outline theme was also too gimmicky for me. Finally, I really take problem with the ending of this novel: the lightbulb went off for Sean, and he runs off to claim his prize. While this is a beautiful typical ending for most books of this genre, this one felt very rushed and beautiful wonderful based on the earlier characterization of the hero. I also cringed over the corniness of the latest couple paragraphs.
I customarily can't wait to read Rachel Gibson's newest book. They usually are fun and clever and a page turner. This book misses the tag with an unsympathetic heroine and more ridiculous poor judgments than are believable. It is almost as if the book was thrown together at the latest min and where was her editor?
Although I've liked all of er books, her ice hockey series is by far the best of all the books Gibson has written. So imagine how satisfied I was to search that not only does our character play for the Chinooks, but the heroine's father was the character in my favorite hockey story! I still remember that earlier book as though I'd just read it yesterday. One of the things I remember so well is Alexi, the heroine of this story, saying to John Kowalsky, the Chinook's player in the earlier book, "Give me some sugar, Daddy!", when she wanted a kiss from him. Was thrilled to catch up with John and Georgie and search out how their lives have turned out. Back to this book. Lots of quirky situations and characters; and even two rescue dogs--one with only 3 legs. What's not to like when a story contains dogs that have been rescued by amazing people who love them and give them a amazing home? And by people who do the wrong things for the wrong reasons but are still people you come to love. Satisfied endings all around.
Lexie Kowalsky is all grown up and making us laugh out loud all over again. We first meet Lexi when she’s a small girl in Simply Irresistible but now that she’s an adult her life is one crazy roller coaster ride that you need to be on with an Knox is the newest player for the Chinooks. A Unbelievable player but also a cocky one at that and when your coach The Wall isn’t your largest fan you really need not to obtain on his poor side, small does he know that Lexi Kowalsky will come running into his life literally and that is when all mayhem ensues.Lexi & Sean meet under the craziest of circumstances but when the story snowballs you can’ support finding yourself getting caught up in their crazy and loving the ride it takes you is book will bring back memories of how GeorgeAnne and John met but with a fun twist. All I know is the min I saw page one I was hooked and didn’t look up again until I saw the words The End.
It is a cute story, and at times funny like all Rachel Gibson books are, but Sean is not your typical [email protected]#$% clever-mouthed Gibson hero. We either didn't obtain to know him or he just didn't have much personality. As for Lexie, I've read Simply Irresistible too a lot of times to count plus one, so it ripped me right out of the story every time she was referred to as Alexis or as having blonde hair when as a kid her full name was Alexandra and she had dark brown at said, Rachel Gibson books remain an auto-buy for me, and I would very much like to read Marie's story, especially if she gets a character with a personality.
I have to admit that I finished this book in one night that’s how much I enjoyed it! I was so excited to see that RG was not only continuing the Chinooks series but that Lexi was getting her own book!!! One of the things I love about RG books is that we not only meet fresh fun characters we obtain to visit our old favorites as well. I’ve read the Chinooks series multiple times and while this was not my absolute favorite it was still a amazing e characters could have been developed a small more or had more interactions, there did feel like there was a small something missing here. I do want we could have seen more interaction between John/Sean and Sean/the squad as that’s been a staple in previous books and I love getting to know everyone. There was a mention of some of our previous favorites: Sam, Ty, Rob, and Hugh which always gets me excited but it was just a mention, no dialog with them. A highlight of the book was Lexie’s relationship with the players, they’re protective yet still taking bets on if Lexi is going to create it down the aisle or not.I’m excited for the next book and hope it’s another Chinooks continuation.
Lexie is a runaway bride from a reality show. She jumps on her friend's seaplane that hockey player Sean Knox has chartered to go home to see his ailing mother. Lexie is trying to hide and does not recognize Sean. He keeps it that method then it all blows up in their faces.I enjoyed this story. It was cute. It had humor. It kept me interested. Lexie was no shrinking violet but she did have troubles. She starts with the best on intentions then it goes wrong. Sean does not wish his coach to know he's met Lexie. Now he has to face the truth. They do obtain themselves all twisted.A amazing read for a winter's weekend.
I look forward to Gibson's fresh books, but the characters just don't compare to her earlier works. The idea was cute. I did not develop an interest in the characters and there were no supporting mates her own age or around her to flesh out her life. I loved Simply Irrestable and hoped for more for Lexie.
So disappointed waited for this book so long. Love the author but after it started it didn't go anywhere. I got tired hearing about her huge books and it didn't seam to have much story or humour. Her other books are hilarious. Don't know what went wrong.

Not a poor app. Lots of fake news and some pointless content but all in all I like it. Two main points 1) It often freezes/crashes and 2) Its is infuriating how videos cannot be rotated landscape to movie the screen of my phone. Can this be rectified please???

This application is a amazing method to hold up with Trojans sports news and analysis. Have fun the conversational nature of the podcasts. Michael's glib humor is infectious and Alicia's sports journalism is unsurpassed. If I had to choose one source of info for USC sports, with an emphasis on football, this would be it.
An exquisite and wonderfully created USC app. This application is busting with USC information, that Alicia and Michael convey with well thought out, fact filled articles. Also, the podcast is informative and diverse in it's range of topics. Alicia is definitely the star of the show, while Michael is a amazing supplementary Co-host.
