I use these texture plates with my Gelli Plate in the margins of my Journaling Bible. It gives fun textures and backgrounds for my pages and is absolutely fun and awesome! Give it a try, it will not disappoint! I use Liquitex Massive Body Paint :)
I saw decorating hints in a cupcake book and I looked for these plates everywhere. I finally risked this package (it had no pictures, now I'm adding some) and they are exactly what I expected. So the thing is I have to try them on paper and fondant but they are absolutely pretty!!
I love these plates because I can control exactly how deep the embossing goes. I frequently wish a more subtle result for backgrounds than the machines allow, and with these I can place lighter pressure and can vary the pressure wherever I want on the same card so that the embossing can have a "fade" result at places. (For example, along the edges; I frequently frame the edges of a background photo with a light daubing of paint, and the lighter embossing works well as a transition.) Also, the plates let me to vary the pattern of the background of a card because I can use one plate for one section of it and another (or two or three) for a mixed ese are virtues that a store-bought embossing folder doesn't allow. The plates let me to create a design all my own with a less "manufactured" look.I am surprised by comments that the process is too labor intensive; I have not found it to be so. Then again, I always use the multi-stylus texture tool with the pivoting head that Fiskars designed especially for the texture plates. After using that tool, I may go over certain parts of a design with a regular stylus if I decide I wish little locations to be more deeply embossed, but the pivoting head on the texture tool makes using the plates a fast project. I think that Fiskars has discontinued the kind of texture tool I bought, just a 2-inch-tall cylinder with an ergonomic design, but I see that it is available at resale resources. I'm sure there is a "new and improved" ver now, but as far as I'm concerned, no improvement was latest point: These very durable plates should latest forever. Or at least a lifetime. Given that's the case, they are a steal at this price. And "steals" are getting harder and harder to search in crafting.
Well I have used them as rubbings, and in my huge shot. The impressions are very fine and really don't leave a deep impression on paper no matter the way which is okay unless you wish something that will give you a amazing deep impression. Also possible I'm not using them right.
These are attractive and simple to use to add visual interest to art projects and drawings. My students (K-4) love to use them during time and arts & crafts. They are thick, rigid plastic and seem like they will latest a very long time.
I absolutely love these embossing folders. They work very well, don't tear or punch through the cardstock, and create attractive designs. I can't wait to use them again in more crafts.
