Loved this so much. The only issue is that every time I this for myself, I end up giving it away as a gift. I have ordered at least 7 of them. Its a strong poem and the artwork on the pages are s a must have to hold or give away as a gift. If you do it for yourself, and end up needing a latest min bonus ideas( for a coworkers latest day of work or mates bday) you can give it away...and another one.
I was disappointed by this book . I had read a glowing review and bought 3 copies; one for me and 2 for my daughter's for Mother's day. It wasn't at all what I expected and so was unable to give them as gifts. I would like to return them. I wouldn't even consider it a poetry book , but more of a commentary of other topics . It is really hard to even search the poems among all the other stuff.
Maya is a unbelievable writer that has the God-given bonus of touching the hearts and minds of people with her words that, consequently. stir our souls to seek out a better understanding of ourselves and our world! this is a must-have book for your collection.
Maya Angelou was an American poet, a amazing memoirist, and civil rights activist that helped influence the world. She was a powerful, yet attractive voice to the voiceless. Her works have been deemed some of the most attractive works of art, providing the wisdom and hope all people look for. The four poems within the collection, “Phenomenal Woman: Four Poems Celebrating Women” is definitely a keeper because she gives you all walks of life as a woman in which she actually experienced firsthand in one single book. Maya Angelou’s book, “Phenomenal Woman” is one of her best works that I think every girl, no matter the color of her skin, should have in their collection because it helps young women to face adversities, build an identity, and appreciate why we are all special and special. Although the book goes in a various when reading, I would like to start with “Our Grandmothers” to set the foundation connecting history to the present. This poem told the story of generations of women that faced adversities in to save and help their children. I believe this poem demonstrates how grandmothers and mothers are a critical asset to the family. It briefly begins with the stage of a mother enslaved en route to save her kids knowing that she would be the sacrifice for their freedom. It further names amazing African-American women who came before us, who sacrificed and laid down a foundation of strength, which allowed a lot of of us to be here today. It finally connects the dots to the “grandmothers” and adversities we see in today’s generation; still yet these women are being an angel to their families, even though they struggle to provide in a time and age where the “system” is still versus them. The poem “Weekend Glory” is definitely a must read because in today’s society, we see young women with a lack of priorities. These young ladies would rather flaunt and impress people while living above their means than conduct themselves as ladies. They struggle with low self-esteem and insecurities that they “bandage” with fancy cars, clothing, and glamour while still being unhappy. This poem can definitely teach young women how to strive for more, have priorities, and still have fun. This collection of poems should also be because it helps young women to build a powerful identity no matter what society says or test to do to break them down. In the poem “Still I Rise”, Maya demonstrates with her strong voice no matter what is thrown your way, said, or physically/mentally breaks you down, you will still rise and overcome. I believe this poem is also very necessary due to what is going on in current society with the killing of innocent black men, women, boys and girls. This poem was referred to as the “Black Anthem” by writer Hermene Hartman in 2014. This poem still applies to today’s complications in which Maya fought so hard to resolve before her death. This poem teaches us to persevere, be patient, strong, and continue to be the hopes and dreams of our ancestors. In closing, the final poem, “Phenomenal Woman” is my favorite because it taught me no matter how various I am, to appreciate and embrace my differences because it makes me unique. This poem is what allowed me to be begin with myself and build my own foundation. I love myself for the country, tall, skinny, kinky hair QUEEN that I am. This is a book for all women to pass down from generation to generation, and yet the words of this book remains as strong and meaningful as when they were first written by our dear beloved Maya Angelou. So of course, I recommend the purchasing of this collection.
Everything I expected from this awesome lady. Bought one as a bonus and another to keep. Her poetry is simple to read and real to life. If anyone gets a possibility - see the film How to Create an American Quilt with Wynona Ryder. Maya is one of the stars and tells her life story. It's a attractive film, very female oriented and gives some insight into the lives of very various women and how they became what they are presently.
Lovely application and nice features. I like that it enables highlights. I will be using this more with my other Religious, Bible, Resources thanks for this resource it gives me a positive method to spend my time. This also helps me take helpful notes that I may otherwise forget.
I am just starting out on this unbelievable amazing journey and this everyday Bible is exactly what I needed. I can take it everywhere, I have fun reading it on my lunch at work, waiting in lines or at the doctor's office. Thank you!
This application is soo great. It has a morning & evening devotion. It explains what the verse means or at least what they obtain out of it. & it has a fresh one everyday. I love it! Excellent for when I'm not able to read my bible & feel like I need to read God's word.
The layout of the application looks nice but the scripture part and the rest of it are difficult to understand. Can developers pls provide an option to select what type of Bible translation customers like, such as NIV, ESV, etc. Thanks.
