Sink Top Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Disposal Button with Aluminum Alloy Control Module (SHORT ANTIQUE BRASS BUTTON) by CLEESINK []  2020-6-19 19:56

One of my favorite purchases in fresh kitchen renovation. No exaggeration, took less than 15 mins to install this ingenious thing, after converting my switch to an outlet under the sink. Does exactly what it is supposed to do! No more switch confusion!

This review is for the wireless garbage disposal switch. When I bought it I wasn't sure how I'd like the button on my counter because it's not as sleek and elegant as more traditional air switches that require you to drill a hole in your counter. But this was quick and very simple and very affordable so I gave it a shot. But when I got the switch I decided to play around with the placement and ultimately decided not to place it on my counter top. Instead I place it in the top drawer by my sink, right on the back of the drawer face so it doesn't interfere with drawer usage. It's totally out of sight there, works fine and doesn't really take up any space. I think this switch is amazing and the best put for it is in a drawer or in a cabinet or maybe mounted to the bottom of a cabinet if you have cabinets above your tom line is that you can place the switch virtually anywhere and it will work fine. I am very picky but I am extremely satisfied with this switch and can't recommend this product highly enough!

So. I was very curious about buying this. I looked at so a lot of online and in stores. But decided to test this one. I got the white to match our cabinets. And I mounted under the sink cause i don’t wanna drill a hole in my quarts. But it probably took me less than 10 mins to install begin to finish. And it came with everything I needed. Works like a charm. And the wife is so satisfied now. I highly recommend it. So much safer than an electrical switch. I showed my father in law this evening and he just ordered one too. Amazing job guys. Quality product for sure

The box comes with the actuator module, a bit of rubber tube, and the button stallation is quite literally plug and play. The garbage disposal plugs into the actuator module which is connected via tube to the button. Push once to turn on, push again to turn off.Other products cost a lot more for the same thing. So far, this is working amazing for much much less.

Sink Top Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Disposal Button with Aluminum Alloy Control Module (SHORT ANTIQUE BRASS BUTTON) by CLEESINK []  2020-6-19 19:56

I recently installed a garbage disposal in my sink which didn't have a disposal before. I was able to remove the built-in soap dispenser in my granite countertop and install this switch instead. I chose the longer model and if you aren't sure I can't really see a situation where the longer model would be too long. The threads go the whole method up the shaft so you can just screw it as tight as you need. The button looks nice and works quickly. It's also safer since the button uses air instead of electricity up at the countertop level.

Sink Top Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Disposal Button with Aluminum Alloy Control Module (SHORT ANTIQUE BRASS BUTTON) by CLEESINK []  2020-6-19 19:56

My choices were to install a fresh wall switch (lots of work) or go with this solution since my old disposal was the mag switch type (to operate you push the magnetic sink plug in from the top. No external switch was required). This unit was relatively simple to install. The trickiest part was finding the right zone to drill a hole in the counter top for the plunger button. I had to add an outlet and outlet cover to the power junction box under the sink since one did exist there previously. Alternatively I could have direct wired the air switch through the junction box by cutting off the outlet plug. I went with the outlet so I could add a ground fault detection. (See images for installation). This solution takes up a bit of zone but since it’s all under the sink and on the back wall it’s not is is what is called a latching switch which means you push the plunger switch and the unit stays on until you push the plunger switch again. This catches some people off guard at first but you obtain it after a couple is is a cool product I wasn’t aware of previously. Nice!

Sink Top Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Disposal Button with Aluminum Alloy Control Module (SHORT ANTIQUE BRASS BUTTON) by CLEESINK []  2020-6-19 19:56

Works well. Do not coil up the excess hose between the button and the control module, as that will create the switch unreliable. Coiling must impede the air pressure to the control module somehow. Either chop the excess hose or route it out of the method without too much bending.Update October 24:After the glowing report, the button started acting up, failing to actuate the switch. Tried cutting the excess air tube, thinking the excess tube length is still causing problems. This worked for a couple of days before the issue returned. This evening the switch failed completely, with the sink button failing to come back up. It turns out, the threaded plastic housing near the sink switch developed a crack and broke off. It must have been just my luck to obtain a weak plastic part. I can't imagine having stressed the plastic part enough during the install to cause this failure. Contacted the seller with images and a request for a replacement. The thing had only been in service for a month before it broke. The seller has agreed to send out a replacement switch at no charge. For this goodwill gesture, they obtain to hold their five stars.

Sink Top Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Disposal Button with Aluminum Alloy Control Module (SHORT ANTIQUE BRASS BUTTON) by CLEESINK []  2020-6-19 19:56

These countertop air switches are the best thing since sliced bread. When I remodeled my kitchen I place one of these in, it was a no-brainier!There's always 2 switches next to the sink, one doing the disposal, one doing the light, and no one ever remembers which is which! Instead, I converted the disposal switch into an additional outlet (you can always use additional outlets in the kitchen!) and place the air switch in.I chop a hole into the granite myself. The switch itself is exactly 1 1/4" in diameter. I drilled a standard 1 3/8" hole that is used for faucets just because its the same size I used for the faucet and soap dispenser. The button fit just fine and tightened down to where it doesn't is kit has a latching button, meaning you [email protected]#$%! once to begin the disposal, and press it again to stop it. Very simple to use, and looks very clean and classy! My only concern is that its a finished plastic instead of actual stainless steel, but it would be simple to replace and it still looks unbelievable on my countertop. The price was amazing too.

Home Depot wants something like $60 for the ISE ver of this. The only difference I can tell is that they have two outlets, in case you ... wish two outlets ... under the sink ...?I just installed this, it was quite simple and plenty of cord and hose are included (you could probably chop the hose if you had too much). They give you these cute small 1/4" screws to mount it with ... those went straight to the garage with my other orphaned fasteners and I subbed them for longer screws that wouldn't pull out if I sneezed too hard next to the sink. Aside from that, there isn't much to say about this: it works, for now.

This thing is excellent for those who don't wish to tear up their walls in order to install an outlet somewhere close to the sink. Not to mention it's technology is kind of neat. The button works through air pressure of all things. It's so easy to install , it took me no more that 5 minutes. All I did was decide where in the kitchen sink cabinet I wanted the outlet, the n screwed it (the outlet) to the back wall. I then bore a huge enough hole to let the button to fit through snugly, attached the tightening bolt on the back. Then I bore another hole going out of the far corner of the cabinet for the power cable to slip through and then pulled it through and plugged it into wall socket that was already there. DONE!! I turned on the water and shoved some try meal into the disposal and pressed the air switch and it was like magic, worked perfectly and totally love that I didn't have to rewire anything to obtain this to turn my disposal off and on. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to ANYONE who either needs a easy install or does not wish to do any rewiring. Oh yes and allow me not forget to tell you, that this products quality is exactly the same as the insinkerators ver of the same switch that goes for almost $60.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

I wasn't able to install this until recently, so it is past the return window. Initially it worked great. It is very quiet and works exactly as it should. But it only worked for 2 weeks before it started leaking! Nothing that isn't supposed to go into the drain was place down there but it started to back up. I tried the disposal and it would just spin the water in the sink. Then one morning I woke up to a flooded kitchen. I hired a plumber and he advised that it needs to be replaced. I am very unhappy with this product.UPDATE04/24/2018I replaced the original unit under the warranty. To Waste King's credit, the warranty was honored and the process was relatively easy to complete. BUT the fresh disposal is a huge wet turd just like the first one! It leaks, backs up and does not work as it should. I am going to buy a various brand and replace this piece of junk. It is a complete waste of cash and hassle.I would also like to add that I DO NOT place anything huge down the drain. No egg shells, oils, potato skin, vegetables, meal chunks, nothing! I have tried to be as delicate as possible with this thing and it still gives me issues.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

I decided to take a possibility on this L-8000 sink disposal unit due to the outstanding reviews. My previous unit was 1/2 horsepower and would jam if someone chop a loud fart. When it began to leak water from the motor impeller seal, I decided it had to go. Unfortunately, the first Waste King L-8000 I ordered came in a cardboard box with no styrofoam inside and had a crack in the outer plastic housing and the motor unit was bent sideways. I thought it was beautiful silly to send a 5 kg unit in a box with no padding. So, I used Amazon's return/re-order service and unit #2 arrived three days later, also in a box with no padding. Fortunately, this unit was not cracked and I installed it following the included directions (and the video here at Amazon). It took me about 1 hour to remove my ole' unit and place in the L-8000. One thing I might say is that using some silicon sealant around the rubber o-ring that joins the drain pipe to the side of the Waste King is probably a amazing idea. I then tested out the L-8000 on ice cubes, vegetables and eventually chicken bones. There is a rude neighbor who lives next door with loud dogs that he releases at 6 AM in the morning (WTF is he thinking), and I would like to see if the L-8000 could process him, .... but I digress. All stuff inserted so far, got shredded with no issues and the sound was about the same as my old unit (which is neither quiet nor loud). I am only on my first week with the unit, so I will continue to modernize this review as the months (and hopefully, years) pass. I really like the Simple Mount setup and I am glad the power cord is already included and attached. That said, the plastic housing of the unit does not seem held on very tightly and I want they had a better system to mount with the drain pipe. So far, things are looking amazing and I sure hope they begin mailing these troops in a box with a bunch of padding. 4 stars for now.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5XP, 3/4 HP Continuous Feed []  2020-8-20 20:19

After reading a lot of reviews of the two basic models of the Insinkerator, I began to realize that the basic "quietness" of the more expensive model was likely due primarily to the sink drain insert that can be bought as an accessory for the considerably cheaper Badger model.I was replacing an old Sears disposer that was created by Insinkerator and its profile was more narrow just like the Badger's. It appeared to me that my piping layout was not going to let for the wider profile (larger diameter) of the Evolution (likely due to more sound insulation), so I decided to go with the Badger, save a hundred bucks, and probably wind up with a quieter disposer than I was used to.I created the right decision: it fit in the allotted space, it was super smooth, quieter than my old one without the sink drain insert, and SUPER QUIET with the drain insert in place. Score one for me!

Me and garbage deposals have a love/hate relationship. After I drove the latest one to the edge, I knew I required something with more horsepower. Funny how one-quarter extra hp makes the device. I've beautiful much place everything but artichoke leaves into this and it just chews them up and spits them out. [Notice: do not place artichokes leaves in a non-commercial garbage disposal - it'll cost a lot to obtain fixed and makes one hell of a mess.] We also seem to have a tendency to turn the water off too soon. Doesn't seem to phase this machine. It was also simple to install as long as you have a second set of hands to keep up the unit to connect it to the sink coupling.

BESTILL Sink Top Air Switch Kit for Garbage Disposal, Brushed Gold (Long Button with Brass Cover) []  2020-6-14 20:37

I normally don’t obtain excited about plumbing items, but I love this thing. We replaced our kitchen faucet with a fresh oil rubbed bronze faucet and had an additional hole in the countertop. I decided it would be the excellent put to place an air switch. Ours is metal and the finish matches my faucet and soap dispenser perfectly, a dark, almost black bronze with copper edges. Even though the original flip switch is close by, I love the placement and convenience of the push button. We’ve had it a few days, you do not have to keep down the button for the disposal to work. You simply push the button to begin it and push the button again to stop it.

Child Safe Garbage Disposal Light Switch Lock | Guard Children Protect With Push and Slide Switch []  2020-1-29 16:39

We just moved into a fresh apartment with a garbage disposal - the sink is on an island and the switch is on the side of that island about waist height. We just had a newborn and while she is WAY too young to be walking and getting into things - all I could do was fixate on how risky that switch will be when she's mobile. We were looking for a solution that a) Wouldn't be simple for a toddler to figure out - they can be intelligent small buggers and b) even if they could figure it out, it wouldn't be simple for them to utilize. This product was the answer! It's not super obvious like other lightswitch covers I've seen and it isn't simple for a toddler to use. There is considerable resistance on the switch that a toddler would search difficult! And the springback feature is amazing because the switch can never be left on! As soon as you release the mechanism, it springs back and turns the switch off!

This garbage disposal is the largest piece of junk. It should have been so simple to just lift it into put and turn the unit to lock into place. After 3 hours working on this install the best satisfaction was putting it back in the box and making a trip to the garbage can to throw it away. I then went to Home Depot and bought a badger went home and had it installed in about 20 min. Don't buy this product.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5, 1/2 HP Continuous Feed []  2021-3-17 21:14

So I originally had the Badger 1 and it lasted me 10 years without giving me any problems till the end. So I decided to stick with the same brand and it's now about a month later and it is working amazing so far. Not sure if my old model slowly crept up in noise level over the years that I didn't realize it but this fresh one is quieter. My brother in law is handier so he switched out the old one and it was a fairly simple process. The connectors, lines and sink opening were all the same so there was no need to reinvent the wheel or sink. Hope someone reads this far cause fair warning to MAKE SURE you remove the plug for the dishwasher connector. It comes with a plug that will prevent dishwasher from draining unless you remove it. I was lucky that I saw that in instructions and a previous review had created mention of it. Also a nice surprise is some disposals don't come with a power cord. Not sure why that's a thing but again, glad I read some reviews and saw to create sure I got one with a power cord already connected. My original cheap ver Badger 1 lasted 10 years and i'll be glad if this next model up lasts me 10 years too.

Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) []  2021-3-17 21:15

This was written by my handy-husband: We bought this to replace an ISE Badger 5 which had lasted 20+ years with light use. Installation looked very related to the ISE. It first needed removing the old sink flange and installing the Waste King sink flange. The sink flange was thicker and the fit was poor, with a lip that stuck up inside the sink which would prevent complete drainage. Going ahead with the installation everything went well until trying to connect the "twist and lock" part to top of the disposal. Tried the one hand lifting the disposal the other at the top twisting the ring. That didn't work, so I place blocks and wedges under it to keep it up steady and perfectly aligned. Still unable to engage the "twist and lock" with the small knobs on the top of the disposal. Reread instructions, disassembled and reassembled the parts, watched installation videos, then tried again. It just wouldn't go together. I returned it and bought an ISE which really was "quick and simple to install". PS: the Waste King doesn't have a method to rotate it back in case of jams, ISE comes with a wrench for that.

I have an old InSinkErator FWD-1, and it started to leak from the bottom. Did my research, and was about to obtain a Badger 1 from Home Deport, but did don't carry it in-store, and have to wait for 5 day shipment. The only model they had in-store @#$%!84, checked on Amazon, and Waste King L-111 had amazing reviews, went on Youtube, people just had amazing things to say about this. Ordered it here, same day (on a Sat) delivery, paid additional $9+, and it was still cheaper than Home stallation was a breeze, the EZ Mount just pops in without any screws (no 3 bolts). The only problem I had was the disposal connection to the outlet, it was not aligned. I got a couple of 45° elbows, but that did not work out. I realize that by just easing the pipe a small because the Cushion Mount is flexible the pipe would align. See pictures. It's only a day old, I'll modernize once I've used it more.

Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/3 HP []  2021-4-11 23:29

I am probably the only one that had troubles installing this. I required to replace a leaking Insinkerator that caused beautiful extensive hurt to the under sink cabinet, so wanted to go with a various brand as reviews indicate this is a common issue with the Badgers. I had issues getting the rubber gasket to seat properly. I thought I did, but the metal ring would never come down far enough to catch the two prongs at the top of the disposal. After an hour, and the third attempt at seating the gasket, I noticed the metal ring came down much farther that time. Enough that I could EASILY lift it up and turn it into place. So if you have the same issue I had, just hold reseating the gasket until the metal ring comes down far enough you can see through where the prongs are supposed to go. Once I did that, it was simple peasy. Much quieter than the Insinkerator Badger that it replaced, and takes up much less space. Very happy with my purchase and now that I know the proper method of installation, I wouldn't hesitate to obtain another one. Thus still the 5-star review, but man, the instructions could definitely be improved upon.

Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/3 HP []  2021-4-11 23:29

I had a Badger, or Ace equivalent that got jammed. I took it apart to clear the jam and when I place it back together, it leaked. Even after I took it back off and place it together again. It was so much problem getting it lined up and together correctly, especially since I have a tight zone and no wiggle room for the drain connector, and my other drain pipes are for some reason, glued together. I was not looking forward to doing this a third time when I found this Waste King on Amazon. It is about half the cost of a replacement Badger, lighter, slimmer, and has a cord already attached. I took the old one out, studied the fresh one and looked over the instructions. It is logical and simple to follow. I have a composite sink, and my plumber's putty was dried out, so I used silicone to seal the drain ring, as a lot of people seem to be doing nowadays. It all went together easily, much easier than the old Badger 3-ring style, and locked into place. It lined up exactly with my drain line and dishwasher hose and works perfectly. The only reason for 4 stars is that it has no put for a hex wrench to clear clogs. You have to go in through the top, but at least the splash guard is removable, so it's not too difficult. Also, you can purchase a tool that goes in through the top at Home Depot that has a handle you can turn, so there's no need to use a wooden dowel. The hex hole would have been an simple inclusion, and I have no idea why they left it off.

This garbage disposal requires that you use the sink drain trim piece attached to the disposal. It's created into the disposal assembly and cannot be removed. The trim is super shiny chrome with "WASTE KING" written all over it. It cannot be replaced with any trim that matches your sink and looks horrendously tacky. Most sinks are not chrome finish so it will not match and will only draw attention to the ugly trim piece since it is so shiny and has the brand stamped all over it. Returning before even installing.

So to begin I'm a 28 year old female . For some reason I obtain stuck doing all the plumbing in the house so when someone ran the garbage disposal with a rag down there it broke my insinkerator. It was old and dull and definitely in need of replacing. So I did some research and ordered this one after going to my nearest home depot. They cheapest one they had was 89.99 and then they went up. So I ended up ordering this one and it fit well with the existing piping that was ran. The only little problem I had was it was a small difficult to obtain the disposal itself up on to the brackets to keep it into place. It took my husband's support because I just wasnt powerful enough to keep it into put and turn it at the same time. That's about it. I didnt really need directions considering I took apart my old one and then figured out I required a fresh one. But they were handy when putting the black rubber ring on. Run smooth. Less noisy than the old one. No issues so far.

Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/2 HP []  2020-1-28 2:33

I subtracted 1 star because of 2 minor inconvieniences, I think both similar to the EZ-Mount thing. #1 was the paper thin rubber gasket which is suppose to deal the sink. The very second I saw this flimsy donut, I got worried. There's just not enough rubber to squeeze into any imperfections to achieve a deal. Making it twice as thick and more squishy would work. But not having plumbers putty for Plan B (actually suggested in the instructions, so maybe Waste King doesn't have faith in this rubber either), I went ahead with the EZ way. After proper tightening, I noticed instructions suggested filling sink at this point for a leak check. Sure enough, my initial fear was correct. The thin rubber just isn't enough for anything but a 100% excellent sink and install. It leaked enough to be a problem. So take it back apart and headed to shop for putty. If you buy this, just buy a tube on the same order and chunk the rubber before you even test it. After doing Plan B, it doesn't leak a drop. #2 issue is the final twisting of unit to sink. I did use Vaseline as suggested but STILL had to hammer on the lugs much harder than I liked to finally obtain it seated properly. Amazing thing is this super tight fitting almost guaranteed a leakproof mount. Poor thing is that I was afraid I was going to bust the ring, which seems to be light aluminum.Other than these 2 issues, it seems like a amazing product. There is no vibration and it's quiet on soft foods. It does knock a small if you drop in, say, an old rock hard dog biscuit like I did just for a test. But it powered right through it, again without is is NOT a super simple install. A couple steps, such as the other bigger rubber seal is irritating, because you have to keep up 2 pieces at the same time, working 1 of them into a slot. The sink part is super easy, but use putty as stated above. The final mounting, also stated above, is scarey. The plumbing is simple and primary if you've ever done even a slight amount tom line ... I would buy this exact model again, adding an order of plumbers putty. But if the prices were similar, I might go with the non-EZ type mount if that type did away with the hammering on the ring.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

I'll admit it. I had not heard of Waste King and was nervous about buying anything outside the top two brands (ISE and Kitchen Aid). The low price and positive reviews convinced me to give it a try. So far, so great! After nearly a year of use, the unit still works flawlessly and has never one point, I did have a leak that I eventually determined was due to improper installation. (This was by the same "professional" plumber who reversed the hot and cold supply lines when installing a kitchen faucet. He just didn't connect the drain hose properly.) While investigating the issue, I called Waste King to inquire about possible in-home service or warranty replacement. I was blown away by their level of customer service: no waiting on hold, just an immediate connection to a person who really knew the product and was unexpectedly diligent in resolving my issue -- which, as it turns out, wasn't even their fault.

This is a creature sized unit. Create sure it will fit where you wish to install it and the diameter and length is bigger than most. Also the distance from the centerline of the inlet to the center-line of the discharge pipe is a bit bigger that most. This may require some rework on the drain pipes under the at being said, this unit has a really nasty smell after only being used 3 or 4 times. I run lots of water into the sink when I use it, and have even pushed a bunch of ice cubes throught it. Smell still is ere was a Whirlpool there for 5 years that never smelled so this is a major step down.11/30/2016 Modernize on Mr Stinky: It seems that when the unit is grinding a lot of meal waste is thrown around inside the chamber. Some of this garbage ends up stuck on the underside of the splash back protector in the throat and begins to decay and smell. I discovered this latest night when I went investigating the source of the stink. Once the splash back protector was removed the zone could be washed down and the underside of the protector washed also. I hope this will solve the issue even though it is a dirty pain in the neck to think I need to clean this often to hold Mr Smelly in also sounds like a design flaw as my Whirlpool never smelled.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5XP, 3/4 HP Continuous Feed []  2020-8-20 20:19

With ease of installation in mind, I purchased this unit as a direct replacement for an almost identical InSinkErator Badger we've had for at least 8 to 10 years. We don't use our garbage disposal a lot, but I guess eight to ten years is still a decent enough life expectancy. Putting this thing in could not have been easier because of the existing mount, which allows swapping the old unit out with the fresh one within minutes. It took me may be 20 mins at the most - and needed almost no tools. Nice.

Our old Badger 1 1/3 HP broke. Unsure how old it was because it came with the house but vegetable peels clogged the pipe and broke the garbage disposal seal and it was leaking at the bottom.I was going to hire someone to fix it but decided to do it ourselves. Bought this make batter from the same Badger brand (with the power cord) and I'm glad I did so! Took the old one out and swapped it with the fresh one. Everything fits!It comes with everything you need, including the wrench to move the blades at the bottom in case it gets stuck. Also comes with a stopper which is amazing because it didn't come with the house when we bought it. **Tip: If you have a dishwasher line, don't forget to punch the hole and retrieve the loose piece ugged everything back in and tested it with a piece of ice. It shredded it faster and quieter than our old Badger e hardest part was the weight of the unit. It would be easier if you have help. I went under the sink to lift the unit and align the lower mounting ring and my husband twisted it in. **Tip: insert a screwdriver in one of the holes in the mounting ring to support twist eat upgrade!

Excellent!!!!I bought this unit to replace the one that finally went out. My old Whirlaway 191 lasted for eighteen and a half years. I had this house built in 1997 and the disposal they had installed has been there from day one. It was used every single day most of the time at least twice or more each day. I can't say enough about it it's just excellent. My previous house I had changed the unit twice in the eight years I lived there, it was not a SinkMaster Whirlaway instead, it was an Insinkerator, that brand only seemed to latest about two to three years, not good.If you wish a quality product that lasts a long time, this is it! Buy one, you won't regret it!

It is supposedly under warranty but I am willing to bet they will come back with some BS reason for not taking care of it and even if thy do , it costs me more for a plumber than the cost of the product. I have used these things all my life and never had one break on me this fast after installing. Don't look at the ship date . It took me a small while to obtain a plumber in here to install. This is crap quality.

Just as advertised . . . related quality to the big-box Blue or Orange supply stores.I've installed a half dozen garbage disposals, over the years. Every one of them had a traditional switch under the sink or on the wall is air switch was a jif, and in our case, there was an 'extra' hole that might otherwise have had a soap dispenser, or neededan escutcheon type cap just to cover it e same type switch is $$ more at one of the huge box stores, over $70 for a related switch with two outlets, instead of the single outlet this unit provides. I didn't need an additional receptacle for an extra $30+ !!I'd buy it again, if I required such a thing.

There was nothing jamming the spinner.I called Insinkerator and they quickly proposed to send me another machine for me to install or return the faulty unit for e replacement is supposed to arrive within 10 days. We'll see.Disappointing so far.UpdateReplacement arrived in the time specified and installed without a ing well so far and amazing follow-up from the company, which is reassuring.I would recommend this company as one which stands behind their products.

This is the best value for the money. It comes with the power cord already attached. Others you had to purchase the power cord is simple to remove and install. Unplug the power cord and [email protected]#$%! out of the way. Loosen the pipe that are attached to it. Using the tool provided, (looks like an Allen wrench on both ends) to loosen the collar. I removed the pipes attached to it to create it easer for me. After I removed the pipes, I carefully loosen the remainder of the collar, beware it is massive so create sure you have a hand or something underneath it to lower it to the bottom of the cabinet. It does not take a lot of power to unscrew the collar. It's that easy. I did not replace the sink attachment since it was not leaking. Install it in reverse order. I will say you have to create sure when you push it up to the attachment create sure it is lever before before you tighten the collar. It is simple to see if it is not level by looking at the collar. It took me three tries to obtain it level. Once I had it level I used the tool to tighten it up. Again not a lot of force is needed. Run water to create sure there are no leaks, if no leaks, plug it in. Noise level is very low. It took me about 20 mins to remove and install. Younger folks could probably do it faster. :-) jw

Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) []  2021-3-17 21:15

Started having issues with my 13 year old Kenmore and had to stop using it. My research led me to this Waste King 8000 1hp. Amazon had a amazing price so I bit. If you'll message my attached pic, the difference is astounding. The Kenmore was a mere 1/3 hp which I didn't know until I removed it and could read the label. No wonder I had issues and it wasn't all similar to age! The cutting internals were all crusty and rusty and it was just a shrimpy small machine. I cook a lot and need this device to work rst off, all internal cutting components are stainless steel, so no corroded cutting components here. This unit is very quiet and VERY powerful. This is literally a HumVee for my sink to replace that Yugo I had been using! Some Installation tips:I'm a very handy person, but this was an simple installation. My existing drain piping connected right up with no mods needed. My unit was hard-wired with Romex. I simply added a wall mount receptacle box, turned the breaker off, ran the Romex to the fresh box to a standard plug receptacle and simply plugged the Waste King into that. Much, much easier than trying to re-wire that stiff Romex to the bottom of the disposal! In my opinion, don't use the supplied rubber drain gasket, use plumbers putty and be done with it. $2.50 for a little tub with plenty left over. The gasket is convenient and easy, but it wont be as amazing or durable of a seal as the putty is. You really don't wish to have to redo the drain seal 4 years or so (or earlier) down the road. Leaks suck, so do it right the first time to avoid messy hurt and forget it. My installation took less than 2 hours and 2 tails. I had all parts 's what I recommend you buy:-If hard-wired with Romex, obtain a single receptacle, wall mount box. A duplex outlet for 120v. Outlet cover plate. If you already have an outlet, you don't need these. Or, you can go luxury and install an air switch with a built in receptacle.-Small tub of Plumbers Putty. Knead out a little ball, roll it out to a "snake" that fits end to end around the the drain flange versus the drain spout and install from the sink side. No putty underneath, use the fiber gasket there under the huge nut. Create sure the drain is tight, fully seated, then remove any excess putty.Turn your breaker back on and you're in action. This is a very strong and well thought out meal disposal that should latest you a lot of years, even with massive use!

Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) []  2021-3-17 21:15

First, to be fair, It does grind meal waste fairly well and is even moderately quiet. There are, however, 3 things which in my opinion (and as a handyman, I've installed tons of garbage disposals) are unforgivable. In no particular order: 1) The mounting system is various than 95 percent of all other disposals regardless of brand. This means that if this model is replacing a failed unit, you have to change the mounting flange and re-seal the fresh flange to the sink with plumber's putty (as opposed to just mounting it on the existing standardized flange). 2) The opening to the disposer is significantly smaller than all the other "standard" models, This means almost everything you test to place down it needs to be physically pushed through the rubber guard with an implement like a fork or spoon, or worse, fingers. Yikes! and 3) This disposer (unlike every other unit on the market) does not have a hexagonal "socket" in the bottom motor shaft to insert a common allen wrench tool for freeing a jam. Instead - and I am not making this up - They show, a specially designed tool, not included, to stick into the sink opening (through the dirty standing water and meal waste) and twist back and forth. Even if anyone even knew where to obtain one of these tools, it's a not good idea. I will certainly never buy another one.

Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/3 HP []  2021-4-11 23:29

WOW, I am extremely impressed with the Waste King L-111 garbage disposer. My old garbage disposal was some generic brand that came with the house. As you can see from the pictures below, it is in the one in the garbage can. First off, I must commend Waste King on making this an simple to install garbage disposal. I actually created a mistake by not putting enough plumbers putty around the drain and had some water leaking during my trial run, but was able to quickly remove the garbage disposal and re putty the drain within 5 minutes! Anyone can install this garbage disposal so do not hesitate on the purchase due to fear of the install process!I was not sure if I should purchase the 1/3 or 1/2 horsepower model since they were not too far off in price. I read that the 1/3 hp models are quieter and in my household, we do not use the garbage disposal as a main form of disposing garbage so I went with the Waste King Legend Series L-111 model. I must say, this thing is extremely quiet, whereas, my old disposal sounded like a turbine was starting up when running. If your family uses your disposal heavily, I would recommend the 1/2 hp model (preferably the L-1001 model).Lastly, with the exception of the plumbers putty and regular household tools, everything is included to perform the install with this purchase. The fresh drain, elbow flange, stopper, sink flange, rubber gasket(for use with stainless steel sinks), splash guard, and power cord! I noticed some disposal troops do not contain a power cord, so I was extremely satisfied that the cord was included!Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this garbage disposal. Only time will tell if it is durable and will provide updates, but for now, I am glad I went with Waste King!

This is excellent for the "do it yourselfer," if you are paying someone to install, obtain something more upscale and a bigger name. I bought this specifically because it was my first garbage disposal install, it was inexpensive, got amazing ratings and if I screwed it up I'm not out too much dough. I gave this a 4 because it met all my expectations and then some but it's not excellent and we don't know the longevity yet. Come on Amazon, where's that 4 1/2 stars?Took me 3 hours to remove and replace this unit, but that was mostly pulling out the old me fast thoughts after install and a day or so of use.A) Appearance: It's as utilitarian as they come and the sink flange is screaming bright chrome, and kind of cheap looking. But why do you need your garbage disposal to match your kitchen decor when it's, you know, UNDER THE SINK.B) Sound: Quieter than it's Whirlpool predecessor not library quiet, but again who cares? Most meal scraps for us go in the trash and we only use the disposal for a few seconds every day. Also, there is a rather unsettling clicking noise upon startup, but according to the instruction manual that's normal.C) Installation: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. WATCH THE INSTALLATION VIDEO. For a novice, that was important, small things like knocking out the dishwasher plug and putting pieces in the right put and right side up. It comes correctly place together in the box so as you take the parts off to install create sure you know how they go back together. The type of sink is important. I was prepared to use plumber's putty to seal the sink flange but the instructions are clear putty's for non-steel sinks, otherwise use the included rubber seal for stainless steel. NEVER both. Electrical is necessary too, this comes with a cord installed which worked for me because we have an outlet under the sink. If you are direct wiring I'm not sure it's worth the aggravation of uninstalling the cord.D) Warranty: The two year warranty was double anything else in the category, for longer you have to almost double the purchase price. Hope I don't need to avail myself of this, but there it is.E) Price: Are you kidding? It's a small over $50, and since my labor is free it's an even better deal. Even if I only obtain my two years of warrantied use it's still a , at the moment I'm quite content it seems the right call if you don't use a disposal a lot and are installing the unit yourself. I'll test to remember to modernize in a year or two as the 111 gets more use and abuse.UPDATE: It's past the two year warranty and the 111 is still working as advertised. As noted we only use it a couple times a day and don't place too much stress on it but at this price point we've already gotten our money's worth.A Suggestion: I found it handy to buy an additional rubber splash guard 'cause it gets NASTY underneath after a month or so. I rotate between two of them, throwing it in the dishwasher seems to clean it up just fine. Runs around $5.

Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/2 HP []  2020-1-28 2:33

Bought to replace an old Badger 5 that was rusted and leaking from the bottom where the power cord comes out. I picked the Waste King based on overall reviews and price. Received 9/14 and installed on 9/15 and again 9/16. the sink ring had a little dent at the inlet (No biggie), but plain and not the shiny chrome with Waste King logo as one reviewer said. The installation is fairly simple and tested OK without leak. However, when I turned it on and ran only water, it leaked and I was not sure whether from the mounting cushion or from the sink flange. It was not from the sink opening however. I took it down and checked the mounting cushion and was OK. Reinstalled it again, with same effect of water leak when the disposal is on, but no leak when disposal is off. All I could think of is possibly the vibration when it is on was unseating something. Other reviewers mentioned that and agree it is likely due to the so called EZ mount with unsupported hard plastic that can wiggle with vibration. I called Waste King and it was a waste of time. I was told the unit is fine (Surprise!) and I should hire a plumber if I wish to hold that unit, but they gladly offered to sell me a various ("better") model for around $200. The traditional 3 bolt mount is better and sturdy. Also, unlike the listing, the grind mechanism is galvanized steel and NOT stainless steel. Lesson learned. Returned 9/16 at Kohl's drop off. Hats off to Amazon however for the amazing service and simple return process. I just bought the Moen GX50C for $100 (3 bolt mount and real stainless steel with 4 year in home warranty. In summary, you obtain what you pay for.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

This thing is exactly as everyone else has described. I, like a lot of others, replaced an old ISE Badger with this unit, and it's heads and shoulders above in quality, function, quietness, etc. It grinds everything in seconds (as opposed to batting it around in the chamber for multiple cycles like the Badger). The original plumbing from the Badger lined right up and worked the first time. I'm very happy with this item... although, there is one thing that I wish to note; I read somewhere that if you use the EZ mount system that comes with it, you won't need plumber's putty - one can just use the gasket. This is real ONLY if using a flat lipped SS sink, and even then the rubber seal is optional as opposed to the putty (you can use only one, the putty or the seal [email protected]#$%! sink, but not both). It's better said that you WILL need plumber's putty, and if you have a stainless steel sink, you have the option to use the thin rubber gasket (I'd use plumber's putty). Other than that minor detail (which created me take an unexpected run to our local hardware store), this unit is great. The one latest thing I will say is around quietness. I've read some reviews that talk about how quiet or not quiet it is. I don't understand the desire to have an ultra-quiet garbage disposal. I mean, one needs to run water while the run the disposal, and a full-blast of the faucet going into a spinning basket creates a notable level of sound anyway, plus I wish to be able to hear the load of the disposal so I can know when it's clear. This unit is by no means noisy, but I just don't see the desire to go ultra-quiet. Again, this big-boy Waste King is awesome.

DO NOT BUY. I bought this product less than 2 years ago and had it installed by a licensed plumber. It recently started leaking from the bottom of the unit. I called the manufacturer and was informed the WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER PRODUCT LEAKS. They sent me directions to check if a gasket is loose or some other installation similar issue. In viewing the leak myself, I could see where it was coming through the bottom and not from a gasket. However, I hired a Handyman to come take a look as well to ensure I wasn't missing anything. He confirmed that the bottom is corroded and the leak is coming from the restart button. In case you're curious, I have not used it to grind up chicken wings or other related stuff like the guy whose review tempted me to buy this product in the first place. I have used it for grinding normal daily meal scraps, always with the water running. With this said, I'm beautiful disappointed in this purchase. Do not buy if you don't wish to replace after a few years.

BESTILL Sink Top Air Switch Kit for Garbage Disposal, Brushed Gold (Long Button with Brass Cover) []  2020-6-14 20:37

Beware! No part of this disposal air switch kit is brass, though the description states: "GOOD DESIGN - The Cover of Air Activated Switch Button for Meal Waste Disposer is Brass Constructed, with Matte Black Finished." The button, escutcheon and housing are all light-weight plastic, PAINTED black! Because the description clearly indicated brass construction and reviews averaged 4.8 stars, with no mention of plastic, I ordered this, expecting to keep a "matte black" metal, high-quality product, and the $45 price seemed fair for the representation. But, after opening the nice package, and finding PAINTED, very light-weight black plastic, I feel I grossly overpaid for a product that will likely not be fair to the seller, I don't know if the other available finishes are metal or painted plastic like plastic item I received. In the attached photos, you'll see BESTILL's "matte black, " which has a sheen, next to a real "matte black," metal soap dispenser from Amazon. And, though I fully unwrapped the components and examined them, I didn't install this piece as it didn't meet my expectations of a solidly constructed "brass" piece that would endure everyday use and latest for years, as my latest brass constructed air switch had lasted for a decade when I sold the house. My largest concern with light-weight, plastic kitchen components used everyday is high susceptibility to breaking, especially as air switches require a firm push to operate.Another customer purchased this BESTILL air switch kit in oil-rubbed bronze, and reported breaking after only a couple months' use. They stated in a review, "The button action was spongy and needed firm pressure. Eventually, repeated pressing cracked the sleeve, sending the entire unit to tumble down into the cabinet." Their review of this BESTILL product was embedded in their 5-star review of the SINKDOM "full brass" replacement air switch, where they noted, "This button has none of those issues. The housing is all metal, no plastic." Their full review can be read here: deciding I wouldn't hold the air switch, I ped online and in stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, ) for a replacement air switch. Amazon had the most air switch kits, at the lowest prices and they were in-stock! Elsewhere, I found most air switch kits were priced well over $100, some close to $300! As a replacement, I bought the same "SINKDOM Air Switch Kit (Full Brass) for Garbage Disposal" the other customer purchased, in "matte black" from Amazon. My handyman comes tomorrow (Monday) to drill the countertop, and I'm thrilled that I could order on Sunday and pick it up from Amazon's locker Monday! I was also thrilled to search out that as a Prime customer I can simply drop off my return at a UPS shop and they'll package it and ship my return at no charge!I'll review the SINKDOM air switch once installed for a few months.

I have used air pressure switches before for garbage disposals located in islands and this one is no different. It's simple to use and hope it lasts as long as the latest one which was still operating perfectly after 15 years of use when we moved. This one didn't come with the additional tops of various colors that the older model did -- you have to order the exact one you need which makes sense and causes less waste unless one plans to change countertop or fixture color. I did panic at first when I couldn't obtain it to work. Electrician immediately place the onus on me as I had bought it for a plumber to install during house renovation and therefore I was held responsible for any problems. However, it was found that the plumber had simply not plugged it in. It is working fine and the finish goes well with other brushed nickle fixtures. Since professionally installed, I can't comment on ease of install but I heard no grumbling or complaining so assume it was SOP.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5XP, 3/4 HP Continuous Feed []  2020-8-20 20:19

Our house [email protected]#$%! the 8 year old tag and all the appliances are slowly giving up, including the off brand 1\4 HP garbage disposal. In college I worked at Lowe's and was always impressed with the quality of this brand. Went with the 3\4HP it was under 100$ and was 3x as strong as our last. Our home is rather new(under 10 years) so it was a fast switch out. Just unplugged the old one and turned it counter clock wise to remove(this one comes with a nice tool to support do that)it. Don't forget to knock out the knockout for your dishwasher if you have your line connected. You might need a flat head\phillips screw driver and a little hammer to support loosen your old one off the sink and to un attach\ re attach your dishwasher drains nipple. The instructions are clear, your P traps under the sinks should be compression fittings and should be hand tightened then a quarter turn past. So hopefully they didn't use glues or anything (one of our fittings had been glued🤦‍♂️). All in all took about 12 minute to swap out. (Including the fresh connection piece that cost me 3$ at Home Depot)It came with a cord to plug into outlet under the sink, some older homes may have it hard wired you'll need to check what you have. As for performance, flawless. Sound wise about the same loudness as the old one maybe a small quieter but boy does it work like a charm and that additional 1\2 HP really makes a difference. We got a family of 5 and eat dinners at home almost every night so this small guy definitely gets worked out. The warranty is for 5 years I've never used one before on any Insinkerator products and this is my 3rd one over the years. My first 3\4 HP I had previously gone with the 1\2, however for the price the extra1\4 HP was a no brainer. Amazing product, highly recommend, be sure to follow the instructions and again don't forget the knockout for your dishwasher if you have one.

Originally I had a 1/2 HP Badger and it started leaking after around 11 years of faithful nce bigger is always better, I decided to go for the 3/4 HP model hoping it would be an exact fit. Luckily it was and it went in smoothly with the existing sink hardware and drain tailpipe. The hardest part was getting the mounting ring loosened up on the old one. This went slightly better after I supported the weight of it with a little floor jack. I imagine a bottle or scissor jack would work as well. The jack also allowed me to slowly drop the old one down to retrieve it and also created it easier to help the fresh one while tightening up the mounting ring.If you have a little jack, it makes things much easier, for sure.

I was very impressed with how simple it was to swap out an old Badger 5. The old one was at least 10 years old and was starting to leak. It stopped working one night, so I hopped on Amazon to have one delivered within 36 hours. I read a couple of reviews, watched a few videos, and I felt comfortable enough to do this myself. I generally stay away from anything plumbing similar since water and leaks are one of the worst things possible for a property.I had the fresh Badger 5 installed in 30 minutes. I highly recommend getting the unit with a power cable. I didn’t have to change any pipes because it was essentially the same unit/setup. I also did not remove the old fastening since this brand makes a huge deal about how simple it is to swap the troops with the brackets.Extremely happy and cheaper than going to Home Depot and/or using a plumber.

Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) []  2021-3-17 21:15

Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) []  2021-3-17 21:15

Update: Since writing this review I have installed three waste kings for home use. None have yet given me problems. On Amazon, as opposed to local purchase, this isnt that much cheaper than the Insinkerator. { I message the price has now dropped on Amazon to match what I'd been paying locally.}Some may want to buy Badger model on Amazon so the sink collar doesnt need changing.. however this model works amazing and does have some advantages.I {no longer} do maintenance on 40 rentals. The usual lifetime of Insinkerator Badger series is about ten years before they corrode and begin leaking. Until recently I've replaced them with Badgers by leaving the sink collar in place. But now the difference in price between the low end products is too great.. Waste King at local Mom and Pop HDW is 30 dollars cheaper than cheapest Badger at :Cheaper than BadgerLooks like better constructionComes with cord and plug. Just chop old hard-wire and add outlet box under n:Have to change sink may have to chop the drain abs pipe to fit where Insinkerator was before. If jammed you have to use huge screwdriver down throat into slot on grinding plate, instead of hex key on bottom motor shaft.{I assume this works. Have installed four but have yet to have to clear jam on any of them}CAUTION! Doesnt matter the brand or how strong the motor is, never feed it items you couldnt swallow.. and always run COLD WATER, esp if you have old waste plumbing. Never clumps of dry pasta or whole vegetable hearts/stalks.

I've always had Insinkerator garbage disposals so I just didn't know any better but now I do. Simply put, this is truly the king of garbage disposals. The amount of power it has is ridiculous and it will tear through just about any meal I've thrown at it. Now, I have been hesitant to try it with some tougher stuff (I've heard stories of people feeding it chicken and rib bones) because I was always taught to be careful what you place down the disposal (a cheap wimpy unit in a relative's shore house seizes up with unpopped corn kernels and their home unit clogged with shredded zucchini). I have given it some things like apple cores though with absolutely no problem. I never would have place an apple core down my old Insinkerator. This king eats the core in about 3-5 seconds, if that. Completely gone. The thing that absolutely astounds me about this unit though is how QUIET it is. It's almost ridiculous. My old one, and most everyone else's I've ever heard sounds like an electric chain saw. This one sounds like someone is humming. When people come over I run it form them just to present off how quiet it is. I know. I'm weird. Add to that a lifetime warranty and this thing just cannot be beat for the money. Google it yourself and you will see how a lot of people agree that this is the best value disposal available. The cheap Insinkerators will normally run you about $80. It's not that much more to obtain one of these and the benefits for the little price increase are totally worth it. For 50% more you obtain method more than a 50% better disposal. Of course you could spend $350 on the Insinkerator Elite but is that one going to be 300% better. I doubt it. If you found this review helpful please click yes below.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

Compact and modern very simple to install. Everything required was in the package, I was able to use my existing outlet flange as they appear to be a standard. The sink adapter that came with the unit is all you need, i've seen a number of reviews that suggest that you buy the Adapter to unit which would create the dusposal a lot lower taking up more space. The trick is to pop off the old adapter sometimes it has a set up that you need to remove first. That unit had a plug in the dishwasher connection that I had forgotten to take out which caused my dishwasher to stop working, after knocking the plug out the unit worked perfectly. I have not had the possibility yet to try the disposal in true life, it is a lot quieter than the old one which started leaking when the internal motor seal went out. I chose this unit because it was a higher horsepower than our old 1/3 hp unit and it had amazing reviews in additionally the price was hard to beat. It took me 20 mins to obtain those unit out and the fresh unit in, The only tool I required was a screwdriver. I did not bother using plumbers putty on the sink, however I did use a screwdriver to just wipe off the old party then with a paper towel to clean it up before putting the fresh rubber gasket in the fresh sink insert ter 3 1/2 years still runs great

Purchased in 2007, Austin, TX. After removing the old disposal and cleaning off the drain hole I spread a bead of Plumbers GOOP (any shop stocking adhesives) around the drain hole; a bead on the bottom lip of the drain adapter; put the gasket for the sink on the adapter; a bead of adhesive onto the rubber seal that goes on before the huge plastic nut; a bead of adhesive into the threads where the drain is tightened; put the adapter into the sink drain; place the rubber seal onto the adapter and tighten the huge nut firmly onto the adapter. Have had no issues with the disposal that is used aggressively in these 10 years without any leaking or it coming loose from vibration. I also installed the same disposal for MIL in 2008 which is still operating strong.Edited review: MIL's 2008 disposal bit the dust in Feb 2017 and was replaced using the same L-1001 disposal.

Spend less than $40 and place this garbage disposal button in that spot! Works great! Simple to install! Handy location! Gain an additional kitchen plug instead of having that switch on your wall! Go ahead...get to it! (Will modernize for longevity and sturdiness if it has any problems. If you don't see an update, it's working great!)

Works amazing and looks great, too! Doesn’t exactly match the champagne bronze color of the Delta Trinsic Faucet line so my only suggestion is to hold them kind of far apart. My contractor was intelligent and place it down on the cabinet in front of the sink so you don’t notice. But it functions well!

After reading the glowing reviews, I expected it to work better. It's nice that it has the attached power cord, definitely a plus. But it had a hard time grinding up a LEMON. Granted, it was sort of an old lemon that had gotten rather tough. But even after cutting said lemon in half the disposal still had problem with it for quite a while -- loud, upset trouble. And other, much more normal, smaller things also give it trouble. And never, ever forget to place the drain screen on the other side of the sink or block it with a cup. The water fountains up. I may be inexperienced in the finer points of using a disposal, but I never had any of these troubles before with my old garbage disposal that cost about 25 or 30 percent less. So Meh.

very disappointed. I ordered this one because it stated "with plug", but no cord was included. I thought I could switch the cord from the other one because it was the same model, but I was wrong. The other unit had various colourful wires so could not figure out which went to which, and to obtain the other one out I had to chop the cord which created the wires too short anyways. To say the least I am very frustrated as I have one that does not work still under the sink. The plus is it lined up with the pluming for the other one, and would have only taken 10 minute to install. I wanted a replacement with a cord, but they do not offer a replacement only a refund so it will be another week without a working garbage disposal.

We have a home with a disposal switch that is counter level making it risky not only with children but someone accidently bumping the switch. Did a bit of research and found amazing reviews with this product and thought we would give it a shot. The product seems well constructed and was very simple to install, giving us peace of mind that the switch can't be easily flipped. Simple enough for an adult to use and the combination of pushing in and up would definitely be more difficult for a child. I also like that once released it flips the switch back to the off position.

I bought this to replace a much older ver of the same model, which (thank goodness) is the same size and profile. The old one had a seal that failed and was leaking water from the bottom which in turn tripped the ry simple to install. Unplugged the old one then removed the drain pipe and the tube from the dishwasher. I left the existing collar assembly in-place. NOTE: If you are going to install the fresh collar assembly, you will need to have some plumber's putty e most challenging part for me was releasing the existing unit from the collar as I initially turned it in the wrong direction (clockwise from left to right) and tightened it rather that releasing it - ultimately making it more difficult to release (DOH!)One thing that is easily overlooked but is critically important:IF YOU HAVE A DISHWASHER CONNECTION, REMEMBER TO KNOCK OUT THE PLUG BEFORE CONNECTING THE TUBE TO FROM THE DISHWASHER! Alternatively, you can just hold a mop and bucket the end, the whole job took maybe 30 mins (but could have taken less), and it works like a charm.Highly recommended.

We had a 444 which one thing led to another and suddenly it was full of utensils. So a lot of that it caused a leak and the 444 started draining thru the emergency drain. It was almost 10 years old so i grabbed this. Really amazing that it comes with the power cable already attached. It has the same mount points as the 444 so it was very simple to remove that and replace with this Badger 5. Worked great, no leaks, quieter than the 444 was by a small bit. I had to take a star off because the directions SUCK. They spend several panels on things that nobody needs to be told and literally cram multiple steps of the most necessary parts of assembling it into a single step. If the manual didn't suck so poor I would have gave it 5 stars. Manual aside it deserves the full score unless it breaks down sooner than te: I did not install the mount that connects to the sink. I see reviews saying the one that comes with this is not good quality. As I had a 444-5 in there previously, i am using that mount. If the mount that comes with this is not as good, i won't be able to figure out. Also, the mount was professionally installed when the previous resident had the kitchen re-done a small over 10 years ago.

It has a 2 year warranty so I called Waste King and they asked me to search the model number on it (fyi it is still attached to the sink) so I look all over it and see a sticker with the serial number on it but don't think I see the model number anyway the customer service representative sits on the phone not saying a word as I find and hold him updated finally I say I do not see the model number but I can send you a picture of this sticker, all sides of the unit, my receipt from amazon, anything you need and he says if you can't tell me the model number then I can't support you. WORST customer service on the planet from Waste Kink! I called Amazon customer service and they sent me a fresh one and I received it the next day. Amazon has the best customer service on the planet and I amazon almost exclusively for that reason.

EZ mount, ha ha! More like "not so EZ mount." This was my first disposal install. I had to remove a very old disposal prior to the install of this fresh one. The removal took about 1.5 hours. I spent about another 6 hours, spread over 2 days, trying to obtain this disposal mounted. The first time I got everything installed correctly, it leaked. I took everything apart and re-did the plumber's putty. Spent another couple hours trying to re-install. My issue, which I found only after uninstalling everything and putting them together without the sink, is that I was putting the cushion ring up too far on the sink flange. This did not let the silver mounting ring to sink down where it required to. You will question that the lower unit can be held in put by such a little rubber ring edge, but it can. This unit is about half the size of my old unit and about half as loud. Should I need to replace it sometime in the future, I look forward to using the EZ mount portion still in put and just unlocking the old and locking in the new.

This is a amazing a disposal based on the following: 1. Simple Install 2. very quiet compared to competitors 3. Created to replace existing competitor e ugly part: My first Waste King was purchased in 2015 which lasted on a small over a year. Manufacturer policy is no replacement within the warranty period unless the plumber they call out says I need replacement. In other words, if the disposal becomes stuck and the plumber gets it unstuck. You pay the plumber and your stuck with a corroded garbage disposal that will likely lock-up again within a week or two. I lucked out, I live so far away from the plumber that he convinced the manufacturer to send me a disposal and allow me do the install. But the replacement disposal is No.2 disposal. Bottom line, if you can't obtain it unstuck and working again just buy another in my opinion. Plumbers service call is almost as we are today, May of 2018 and I just installed my third Waste King garbage disposal. This one will latest me just over a year like the others. So three disposals in 4 years. That doesn't sound like such a amazing bargain to me but it really is much quieter than the competing disposals. Of note, all three disposals I purchased do not have stainless steel internals. No moving parts in my disposal are corrosion resistant but if you have a water softener you may obtain a small additional life out of the waste king. Next time I may buy the model with stainless steel parts unless the competitors are priced the same and have stainless, then I will be jumping ship and getting a various brand.

Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/2 HP []  2020-1-28 2:33

Delivered as promised. Very easy swap out with old disposal. Took 30 minutes. Just create sure you knock out the plug for the dishwasher drain line if you have one. I did everything with a flat hint screwdriver. Pictures present product unpacked, old disposal, removed, plug knocked out, fresh drain collar in place,, fresh disposal in place, looking down throat and with removable drain guard installed. Then plug and play! Simple installation. Much quieter then the old one. Less vibration. Amazing build quality. Old one lost it's seal. Went from a1/3 HP to this 1/2 HP. Very happy so far. Just from the quality build appearance alone. Only time will tell but I think she's a winner... Old disposal only lasted 2 and 1/2 years. Was method louder even when new...

I've read the reviews. "Difficult to install", "couldn't figure it out", etc. I just finished installing the WasteKing disposal a few days ago, and I can honestly say it wasn't that hard to install. The hardest part was getting my old retired body underneath the sink. But as for the disposal, it runs great, saves a lot of room, and is fine for two people. One note of caution: read the instructions. And then look, and handle, and yze the mounting ring and flange. It's not rocket science. Yes, I know the Insinkerator's install easier. If you wish to spend twice as much cash for the same horsepower, then it's certainly your prerogative. Me...I'd rather save 50 bucks. They all do the same thing: grind up garbage.I'd give this disposal a 5 star if it weren't for the fact it's a small louder than it's counterparts. Doesn't bother me. I'm hard of hearing.

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1 HP []  2020-1-19 0:51

So I know next to nothing about buying a garbage disposal, for the past ten years I’ve lived in large cities and haven’t had any room (or necessity for that matter) to purchase one. Having recently bought a house, all that has changed. From dishwasher to washer to dryer to garbage disposal, I’m having to educate myself about them and purchase them with informed decision making skills. Yikes. With the garbage disposal ping, I quickly learned that the huge brands are Waste King and Sinkerator and that those were the two best locations to start. After going over several models and two trips to two separate best buys (who, by the way, really need to amp up their customer service model) I cheated and had my mom choose one for me. Sue me. So she chose this particular brand, and wow—it works really well, I can’t believe how simple it makes my life. I can place bones, and tough meal products down the disposal, and it makes cooking really simple. Go figure.Update: As an aside, I also learned from my research that the best method to clean my disposal is to use citric acid. Having previously had no idea what citric acid was used for, I decided to order some from Amazon, going with the brand my sister uses: Citric Acid Powder - Ultra Fine Pure Powdered Crystals - Natural Preservative Meal Grade Quality (16 oz) and gave it a whirl after 3 months of using my disposal. I allow the citric acid sit with some water in the disposal for about ten minutes, and then I allow it run for a solid 2 minutes. I repeated the procedure a few times and after about 30 minutes—wow, all the leftover gunk and meal was flushed out of the disposal, leaving it clean with a very mild citrus scent. I feel like I’m becoming a true DIY at home kind of guy.

The spring is super stiff. That may be amazing for safety but not something you can turn on for a second during washing.

BESTILL Sink Top Air Switch Kit for Garbage Disposal, Brushed Gold (Long Button with Brass Cover) []  2020-6-14 20:37

Oil rubbed bronze matches other fixtures well - dark brown with slight copper lines showing thru at edges of button. I had problem finding a button the correct color to match the faucet & sink trim I already had. I bought this button because the spring under the button that originally came with my button switch died and the button permanently depressed into the casing. This replacement button attached perfectly to the existing switch plug box and works exactly like the original- no compatibility issue at all. The additional long tube for it goes through the full depth of my granite countertop help structure to let it to be attached properly from underneath- was super satisfied about that!

BESTILL Sink Top Air Switch Kit for Garbage Disposal, Brushed Gold (Long Button with Brass Cover) []  2020-6-14 20:37

I used this for my garbage disposer. It created it true simple because I didn't need to place a switch on the wall. I mounted this in one of the spare holes in the sink. I've owned a couple of this type of switch and this one seems to be the best one I've used. This switch has a solid satisfying feel.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5XP, 3/4 HP Continuous Feed []  2020-8-20 20:19

Except for the delay in shipping which was probably due to Christmas holiday, I am very satisfied with this disposal. Same and better than buying it at Home Depot because I could use my Amazon bonus cards and Amazon credit card. Simple to install because I already had the upper portion in my sink as I was replacing same brand. You just [email protected]#$%! up onto the ring slots and turn to lock it on. Plus this model has the electrical cord already attached! no install of that needed. Home Depot did NOT offer this model at the time. BTW I am a woman of petite build, and I was able to install it. My husband stood by to hand me the tool, and to support with the tightening (a small bit of muscle is needed). Take my tip and use a little box or step stool to help the bottom while you maneuver this into position to line up with the drain pipe and DW hose.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal with Cord, Badger 5XP, 3/4 HP Continuous Feed []  2020-8-20 20:19

I bought this to replace my 10 year old whirlpool gc2000 that began leaking out of the electrical cord hole in the bottom. I knew this was not a amazing sign so I ordered the insinkerator. Besides the silly name, I am really satisfied with it. I was originally concerned it would not line up with the piping and I'd have to begin cutting pipes and adding elbows, which I really didn't wish to do. Turns out the 1/2 HP seats with the drain hoses in the exact same spot at the 3/4 HP does. So if you have a gc2000 that has broken, you can replace it with the 1/2 HP Insinkerator or the 3/4 HP without changing pipes under the sink. I was so satisfied to learn I could make batter to the 3/4 HP without changing anything. I am far from a handy man and it was super simple. I left the original drain on the sink cause I am lazy and well it was working fine so I connected it up. But before I did I noticed the included drain pipe was going to be a couple inches too long so I simply pulled off the pipe from the old gc2000, after almost falling over and dry heaving as I did. I took the nasty smelling pipe and gave it a amazing clean and sanitize session, place it on the fresh 3/4 Insinkerator, excellent fit. Fired it up and everything works great. It's more quiet than my 1/2 HP whirlpool to boot. If you are like me and you aren't amazing at fixing items like this, don't be afraid it was method easy. Don't forget to punch out the plug for the dishwasher hose "youtube it" or you will have some leaking issues and chunks of meal stuck in your house next time you run your dishwasher. I was lucky to have stumbled upon this in a youtube so I thought I'd pass that along so support someone avoid that from happening. Long story short, it's a excellent replacement for the whirlpool gc2000, everything fits right whether you pick the 1/2 HP or the 3/4 HP ( although the 3/4 is about an inch longer) and the you can use your existing sink drain, if its not leaking that is.. It's a buy!

    Premier 191-pc Whirlaway Garbage Disposal with Plug, 1/3 hp []  2020-8-23 20:5

Purchased this same model as an identical replacement and was not disappointed. I can't comment on the longevity of this unit at this point in time, but it was an exact match to the old unit that lasted well over 10 years. Easier to install than I had anticipated since the old mounting bracket matched exactly and all existing plumbing matched up perfectly.
