They can have a cord or be cordless which was fun for me to learn! According to this book, WiFi is currently the most famous type of wireless technology being used in the globe today. There are a lot of advantages to this type of technology, according to the book. These advantages are: fast communication with people are the world, quick data transfers, simple to use and install, cost effective, and very durable. If you are looking to learn even more about this type of technology, this book is filled with info on how to use it and where to search it.

This book has a vast wealth of info concerning wireless communications and I'm beautiful sure I'd have learnt a lot more if I wasn't so bored half the time. It's just a collection of info jotted down on the pages with no method of immersing the student into the text. Plus, it's in black and white, and for the digital ver which I bought, I thought they could at least spring for some colour. Maybe that would have kept me interested in the text.

Security Engineering: A Guide to Building Dependable Distributed Systems []  2020-2-1 22:48

I love this book. I'm not a security professional, just reading it for fun. It's amazing reading for fun.I especially like all the examples. If you already work in the space, you already know WHY any of this is important. If you don't, then leaving those stories out really makes the topic matter dry and irrelevant. Including it really hits home as to why security is so necessary to all of us, and it makes the solutions much more e author explains things in layman's terms, so although this is a very broad and complex topic, it's very accessible through this book. I also love the author's approach of introducing you to *all* the relevant concerns of security, and then giving you references if you wish to learn more (including issues that haven't been solved yet). One thing I found interesting was that having the advantage of living 10 years beyond the end of the book, it becomes clear that a lot of of the current hot subjects in security have been predicted by security experts for years. For example, Google just found the first SHA-1 collision, and in the book, Ross reported that an algorithm has been developed to search a collision in 2^69 steps, but it was predicted that it should be possible in 2^60 steps. 10 years later, as I'm reading the book, Google reports they did it with 2^63 computations. If you're a professional, you probably already know all the necessary items from this book. So depending on what you're looking for, it might not be the book for you. If security is this mysterious, complex thing that feels like it's beyond your reach, you'll love this book. It's not like "heads first" security where it just flies by. You may search yourself slogging through the thousand or so pages over a series of eye-straining months. Your husband might obtain used to seeing you making pained faces around the house while looking at the ceiling as you test to understand something. But it's still fun. Oh also sometimes the author is unexpectedly sarcastic, and that's really fun, too.

Security Engineering: A Guide to Building Dependable Distributed Systems []  2020-2-1 22:48

I’m currently endeavoring on a journey to attain the CISSP-ISSAP (architecture level) security certification. While studying for the CISSP exam I was forced to familiarize myself in a lot of locations of security I had previously skirted – thus it was grueling work. Few of the CISSP level exam questions require in-depth knowledge; overall the CISSP requires an eye-in-the-sky view of the entire security field, and how various concepts fit together. At the level of the CISSP there are a lot of amazing resources and it only took me two weeks of study to prep for a passing ing for the CISSP-ISSAP has been more challenging. Not only is the training availability extremely limited, there are few amazing study resources for the exam. I understand the ISSAP concentration requires detailed knowledge of the inner workings of a lot of technical systems (and not just those normally administered by security professionals). To pass this exam you not only need to retain that knowledge, but know how it all works in min detail.A long foreword, but the point being stumbling across this book has been a lucky break. Ross dives into security engineering at the road level and comes up for air only to relate true globe cases of security failure and how they can be avoided. Not only does he obtain down to the detail level needed on much of the CISSP-ISSAP curriculum, his book is heavily weighted in the technical control fields that are core to the ISSAP exam.If you’re tasked with engineering security controls in any info system or joining me in studying for the ISSAP concentration I highly recommend this is book was published in 2010 making it currently 7 years old. This means there are some glaring exemptions from his review of historical security failures and a bit of weakness in mobile, social and cloud. It should be noted that. Despite being 10 years out of date a lot of of his observations seem eerily prescient given what has occurred during the intervening interval and although lacking in examples pertaining to Social Mobile ytics and Cloud – he accurately predicted the systemic problems encountered in these locations proving amazing fundamental coverage still useful in ailing note. This is 1080 pages - if you're expecting a casual read look elsewhere, while Ross does an perfect job of keeping this digestible be prepared for some focused attention on every ss A++

This is a large deal for beginners and I guess from my point of view I was able to obtain some code review practice on how not to write code. Improper upper/lowercase hero usage, typos, and random pipes out of nowhere throughout the book. Terrible, terrible, not good for folks trying to learn and just getting started.3. Just be prepared for unusual sentences that make more confusion that conclusion, I highly advise versus purchasing this book. First half the book is very primary concepts of ethical hacking/pen testing that can be easily researched for free online and include far greater accuracy and content. The second half of this book is a poorly written C++ introduction with so a lot of errors that it isn't worth your time or energy to invest ank you for reading this review. The premise of Hacking: Computer Hacking for Beginners Tutorial by Alan T. Norman is to teach you about terms and language surrounding “hacking” in general. In specific Alan takes on the daunting task of trying to espouse ethics and morals surrounding hacking, including Black Hat, Grey Hat and White Hat hacking and what the differences are. He also takes on the task of teaching you C++ at a very introductory but functional level so that you actually learn how to program and debug your own r a little book with lofty goals, he accomplishes these tasks surprisingly well. It is clear through reading the book that Alan is a teacher, and he does a amazing job at training you about your topic and then accomplishing your task. I was actually surprised by how much I learned. The context of this statement is that I am a cyber-security professional and a training professional as is is a really perfect book. I was surprised at how clearly Alan elucidates what hacker really means, and goes to amazing pains to explain Black Hats, Grey Hats, and White Hats. Alan tells you in words and figures that there are no short cuts; it is all about learning and experience. He takes a far more ethical bent than I would have expected. This is a amazing beginner book for anyone who is curious, wants to know more, and wants to defend themselves. This is even a amazing book if you have less than ethical motives, and just need to know what words mean and how to obtain started in hacking. While it is clear to me that Alan is not a native US English speaker from some of the expressions and mannerisms in his language, he is still quite clear in expressing himself, and other than a few linguistic idioms there is no confusion as to what he is explaining to you, the reader, and what he wants you to do. Typographical and grammatical errors are few and far between, so it has been well , I read the book on a combination of Samsung S-7 intelligent phone, Amazon Kindle, and computer screen. What I can tell you for sure is that the diagrams in the book, the code examples, are going to be too little to see well on a little screen. You can magnify them quite a bit and they are viewable, but if you really wish to obtain everything you need out of this book, you should be on a full size screen – e.g. 11 inches or bigger. Since theoretically you should be doing everything on a computer anyway, not a tablet, that should not show a issue as you can simply read the book in a Kindle reading app; but it is a factor if you are a commuting reader or a work reader like I is book is like putting on a diving mask for the first time, and catching that exciting glimpse of a whole WORLD under the sea where before you just saw a mass of water. Hopefully the folks starting out and growing up will utilize this and other books to realize that there is a bigger globe out there, and that it is navigable, but like anything else what you obtain out of it depends on what you place into are not going to be able to pull off the next huge department shop cyber-crime after reading this book. But you are going to know a lot more about the exact tools and steps you will need for either ethical or non-ethical hacking. The book does not create a moral choice for you, that is of course up to you. But it does go a long and succinct method to begin you on a much longer journey. And if by possibility you happen to casually meander in to the dark underbelly of the digital universe, at least this book is a signpost to tutorial you.I applaud Alan for his work in getting you started on the street to discovering a bigger world.Highly recommended as an introductory book for hacking.

This book went into far too much detail on creating you own keylogger from scratch. While this may seem like a valid skill to learn, this takes up fully the latest third of the book, which should have been spent on metasploit, nmap, etc. Most of the content is an introduction to other tools with no true guidance on how to use them. On the one hand this is wise, because this book will be obsolete in a year or two if its instructions are to specific, but on the other, if you can give no specifics, don't write a book on it. I fully expect to be able to search detailed guides of the skimmed-over tools and methods in this book on YouTube at no cost. If you only wish a vague introduction to testing, this book is for you. Incidentally, testing is, by extension, probably not.

It is instructive. I do not know much on the topic and I am not interested in attempting hacking but it may be useful to the general public. The detailed programming explanation in the latest part of the book seems somewhat out of tone with the very general considerations in the first part. I would like to see that programing part extended to some other language like Java or Python. In some way, the book although amazing seems to me somewhat unbalanced.

I like how the book goes into hacking and simple to follow steps for a beginner. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in hacking - beginners or masters! Full of amazing useful information. I learned a lot. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn to hack.

I gave it an honest effort hoping to obtain a small something out of it, but the content is rudimentary at best. I guess it would be amazing for someone who's never worked in the IT industry to obtain a 10,000 foot flyby view of the basics of security. But honestly, if you have ever worked in any IT field with even a year of focus on primary security, you won't obtain much from this book. I would consider myself a beginner when it comes to "hacking", so between the title and the near 5 star rating, I was mislead.

Among all the books I have read, this is the best one. It covers all the basics and a couple of exercises to allow you jump into true hacking, yes you have to research a small bit more to create those examples to work, but that's exactly what hacking is about and it comes with no catch because the author explains it very is book is a must for anyone in Pentesting/Hacking to have all the basics if needed.And... like if that was not enough... the book comes with a full gift at the end, practically another full book on how to write a Keylogger for WindowsI have been devouring plenty books about hacking for beginners and trust me, it doesn't obtain any better than is is your Kick Off Book for sure
