I absolutely love anything B. Celeste writes. This book is various in that it’s a college sports romance and she wrote it so well. It deals with sensitive issues, but it’s not overwhelming with details. I love that the main characters had been childhood friends. I just love everything about this book.

Dare You to Hate Me []  2021-4-6 23:9

Dare You To Hate Me was an amazing, angsty and swoony slowburn that hit me with all the feels. I laughed, shed a tear or two, swooned and became mesmerized by Aiden and Ivy's heartfelt, gritty and all together consuming story.Ivy and Aiden were childhood mates torn apart who search their method back to each other years later. I adored Ivy and her perfectly imperfect self. I loved that she owned exactly who she was heartaching struggles and all. The glimpses into her past created her all the more relatable to me and created me wish to squeeze her den was swoony perfection.  The method he always sought to give Ivy a safe put to fall even as a young kid created me truly love him. The method they each balanced one another out and gave the other the strength they required was awesome to watch unfold.Dare You To Hate Me was a attractive childhood mates to lovers romance about friendship, loyalty, facing one's past, growth and above all else a soul deep love that brings one exactly where they need to be.

4.5 out of 5 starsI cannot place into words how this book has touched me. B Celeste does a amazing job of reaching in and touching our hearts as we read this attractive is book will take you an emotional journey through self acceptance and self sacrifice and finding your method back. Ivy is a girl that never felt amazing enough, always feeling like a nuisance and chaos in her family's life. Ivy runs, runs from the second family that loved her. Runs from the boy that has always had her back, the boy that allow her go. She must learn to stand on her own two feet and live for herself.“I dare you to hate me, Ivy. We both know you don’t. You couldn’t even if you tried.”Aiden allow her go once but can he allow her go a second time. Fate is a fickle thing and sometimes no matter how far you go, it's written in the stars, someday you will search your method home. I loved that he wasn’t an alpha and surprised by the roll reversal of experience. This gave us a fresh dynamic to a story that I have not seen in a long is is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to dive into her back log and see what else she has out there!.

5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐     This was my first book by this author and it won't be the last. I really loved going along with the journey within these pages. It reminded me of some of my favorite football films mixed with a romance that embedded itself in my heart quickly.     Aiden was everything a character should be.  A character that never gives up and wars for what he wants while maintaining a level of respect by his peers and a heart of gold. He meets Ivy when her family moves in next door when they are both young.  While his home life was everything a kid could want, Ivy's was anything but happy. She spent most of her nights sneaking into his window and sleeping in his closet until she finally had enough and decided to leave.     Four years pass, where Ivy's life takes an even darker turn. She turns to bodily hurt and even though there isn't a lot of detail, the topic is still show so anyone with triggers need to approach cautiously.  I knew on a private basis some of the darkness in this book and the following quote puts Ivy's situation in the excellent light."Those sorts of things build and build and build, collecting under your skin and in your soul until you can’t take it anymore. Sometimes the emotions won’t come out on their own and you need to do something about it."     They surprisingly search themselves at the same college where Aiden is a star football player and Ivy does everything she can to remain an extremely strong, spitfire of a girl when she comes face to face with him again.  All he wants to do is be there for her in any method he can and she refuses him at every turn."I hate you sometimes.” I lean in again, crowding her space. “I dare you to hate me, Ivy. We both know you don’t. You couldn’t even if you tried."     Aiden's hero had me swooning time and time again. The chemistry between them was off the charts HOT. He was everything I would wish in a man, best mate included."You were always mine, Chaos. Five years doesn’t change the fact that it’s always been me. Nobody else had a chance."     He refuses to give up. I loved the push and pull between them. There were several angst filled moments that only proved to create me love Ivy even more. No one pushed her around. She is definitely someone I'd wish as a friend."When you meet the right person, it doesn’t matter what happens because fate will always bring you together."     I was smiling as I finished the latest chapter. They will forever be a favorite couple of mine. I will definitely be diving into this author's backlist as soon as possible!

I was not accurately prepared for this book. I was not ready for the angst and heartbreak. BUT!!!! I absolutely, 100%, hands down loved every tear I cried for this attractive book. B always rips my heart out and this was no exception. Ivy and Aiden beat out all her other characters out of all her books in my opinion.

Childhood best friends, one coming from a loving supportive family and the other turmoil with lots of arguments and let’s down. my heart ached for Ivy. A decision that she created at 16 altered her life and the rest. Years have past but some how they are attending the same university. Can they mend their friendship? Or is their past to much to overcome?

Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy []  2020-9-24 20:3

I would rate each story separately because I love them all for various reasons but that would take forever so I'll just name a few of my favorites. First of all, I love and adore villains. I've never connected with heroes of stories, I'm not excellent and I know myself well enough that if I ever received a superpower I wouldn't be the one stopping bank robbers with it. I mean realistically how a lot of of us would? I've always secretly rooted and understood where villains stand just a small bit more. I mean in Harry Potter when voldy says hey give me Potter and no battle needs to happen, who else didn't think this is an simple fix. I mean all these people died and he still went out into the woods anyways, why did they have to die?!? Story, I know, but realistically. Also I'm not saying I'd sacrifice one for the a lot of but weigh your options I guess. Now don't go thinking I'm a horrible person, just average who knows herself well enough to have self identified as a Slytherin from the very first time I read the first book. Not all Slytherins are evil but ambition has the ability to be corrupted. So I know my flaws and work with them not versus them. Anyways, too much about me and not enough about why I love this book. I love villains. I'm not saying I wish them to win. I'm not Barney from How I Met Your Mother, here. I just obtain it. So an anthology retelling of all these stories I knew it would be heaven for my eyes because their plights create sense. Now some of my favorites were "The Blessing of Small Wants" by Sarah Enni, "Death Knell" by V.E. Schwab, "Julian Breaks Every Rule" by Andrew Smith, and "Sera" by Nicola Yoon. Each had a special villain with a twist and Julian was just plain funny. I laughed the majority of the story and at the end was like WHAT!?! So it was a delight. Now my absolute favorite that tore my heart out was "Beautiful Venom my Cindy Pon, it was a medusa retelling in China medusa being Mei Du... It broke my heart and all the feels I could ever have. I actually cried. It's literally filled with social commentary on rape cultural and how victims obtain treated past, present, and future though I have hope. If you pick this book up I'd suggest just skipping straight to this story. The others are unbelievable and I don't discount them in any method but this one hit me and touched me and I just... I feel so close to Mei Du, I wanted to hug her before and after as a villain. She deserved so much more than what she got and just... I don't know how to tell you to go read it anymore than I already have but if I can only spread it this method I will. I will forever love this story and so I'll forever love this book.

It's difficult to rate an anthology 5 stars, but the majority of these stories were so twisted and disturbing and ultimately phenomenal that they thoroughly crushed any negative thoughts I may have had in a fiery death along with everything else.

This anthology is deliciously villainous. I enjoyed every one of the thirteen stories that comprised BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO HATE ME, though Victoria Schwab's "Death Knell" was probably the best of the lot with its gorgeous prose and twisty plot. If you are a lover of short stories and anthologies, this is certainly one not to miss.

So a lot of of my favorite authors have pieces in this book, and so I was very excited to read it. The short stories in this book are absolutely fabulous and can change the method you see certain popular villains, and all the bit about it being brought about from prompts is really cool as well. However, I HATED the pieces by the booktubers or whoever they were. Their commentary on the short stories were all so annoying and boring that it took me far longer to read this book than it should have because I just did not wish to read them. I did not search them interesting or charming or informational, just boring and obnoxious and pointless. If this book did not have those pieces I likely would have given it 5 stars.

I liked only four storiesI liked only four stories. FOUR FREAKING STORIES. Honestly, it baffles me that most of the stories were written in the most childish and unappealing method EVER, and that most of them started with the hero being good. It just created the stories boring and laughable, in my opinion. Why waste your time with making the characters good? Begin with them being evil and develop them like that.I was incredibly offended by the method Shannon did her story, in terms of storytelling. IF THE FAE KIDNAPPED CHILDREN MAKE A VILLAINOUS TALE ABOUT THEM BEING LIKE THAT, THAT IS FAR MORE ENJOYABLE THAN READING ABOUT HOW THEY "SAVE CHILDREN THAT ACTUALLY ARE JUST HURT"Thank you, Ahdieh, Meyer, Pon and Schwab, for actually making this book a small more depth:Ahdieh wrote a hero that was already a small bit villainous and then turned into a real villain over the course of the story, it was fascinating to yer managed to write a hero that didn't know they were doing anything wrong and still create them dislikable. The plottwist with the betrayal created me genuinely surpised and I love what Meyer did with it. I found myself surpised, because I really haven't liked anything else Meyer has written, but amazing job Meyer.Pon wrote a attractive story that actually created you sympathise with the villain while still acknowledging that they are a villain. Dragging two various cultures together to make a fresh story is a very bold and attractive move. Pon's writing is also hwab's story was just plain amazing, with a interesting twist around every corner. A lovely read

This was fun. It was fun being privy to Allie's interior dialogue and I think I appreciated it a lot because of my own so I felt like a kindred spirit. And although she was quirky there was so much to like about her and so much that her leading man required to grow into to deserve her. Created for a fun romp between the pages.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Main Female Character: Hilarious Inner Ramblings!A lovely romance. The cast of characters were quite diversified: the main female hero very dedicated to causes, loyal to family, and carries out rambling inner dialogue that is hilarious; the main male hero over-indulges in all cash can do and as a effect had a jaded outlook on life; to the main male character's mean-spirited sister; the unique, charming, and warm townspeople; and last, the servants who see all. The main female hero stayed real to her values; the main male hero matured and became a more aware person.I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

The first 70% of the book was a beautiful decent 3.5-4 stars, but after that it just on and with no true purpose imo. I'm a fan of this author and I reread scenes from some of her books over and over, but there was a true disconnect for me with this book. I wasn't a fan of Kennedy at all. There were times when she felt like such a narcissist. She created all these decisions because if people "knew" they would either be jealous of her or wish to befriend her for it. Her described past didn't really warrant her extreme behavior. I wanted to just tell her to obtain over herself bc the globe didn't revolve around her and her day to day decisions. She couldn't even talk to her brother in public because, "what would people think?" Completely self-absorbed without a single thought of the feelings of those around her. Then there was Shay who didn't have a lot of depth, but on the surface he was a amazing guy and loyal. Despite the characters, I'm convinced Tijan can create you swoon over anyone's relationship and that's about the only thing that got me through this book.

    Hate to Love You []  2020-1-18 21:11

Kennedy Clark was punished in high school over her brothers. Girls and guys used her, mistreated her, and betrayed her to obtain close to her brothers or to obtain back at them. She was deeply damage and built up tall walls to hold it from event again. When she got to college, she had a plan; hold who her brothers were hidden, fly under the radar, study hard, and NO DRAMA. Shay Coleman, star quarterback, BMOC, blew that plan out of the water. Kennedy caught his attention their first day of class. She hated him at first glance. However, by not encouraging him, flirting with him or sucbing to his charm; by being defensive, even rude, she kept his interest. Class kept throwing them together until the inevitable happened. Kennedy might hate him, but her body loves him. The two embark on a hidden affair until a horrible happening makes Shay lose control and go public. From that point on, the pair are an item, but there are still problems to be worked out and dangers to their nnedy was a bit too ly for me. I understood her hurt, and the desire to be recognized for herself and not as an extension of her brothers. Wasn't she intelligent and gorgeous herself? Wasn't she worthy of people trying to use others to obtain closer to her? I don't understand why she didn't have merits all on her own, why she required to be so isolated. I don't believe she required to be so harsh to everyone and she didn't need to deny her brothers. College is not high school. Her brothers are not the only amazing looking guys around! And I hope that we females aren't all so desperate that we are constantly trying to damage each other to obtain a cute guy's attention. Back to Kennedy, she could have chop off the users and still been nice to the general public. They kept talking about her gooey insides, all bark, no bite. I never saw the inner sweetness. And Shay was superficial. He existed more as a beautiful, y photo than someone with depth. No deep conversations until forced for this guy. Kennedy didn't trust people out of fear, Shay didn't see the need to obtain close enough to even need trust. The side characters were not much better. I did love Linde, but the girls were only partially developed and Gage was a not good brother/guy at ere were a few parts I loved; Kennedy's humor when she allow her guard down, when Shay called Kennedy - Clarke, the notecard scene, Shay's reaction at the hospital, almost every interaction with Linde, Kennedy's mother. Her mother was hysterically original! There were a few things I didn't like. Kennedy's temper and violent streak seemed overblown. A two week concussion, then all better? Doubtful with what happened. Missy, friend, and cousin. Sabrina's lingering feelings. And I didn't like the ending. When Shay couldn't be reached and didn't return calls, I assumed he was with Sabrina. That felt like it was building into something that would need to be addressed. I felt uneasy with how the stage went. I need all concerns laid to rest.I did have fun this book, but found it predictable. I did have the usual moments of angst that I feel with all Tijan books, but was also a small disappointed. There was small originality. This one shared a lot of of the same charateristics of her other books. Tijan fans will love it and I did like it, but hoped for more.

This book really hit the spot for me. College romances are one of my favorite genres and it's been awhile since I've read a amazing one. This book had some angst. If you love opponents to lovers genre of books, then this will be for you. There is so much to this story that gets revealed at a really amazing pace and I didn't lose interest at all. There are so a lot of interesting characters in this book besides the main ones. I will tell you this. You will fall in love with Shay Coleman. He is the ultimate book boyfriend. Kennedy is a no BS kind of heroine and I found her completely refreshing. She's not one to pull punches or take crap from anyone. And these two together are amazing!

This book started out so amazing ... until the 60% ish mark. Honestly, should've ended there. Then things just got drawn out and WEIRD. Also, the more irritated I got the more I decided I didn't actually like any of it at all. For starters, Kennedy is rude and a B to everyone for NO reason. Everyone kisses her butt too for some reason. There is so reason any girl who acts like her should've or could've landed the most famous guy on campus even if she looks like Nina Dobrev. Sorry, no. She attacks a male student (verbally until he stalks toward her and then it becomes physical on her end on the basis that he COULD have hit her) this is completely brushed off and honestly, if a male student had done what she had to a female student he would've been in jail. Just because Kennedy is a girl doesn't excuse it. Then, she later punches a guy at a party for NO REASON simply because he passed a guy a cup at a DIFFERENT part that the other guy place a date rape in. Like .... this guy had NOTHING to do with that. Honestly, Kennedy is psychotic and I just can't approve of this book at all. It's a Simon Cowell NO FROM ME.

Holy crap Tijan has done it again! If you are looking for an angsty fresh adult read, pick up Hate To Love You today! This book had me hooked from beginning to end! From the moment I saw the cover and read the blurb of this book I knew I required to read it, and I would have one-clicked it, even if it was it wasn't by Tijan, who I read anything by. Shay and Kennedy's story is an absolute must nnedy is a hero that you will wish to love and hate from the moment you meet her. She's rough around the edges, but as you obtain to know her and more about her past you'll understand why she is the method she is, and will come to love her more and more. She only lets a few people in, and when she lets you in, she is very protective of those people. So when Shay comes barging into her life, she is not satisfied about it. He's everything she said she would stay away from, and she immediately hates him, but Shay has a method of breaking down her walls and I loved everything about it. With the support of Linde, Shay is able to support break Kennedy down more and more. Linde is a safe mate for Kennedy, but there is an attraction between Shay and Kennedy that even though she wants to hate him, she can't seem to stay away from him. When things begin to heat up between them, I loved how she said they couldn't talk about it, because you knew that Shay wanted to broadcast it out there, but Kennedy wasn't having any of it, and my heart actually damage for Shay for how she treated him at times. She took her past hurts out on him which wasn't fair to Shay, but he more than created up for all the pain that Kennedy had been t only do we see Kennedy go through A LOT with Shay but we also see her search a amazing group of friends, some that you may not have expected her to be mates with in the beginning of this book when you first meet them. When one of the girls goes through something horrific, how Kennedy deals with it and how she was there for her was attractive and really showed what type of person Kennedy was, and really strengthened the bond that some of these girls had. When Kennedy also went through something traumatic as well, seeing how Shay and others reacted to it and how they were there for her was awesome and really showed that you don't need a large group of people to be in your mate circle, but the ones who really care, those are the ones that matter, and will do anything for you. The help she received and the love that they showed her was amazing. When she finally came out of hiding the reaction she got brought tears to my is was a beautifully written love story, but also a story of self discovery and friendship. I loved watching Kennedy grow throughout this book, and seeing the friendships form. Shay and Kennedy are excellent for one another and I loved watching them go from Hate, to tolerate, to like, to love. It was a long journey for them, with a lot of bumps and bruises along the way, but in the end, it was a excellent story. I fell in love with them and all of the characters. I really didn't wish to say goodbye to them or the secondary characters in this book and I can only hope we can see Casey, Kristina, Linde and others in future books by Tijan one day. If you are looking for an angsty book to dive into that's full of laughs, tears, and steam, I highly suggest one-licking Hate To Love You by Tijan today!

    Hate to Love You []  2020-1-18 21:11

The timing for the release of Hate To Love You by Tijan is excellent with all the college students heading back to campus to begin another fresh year.  Whether they are freshman or upper classmen, they are embarking on another exciting year that will become part of their life nnedy Clarke is starting her freshman year at Dulane University.  She is starting school with very high expectations and well thought out strategic list to ensure her success in college.  Her list is very specific and outlined in direct detail.  Her reasonings are valid after her negative experiences in high school.  She is a girl with goals that she intends to rst on the list is NO HOT GUYS.  A bit unrealistic considering the campus is full of them, which contains her older brother Gage. The difference is that she can choose not to engage with the enemy.  It seems doable until she gets to her Political Science class and is forced into group participation.  That contains participation with the star quarterback Shay Coleman, who is not the typical jock. She can handle the jock but she can't handle the man behind the title.  The only thing she can do is become his secret friend. Because if people knew they were mates it would break rule number le number two- NO DRAMA.  Completely unrealistic when in an all girls dorm and three girls who are determined to be her friend.  Two of these girls are determined to obtain the complete "college experience" which contains frat parties, football games, and late night pizza binges followed by ice cream induced comas.  These girls are bent on bringing rule number one into play.  And she's still trying to hold her growing friendship with the star quarterback and her hotter than sin brother under wraps.  When the unthinkable happens, rule number one is once again broken.  They may need certain hot guys to support them versus the other hot guys who were the reason this rule was place into le number three - NEW YEAR. NEW PLACE. NEW ME.  This rule was completely workable and did work but it just didn't work the method Kennedy imagined it all began in Political Science class and became a college experience Kennedy never imagined she would have.  The hot guy proved her theories wrong.  The drama in the fresh year and fresh put led her to the fresh me, a girl who became stronger, more determined, and with much more realistic goals.  Kennedy not only changed her major, she changed her life.Tijan captured the "college experience" and so much more.  She gave all the characters a lifetime experience that was more educating than the lectures and textbooks could.  I hope there will be more from the gang at Dulane University.

3.5Gah! This book had such promise. The title, the blurb, the cover, the author but it just fell short. I kept waiting for the connection to the story and or characters to happen but it just never e writing was confusing at times, mostly toward the beginning. The transition into dialogue and who was speaking and or the point of the thought/conversation were muddled. All things I could overlook with a amazing story. The characters were going through the motions , but to what? What was the point? There seemed to be lack of purpose and the writing seemed stalled. Was this a book about trust? A book about moving forward? A book about overcoming fear -physical or emotional? All of the above? Instead of the characters being developed things happened to them. Even the hate pretense was weak , the author had to explain it several times throughout the people use you for who you are and or who you know? Are you treated differently when they search out who you are ? Yes and yes but for me this premise alone wasn't powerful enough to carry a story. The love story would've been stronger if we'd had more hero development. It almost seemed like the story became like Groundhog Day - wash, rinse, repeat. Why such a harsh review for a 3-3.5 rating? There's nothing that equates to the emotional disappointment when reading a book with such promise, by a beloved and talented author, a highly anticipated book to only have the story fall flat.Tijan, even when it's not her best work , always provides an entertaining read

Not ignoring the fact that I'm a sports-related romance addict, with the begin of a fresh school year and football season right around the corner, plus a cover aimed at enticing readers, created this temptation a sure bet that I would be using the Amazon one-click button sooner rather than later!#1 No hot guys.#2 No drama.#3 Fresh year. Fresh place. Fresh unds like a solid plan, right? You begin out with the best of intentions -- then the unexpected happens. And even those best-laid plans of mice and men often go e enemies-to-lovers theme is very popular, and has shown up time and again on college campuses in more books I've read through the years than I can recall. But here, the author took charge and owned it as her own, giving it a bit of a fresh face and a various feel with an element of suspense. Believe me, Tijan indeed gives it her own private spin and makes it work. The fact that she's a new-to-me author may have played a little part in my reaction to it this time around. But it could be that she just wowed me with her take on it, too. Let's just say that I scored far more from this reading experience than I ese may be college-age characters, but they bring with them serious issues and true life issues. Don’t bet on anything because you'll search there are some huge surprises heading your way. I don’t think this author followed any map because she makes some detours down the less trodden pathways before you reach the end. I hungrily gobbled up every drop of angst, drama, romance and suspense along the though my preference is most always for both main characters to show their points of view, Kennedy Clarke gets the single honor this time around. Anyway, my resistance was low (as I may have mentioned above), and I went for it. And I liked it -- I really, really liked it! But I might haveREALLY LOVED IT with Shay Coleman's voice added to the mix."That isn’t playing fair." His grin widened. His lips met mine, and he whispered versus them,“I don’t play fair. Ever. You should know that about me.”Kennedy is a compelling female protagonist with some huge trust issues. A beautiful but fiery small character. The relationship between Kennedy and her two brothers -- one a celebrity -- adds another level of interest to her history, too. With her force field in put to protect herself and, in turn, fending off up close and private relationships, Kennedy remains somewhat of an enigmatic personality. Her frequent soliloquies became a bit tiresome at times -- annoyingly so. But she's not quite prepared for the likes of Shay Coleman. She tries her best to hate him. It's really quite ugly. But test as she might, she can't shake loose from those feelings he stirs inside her. Kennedy can best be described as a mixed bag. And she's definitely not immune to Mr. Popular. But it is Shay Coleman who steals the show. He is tantalizingly appealing and a stupendous male protagonist -- so much more than you tend to expect from star quarterbacks or campus heartthrobs with smirky grins and y attitudes. Oh, he's all that, too -- but down deep, he's an all-around amazing guy -- the total package! Not your average Joe Jock. He's personable and everyone is drawn to him. Of course, he's hot items and, with the snap of his fingers, he can have his choice of campus divas. But Shay has his eye on only one female -- and she's stubborn and unwilling. He's no quitter though, and he stands steadfast in his pursuit. He's withholding a few secrets of his own, and his private life is exactly that -- private and private. But he's also genuine, loyal and trustworthy. I swear I adored this guy!The enemies-to-lovers phase is but a blink of the eye, and then the relationship quickly moves on to the next level. Seemingly a small more mature and balanced than your average college student, these two have both navigated painful history, yet survived. And even with a rocky start, their opposites attract match-up is perfect. The sparks, banter, push and pull, feel-goods, angst, drama, lies and romance -- you'll search them all.A full house of diverse secondary characters effectually rounds out the cast. Each brings their own uniqueness, but never overshadowing the leads. You'll be surprised to search that Kennedy's mom is quite a ball of hilarious entertainment. Some of these characters may even be shouting for a story of their e suspense gets revved up with a dark turning point when problem arrives on campus involving some tough and sensitive problems to work through. I didn't see this coming until it struck. Kennedy becomes a target when she steps forward to defend another student. And before this author releases you from the grip she's holding on you, there'll be plenty of questions, accusations, chills, s, and thrills -- and even a few sniffles, or there were for me anyway. Unlike high school, this time around, Shay stands by her side lending help through it e authenticity Tijan portrays in her characters, the info in bringing the college campus to life, and the integration of the bonds of family and friendships altogether create a gift-wrapped pack of intensely delectable and fun reading. I've read more than a few reviews on other books by Tijan. A lot of refer to the sorcery that is special to her writing. With glimmers of what seems to create her so popular, I may have just experienced it for myself. I'm going to check out some of her backlist to see if I can search a small more of that magic. If this book is any indication of what is to follow, I think I might be a real believer.HATE to LOVE YOU by Tijan is a standalone, college romance novel that contains a well-balanced mix of college drama, sports-related romance and an extraordinary cast of characters woven together making it my kind of story. In my opinion, the book ended rather abruptly. That unexpected Hail Mary pass at the very end was out of bounds and totally confusing. I was somewhat disappointed that the Epilogue wasn't a small more forthcoming to end this book on a more complete and satisfactory note. Still, I found it to be a chop far above most and a delight to read. I recommend for those who have fun YA romance.

Kennedy and Shay. OMG, these two were so dynamic together. The story drew me in from page one and I seriously did not place this book down for 24 hours. I can’t believe that it took me this long to obtain to reading this book. It seriously is one of my favorite Tijan books and I love me some Tijan ere is so much going on between the two main characters that you have to wonder where it can go if there is so much hate between them....even if it’s only one sided. Well, the story blew me out of the water because I could not imagined everything that I read coming to fruition on the page. I was right there with Kennedy throughout her journey. I was there when she stumbled, when she triumphed, when she doubted....I was her or I wished that I was her because she has a strength that is unparalleled only to a few. Seriously one of my favorite heroines in Tijan’s books. And don’t obtain me started on Shay Coleman. Man if I had been in college with a guy like this....it would have been heaven. Who could possibly imagine that the begin quarterback at the university could more perfect. Obviously he was excellent in his looks, but to be excellent on the inside. Excellent for Kennedy, excellent for bringing out the side of her that was soft and required love. Excellent in the sense that he was all in even before he could even fathom having those thoughts. I need a Shay Coleman in my life and in my relationship. I wish him to be there for me just like he was for Kennedy.Tijan strikes again with her brilliance and realism. She brings the love, but definitely brings the pain. She is a master at drawing you in breaking you into a million pieces and then bringing you back in the most magnificent method possible! My cup runneth over with how in love with this book I am.

Kennedy was a fun hero to read about in this story. She's strong, feisty, even somewhat combative, thanks to the not-so-awesome experience she had living through high school. She wants to just hold her head down and focus on her studies in college, but that plan gets derailed once Shay walks into her life/class/project team. Shay's role as the star quarterback makes him a natural leader. And while he's used to being protected on the field, he's a stead-fast protector in life. Kennedy's brother, Gage, asks Shay to hold an eye on his small sister, and Shay's not one to not deliver on a e ebb and flow of this story truly kept me hooked. I felt the extra obstacle at the end of the story was a bit more than important - it didn't seem to lead to extra resolution between the characters - so that's the only reason this story isn't 5 full stars but 4.25 for me instead.

I am on a roll today apparently of writing reviews for books I DNFed and / or didn’t like, so let’s tackle another one, shall we? :) I did not have huge expectations going into this one.. I’ve read some mixed reviews about it before I even started it, so I thought I was prepared… as it turns out, nope, I was not prepared at all… I finally gave up at 44% because of sooooo a lot of reasons… I listened to the audiobook, and the phenomenal narrator is probably the main reason why I stayed with this story so long… because the actual insides of the book… yikes… Kennedy, our heroine was awful… most of the time she was judgemental, rude and mean… I’m not sure what exactly happened to her in high school, cause at this point we didn’t obtain like a full explanation, but her actions did seem exaggerated… then we have Shay, the hero… *sighs* it’s hard to say too much about him, because the whole book is from Kennedy’s perspective and we see him like she sees him… we can’t see what he thinks and why he acts a certain way, and that makes it that much harder to actually understand him… their “romance” is nonexistent… he acts like a jerk, or so we think, but again, because we see him through only Kennedy’s eyes I don’t know how reliable that opinion actually is… and then they hook up, like one radom afternoon… *eye roll* and I mean, I knew I did not expect anything super serious from this story, but I wanted to at least obtain some more meaningful interactions between our main couple… I already forgot why I gave up at this exact moment, was it one particular stage or just a ulation of feelings, but I just had enough… I’ve heard about this author before, so I am willing to test one of her other books in the future, cause maybe it was just that this particular one wasn't to my taste… as always, I encourage you to read up some other reviews before making up your own mind about maybe giving this story a try, cause a lot of people seem to really love it :)

    Hate to Love You []  2020-1-18 21:11

Lately I been disappointed by tijan writing that I been debating to buy her books. Before buying this book I felt compelled to read the inside book free chapters, and then decided to give a try. However, this book was better then the latest few. I been reading most of tijan books fallen crest series, Logan, carter series, sustained, jaded series, anti-stepbrother, broken and screwed series and so on...... I been very disappointed with some of her writing. I liked better this book and it showed better her writing skilled. I just hoped that the book would not finish abruptly. I did not like the end, it did not read as an end of the story just that the author stopped writing. I liked the two main characters however Kennedy would act as childish most of the time. I mean high schooler behavior is totally various then collage and most of the time collage student are too busy to be interested in other people personal life or who they know. I understand Kennedy list to not obtain involved with student drama prioritizing her studies. I also liked her reasoning not to be used as Casey attempted, as a back up plan. I really did not like her brother who forgets that he has a sisters and leaves her alone drinking with a crowed that she is not familiar, who does that! I liked the originality of her mom hero it was crazy funny. I believe that the secondary characters were not developed well in the story and the built of these characters were left flat. Most of the time I had the impression while reading that there was a story behind each characters and the author on propose left it unfinished, underdeveloped characters. Shay most of the time I did not know his point of view, except the obvious attraction that he felt towards Kennedy. However there was no surprise scenes and some were predictable. Both main characters stage were obvious and with a predictable chemistry. At times I had the impression that the two main characters would break up and the story would take a various direction. I believe the author had a change of heart and decided to move forward with the relationship. The author played a lot around Kennedy’s insecurities.Everything happened to Kennedy at college, being attacked and verbally abused. Even if Kennedy attempted to stay away from college drama she ended being the center of said drama. I gave 4 stars because finally the author is back to her writing skills although could have been a better book with more effort. I hope she keeps up with her writing getting better each time.

Her powerful sense of justice never waivers; the corruption she encounters only makes her more determined. Unafraid to obtain physical, she wars the boys responsible for her humiliation. I wasn’t comfortable with the guys getting physical with her.DARE YOU TO LIE is nonstop action and intrigue. Any number of suspects could have been responsible for what happened to Kylene freshman year, changing my theories frequently. Amber Lynn Natusch kept the tension-filled pace moving along nicely. She gave Kylene a smart, witty voice and the characters amazing dialogue and banter.I can’t wait for the second book of DARE YOU TO LIE TO BE RELEASED.

A very timely and well crafted mystery. Kylene moved away from Jasperville following the release of images that were explicit and caused her a amazing deal of pain, not to mention her friendships, especially with her boyfriend whose camera was linked to the pictures. Two years later, she's forced to return and live with her grandfather, a guard at the prison where her dad is now incarcerated on a murder charge. Abandoned by most of her old friends, Ky begins an uneasy return to high school, supported by Garrett, the sheriff's son, who quit the football squad because of the method other teammates banded together and refused to reveal who took the pictures. Add in a new, nerdy but spunky girl who just arrived from Canada, and Ky has the begin of a help system that allows her to regroup and start determining who took the pictures, and more importantly, who framed her dad for murder. Reading how that unfolds makes for a dandy story.

I've read everything by Amber Lynn Natusch and loved it, Dare You To Lie now included. I typically prefer more urban fantasy but this book kept me guessing throughout. With Natusch books it is impossible to guess what is going to happen. I will recommend this book to my daughters that are 12 and 21, as well as my best mate who is 42. I'm guessing that all will have fun it. Natusch writes teens like the ones I'm used to, they have already been beaten up by life and are dealing with it in more mature ways. No annoying squeaky teens here. Read it and see.

This was a 3.5 for me, but I rounded up because I wish to continue on with the series, it definitely ended up drawing me lene is obnoxious. She has some superiority-hero complexes. She does not think her crap stinks, that is for sure. Her speech verbiage is also off-putting. Not like any high school student I ever met. I really struggled with the beginning of the book. While I wanted to know the story, I did not wish to read about Kylene at all. Once things got going, the plot kept me interested. I really liked Garrett. He was my favorite character. The poor guys created amazing poor e book sets up two cases. The first, being her dad convicted for a crime Kylene is sure he didn't commit. The second, the cirtance that led Kylene's family to leave Jasperville a couple years before. While Kylene sets out to tackle both, her dad's case is rarely mentioned. Only visited twice, but there was supposed to be another visit that was never spoken of again. Most of the focus is on her case from a few years ago, and figuring out how to bring Donovan down a notch or 10. I would have liked some more time on her dad, too.Overall I enjoyed the story, especially seeing how deep everything goes.

First in Amber Lynn Natusch's Hometown Antihero series, this book both surprised me and excited me. As a long time reader of everything this author has ever written, I wondered if young adult books would be her forte. Well, I always said that she could write the telephone book and I would read it, so I shouldn't have been surprised when I found the book to be well written and nonstop page lene is a seventeen year old girl who has moved in with her grandfather after her FBI agent father is found guilty of murder. So she's back in the city that she moved from two years before following a horrible happening that features six members of the football squad and a camera. Any other girl would probably shiver in a corner when faced with these young men. Well, not so Kylene as she sets off to both prove her father's innocence and prove which guy ruined her life. Once you meet this heroine, you will almost immediately know that she doesn't back off from a challenge, much less when it involves people she cares about. She's certainly someone that I would love to have my back in any situation. She's also someone full of snark and feisty as they come. A huge plus in anything I ere's plenty of people to point fingers at, so amazing luck figuring anything out-a plus in any mystery. I had figured a part out, but certainly nowhere near all of it. There's also plenty of suspenseful/scary moments to go through with ere's lots of amazing characters besides the feisty Ky, most notably, her best friend, Garrett, a amazing guy. It's refreshing to see a female and male be just friends-although I liked Garrett so much that I was half hoping for something there. Who knows, there might be something there? But probably not. Also necessary is the fresh girl in school, Tabby, who fits right in with Ky and Garrett's friendship. I can't tell you just how much I loved these characters! Oh, there's a lot of more and some villains as well, but the heart of this book were these tusch has written the YA book that I would have wished for when I was a teenager. It's intelligent and sassy-due to its heroine, but it's also about some beautiful scary subjects. For this reason, I would recommend it for ages 14+. And that should say highly recommended. I can't wait for the next book!

I loved this cholas and Livvy have large chemistry and a compelling backstory that sucked me in from the very first pages. I love the theme of a emotionally constrained H learning to allow go and this book is one of the best treatments I've read of that in a long while. There is so much sadness and lost potential at the beginning of this book, it's truly a sad backstory for so a lot of characters. The author gradually introduces hope, something that I expect to continue throughout the series as more characters are involved. It has such a true feeling, characters of multiple races, classes, ities, all just interacting like people. On top of all that, it's so hot! Rai is a writer to watch, she's writing some of the best contemporaries being published today.

I finished this book a while back, and I hold thinking about it, but not in a amazing way. The reason this book still lingers on my mind is because I know Rai to be talented. You read the book and you’ll search scenes and moments, outside of the main romance that take your breath away. She knows how to present familial relationships and the havoc they wreak on families. What I hated about this book, unfortunately were three main characters: Livvy, Nicholas, and Nicholas’ sister Evangeline whose this infantile young vvy though…I don’t know if we’d be mates as we’re vastly various in some ways. However, the reason I came to hate her, is the reason why I’m not certain if we’d be friends. There is no method I would stand by and let her to have her HEA with Nicholas. She has problems yes, but damn she deserves better than Nicholas. I wouldn’t go all romance trope in between them, but I feel as a friend, I would have begged her to see her therapist and move on from such a conniving jerk. I’d tell her she’s worth more than a few one night stands. I don’t think Livvy would have listened to me if this was true life and that’s probably why I couldn’t be mates with her. I couldn’t see myself enabling a self-destructive friend, but it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t cholas…he’s a jerk. The end. Apparently, a hot jerk. I mean Gavin Rossdale is fine, but you didn’t see Gwen sticking around after he acted like a complete idiot.Evangeline…she’s obnoxious and spoiled. I know her story line wraps up the series, but there’s no method I would read her story. I’d probably just read the spoiler reviews to see if certain plots ended well. And to me what created this all the more painful were the erotic scenes, because they felt forced. Not in quality or imagination, more like I kept yelling in my head the latest thing these two should be doing is having . There’s hot and then there’s the whole uncomfortable feeling you obtain when your mate shares all the raunchy info of her escapade with Jerk Du Jour. I know the book justifies their relationship, because “true love,” but I just don’t buy it. Nicholas is a freaking narcissist, no one should even consider dating him.Which brings me to the strengths of this book, again the familial relationships and all the amazing nods and allusions to soap operas. With references to All My Kids and a plot that comes straight out from my favorite telenovela of all time, Cañaveral de Pasiones, I definitely wanted to see if Rai’s novel had the same shocking end, but at latest that would probably be resolved in Evangeline’s story. (However, if you loved Evangeline, you saintly reader, you’ve got to obtain to the end. This plot and story will be epic.)I do wonder if the story wasn’t a romance between two broken people and maybe if she wrote something similar, but with that novel’s “Livvy” saying ‘Oh, hell no,” to such a worthless man if I would have liked it better. The thing is…I’m beautiful sure I e’s someone that could easily cross genres if her writing muse ever stirred for stories outside of romantic erotica. I definitely wish to read her other novels. As long as I can avoid this particular series as I dislike Nicholas and Livvy’s relationship that much.

This took me a couple of tried to obtain through it and at times I was skimming. I wasn't in any rush to pick it back up but I do think the next books have potential simply because I like the characters more (Sadia and Jackson). Here's what I like: * Sadia...I'm really curious how Rai treats her biity * Lots of diversity in race, religion, and ity * She can write well, but some editing problems (see below)What I dislike: * It took forever for Nicholas to stand up to his father. * Same for Livvy...the parents really were the worst * Potential for mysterious family accidents fell flat, went nowhere * Did I miss what happened to Paul? * Lots of supporting characters and family connectionsMy huge gripe was two consistency errors during two scenes. Rai can write really hot scenes but in one Livvy was wearing a skirt and a thong, and then the next she's in leather pants? I had to stop and go back, taking me out of the story. The other Nicholas was all hot and bothered about being in her bare and how he had never done that with anyone but her, the next page he was getting rid of the condom. What the what? This is a major publishing house, these should have been caught. I know it's nitpicky but they totally threw me.

I’m a large sucker for forbidden and second possibility romances and this book held the promise of both, and with such glowing recommendations it was an simple decision to one-click!The forbidden aspect of the novel comes from a falling out between two families who were once extremely close, almost like a huge family themselves. They went into business together and remained connected in so a lot of ways for many, a lot of years. But when tragedy struck the families were pulled apart, including the young love between Nicholas and cholas and Livvy have this opposites attract vibe going on. Nicholas is the reserved and serious type. He has a lot of responsibilities within the company, seemingly none more than mediating between sparring family members. Livvy is a ferocious, no-nonsense woman. She’s got a spunky side that I loved and together with Nicholas they balanced each other out in so a lot of ways. There was obviously a lot of love still brewing between these two all these years later that they were denying themselves, except for that one night a year when they caved and gave themselves to each other. When Livvy moves back to town, they cannot deny it any ere was so much awesome tension between these two characters. Their connection was so powerful and undeniable no matter how hard they tried. When they do come together it is incredibly hot and steamy! You can’t support but root for these two to search a method to be together and for their relationship to be accepted by their families.I also really loved the background on both families, how the friendship began and seeing how closely they were connected. It created the collapse that much more devastating. With so much discord and so a lot of secrets about the happenings causing the tension, there is a lot to unravel and I think we have more to explore in the books to come. I wanted a small more resolution about a few things but it seemed obvious as we move on to focus on other characters that we will have to wait for those stories to be told to search those answers. The strife between the families caused issues for a lot of family members on both sides in entirely various ways. We only scratch the surface of those characters here but I already feel invested in their stories as well. I cannot wait to see what the next book in the series will bring!

This is a super-steamy with a smidgen of domination second-chance romance. Only Rai has made a rich, complicated emotional backstory of two families that are tangled up together in romance and business that would be worth reading on its own.Right before WWII, Sam Oka and John Chandler opened a grocery shop together. Their friendship s was so strong, that when the Okas were sent to an internment camp, John kept the business going and when the Okas returned they created it ey had kids and grandchildren, who all grew up together as rich kids. Two of the grandkids, Livvy Oka-Kane and Nicholas Chandler fell in love as teenagers. Then some poor items went down. Some people died, a business takeover occured, and Livvy and Nicholas called it quits....except for once a year on Livvy's birthday she texts Nicholas coordinates of her zone and they meet up for one wild, hot ne years later, Livvy has come back home to mend family relationships and Nicholas is still there helping to run the grocery business. For the first time in years, they can not run away from each other...and there's all that not good family history, Livvy's depression, and Nicholas' secrets about whey he broke off their relationship in the first ere's also a sub-cast of family members each of whom definitely deserve their own books! Even Grandpa John and Livvy's cold mother, Tani! Luckily, Livvy's widowed sister-in-law and her twin brother seem like they will be the couple of the next is is a super-steamy, well written emotional relationship book with an extra-rich supporting family cast and delicious backstory. And truthfully, just including Japanese Internment as a main influence in the backstory would have gotten any competently written contemporary to 4 stars, it's just icing on the cake that this contains amazing steamy scenes and unbelievable sub characters. I'll definitely be going on to the next in the series!

Hate to Want You: Forbidden Hearts []  2020-7-3 18:56

I had heard a lot about the author but she was always described as more of an erotica writer with bdsm and menages etc and that's not really my bag so yesterday was the first time I bought a book of hers. I bought this one and immediately bought the following two and have read all three of credibly y scenes but not particularly kinky and the characterization is flawless. All of them feel like true people. And I'm kind of mind blown at how well she balanced this sort of larger than life drama and extreme situations in such a method that it always felt believable. The relationship between Nicholas and Livvy was gorgeous and I loved the look into his mind and how frustrated he got whenever he would say the wrong thing and how desperately he wanted to be with her. And the author discusses gender dynamics and race and class in such a method that it feels natural. That's something a lot of writers still struggle with. Nicholas (and Gabe and Jackson) manages to be protective and still masculine and y without being a controlling domineering jerk. If you aren't usually a fan of second possibility romances you should give this a shot because I usually hate them but this one is handled really well. I understood how it happened. And they fixed it after a reasonable amount of time and without any stupid plot devices like neither of them having slept with anyone else in 10 years *cough* Walk Through Fire *cough* This is such a unbelievable series I can't recommend it highly enough.

This story snuck up on my feelings. Rai gives life to a multidimensional two-family dynamic that feels believable in the background of Livvy and Nicholas's interactions. The drama was just dramatic enough to generate interest without feeling heavy-handed or over-the-top, and the supporting cast (including John, Eve, Sadia, and Maile) framed things very vvy's depression is well-handled here, with a amazing look at what it can be like to live with depression outside of crisis mode. Nicholas's struggle with the hurt done by an emotionally distant family is also addressed in an honest and compassionate manner. As someone who has experience with both, I appreciated this very e ending was a bit abrupt for me, but still satisfying.

But when Livvy’s dad and Nicholas’s mom die in a vehicle together, when they weren’t supposed to even be in the same state, the relationship falls apart. Nicholas’s dad somehow acquired the Kane half of the stores, Livvy’s brother is jailed for arson–burning down the flagship store, and Livvy left vvy may have quit town, but Nicholas is harder to quit. He shows up at the tattoo studio where she’s working and ignites everything she’s tried to forget.Rai’s writing–as always–sparkles. You care, deeply, about Livvy and Nicholas. You wish to know what really happened the night of the vehicle wreck. You can’t support but be sucked in. The entire trilogy ends up being quick reading because you just don’t wish to place the books vvy and Nicholas are both three dimensional, with strengths and faults. Livvy has panic attacks. Nicholas is manipulated by his father. They have their own history to deal with, and not just the years of the one-night-only rule. They each have a special voice, and you never blur who’s point of view we’re in at any given e pacing is good. The show unrolls, introducing us to the characters and doing the massive lifting for globe building for the series. The past is unveiled tantalizing slice by tantalizing slice–both the history of the families, and the history between Livvy and Nicholas.I highly recommend not just this book but the entire series.

Hate to Want You: Forbidden Hearts []  2020-7-3 18:56

It feels like I've been waiting for Hate to Wish You to be released for years; I've been so hyped for this book because I've loved everything else I've read by Alisha Rai, and there were so a lot of amazing things being said. She knows how to write amazing romances with interesting characters, awesome chemistry, friendships, and dynamics. And this book did not disappoint.Hate to Wish You had me crying on several occasions. The pain these characters have been through, all spiraling from one accident, is rough. And to see Livvy struggle to move on still decades later, it hurt! But I loved her journey, and how her journey was a huge part of this book.-My favorite quotes:"A little kernel of contentment bloomed inside her. Connections. She may have gotten her heart batted around, but she'd found what she'd come here for."" 'I'm glad I stayed,' she said, and she believed every word. That darkness would never go away, but it was easier to beat darkness back when you had a secure base to war from, when you had people willing to keep your purse while you lit the torch."-I loved seeing Livvy reconnecting with her family and working to establish a help system after all the years of running. I especially loved seeing Livvy and Nicholas both getting back what they lost in their relationship, and the established strength it takes to do so. Not to mention, the family dynamics were so amazing (minus [email protected]#$% Brendan Chandler bye).My heart feels so warm upon finishing this, it's a fresh favorite for sure.

I understand the trope of opponents to lovers - that’s what this is trying to be. Unfortunately for me, while the heroine has some well written funny inner monologue, the “hero” is unlikable to me that there’s no coming back from it.He calls her unattractive. He makes her change in order to be beautiful to him. He’s wealthy and I obtain that, he’s used to a type, I obtain that too, but how would any woman forget that someone didn’t search you beautiful as you were? In your natural state? There’s only one POV, so it’s not like you’re getting his inner monologue of maybe he feels differently and he’s actually surprisingly attracted to her, and it’s freaking him out - there’s nothing to understand or search redeeming about his personality.I found it insulting. I found him condescending. I disliked the over use of the word Balderdash! What? I had a hard time believing this man was from NY. Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you speak like this.I liked the idea of it, and the heroines sassy nature to some degree but then again, she didn’t really speak up for herself when he’s ripping her is was a hard DNF for me.An opponent has to actually be redeeming or there’s no coming back from it.

This is the third book of five in the fresh “Off Limits” series and the book ends in a cliffhanger. You definitely need to read book one, “Make Me Wild” and book two “Make Me Miss You” before reading this book.Written from both Isabella and Ren’s point of view, you learn that each has succeeded in achieving the goals they had set when growing up. The only issue with that is neither one truly seems satisfied and don’t seem to know why. Once the accidentally search each other, they are forced to spend time together. This leads to discovering why they are unhappy with their private lives. Ms. Snow does an perfect job of telling the story so that we go thru all the feelings of hatred, forgiveness, friendship, laughter, drama, misunderstandings, and possibly romance with the is is another five star read that once again, I could not place down. Im looking forward to the next two books and hoping they written just as well as the first three.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest is is book 3 of 5 in the "My brothers best friend" series although Ren and Gabe are no longer best friends. This book takes put 12 years after the happenings of the latest book and reads as an opponents to lovers romance, sort of. Latest time we had Isabella broken hearted and planning to never talk to Ren again but fate has other plans for these two. Isabella is now done with college and landed her dream job as a sports journalist and her first huge assignment is interviewing the same squad Ren happens to play for unbeknownst to her. When they see each other again, both are shocked as its been 12 years since they have had any contact but they test to stay professional. To clear the air, Isabella decides to sit down and talk to Ren about what happened all those years ago and much to her surprise its not at all what she thought. Duh. I even knew that. Teenagers lol Will these two be able to obtain past the past and maybe have a possibility for the future or is it too late?I enjoyed this book a lot better than the first two probably because everyone is a bit older and seemingly wiser than the past two books. Ren and Isabella had the same chemistry as always but they are both cautious as the method things ended really damage both of them. Isabella has to forget everything she thought she knew and Ren has to come to terms with the fallout of his actions. I liked seeing them being playful with each other but I really want that Isabella would stop being so difficult and give into what she really wants. I am excited to hold reading this series as I think it will only obtain better.

This is the 3rd book in this fascinating series and needs to be read in order. After not setting eyes on each other for 12-years after a betrayal by Ren, Bella has finally landed her dream job as a sports journalist, and she feels ready to move on at last. Now fate has stepped in and they meet face to face, and they have both achieved the dreams they had growing up. Ren is a star quarterback who has a playboy reputation, but he has never really moved on from Isabella. No spoilers: this is a must-read series you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story which is an emotionally charged story, and is humorous, entertaining, heartbreaking, and filled with anger, drama, forgiveness, and love, which all leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

    I Hate You--Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality []  2020-1-26 19:47

I was recommended this by my treatment provider shortly after being diagnosed with Borderline & I can honestly tell you this book changed my life. It was the first time I actually read something that created me say "omg this is me, I'm not just crazy". The info in it is incredibly valuable, I actually recommend it to the individuals I work with now when they are diagnosed or someone is thinking they have that diagnosis & I often obtain the same feedback that I gave when I read it. People seem to either relate to it a lot or question the symptoms which is helpful in being able to tell your provider WHY you don't think it matches your behavior. It's so well written & moving that Demi Lovato even wrote a song (literally called I Hate You, Don't Leave Me) after reading it to understand herself. I highly recommend it to providers, those who have loved ones that struggle with BPD, those diagnosed with BPD, & even people who just wish to know more.

Angst lovers, buckle up and run to the 1-Click because you’re going to love, love, love this book! It’s an incredibly emotional journey that place my heart through the wringer and it was all I could do to keep on tight as I flew through the pages.Jasmine Olsen was raised by her loving aunt while her mother wandered in and out of her life, but she spent most of her time in the Wagner household with her best friend, Morgan, and Morgan's brother, Tyler. The day Jasmine's mother said goodbye for good, Jasmine ran to Morgan, only to search comfort in Tyler’s arms, instead. After Tyler declared it a mistake, Jasmine left town, vowing to place it all behind her. Seven years later Morgan is marrying the love of her life, and Jasmine has no choice but to return ese two. Ahhhh!! They wrecked me. I wanted them to be together so much, and every time I thought it would happen, it didn’t. Then there's the whole “sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along" thing and all the internal conflict that comes with it. My anxiety was through the roof!If you love angst and second chances like I do, you’re probably ready to run to the 1-Click. Whoa there, reader friend, sit tight for just a second longer. You need to prepare yourself. That wonderful, beating organ in your chest that holds the essence of life? This story will shred it, bit by bit, into little pieces. An exquisite, attractive annihilation that will leave its tag on your soul and yet somehow still create your heart satisfied sigh. Now, gather the tissues, gird your heart, and go forth and read!Warning (and spoiler):If you take a firm stance on cheating, you may wish to pass on this one, (and STOP reading now if you don’t wish a spoiler) . . .. . . although the cheating occurs between the two main characters who are both dating someone else at the time.

It’s with amazing reason why Kandi Steiner is known as the Angst Queen. She has this ability to hook you with every story and gets you invested in the characters, but at the same time only to rip your heart out. And it’s no surprise she had me catching my breath and on the edge of my seat not knowing which method this story would go, and hoping my heart wouldn’t obtain too bruised.Jasmine and Tyler had my emotions turned every which way. These two had my head rolling and gripping my hair for dear life. There were times I wanted to shake them both. They had me so frustrated—I just wanted them to figure things out. There’s so much history between them and even after 7 years of not seeing each other the chemistry is still there. There’s no mistaking the deep connection Jasmine and Tyler share. I damage for both of them and all the years they lost, but they required to go through what they went through in order to finally place to bed the past and move on. Watching them connect again filled my heart with happiness. They both grew a lot throughout the book, especially Jasmine. She was honest with herself and place herself and her feelings first and did what was right for her. Jasmine and Tyler’s story is an emotional rollercoaster ride, every dip and bump along the method is worth it, because in the end it just created them and their love ke Me Hate You was angst galore. Your heart will rapidly pitter-patter with anticipation of what’ll happen next. It’s emotional and will have your feelings on overdrive. It’s filled with sweet and tender moments that’ll have you swooning. Kandi did an exceptional job giving us what we’ve come to know and love from her. This book was the ultimate *chef’s kiss*

    I Hate You - Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality []  2020-6-10 20:28

This book says some unbelievably misogynist and racist things. I've included a couple images of the most egregious passages. For one, the book blames the increasing prevalence of BPD diagnoses on the "destruction of the nuclear family", divorce, increased time spent in childcare, and changing gender roles -- all things that just happen to be extremely necessary to women's economic and financial independence. And, incidentally, all things for which there is NO EVIDENCE that they contribute to mental illness in ere is also a passage where the author blames an EIGHT-YEAR-OLD CHILD for the abuse she suffered from her stepfather, literally saying that she "allowed" it to continue. This is outrageous and offense victim-blaming -- an eight-year-old does not have the mental and emotional capacity to defend herself versus an adult predator!Additionally, the author victim-blames again when citing a case of a black woman who supposedly used her "racial sensitivities" to avoid taking responsibility for her actions, the author saying that "railing versus racial discrimination was useless without a commitment to work toward changing it". This effectively states that victims of racism are responsible for ending racism and for teaching white people how to not be racist. I hope I don't have to explain why this is ridiculous and egregiously offensive.I do not understand why this book has so a lot of positive reviews. I am sickened by how misogynist and outright absurd a lot of of the claims in this book are.

But, if you're dedicated to your loved one, whomever it may be, and even if tou thjnk you don't need to read it, if you're reading this comment you should probably stop and go ahead and purchase it.

I’ve read all of Kandi’s books, and I’ve loved every single one of them, however Create Me Hate You is by far my favorite of them all. I just finished reading it and already I wish to read it again and is book hit me in all of my feels. There were points that I literally felt like I had been punched in the gut, and my heart was in my throat. And there were other moments where I was smiling so much my face hurt. This is a attractive story about second chances and love that isn’t always pretty. It can be messy and complicated, but also can be attractive and all-consuming.Kandi Steiner is an author that I know I can count on for a book that will take me on a journey. Jasmine and Tyler’s story isn’t always easy, but it’s theirs. It’s raw and real, and I know this is a book, but honestly it feels like so much more than that. I don’t know that I’ve read a book that has touched my heart like this in quite some time. I absolutely loved everything about this story, and can say that this book is without a doubt one of my top reads of 2020

    Make Me Hate You: A Best Friend's Brother Romance []  2020-6-25 18:0

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️There are moments when you read Kandi Steiner’s Create Me Hate You and you cannot support but recognize pieces of Steiner’s soul left on the page. Every moment of this story is exquisite even as it, at times, breaks your heart. To be honest, there were occasions in this book when I had to stop and read something a bit more predictable and comfortable to allay my anxiousness over Tyler and Jasmine’s journey. However, in the midst of the angst that Steiner so aptly creates, there is the beauty of a timeless love story that unravels your own soul, as I imagine it did to Steiner in putting it on the page. Every turn of the page is a fall into the undying love story of two people whom fate challenges at every turn. And every fresh page offers the promise of their moving beyond their challenges to their forever story. Steiner seems to make their romance effortlessly, reminding her readers of the brilliance of her om the first page, I was captivated by Steiner’s characterization of Jasmine and Tyler. There is a constant push and pull between these two that keeps you enthralled. I found myself holding my breath with their every meeting, wondering if they could ever work out the difficulties of their past, a past that Steiner lays out from the begin of her book. You wish Tyler and Jasmine to work, but Steiner never makes that simple on her reader. Instead, she hits at your heart over and over again, making you ask yourself why you come back time and time again for her brand of torture. And the easy respond is because she writes it beautifully, because she knows that love isn’t simple and love stories shouldn’t be either, and because the pay off of the ending is greater when the journey is fraught with the difficulties of life. I loved every moment of Jasmine and Tyler’s journey because there is a beauty in both the challenges and peaks of life. You cannot feel the depth of them without the other in contrast. Allowing yourself the opportunity to feel these moments feels decadent as you read Steiner’s Create Me Hate ertwined with Steiner’s evolution of her characters is her natural ability to put words on the page. While your heart bleeds at the strife of her characters’ story, you can’t support but fall madly in love with Steiner’s skill at stringing words together to make strong moments on the page. When she writes, “With his arms around me, I could do anything. With his arms around me, everything was whole. His arms were my home.”this repetition reads like an incantation or a prayer. Her story is spotted with these moments, and they overwhelm you as a reader just as her story catapults you forward. Highlight after highlight reveals the dream of Steiner’s writing, and it’s one of the a lot of reasons you feel compelled through the story, mining for the treasures of Steiner’s the end of Create Me Hate You, the grief of the characters’ loss over the past reminds you that we have to live in the show and put hope in the future. I think that’s one of the huge ideas behind Kandi Steiner’s newest book. Even more, Steiner utilizes one of the storylines that hits versus a bruise in my own soul; it’s one that affects me time and time again in the stories of romancelandia: the wish to be chosen, to be seen. Without spoiling anything, Tyler sees Jasmine from the start, and she knows this, but he doesn’t always choose her first. For me, that idea always tugs at my heart because we all wish to be seen and chosen first especially when we’ve not been chosen ever. In the moments of her story where Steiner capitalizes on the emotions of the human soul, you wish to both turn away and lean deeper into its truth. That really is the genius of a book such as Create Me Hate You. It makes you feel huge emotions while reminding you that love isn’t always easy, but it seems essential to living abundantly.
