Millie is definitely not the type of lawyer I would want, because of her mercenary cash pursuits and lying, thus lack of integrity. She was more interested in the cash than morality. Her putting off taking the bar exam seemed very irrational to me. All the intense interest from outsiders (potential investors) in the relationship between Rees and Millie seemed unnecessary and like overkill. Why??? Sour grapes?? Pickled alcohol brain???? Potential investors seemed more interested in that than the business opportunity Rees promoted. Smh. A lot of holier-than-thou people with a lot of their own dirty secrets. I had a large issue with people so willing to believe the worst of another person with very small substance to back up false claims. Wow!! Does ignorance come with wealth? Seems real for most of these people! I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this and am giving an honest review. #teamrees

    Grumpy Boss []  2021-4-6 23:32

Grumpy Boss is the second book in BB Hamel's Grumpy series- though the book is entirely self contained and can be read as a stand alone complete with a es Court aka the grumpy boss is going through a small bit of a PR scandal. Millie Drake is a latest law school graduate (but is terrified to take the bar exam) and needs a job to pay the bills. Millie's mate Lori, who you might remember from book one Grumpy Doctor, recommends her for a job as an assistant for her extremely wealthy cousin, Rees. Only the job isn't exactly that of an assistant, but more like hurt control of the ugly rumors surrounding Rees by method of a fake relationship and helping him save the business deal he was working on while also getting to the bottom of who is out to destroy his reputation and career.I usually love BB's books and can sit down and read it all in one sitting, but I struggled a small with this one. The book had amazing moments of humor and the steamy moments between Rees and Millie were amazing enough- given that it felt like a slow burn relationship. I just didn't really feel all that connected with either of the characters. Like I know the facts of Millie's upbringing and how she struggled for everything which was somehow correlating to her being to nervous to take the bar exam, but I just didn't feel like I really understood her or could relate to how she was thinking or acting during the story. In Grumpy Doctor, where I first met Rees, he was this mystery of a man, that was a closed off workaholic and didn't do private relationships outside of strict loyalties. But I didn't feel like I really learned anything fresh or more about him in this story- he still felt like mostly a mystery. Millie and Rees' relationship was a small disjointed- it felt like they went from keeping everything professional to all the sudden just being affectionate and proclaiming their love. Then the mystery of all of the poor press and marks versus Rees' reputation just didn't quite do it for me. There was some amazing build up and there was definitely some mystery to it all but in the end but I felt a small allow down with how it played ere are some amazing points to the story as well as some "eh" points. I still enjoyed the story, just not as much as I usually do with BB's books.

Rees is known for being grumpy & definitely hard to obtain along with so when he offers a job to Millie to be his fresh assistant, she gets more than what she's asked for in helping him. Someone is trying to sabotage his business as each prospective lead in investing into his SPAC endeavor, is believing the false gossip of his hero & don't wish to associate with him at all. Time is running out on raising cash to create profits for SPAC so he finds out who the source is & confronts the person. Rees shows the other side of his personality & a lot has to do with Millie. Rees realizes cash isn't what makes a person satisfied & he shows compassion. Once the truth is out about the false stories, there is change in the wind. The dark cloud above Rees' head has disappeared & his troubles have faded. The real colors of some mates showed how shallow they really are & not worth spending any more time with them. He has found a real mate & this one is a keeper!I volunteered to read this ARC & leave an honest review.

In this story we obtain to read about Rees, who is a wealthy man that is not known to be a nice. Rees has been involved in false rumors that are negatively affecting his business so he looks to hire a fresh assistant. Millie is mates with Lori, Rees’s cousin and Millie is given a possibility to interview for that position. Millie has just graduated law school at the top of her class only needing to take the bar exam to become a lawyer but is having mixed feelings about taking the test. When Millie is created aware this is not a normal assistant job she barters for a better deal that Rees is offering to support care for her grandmother and her student debts. Rees is satisfied to see that Millie has war in her and knows she’s the right one to support him in this war for his business. These two have an attraction towards one another and war it until their cirtances bring them together and they know something amazing is developing between them. There are mates who don’t take that leap of faith with Rees fighting the rumors and he’s upset about it but is glad to have Millie there by his side. When theses two explore who is causing the rumors they deal with it in a respectful method and present others what mates should do. Along the method they meet some characters who only look out for themselves and how Rees and Millie move on from those interactions is one they should be proud of. Millie was afraid to take her bar exam, for her grandmother's well-being and their precarious financial situation. Opportunity knocked on her door with Rees's dangerous offer. An offer at odds with her beliefs and one that filled her even more with apprehension, doubts and fears, but even afraid she decided to take the risk. Rees had faith in his project and had place all his dedication into making it work at a profit for himself and his investors, but someone was moving the chips versus him seeking to destroy him. Millie and Rees found themselves racing versus the clock to search investors and begin SPAC, and it was not only the project that was important, but also the powerful attraction that had developed between them. Interesting since not everything was black or white and there was a gray zone with justifications that created me think. I liked the detailed descriptions, the intense emotions, the suspense, the drama that kept me intrigued the entire time. Millie was smart, skilled and a resource of help that kept Rees on his feet. Voluntarily reviewed this copy which I liked.

Twenty nine percent in and I gave up. The storyline is stupid. The girl is stupid. The character is not an alpha. It just kept getting more convoluted as I continued to read and I frankly didn't care how they resolved it.

Millie Drake has had a very hard life. She recently graduated from law school but has been putting off taking the bar exam. She needs a job so she can take care of her grandma who worked her fingers to the bone to create enough cash to raise her. She gets hired by Rees Court a rich, grumpy, good looking businessman as his assistant. He's trying to get huge sums of cash for his venture. He offers her five million to support him but she manages to obtain more. This is beautiful shady but she needs to be able to take care of grandma. Lots of twists and turns and chemistry between Rees and Millie. Lots of stories come out about Rees sleeping with lots of women that aren't true. He's beautiful sure where they're coming from but needs to search the culprit as well as raising cash for his venture. People are believing the lies and are reluctant to invest. The chapter with the hero Modesto is just really weird and doesn't fit at all. I really liked the main characters but it was just lacking something. This book was OVER THE TOP with the boss hole theme. The H was just bossy he was down right mean sometimes. And too fast to jump to conclusions. I would've liked the story more without all of the grunts, groans, moans and growls. He never just spoke. Couldn't obtain over that.

I only got to the end of the first chapter where she says " this is officially the worst day of my life." Well, this is maybe the worst book in ages! If you don't mind useless swearing from page one, you may like this book.I took a writing class some years ago and one younger man wrote something similar. It was met with silence. The author sounds like a nice guy. I just don't like his writing.

Three stars for decent dialogue and scenes. The banter between Barrett and Delphine was snappy, teasing, and humorous. I liked them both, even if the MMC yelled a bit too much.Otherwise, the plot is an overused trope: @#$%hole boss and employee begin out clashing, then break company rules because they can’t hold their hands off each other, then fall in love, then one “betrays” the other. We’ve read hundreds of them, and this one is nowhere near the worst I’ve is author has the ability to write an overall decent tale, but there are some issues. I thought the MMC roared too much, although for this trope I do have fun a shouting boss. I counted approximately 75 “snarl” uses, and I’m kind of wondering if the author thinks snarl and scowl are synonymous. They aren’t.A stalker on the loose is discussed, but left as a loose end.I wouldn’t pay for this, but it’s worth a KU checkout.

So I really love reading romcom's, especially after a poor day. This was one that I couldn't place down. Cormac is a self-made billionaire and Ella is an artist, they are the opposite of each other. The first time they met was in the coffee and it didn't end well...Mr. Jagger Cole has written another fresh favored story I'll read again and again.I received an ARC from the author to read and my honest review.

Character gets better by the end, but he’s a true jerk. I wouldn’t have place up with any of this man’s crap. No excuses. He’s just...not nice. I accept the bosshole premise. I accept that it’s a well known troupe. But I think he’s more mean and overly defensive than anything else. And it doesn’t really come off as hot to ere were a few loose ends barely tied up...the stalker for example. And I caught quite a few typos. I rarely catch ’s a amazing story line and it’s well written and simple to follow, but it not my favorite. There are some seriously y scenes. Honestly though? I’d give it a pass unless you’re a diehard Jagger Cole fan. Or you’re killing a bit of time and wish something steamy. It’s not a one star read...it doesn’t suck or offend...but it’s not his best.

Mr. Grumpy Boss (Alphalicious Billionaires Boss) []  2021-4-6 22:6

Sutton Sethford is the 27-year-old administrative assistant for Philippe Wilson, better known around the office as Hades or the Devil or Lucifer—all personas for the the evil monster who stormed through her office emitting his fiery demands. The issue is she can’t exactly have “PA for Hades” added to the name plaque on her desk. But, all who actually work for the sinfully handsome CEO Philippe Wilson would not challenge her description of him as the boss from hell. And, for three years she has dealt with his evil moods that certainly go past “grumpy” on the “bossometer”, routinely landing in the level of “hellacious,” making the work put environment is tense. And, having provided the same services for his deceased dad, a kind, easy-going boss, the son’s disposition following the dad’s death has made an unpleasant work environment, especially for his finally, tired of her tirades at home, her Granny has encouraged the auburn-haired beauty to record her frustrations in a diary of sorts—a boss dump. And, not one for long-handing her complaints, Sutton has made a file on her computer, a “Diary Therapy Thingy”, that at least keeps the venting and ranting at work, instead of dumping the fiery venom or her ire on her loving and patient tisfied with her computer “therapy sessions”, Sutton carries on with her everyday dumps until she is commanded to rework a file error that caused a storm at the latest stockholders’ meeting. After correcting the storm-causing file, Sutton attaches the corrected file to the email and returns it to Philippe, aka Hades. Mentally marking that experience as “task done,” she moves on to the next task until she receives a request from Hades himself for her to explain her attachment entitled “Diary Therapy Thingy”! Could this understandable oversight from a hardworking and supportive assistant who helps the boss hide his own panic attacks send Sutton to the streets, seeking a fresh job?Lindsay Hart once more examines and crushes some of society’s misconceptions of how a woman should act, look and love and answer to the male dominated work setting. Hart lets the readers fully appreciate the challenges faced by both men women seeking honesty and truthfulness in relationships, and desiring to be real to themselves. She offers the excellent comeback to the false patterns which society, and one’s on expectations, impose on the individual.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.

Allow me state it was a funny read, despite it being so juvenile. The journal quips and snarky dialogue were funny and created me chuckle a lot of times, but the whole plot of encounters pretending to be ignored (like that makes them not real), the early story silly talk dialogue, and how her Granny kept saying, "that's how babies are made!" just didn't fit with the whole man running his father's multibillion dollar company with the support of his 27 year old private assistant with her own Business Degree. Phillippe was self centered, and sorry for himself, but definitely overstressed and anxious. Panic attacks? Please! He should've been the one to search himself professional support ASAP, just for the sake of the company if not himself! And Sutton was caring and nurturing, but at the same time emotionally immature, just like Phillippe. Even though I finished it, it didn't create me wish to read more. Sorry.

Well, it says something when I had to go back to the book to look up the heroine’s name. Sutton beautiful much allow Phillipe walk all over her for three years, she was a total doormat, doing all his unreasonable demands without complaint. It’s no wonder he hadn’t really noticed her for all those years. She only caught his attention when he read her secret journal and figured out that she had some personality after all. He’s no prize either. Panic attacks and harsh office manners hid an emotionally stunted man who was afraid he couldn’t be the man his father was. The dad had died at least three years earlier and Phillipe still wasn’t over it. All our parents die but you obtain over it. I’m sure his panic attacks stemmed from his business insecurities and the lack of his father’s oversight. He required to grow up and obtain help, for heaven’s sake. Sutton’s inner dialogue drove me crazy. “No, he’s mean and this is fake, but I’ll do it anyway.” Her thoughts were illogical and her fake office personality just created me dislike her, as she did the opposite of what she thought she should do. She spoke so disrespectfully to Phillipe when he was being sincere, I felt I should write a death stage for her and be done with it. And pulling out is family planning? Sure, you’re planning on have a family with that method! Her grandmother was a breath of new air. At least she was a straight shooter and spoke her mind. The end came together nicely and saved the story. Both parties grew up and actually talked to each other without pretense or employing hurtful defensive mechanisms. I rate this book 2.5 stars. Sutton was more aggravating than Phillipe. I will say that I really like Lindsey Hart and have read most of her books. This is my first low rating for one of her books but I’m going to hold reading her work. She’s a amazing writer, and everybody is allowed a free pass now and then!

Mr. Grumpy Boss (Alphalicious Billionaires Boss) []  2021-4-6 22:6

After just finishing a really twisted mystery/thriller where it's hard to tell the amazing guys from the bad; where a lot of people die; and the ending, while not bad, was not exactly an HEA, I was in dire need of something light, maybe a small comical and with a true HEA. This book definitely fit the bill ... Beautifully!Loved the characters ... The H and h and even Grandma! They are sweet, funny, sassy, troubled and real! The Character is demanding, skips the please and thank you's, makes it known when he's displeased, and yes, grumpy. His staff are nervous around him and test to stay out of his method when they think he's mad or displeased; all except the h, his assistant, who has her own method of dealing with him). There are reasons for his grumpiness but I'll allow you explore those yourself. Suffice to say he really is a nice guy, just a very troubled one. He has a mother and sister who worry about him and his lack of a life outside the business. He may have told his Mom he was bringing a date (a very fresh girlfriend of only two months) to his sister's wedding so she'd stop bugging and worrying about him. He could just say she had an emergency come up at the latest min and couldn't create e heroine is intelligent, dependable, compassionate, attractive (in a easy way) and down to earth. She rents a basement apt from her Grandma, whom she loves dearly, to support her Grandma out financially. Grandma is a sassy thing who offers sage tip like keeping a journal to vent about said grumpy boss. The h has a very creative and colourful method of expressing herself in her journal and otherwise. When she mistakenly attaches her journal to an email to her boss (instead of the financial report she corrected) she is certain she will be fired. But rather than being angry, he is amused at her colourful and creative language and ogies. Hating to disappoint his Mom, he uses the situation to convince her to be his date/fake girlfriend at his sister's wedding in exchange for deleting and forgetting about the journal...and a raise. Though hesitant, she can't pass up the offer, the additional cash will support with Grandma's meds). What ensues, as they obtain to know each other better and reveal their real selves, is a funny and colourful exchange as they both test to convince themselves (and each other) that what they feel isn't real. Turns out the H can be just as colourful and creative as the ere's very small angst in this story. I loved that the H doesn't except her resignation message at face value and decides to confront her and place it all on the line, even if it turns out she feels nothing for him and rejects him. (Of course she doesn't, he really did turn out to be a scrumptious sweetheart). If you need something to cleanse your mental palette after reading a dark, twisted and/or intense story, or if you just like your romances light, sweet, a small comical and colorful, I highly recommend this book. (Warning, the is graphic and hot!)

Sutton works for the worse boss ever! He is totally unreasonable in his demands and also the Devil himself in temperament. So she started a diary file to release her dislike and frustrations. Everything was fine until she realized she had sent him her diary file instead of the finance report he demanded she redo. Philippe was surprised when he received the wrong attachment to an email from his assistant and highly entertained while reading her diary. Sutton was totally surprised when she was called into her boss's office expecting to be fired only to search out that her boss was going to use her diary to blackmail is book is absolutely hilarious. I do not recommend you be eating or drinking anything or it will go spewing across the room. Highly recommend!

Their banter alone makes this story worthy of my five star rating. I laughed out loud at their antics. The scenes in the bathrooms are hilarious. A superb storyline that will hold you reading into the night saying "just one more page". Granny was an outspoken loving grandmother to Sutton, and always interesting. I loved every minute.

My eyes got a amazing workout while reading this. They kept rolling and squinting and widening incredulously. This alphalicious billionaire was far from alphalicious. How did the author think her portrayal of Philippe as an alpha is beyond me. He freaked out and ran to hide in the toilet for sporting a hard-on for goodnes sake! Own it, buddy! And he was either stuttering or blabbering...not exactly how a billionaire heading his own company should be behaving. And his panic attacks? Those were never explained.I could have liked Sutton's hero which came off as sympathetic and had a amazing heart. BUT reading her inner thoughts and feelings was such a turn-off rather than finding it funny as what i suspected the author was aiming is book is just so ridiculously written I am patting myself on the back for reading it to the end.

Phillipe has taken over his father’s company after he passed and is trying to hold it a successful one. He has problem sleeping and has panic attacks. One day she accidentally sends her journal to her boss instead of the file he was waiting for. Phillippe is stunned by what he is reading but instead of being angry he finds it funny. This was such a unbelievable story! I love the take charge attitude of Vanessa and the women who have her back, and the grumpiness of Kral. These two really place a brand fresh twist to heating up the boardroom. Their story unfolded slowly but surely, with some nasty poor guys thrown in to hold the book exciting and the danger level high. I love how one man's love can turn the tide of almost any negotiations. This book was well worth the purchase and I can't wait to see what the author brings us next.

In a lot of ways this is a classic romance but it is feistier than most. Plus throw in a bit of action and aliens. The best part of the story is the main couple and the power exchange they share. The villain is a real villain and the side characters are funnyI received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Vanessa, our leading lady, is super smart, super sassy, and so very funny. She truly is someone I would have loved to be mates with. Kral, her sizzling hottie alien boss, notices her when she leads a strike versus their company to obtain better pay and work conditions. The fireworks begin shooting almost from the first moment these two strong-willed characters obtain together. It was and awesome story to read. It had funny moments that had me laughing out loud (to my husband's raised eyebrows). The author did a amazing job fleshing out both characters and the overarching story line of sabotage and intrigue that had to be solved while Vanessa and Kral butted heads straight into their HEA. Totally recommend this story. Worth all five stars. Loved this story about Vanessa, human, and Krag, Sanax. Vanessa recently returned to Earth and got a corporation job working for Krag. Complaining about the pay discrimination with the other women. She asked by a co-worker to fix a computer glitch in the system, which she fixes. This action is reported by Loth to Krag who decides to maybe introduce himself. After work Vanessa and her co-workers decide to go to a bar to vent and blow off steam. During their venting, Vanessa brings up that they should strike which the co-workers agree. Krag who thinks humans are dumb is having a hard time convincing the Earth people to go completely digital instead of currency in his dealings. Earth people are afraid the Sanax will take over Earth. Vanessa starts a strike which brings her to his office and the negotiations begins. Will they search a compromise? This is another well written alien romance with touches of humor, steamy attraction, and drama I enjoyed reading from her previous written books.

Isla is so cool that I am disappointed she is fictional because I would totally be besties with her. There HEA takes a while but their journey is laugh out loud funny to read. I absolutely adored reading/catching up with the aliens and their humans from the previous books. I am wondering though, if Isla might just be based on our beloved author seeing as she is a amazing fan of all things trivia....hmmm...🤔

Oh MY GOSH !!!!!Question .....Do you like to Laugh ???Yes ??Then this book is a Must have !!!I have laughed at almost every chapter from beginning to end . I have cried a few times , and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about some of the colourful characters from past books of this ALIEN Series . IIn this book ,BASH , the QUARRY Master, is the Rakhii of the moment. He is surly and does not tolerate " humans " . They are inferior in every possible way, and he doesn't wish them there . He has work to do , and all the humans do is slow him and his squad down with their foolishness.Enter Isla ....Isla is one of the human women who were on the Auction planet. Unlike most of the other women , she was bought as a sort of , " Pet ". So , after her newness wore off, her buyers heard of the ," preserve " where the women were kept, and dropped her off . So, she didn't really have any connection or friendships with the other women who we have read la is a social butterfly . She speaks her mind , but it usually in , " slang ", from Earth. So a LOT of what she says we,the readers, e Rakhii, not so much !!!Isla and Bash are hilarious in their interactions and we also obtain to see Gracie as she is pregnant , and that was even funnier !! We also obtain to see Mando , and obtain a bit more of her story. Also Angie and Aroch, and Callie , and Zaedeon, and baby Baskian... And obtain to meet a lot of was absolutely awesome having the globe come alive with trips out to the QUARRY and the outlying cities and districts . The Nawrari horse stables are incredibly graphic and so was the quarries. I felt like I was there on the Mesa overlooking the valley . Such a panorama of beauty !!Wonderful descriptions , unbelievable stories ,wonderfully satisfied book reader !!!!

Amanda Milo brings us another amazing story with humor and easy sweetness. I love that there is no darkness in her stories. Her characters may have been through it but usually she looks at the aftermath and the healing part of the characters life. This story is just such an example. He was damage badly by a female he loved and she felt love was not something she was ever going to have. Yet together they search it with humor and passion.

I have loved every book, in this series, prior to this one. The globe that Ms. Milo made held a amazing deal of appeal. Each book, I would immediately purchase. I REALLY wanted to love Bash and anticipated Ms. Milo finishing. Now I seriously regret ever purchasing it.1st, things I liked and the ONLY reason I gave this 2 stars: 1) Ms. Milo mentioned every hero from this series' prior books. 2) Ms. Milo did take the reader into a larger part of this alien globe and not just the , onto why I am so enraged over wasting my cash on this book and why I will never just insta-purchase any further books by this author. Ms. Milo warned that this is a "slow burn". I was okay with that. She describes this as a comedy. While early on there was things to laugh about, by the time the H and h consummate their relationship, funny goes the heck out of the window! The H is so far over the top possessive and has zero trust in his wife (h) that it is sickening. Now, I am very familiar with Rakhii being possessive and even Kleptomaniacs. But, Ms. Milo tries to create schakeling a woman, with iron chain and shackle that tears into the flesh of the person that this Rakhii is supposed to keep most dear and then demand that she wear a iron chastity belt or continue to be shackled to the bed, even though he already knows that it hurts her, is just sick! What I really liked about this series was even with the Rakhii being possessive, they always cared about their beloved above all else, cherished them and would do anything to protect them and hold them happy. Hobs, Rakhii and even pirates cherished women. Now, this one is so over the top crazy, bordering on torturously, possessive and Ms. Milo is portraying this as cute and y!?!? Oh HECK NO! I have no desire to read items like this! In any method idolizing kidnapping, chaining a person to a bed causing harm, wanting to hold the woman held captive and chained or force the woman to wear a medieval torture device, just because the is so good? Aw heck no! Ladies, don't walk, RUN away from this book!

Oh my horns! I love this book. It is a unbelievable addition to the Saved by an Alien world. This book is HILARIOUS. I'm so satisfied to see people from previous books. I'm also thrilled that the grouchy Rakhii quarry master gets his own love story. Isla and Bubashuu, aka Bash, are a quirky, funny couple. This is a slow burn romance, but it burns so well that I will be re-reading this book, just like all the others in the series.I like how Isla has one-and-a-half arms, so she isn't the standard romance novel heroine. She's also another human abducted by aliens, so her story is interesting. I enjoyed how Bash didn't message her lack of a hand until he created a poorly chosen joke. Ah, the poor joke... I think that his surly, grouchy attitude is beautiful funny. Just read the story to search out how he became such a jerk. (Oh, there's so much funny loaded in the word "jerk" now.)This book took me into a Rakhii home, taught me a few fresh words in English (gasp) as well as Rakhii, and showed more fascinating and disgusting alien foods. I absolutely adore how alien the aliens are. Amanda Milo is awesome at creating fresh species and cultures to go with e only thing I didn't like was how the kinky stuff caused Isla pain or irritation. I know, an ankle cuff created of metal is going to irritate, but I prefer the fuzzy type. Anyway, everyone has their own thing. This couple is a small kinky. It just adds to this wonderfully wacky story.

A delightful blend of humor, irascible rakhii, human foibles, and exotic romance! I am thrilled with the story and love being back in a globe with rakhii, hobs, gryfala, and humans. Bouts of laughter greatly lengthen the time it takes to read this novel novel!I love the creative word-descriptions that so aptly reveal Bash’s thoughts. Seeing things from his viewpoint is quite an eye-opener. I absolutely adore Isla’s sense of humor, her irrepressible spirit, and her ability to change Bash’s mood! Despite Bubashuu’s mad bellows, threats, bursts of flames and smoke, it is apparent that he has the best interests of his workers in mind. He’s not a poor fellow at is is one of my favorite series. Now I need to reread the earlier books. I’m not ready to leave here yet. I’m hoping to see Mandi’s story next - she’s been on my mind for a while. Don’t miss this, it is perfect reading!

I was so excited to see a fresh AM book. I saw that this was a slow burn romance, so I thought I knew what to me, this story wasn't slow burn, it was just slow. And e writting and spelling etc. was as amazing as always. I truly liked the characters and the concept of the book. I love AM's quirky thought process and love for general (or not so general) knowledge.But...my idea of slow burn is that the characters take a while to fall in love and then maybe take a while to act on those feelings. In this story they fell in love beautiful quickly, and then nothing happens. And nothing keeps on event for a long time.I tried to convince myself that it was cool to just read about life on the quarry and learn more general knowledge. But it was only interesting for so long. It was like an office romance where you spend hours reading about how the MC's did filling and data capturing together while one of them talks incessantly. If they fell in love quickly, but some exciting or risky thing happened to hold them from acting on those feelings then great. But not e h also had verbal diarrhea to an extent that even I found it too much. And I love general knowledge and am myself someone who talks too O this book was 50% longer than it should have been. I loved the characters and the concept, it was just spoiled by dragging on for method to long.

She was so much fun to spend time time and played off really well with the mmc. I wasn't a huge fan of the mmc, he's written really well, but he's our most possessive rhakkii to date and I'm glad our mfc loved it so much because anything less would be chaffing. When are we getting Mandi's story?!! The back and forth with these two is amazing and while Damon starts to soften, Chelsea still doesn’t give him much wiggle eir interlude five years before definitely had an impact on both and they quickly decide to act on that e relationship and introduction as father to Luna seemed really quick, but it satisfied to see more humor from Penelope Bloom since she is such a master at it!!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was so excited to read Jack's book. I loved him in the previous book, so to finally understand why he feels like he does. I loved the relationship between Nola and Jack. They completed one another without even trying. I understand that Penelope Bloom has another champion on her hands. Loved the ending!!

Dominic (aka Charming...said with a smirk) Russo is wealthy, amazing looking, and grumpy. His staff fears him, his family is in disarray, and he hates his job at his mother's fashion magazine. Enter Ally Morales, the pizza server Dominic just got fired! She's broke, working multiple dead-end jobs, trying to take care of her ill father, plus remodeling a cash pit house. To top it off, Dominic's mother has just given her a job in the high stakes, chop throat globe of Fresh York fashion publishing...a small close for Dominic's comfort. Ally is snarky, independent, proud, and not afraid to take on a y, vest wearing grump. These two are combustible and it's going to obtain hotter than hell between the devil and his irreverent nemesis!Once again Lucy Score has crafted a standalone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ five star read. The banter, the rom-com humor, the tension, and the exquisite storyline are Ms. Score's trademarks. Her hero development, editing, and attention to detail is sublime! By a Thread is a loooong book so sit back, relax, and be prepared to dive into another sizzling bestseller by this talented author!

Lucy has done it again! This book has ALL the feels. It’s so much more than a romance. Family dynamics, grief, inclusiveness, consent, forgiveness, worthiness, and of course an epic HEA all rolled into one book. The witty banter and humor is on a whole various level. Quite simply: It’s perfect.

Bash is hates humans but he is hilarious in his dislike of them. He has a lot of inventive ways of doing them in. Then he meets Isla and falls like a ton of bricks, whether he wants to or not.

I’ve already read this girthy emotional powerhouse twice, and it lacks nothing in the re-read. Massively powerful, emotional, y, and funny as only Lucy Score can bring. And bring it she does. Her best book minic Russo has nothing to be satisfied or hopeful about. A job he thinks he hates, a mother he thinks he resents, underlings he lives to terrify. Days full of emptiness and meaningless meetings. Until one cold evening when he walks into a grungy pizzeria and goes toe to toe with the plucky Ally Morales. Hanging on by a thread Ally. Ally, who literally has nothing but nerve and guts to sustain her.And so begins their dance. Not a attractive waltz, nope. Not even a sensual tango. It’s a down and dirty grind as they spit fire at each other. Never have two people been so right for each other despite all their differences. Never has love been so hard-won. I dare you to read this book and not be moved by Ally and Dom!

The nicknames, the banter, the grudging respect all lead to an epic m IS grumpy grump face and I absolutely adored him. Ally is my fresh favorite Lucy Score heroine. Intelligent and sassy, her large heart was a huge part of this story. From a possibility encounter in a hotel room, ties Chelsea Cross and Damon Rose in ways they don't even know. Quick forward 9 months later and Chelsea is raising her baby daughter as a single mom, deciding not to tell Damon about the broken condom. Now 5 years later Chelsea is in desperate need of a job. She has exhaused her efforts everyone except heading to the man himself - the man she has tried to stop thinking about for the latest five years but still manages to penetrate her inner-most thoughts. Damon hasn't forgotten his rendezvous with Chelsea and decides he will take her on as an employee, if only for the pleasure of giving her menial tasks. What starts as a firey boss-employee relationship, mixes in with unresolved tension and jealously that oozes appeal. Maybe there's something more then just a boss/employee dynamic between them, maybe with a small time and trust they might actually search oh wow. This book was INCREDIBLE! I was suckered in from the first page, Chelsea's witty banter and Damon's dry humor was hysterical. Their dynamic had me both cheering for more action and more banter because their words just flowed off the page. I search it rare to obtain so lost in a book- but this book was one of those. I fell so in love with the characters from Chelsea - to Damon - to Luna and even the loveable but idiotic Chris. This book dishes out the romance but it also has this undeniable likeability that has you routing for Damon and his company to succeed and for him to begin his heart once again - that it is time for him to finally allow love in. Seriously this is a MUST READ. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am already sending out the recommends to mates :DI received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m blown away! Penelope Bloom outdid herself with this book... I loved it from the very first page. She’@#$%! a home-run, this book is so special and original. I loved the two main characters, Damon is a grumpy bosshole whom is ice cold and would freeze you in put with just one look. Chelsea, a care-free stubborn as can be and is a struggling tennis player that happens to me the devil himself and as stubborn as she is she can’t back down from a fight. I loved how Chelsea is not like any other heroine in books, how she doesn’t listen to others poor mouth Damon and how she’s fast to give him the benefit of the doubt, loved how she’d confront Damon about everything and took gossip at face value. Loved how fiercely she loved and protected the ones she cares about. I got an ARC but I will definitely purchase this book to add to my library of favorite books to go back and re-read. This was the happiest read I must say. I loved how mean and impatient Bash was and how much he adored Isla (basically on sight). This isn't a stressful or painful or difficult book in any way. It's funny and hot and light hearted and joyful and y. Isla and Bash are both adults who know what they want. They have insecurities and struggle with communication a small at a few points but it's really nice to read something so I am an absolute sucker for grouchy or wounded character falls in love. And Isla is the most cheerful and sensible person?! At one point she delightedly refers to him as her obsessive stalker which is a nice change from all the romance book heroines who pretend to be afraid of that or dislike it. The reason it's such a common trope in novels is because it's reassuring and fun and hot at least in book form and it was kind of nice to read a book where the female hero didn't seem to feel obligated to problem pro forma objections. "Oh no super hot guy I'm already wildly in love with please don't follow me around adoring me and growling at all other males in my vicinity."Also she has one arm and isn't described as being a knockout beauty in any method and it isn't at all a huge deal which was kind of fun. All in all, highly recommended.

I liked 1, haven't reread 2 since the first reading (I can't deal with the triggers, my issue, amazing book but sends me into a dark place), 3 was fun, 4 ok, 5 (my former favorite) and 6 was alright. This one is the sh, as in I'll bash you if you can't hold up, is the quarry master. Digging rock isn't fun, to humans, but is cathartic to this grumpy Rakhii. One day while griping about his useless human labor he says something that lands him in problem with said useless humans. Apparently the joke he created about how they couldn't work slower if they only had 1 arm, well, when everyone turned to look at the human with only 1 arm, yeah. Thus begins the downfall of Ebenezer la is used to working hard. Having only 1 hand means everything she does is just a small more difficult. But it doesn't stop her. It's what she's used to. And nothing could be worse than where she was- an extrovert kept in solitary. Now her words have a willing victim, Bash. The sourpuss who loathes puny humans and shakes hobs for entertainment is following her around, actually telling her to talk more. This bonding thing is no joke.Spoilers ahead.Ok, so, really, this one is my absolute fresh favorite. It has set a high, high bar for curmudgeonly and cantankerousness behavior from here on out. Bash is adorable. King of his domain, vowing vengeance on the puny peons, hob piñatas, literally breathing fire when riled, griping about his score board and throne? You fall quick. Isla is tough but an adorably goofy chatterbox. All those months alone created it worse. And when a Rakhii bonds they'll do anything for their mate. Even suffer the horrors of the damned, like listening to verbal incontinence, and being near, gasp, people. All the individual stories so far are starting to come together. We've been introduced to most of our community members now, via their own tales or as background characters. So when their stories come up, we have a sense of knowing them already. And after this one I can't wait. I'm so glad I hung in after 2. The prologue and epilogue of this book were almost excellent bookends (pun intended) to the story. And the method this one ends with the bachelor/mate raiding cruise being planned? Yeah, some hob/Rakhii, human hijinks are in only complaint is that there are a few scenes in this story where Isla spontaneously pops up with 2 hands. Otherwise it was great. And, as always, I'll be looking for the next.

Buckle up buttercup for a ride with this book. Expect to laugh out loud, shed a few tears, obtain mad on behalf of some characters, have your heartstrings pulled, swoon, and most of all fall in love with so a lot of characters in this book. You also need to settle in. It is a long one, but the story moves along at a amazing pace. You will be wondering where the time is isn't just an opponents to lovers book…it's an opponents to frenemies to mates (sort of) to lovers story with a lot of bumps along the way. The chemistry and the push and pull between these characters leaps off the page. The banter and snarkiness is hilarious, smart, and entertaining. You can't wait to see what they will say and do next. The steaminess is hot with this one too. You know it's amazing when there is serious sizzle when the characters aren't even touching each other. If I haven't sold you on the book yet then allow me talk about Dominic. He is one of the grumpiest heroes I have ever read…and he is unbelievable and glorious. He is one of my favorite grumpy characters ever. Not only that but there are so a lot of layers to him. It was a real delight peeling back the layers of grumpiness to search what was inside, and trust me it's even better! Ally is the excellent self-proclaimed Pollyanna to him. It's not all sunshine and rainbows with her. Somehow she keeps that optimism through grit, determination, and tenacity. There is depth to both of these characters that is a real joy to ere are some subjects addressed in this book that are very relevant to society today and family problems a lot of face. Kudos to the author on how she incorporated the problems into the story in a very true and believable way. As with any book by this author, the secondary characters are just as intriguing and captivating as the main is is a complete standalone, and it is not connected to any other book or series. All of these characters are fresh and a joy to learn about. Whether you've never read this author or you are a long time fan, you definitely need this book. It's one of those that will stick with you for a while in the best possible way.

Lucy Score shows us with this release that she can write it all. She can write romantic comedies that will create you laugh until you cry. Military romances? Sure. Attractive gut-wrenching stories of deep and abiding love? Yup. Scorching love scenes that you don't dare read in public? Absolutely. This fresh release, By a Thread, shows she has the prose chops to deliver a character you sort of can't stand and also can't support but love, and a heroine who is all sass on the surface, but who is being dragged down by life cirtances beyond her my private opinion, if you aren't rooting for the couple to achieve their happily ever after, then there's really no reason to read a romance novel. Well, allow me tell you in no uncertain terms, you will root for Dom and Ally like you'd root for your squad when they've had a dry spell of 50 years and create it to the "BIG GAME". (As an aside, I'd like to offer another round of apologies to the neighbors for my behavior during the past Super Bowl. #goChiefs.) And because it's Lucy Score, you can expect a full cast of supporting characters that will create you wish to beg her for their stories next. This is unadvisable, but a natural reaction to reading anything she's ever place between book covers.Of course, this is a romance, a fantasy, a work of fiction. But I believe the leading characters and the storyline itself were crafted in a method that gives them an unexpected and attractive sense of reality. In my opinion, this is one of Ms. Score's very best efforts yet. Read the book now, you can thank me later.

She does have a bit of excess pride that gets in her method in her relationship with Dom, but you know it's going to be a happily-ever-after because it's a Lucy Score m is grumpy, but despite him protesting to the contrary, he is the grump with a heart of gold. Lucy managed to take office romance, enemies-to-lovers, romantic comedy, grumpy hero, opposites attract, and all the feels and combine them into the excellent novel. It’s a unbelievable escape, because while it has the excellent splash of reality, it also has witty banter, characters you will adore, and a HEA that will leave you giddy and swooning.I couldn’t love Dom and Ally more. Dom comes across as an alphahole to some, but he is so much more, and we obtain to see that other side of him. He’s so generous and wants to take care of those he loves. He wants to be a amazing man. He wants to be deserving of love, but he’s just not sure he is. Enter Ally. She’s an optimist through and through, but sometimes she takes on too much. She has a large heart, and she can see straight through Dom. She is sassy and sweet. Together, they are incredible...if they can just obtain past all their obstacles and obtain is book is full of emotion. I laughed, like so much! I cried tears of both joy and sadness. I swooned, and not gonna lie, I could feel the heat! When I started reading, I had such a hard time stopping for anything! I read most of the night then got right back up and dove right back in. There have been few books lately that have grabbed and held my attention quite like this one did. Do yourself a favor and grab your copy today!

My (Mostly) Secret Baby: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy []  2020-7-10 18:0

I love a grumpy boss and I also love Bloom's brand of comedy, so I took a possibility on this one despite the fact that secret babies are my least favorite trope. While I didn't necessarily love that element of the storyline, there's a lot of fun humor and playfulness to this romance. It's also the steamiest book that I've read from Bloom in quite a while, with a relationship that's part bickering and part tension. The office romance and comedy both work well, but I definitely had a few problems with the storyline that kept me from fully connecting to this one (more on that in a minute). The story follows Damon, a sports agent who relies on being a jerk to manage his employees. When he meets Chelsea, it's both loathe and lust at first sight. The two combust in one fast and kinda mean hookup before parting ways. Five years later, Chelsea shows back up for an interview at Damon's company. Thinking that it will be fun to torture her into quitting, Damon offers Chelsea a position. But that logic quickly backfires as the two spend more time together and it becomes apparent that their combustible chemistry was not a fluke. The only problem? Actions have consequences, and Chelsea never told Damon about the adorable effect of their first love of Bloom's comedy created me willing to overlook the secret baby storyline, assuming it was handled correctly. However, while I can KIND OF understand Chelsea's reason for not telling Damon, they knew each other for all of two mins before hooking up the first time (seriously), so I don't personally feel that his moodiness was a amazing enough reason to not mention the pregnancy. That encounter also seemed to be the catalyst for all of their feelings, and I just didn't buy it. They essentially meet, bang, and move on within 15 minutes. Add in some OW drama, a playboy past, mixed messages, and a very instalove feel, and this started to lose me. I can handle all of those things in little doses but they built up until they overtook the love story. There's a lot of amazing here but it wasn't enough to create up for the problems that kept me disconnected. So while this one doesn't top my list of favorites from the author, it's still a fun (and very y) read, especially if you're looking for steamy comedy. I received an ARC via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review of this office romance.

My (Mostly) Temporary Nanny: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy []  2020-11-16 18:0

Six-Year-Olds Ben And Griff Add To The Mischief, But They Also Add To The Stakes At Risk As The MLB Pitcher & His Nanny Consider Taking Things To The Next is is the third book in My (Mostly) Funny Romance series. Fans will love to see that the Rose brothers, whose stories are in books one and two, play a role here as well. Damon and Chris are both real to character, and Chris cannot support but stand out as the crazy ADHD bumbling genius that he is. Don’t forget to download the free gift scenes via the link at the back of the book! It takes put sometime following the close of this book. While it takes mins to read, it still garners a laugh (thanks to Chris again). It also contains an author’s note about the series and what is to a fast review, book one, My (Mostly) Secret Baby, is Damon Rose and Chelsea Cross’s story. Damon started Rose Athletic Representatives in NYC to support save his younger brother from himself. Between the antics that have Chris Rose floating from crisis to crisis and his naivete about the business, Chris’s career longevity and future security are constantly in doubt. Hence Damon stepped up to ensure that his brother’s standing as the most popular and successful QB in the league remains in tact. Chelsea Cross is a has been tennis player who [email protected]#$%! hard times. She reluctantly turns to Rose Athletics and applies for a job, simultaneously wondering if Damon Rose might be worthy of learning her secret. In book two, My (Mostly) Fake Wedding, Damon’s brother Chris gets his own story with wedding planner Belle Waters. Damon and Chelsea are now married, and their daughter Luna, six, has been in Damon’s life for one year. Chris is in problem again if he doesn’t do something about his poor reputation, and his contract is coming up for renewal. Damon arranges a solution to the problem, if only Chris can stick to the plan. Zany humor and laugh out loud moments abound as the troublemaking NFL quarterback finds himself hooked on his fake wedding is story opens in NYC just under a year later. Luna, Damon Chelsea’s daughter, is approaching her seventh birthday and Chris is anxious as Belle approaches her due la Castille, early twenties, is a scatterbrain and prone to babbling without a filter. Her life was turned upside down three years ago when her parents died in an accident. Instead of parties and fun times like others her age, she barely stays afloat working as a waitress while raising her six-year-old brother Griff. While she loves him, Griff is no ordinary child. He has a penchant for pranks. He is only in kindergarten, but he has already been suspended from school and the street ahead bodes to be a challenge. Frazzled by her small demon and financial strain, she nevertheless remains optimistic while devoting herself to raising Griff. There is one dream she hopes to fulfill one day – a dream that had belonged to her parents. She hopes to hold their memory alive by opening the small restaurant in Florida that they had their hearts set on before their untimely death.Jack Kerrigan, roughly twenty-four, is not impressed by cash and fame. The cranky mountain of a man is the hottest MLB pitcher in the league, and his agent Damon Rose is not about to allow him throw it all away. Jack is at a crossroads as the season is two weeks from starting. He announced he is walking away for a year or two to spend more time with his son six-year-old son Ben, confident in athletic skills and his ability to return to the android game whenever he chooses. Ben has become increasingly withdrawn despite Jack’s efforts to engage him. He drags Ben to android games and practice but the boy has no interest in sports. He has problem making mates at school. Drawing is his only interest and he isn’t much for talking. Jack reluctantly agrees to meet Damon and Chris, his college buddy, at a diner to discuss some alternative ideas that will satisfy Jack and let Damen to negotiate a fresh deal for him to play this season. Jack is adamant about his decision until that fateful meeting. When Jack enters the diner, Nola is drawn to the inked and bearded giant. And she cannot support but note the contrast between him and the little boy in tow. His troubled expression speaks to her grief and hardship, and she finds his klutziness adorable. Jack finds himself attracted to the ditzy and rambling redhead waitress, but he has no interest in women now. He needs to give Ben all his attention. It is poor enough that his son doesn’t have his mom. Relationships end, and Ben is too fragile to have his hopes ride on transient mother figures. But when he sees that Ben has snuck away and created mates with the beautiful waitress’s son, his plans suddenly change. When Jack hires Nola as Ben’s nanny and returns to work, everything seems to fall into place. Ben begins to come out of his shell, he and Griff form a miraculous friendship, and Jack and Nola feel a pull that seems inevitable. But Jack’s priority is Ben, and he cannot mess things up for his son by starting anything with the nanny. A nanny can stay indefinitely, after all, but relationships end. And Nola is faced with a dilemma as she weighs her parents’ dream of Florida versus the chance of a relationship with Jack. Everything gets even more complicated, however, when the past makes a reappearance.Jack and Nola’s story is enriched by Ben and Griff. The boys’ characters are unique, and their darling friendship is a case of opposites attracting. All four characters suffer from a sense of loss and abandonment. Jack and Ben feel the loss of Ben’s mother in his life, and Nola and Griff grieve for their parents and the comfort of family. Jack channeled his feelings into raising Ben, as did Nola with Griff. But while Ben turned inward in his abandonment, Griff turned to trouble. Nola’s presence in Jack’s life is freshening, and the boys both thrive, but they both have problems to resolve is they wish to consider the chance trying something ny comedy and steamy chemistry abound in Jack and Nola’s grumpy boss story. Six-year-olds Ben and Griff add to the mischief, but they also add to the stakes at risk as the MLB pitcher and his nanny consider taking things to the next step. By my count there are twenty-six laugh out loud moments, most of which are in the first half. The story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are wonderfully crafted and colorful. The boys are a unbelievable addition, but a number of very minor characters continue to come to mind – such as the baker and the elderly babysitter. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Jack and Nola, with one adorable chapter in Ben’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
