Bondo Gray Filler Primer, Highly Durable & Easy to Use, 11 oz, 1 Aerosol []  2020-7-28 20:24

It works well, but you better use the whole can. I left a half can and came back the next day to finish and the nozzle was clogged. I followed the directions on the can to fox it, but it didn't work. Half a can was wasted. There are cheaper brands that won't give you this issue that work just as well.

I want I could return it. I used on a little spot and the can is literally full, but all the propellant escape. Nozzle was clear, so it was not clogged.

Pros: Amazing spray coverage, 11 oz can, affordable, Primer plus filler, affordableCons: NoneThis product is awesome. It's a primer and also a filler! I used this product to repair curb rash on a 2014 VW Passat Alloy Rims. After sanding off the curb rash, I used the Bondo Aerosol Primer to fill in the micro scratches for paint preparation. I achieved professional-like results using this product along with the Dupli-color Silver Reflex Metallic*Thank you for reading. If this was helpful please the "helpful" button.

Decent primer. High build, quick drying, simple to sand. Sprays out nicely. Amazing for spot repairs, which is what I used it for. I would this again.

Use within your return period. I used for like 2 sprays within 5 mins and then it got stuck in the begin spray position and would not stop, I tried everything, so I had to do what I could while it kept spraying.

It's amazing primer. But was only able to use it once for a little area. stored properly upright in normal temp. conditions and spray can was useless next day. seems like all the propellant drained for unknown reasons. Want I could have returned it. But didn't use for a few weeks after purchase. Is not a nozzle issue.

Very amazing product bonds very powerful to sanded chrome, metal and etc of that era but I used this 1 time and after that it doesn't spray out anymore... I was only 2 days past the 30 day return policy. I messaged the company and they were kind enough to resend me a brand fresh one! Will be shopping with you guys in the near future as you care about your customers!

This product is superior.I can't speak for this versus any other epoxy primer, for for what I used it for, results were great.I painted my grille slats body color on my F350, so I had to sand down the chrome finish on the plastic is covered the surface so evenly and easily, the project turned out to be quite a per preparation prevents @#$% not good performance

I've bought and used this brand of 2K primer before but this time the can was basically useless. After puncturing and mixing the two components, the primer came out sputtering and leaving a mess over a beautiful much ready project. Not ideal when you spend time prepping the product just to have the primer sputter on it.

I am so glad I created phone calls & researched on the internet how to properly with repairing rust & the need to use an epoxy primer when you have to sand bare metal. I had large rust stains over 40% of my truck roof, and had previously tried to repair it with regular primer, it didn’t latest the rainy winter & started rusting through the paint by summer & only spread & got worse! What a mess! I had to sand the entire center of the roof down to bare metal, feathering the large locations edges , so that it would blend. I used this epoxy primer, the only one that comes in a spray can, thank god it does! It went on beautiful smooth, and I was able to coat the whole roof with several coats & even was able to do some rusted spots on my bumper! Looks good, dried over the day & then painted it. The only issue I had was that paint cans drip, so have a towel to wipe the sprayer often, or it will obtain drops on your paint & you may be able to sand them out a little, but you’ll see that in your finished paint job 😬. It works though & just in time that I got it done before several huge massive rain storms. Still looks amazing & durable, thanks for making an epoxy primer in a spray can, otherwise it wouldn’t have been possible to repair myself! 🤘♥️💁‍♀️🎅

I had not used a 2K spray can before. It is interesting. You first need to be aware that once you pop the bottom and mix the elements you are on a clock and you have maybe 1-2 days to use the product before it solidifies in the can. It took a considerable amount of pressure to pop the bottom cap and start the mixing process. I could not do it by hand, and had to set it on the ground and push down with my weight. It sprays beautiful well and has a comfortable sprayer. It was not compatible with my clip on trigger spray handle that I would use with a typical Krylon can. I did have one part where it did not wish to stick very well. It was a slightly flexible, thin plastic part (shown on the right in the photo). I think this product would be amazing for non-flexing parts, but bendable or parts would pose an problem for adhesion. Sanding was simple and the paint helped fill in little divits and holes. I used three to four coats with sanding between and completely eliminated texture on automotive underhood plastic parts. Sorry about the photo, but I didn't take one of just the primered and sanded parts.

Simple to use bottom puncture releases hardener/catalyst. Paint sprayed well. Coverage is about 1/2 a normal spray can, one light coat on one side of a truck firewall took the entire can. My other concern is did the hardener/catalyst really release, no method to tell.

    Corroseal Water-Based Rust Converter Metal Primer, Rust Converter - 1 Qt []  2020-1-22 23:5

Just used this on my 1994 Jeep floorboards. My Jeep spent most of its life salt-free in Wyoming, so its a rare Wrangler with no structural ever, it had some rust on the drivers side floorboard from water getting in and pooling there under the o applications of Corroseal turned all the rust black and created a primer-like surface. I spray painted Rustoleum bedliner overtop of it and did the underside just for a small added e results look amazing (in rough and ready Jeep with patina terms :). ). I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t stand the try of time. It is hard to imagine any rust getting going again. Rather expect the water to just puddle on the surface and be easily drained or wiped up.

I was concerned with some of the negative reviews here, BUT... I got this anyway, AND... This items seems GREAT. So here is the way to the madness: I was using it on an old farm running gear that had been in the ding weeds for eons. Obtain the barnacle rust off. Do not grind down to bare metal. Just steel [email protected]#$%! to obtain scale off. This product converted all solid surface rust to a hard black enamel within mins to hours. It goes on simple like milk. Place it on with a brush. Coat evenly. DO NOT place left over product back into bottle as it will compromise the remainder. Use whatever you pour out. I painted over it a few days later with industrial oil enamel by brush. Looks brand new. ALSO, do not leave whatever you are working on out in the rain. It will turn back to white until it cures again. But that's a NO brainer to most of us. Not sure how long it lasts...? But I'm guessing I won't have to do this again for a lot of years from the looks of how well it worked and how hard it created the surface rust. I used it on the rims too. Excellent outcome so far. Allow me know if this was helpful to you :-) Simply put, IT WORKS!

Really Like This Product. Used it for front step Iron Railings. The railings look the best they ever have. Sanded them first with a brush-screwgun type sander then power washed them and allow dry. Then Corrosealed. They came out amazing - I almost did not need to paint the black with rustoleum paint but painted them later anyway. I Hope this lasts for a amazing number of so, this product was amazing for garden statues created of metal. I've posted two squirrels statues I had. One coated with Corroseal, the other without. What a difference. The Corroseal coated statue came out jet black and looks nice. The image shows one with and the other without corroseal. No paint.

I used this exactly as directed the results were less than stellar. I gave it plenty of time to cure properly and then I top coated it with Rustoleum Professional Enamel paint. The zone that I "converted" and painted was behind the bumper on my 2001 Cherokee. I chipped all huge rust flakes off and hit it with a wire brush to ensure no flakes were left behind. I sprayed it down with the hose and allow it sit in the sun for hours to ensure it was dry before I applied the e product is simple enough to use, just pour into a container and brush on. It's also simple to tell when you have proper coverage, after that it's a waiting game. I waited probably a week before top coating because I wanted to be sure the product had time to fully cure, the recommendation is to top coat within 30 days of application. It certainly looked much better when it was finished, but it didn't keep up well at ter another few days of waiting for the Rustoleum to fully cure, I installed the bumper. This is where the product fell short unfortunately. Instead of simply scratching, like one would expect from a normal paint applied to a primer, which is essentially how this product is advertised, it started to peel off in sheets anywhere there was minor abrasion. Underneath there was still rust. Perhaps it converts the very, very top layer of rust and encapsulates it, but it certainly isn't doing much beyond that.If you don't need any abrasion resistance where you're applying this, you might be okay. If the zone is going to see any wear and tear I think I would keep out for a various product.

I bought this to clean up the rusty wheels on my car. I watched the YT video pf Gempler's reps restoring a rusty wheel with this same rust converter. I did exactly what the woman did in the video with the prep and application. I even allowed this to dry an additional 2 days before putting two medium massive coats of Rust-Oleum flat e wheels were rust for two weeks, but I was hoping to obtain a few years. Then small dots of red and brown rust started to poke thru the surface. Next summer I will have to strip them down, sand-blast, acid wash them and powder coat them.... like I should have done from the beginning.

This is a amazing product, as others have said. I'm writing this review to provide some additional info for those who are applying Corroseal:I am in the process of applying the product to wrought-iron patio furniture. The consistency of the product is quite thin, but it must be applied in a massive layer to locations of rust. This means you cannot apply it to vertical surfaces as you would paint (it will drip off and not seal) - instead, you need to apply it to flat surfaces only, and therefore will need to reposition an object after the initial coat sets so that you can coat other surfaces. In my case, this means coating the seat of the chair, waiting for it to dry, laying the chair flat to coat its back, and so forth. I've been using a little sponge brush which is doing a very amazing job. The product dries fairly quickly and, as others have said, performs alchemy. Usual precautions, clean up with soap and water.

Solid rust converter. Related to other converters but water based and less expensive. It's my private favorite, and I have literally tried them all after twenty plus years.Rather than cover location other reviewers have shared, allow me just share a few hints on how to use Corroseal effectively.Tip one, use a needle scaler. A lot of of the "failed" images here it's obvious that this necessary step was missed. Only a needle scaler (or chipping hammer if you have the patience) will remove layered rust. A wire brush or sandpaper will not remove layers. Begin with a needle scaler.Tip two, sand paper. Wire brushes can gloss over the rust and make a burnished layer. Use sand paper to expose and remove loose rust.Tip three, don't use oil based cleaners before application. Also don't use soap...duh, YouTube people. Rubbing alcohol is and works well for this step.Tip four, apply in a thick layer. This might just be the most valuable hint I can share on Corroseal. Don't just brush on a layer and leave. Brush on a layer, wait 15 mins and then brush on another. Wait 15 mins again and brush on another layer. Most applications fail or develop brown spots on top because the product was not applied thick enough. Be generous with it, lay it on thick.

    Corroseal Water-Based Rust Converter Metal Primer, Rust Converter - 1 Gal []  2020-1-20 20:32

I have a 15 year old utility trailer which sits outside in the elements in south central Florida. Needless to say it is beautiful rusty. In fact I was going to give it away and a fresh one. Then I ran across this product and decided to give it a try. Also I decided to do this in July and August which is our rainy season and very hot and humid conditions. So I place the trailer on blocks so I could obtain under it. Then I pressure cleaned it. Also I did some grinding with a wire brush attachment on my cordless drill. And sanding mostly on the fenders which were the worst. Then I began applying the Corroseal. Mostly I applied it with foam brushes. When it interacts with the rust it turns purplish black, otherwise just black. If it rains that which has been applied that day will tend to turn milky white but then as the moisture dries out of it - it turns purplish black again. It never rained until the Corroseal I applied had been set up for at least a couple of hours. Actually it only rained on my party a couple of times - probably three. Then when I applied DoItBest's ver of Rustoleum over the Corroseal. I used flat black which actually came out very nice. There was a little hole in one fender and I chop out a piece of galvanized sheet metal I had laying aroung and epoxied it over the hole.

I applied this on my burglar bars, then painted over some of them with oil-based rust corrosion paint. Now, 4 weeks later, the rust has come through. On some other bars 2 weeks later, where I had applied only this product, without paint, the rust is coming through exactly the same. I also applied some to my truck bumper, and the rust came through and is spreading.

No paint.

I used this items inside a roof after cutting out a “small” rust hole with a wire wheel only to search out the entire inner seam of the roof was rusting. I ended up cutting a 4”x2” section out to search clean metal and had to decide between replacing the entire roof or converting the rust on this 1970 Camaro. This items goes FAST and sprays a super massive volume with the hose. If you’re using it on a frame more than 4 for the whole frame, hopefully this converts and seals the rust as it said, but it laid down easily. This items is super sticky and dries FAST, it’s disgusting to work with and super messy so use gloves and mask up anything you don’t wish getting green. Overall, I’m very surprised as to how quick this items started working and how quickly it settled after multiple coats, I mean I just finished laying down the latest coat about 20 mins ago. In a day or so I’m going to use an HVLP gun and spray bomb some epoxy into those locations with the chop out I made, then cavity wax on top of that, before welding the patch I chop out. If there is an zone that is already prone to rust, use this items and lay down multiple coats. It took 3 coats but I noticed that it started to leak into the seams heavily. If there is rust anywhere, this items will search it and soak over it, just create sure you enough of it.

It does its job, and does coat the inside of your frame rail. I'll come back and modernize this post in 25 years if my vehicle starts to rust. The only thing that bugged me about this product is that the tube that you use to feed into the frame rail is very stiff, and its difficult to tell if its going where you need it to be, or if its coiling around on itself.

Rust Converter, a water-based primer, includes two active ingredients: Tannic acid and an organic polymer. The first ingredient, tannic acid, reacts with iron oxide (rust) and chemically converts it to iron tannate, a dark-colored stable material. Tannins are a group of water- and alcohol-soluble natural products extracted from fruits, trees and [email protected]#$%!&. The second active ingredient, 2-Butoxyethanol, is an organic polymer that provides a protective primer layer. The overall chemical reaction converts rust into a stable, black protective polymeric coating that serves as an perfect primer for both oil and epoxy based paints.

I used this product on the tip of Catalina Direct's DVD on refinishing a C-22 sailboat keel. I removed all the rust that I could from the cast iron keel with a 4.1/2" Makita angle grinder down to bare metal. There were pitted locations that resembled tooth decay that could not be accessed, so those were left as-is. I painted one side of the keel with 81773 Rust Treatment and allowed it to dry. It turned the keel into a attractive black color and I was excited about the results. However, the next day it seemed the surface was fragile. Attempts to "roughen" the surface in preparation for an epoxy barrier coat saw the product flaking off at the locations where it was applied over bare metal. At this point I was skeptical and decided to do a try (as I had a lot of more layers of different epoxy and body filling products yet to be applied). I applied a 12"x12" square of West System 105/205 marine epoxy over a sample zone and allowed it to cure. I then came back with different tools to test to remove the epoxy. I was absolutely amazed at the quality of the bond. I was able to scratch down to the bare metal with a screwdriver and mallet, but attempts to "lift" the epoxy off the metal were utter failures. I tried using paint scrapers and even a razor scraper. The epoxy itself would fail before the bond to the metal, and I am convinced that the product works as advertised. I don't pretend to be a chemist, but I believe the epoxy either penetrated the Permatex product or absorbed it into the epoxy. A lot of users have complained that it's not for automotive bodywork. I don't believe this is correct. The product is not suitable for direct exposure to the elements. It needs a primer of some sort over it before paint can be applied. My experience was with epoxy, and I would predict that an epoxy primer would suffice, but other types might work as well. Unfortunately, the Permatex www service is near useless when looking for answers. I'd say to try a section and see what happens.

I required to spray the inside of fresh sections of frame I had welded on at a local shop. I didn't wish them to rust out like the sections that just got replaced. Everything went fairly well with the spraying, but when I was done I wondered what to do with the line and nozzle. I was afraid when the paint dried it would clog them up, making this a one time use sort of thing. Of course 1/2 the can is still left, so that would feel like a waste. Sadly, the solution is right on the can. They wish you to another product that you hook up to spray out the line and nozzle to clean it. Not a amazing e can nozzle was also broken when I got it. Not unusable. Just part of the bottom broke off. Thin, brittle plastic. Still worked out OK though.

Worked well for coating inside of Jeep frame. Hose had taken a coiled set from storage, but I was able to straighten it out enough for it to work.

I appreciate being able to a product like this to solve rust issues in difficult places.I used it on the inside of my truck frame and it worked e protection to avoid coming into private contact. Rust proofing yourself would not be good.

Three cans covered all of the frame and interconnecting parts. I added a stiff wire to the spray tube in to control the nozzle direction a small more accurately. Plenty of content from three cans. Doubt I could cover all I did with two cans.

Seems like a product that will do the job ''' Simple enough to apply with the Slim nozzle that is attached,,this will reach into the smallest locations that you may have \time will tell it's properties of durability and protection .I found that the app was a breeze, following the directions that was listed, ++the con' side, is that you should really avoid overspray - and back'spray, /coming in contact. it will adhere like so, the odors that it gives off, you should definitely work to avoid. ///// cover up , and mask!

It's hard to rate the overall quality of this without waiting a few years to see if it does what it's supposed to. What I CAN tell you, is more than you think you need; especially if you're thinking of it like a can of spray paint. When you use the tube and 4-nozzle deal, liquid flows out FAST. I got two cans of this for the main frame rails of a short wheel-base jeep, thinking I'd use one can for the 1st coat, and then maybe do a 2nd coat later. I JUST barely managed to obtain one frame rail per can, and I sped up a bit towards the end of each rail as I felt the can getting 's not a tag versus them, and they're not short-changing us with can fills. Just be aware that they spray alot of volume. I'm hoping that means it laid down thick and I won't need a 2nd coat.

does not go very far, not worth 25$. For a 1/2 ton truck you will likely need 2 cans per corner and you might have enough to obtain the middle if you're lucky. sprayer nozzle does not work all that well, doesn't reach very deep into locations 12-14 inches at most

With the app tube this thing is great! Rinsed the tube out with brake cleaner and created a second pass. Very satisfied. Did the cab corners on my 86 Ranger with the greatest of ease. Prospector 03 in Wabash, IN

This items is beautiful messy but works amazing so far. I’m restoring an old 1964 vehicle and sprayed this in the doors, inside rocker panels, inside the quarter panels and wheel wells. This paint flows into all the locations it finds and then hardens to rock solid paint that fills the cracks and seams. It leaks from all the locations it can flow into so be ready to clean it off the locations you don’t wish it on and do it quickly. It sealed the pinch weld locations between the rocker panels and the quarter panels where the old vehicles usually rust from just from moisture. I’m hoping it keeps the rust away. I also plan to spray it all over the floor pans and trunk pans inside and under the vehicle then top coat it with the rubber undercoating from Eastwood. Wear a respirator and watch out for over spray this items is nasty and misty. Smells for days.. I placed tarps and blankets on all the locations I didn’t wish to obtain it on. Also the green is much easier to see what has been coated. Only complaints I have is it is expensive and goes quick when used with the hose but if it keeps the rust away then it’s worth every penny. Amazing product if it holds up over the years. Buy more than you think you will need.
