Im honestly surprised there aren't more Christmas film tutorials out there but they would have a tough time topping this one. This tutorial is incredibly comprehensive and Alonso's writing style makes it a very interesting read even if you dont think you that huge a fan of holiday movies. Amazing read!

Christmas films are so fun to watch and this book is informative with fun facts and info about some of our favorite movies. I never see much about one of my favorites, the remake of Christmas in Connecticut with Tony Curtis/Dyan Cannon.

is what this CD evokes for me...this was THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM growing up in my house and I'm just TOO "JAZZED" AND DELIGHTED that it's on CD now...this was my introduction to who Kenny Burrell is and the first JAZZ album I liked growing up. Favorites are: Small Drummer Boy, Have Yourself a Merry Small Christmas, My Favorite Things and Silent Night...my parents played the first side the most because they loved the Small Drummer Boy...I discovered the second side when I taped their album to listen to now that I'm an adult...so excuse me while I purchase two copies of this CD (one for me, one for my folks) and reflect on some unbelievable Christmas memories and make some fresh ones with the CD...a classic!

At my house, we have a list of tons of Christmas films that we choose from for our holiday season viewing each year. Yes, we watch classics like "Christmas in Connecticut," "White Christmas," "A Christmas Story," "A Christmas Carol," "Meet Me In St. Louis," and "It's a Unbelievable Life." But we also watch less well known, but equally enjoyable, Christmas films like the 40s movie noir "Lady In The Lake," the wartime drama "I'll Be Seeing You" (with Ginger Rogers and Joseph Cotten), the late Ingmar Bergman masterwork "Fanny and Alexander," the romantic comedy/drama "Remember the Night," the fine contemporary British movie "Millions," the zany dark comedy "The Ref," and the 70s TV family story "The Homecoming" (the pilot for The Waltons series). All of these, and a lot of more, are featured in this perfect tutorial to holiday movies. The movies are organized into chapters focusing on comedies, kids' movies, grown-ups' movies, tearjerkers, crime and action stories, horror, poor Christmas movies, and the huge classics; there's even a whole chapter on the different movies of ens' "A Christmas Carol." The plot and cast of each movie is described in detail, with assessments of how the particular film fits into the holiday canon and "fun facts" about the movie and the makers/actors. (For example, did you know that the director/star of "Lady in the Lake," Robert Montgomery, was the father of "Bewitched" star Elizabeth Montgomery?) At the end of the book, there's an appendix listing tons of other films with Christmas is is a very useful tutorial to holiday films that will give you amazing ideas for viewing beyond the major classics. On top of that, it's just fun and interesting to read. While the author didn't contain all of my private favorites among Christmas films (for example, "Love Finds Andy Hardy," which is set at Christmastime, isn't featured), I didn't really expect that -- and he did write about a lot of of my favorites. As it is, this book gives a amazing overview of a lot of holiday movies that are worth watching.

Duralde does a unbelievable job going beyond the obvious holiday tropes and curates a truly inspiring list of Christmas classics. The chapter on holiday heist movies is wonderfully inspired, but if you also wish a detailed ysis of all the major Christmas Carols out there, Film Small Christmas does the job as , you gotta love an author who can use the word "codswallop" when he picks apart the mistake that was Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage.

Mostly groovy stuff, what you'd expect from Burrell's tenure at the Cadet label. 3 various arrangers - Esmond Edwards, Richard Evans and Kenny Burrell. No true clinkers, and "My Favorite Things" is awesome. Kenny of course is playing his backside off.

A small soulful, a small funky, and yes, a small dated, but that only adds to the charm. I love this CD and want I'd bought it earlier in the Christmas season so I could have enjoyed it for a longer time. Oh well, now I have another reason to look forward to next Christmas.

Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas (Limelight) []  2020-12-18 21:37

Despite the too-easy title of my review, don't create the mistake of thinking that this terrific compendium of Christmas cinema touches only on the safe and familiar. "Have Yourself a Film Small Christmas" is the excellent listing of holiday movies, making sure to contain beloved classics like Unbelievable Life, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, and the myriad versions of A Christmas Carol, but also branching out into such various holiday-film categories as heist and horror. Independent L.A. movie critic Alonso Duralde brings an encyclopedic knowledge of movie to his task, but never condescends or comes across as anything less delightful than a real lover of movies, and Christmas films in particular. If you can't wait for December to bring you Hollywood's holiday goodies every year, "Have Yourself a Film Small Christmas" will whet your appetite for merry films all the year through. Leonard Maltin just included it on a list of essential film reference books, and having read through it twice, dog-earing all the way, I have to agree.

~ I have a lot of Kenny Burrell CDs in my collection. I have a fair number of Christmas CDs in my collection. Having this CD that combines the two is wonderful. I had the original 1966 LP ver and wore it out by playing it so a lot of times every Christmas season. Having it on CD allows me to play and re-play it and have fun it even more than I did in the past.~ The arrangements by Richard Evans, Kenny, and Esmond Edwards on different tunes are outstanding - orchestra conducted by Richard nny's solos are as usual tasteful, artistic, and swinging.~ All tracks are excellent, but "Little Drummer Boy" and "My Favorite Things" are elevated to the level of being amazing by the arrangements and solos.~ If you play this CD along with Jimmy Smith's  Christmas Cookin'  CD you will have yourself a Jazzy Small Christmas.

A must have for anyone who loves chord music song arrangements. Burrell's playing rivals Joe Pass as heard on Sux String Santa but has his own bluesy feel infused into these classic Christmas songs, especially Lottle Drummer Boy.

Very interesting book concerning various Christmas films available for viewing. I especially am always looking for post-WWII films concerning families at Christmastime while a loved one is serving overseas. Most of the films I have discovered do not leave me disappointed. This book will be helpful in finding other films taking put around the holiday.

I picked this by mistake and I'm glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised to hear guitar melody played with warmth. I haven't heard such melody since Wes Montgomery. The "Little Drummer Boy" is one of the tunes you close your eyes and hum along and by the time you obtain to "Merry Christmas Baby", you are ready to obtain dressed and party all night long. With cognac in hand you will want everyone a very Soulful Christmas!

    We'll Always Have Christmas: A gorgeously uplifting Christmas romance []  2020-1-24 23:15

I've really come to love Jenny Hale's writing. The stakes always rise and you can't quite figure how the two lovebirds will work it out, but she always comes up with a solution I didn't expect. I especially loved the characters in this book and how they were all a part of the deeper plot, not just the two main characters. Cash and means is certainly a part of the plot as well (solves a lot of problems--creates some, too), but it's used lovingly, thoughtfully, and beautifully. I really enjoyed how it added to the sweet, romantic elements in this book.

I like the author okay and enjoyed the story. It was a sweet simple romance. No or swear words which I appreciated. However, the drinking was totally obsessive. None of the characters could hardly keep a conversation without taking a drink. I think it was just for a filler because the author didn't have anything else to say. Hello. Take a drink. Life is wonderful. Take a drink. We need to talk about the weather. Take a drink. See you later. Take a drink. Hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

Hale is a amazing writer. But of the 3 I've read in this series, it's my least fav. It follows the formula of others, but the characters didn't seem as interesting nor did I care for how story unfolded. Maybe the "formula," gets old or predictable after a few books. Not as amazing as I hoped.

As a Christmas CD collector since the 1980s, there are very few fresh compilations that attract my attention. This one makes me smile and deserves a huge thumbs-up. Fun and festive selections from the 1930s, 40s, and 50's are nestled nicely in a 75-minute remastered romp through noel nostalgia. The accompanying song-by-song booklet has a load of images and liner notes for which the Bear Family has become famous.I would have asked Santa to bring me this CD, but I couldn't wait and I'm glad now I got it early.

This is a well-produced CD full of amazing renditions of Christmas songs from the '40s and '50s, mostly. It is a very consonant collection, more along the lines of Perry Como than more jazzy artists. Still, there is a lot here, including versions I have not heard before. Disc comes with a nice booklet with classic artwork.

I liked that the company also sent out a little pamphlet of their other products, it created the purchase feel more personal. On a side note, we live in America and have a region 1 DVD player. The DVD player will play CDs as well, but would not play this particular CD. However, it does play just fine in CD players.

Melody was really entertaining. The cheap producer, however, diminished the quality of the productby including very not good identity information on the recording. Only information was "Track #" (Track 1, 2, etc) and the lengthof recording time for each track. No song titles, no Artist identified on disc. When I entered the album intomy PC, I spent a lot of time ( a couple of hours) manually entering all the identifying data for each track... Thisis NOT AN APPROPRIATE BURDEN . This also happened on an otherwise attractive $20 Eaglesalbum (which I was authorized to return, at my INconvenience) and an Everly Brothers album I previously r this reason, I'm NOT BUYING ANY MORE CDs from Amazon. One would expect better quality control by acompany on whose products one spends thousands of dollars year after year.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Scandal: a Christmas collection of Historical Romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little. Book 2) []  2020-11-7 18:26

I enjoyed reading A Scandalous Secret by Laura Trentham, one of the a lot of novellas in the anthology Have Yourself a Merry Small Scandal. This story has the all the fixings one would expect from a historical suspense. We have the mystery of why is someone following and attacking Victoria, daughter of Britain’s chief spymaster. Then there’s the hero: orphan, spy and family bodyguard Thomas. Problem, the attraction and chemistry between the two; after all, Thomas has been working at Victoria’s home since the two were young teens. As these two mature, the attraction, chemistry and feelings only grow stronger. After Victoria is attacked in an alley and Thomas rescues her, the two search shelter in a little cottage, with only one bed. After finally discovering that the attacks were a case of mistaken identity, the two seek approval and blessing for a future together from her parents, while all of them are at a Holiday gathering.I loved how powerful and independent Victoria was characterized; whether it being cirtantial or inherent. Thomas tried vigilantly to be honorable, but his love for Victoria and willingness to do her bidding was enough to cause him to break his own rules about crossing the Trentham wrote a attractive love story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with kindness, magnetic attraction, off the charts chemistry, amazing conversations, and endearing characters giving Victoria and Thomas a possibility at finding a forever love. I highly recommend the story A Scandalous Secret to other readers and hope to read the other stories in the Have Yourself a Merry Small Scandal anthology.I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this story.

A Scandalous Secret – Laura TrenthamA bodyguard story – yes, please. The class distinction stories are always so good. I’m not amazing enough, yes you are. Thomas and Victoria are so sweet together and grow as a couple. How can Victoria convince Thomas they are meant to be together, yes he knows but is very resistant. Spy stories are some of my favorites and the small mystery in this short story really grabs your attention. Oh, and there is a small scandalous secret…shh, not telling. Her Virgin Duke – Nicola DavidsonPractice makes perfect. At least that is what Bennett thinks and he is so right. I loved this story of the Mistress of Sin and the Virgin Duke. I really liked Delilah. She was not portrayed as a sleazy goddess but as a down to earth person who enjoyed and had actual feels for others and amazing business aen. Such a joy to read. Bennett, bless his heart, was so repressed that when he allow go…watch out girls, cover yourselves. An awesome story.A Scandal Before Christmas – April MoranI love second possibility romances and this one has it all (even if I would have loved to hold reading about Theodore and Lauren). The backstory was fleshed out and the re-courting commenced well. You have to hand to Theodore, he was tenacious in his pursuit of Lauren. These two loved each other, it was all about trust and being honest. A amazing Christmas gue for Hire – Sasha CottmanThe character in this book has an amazing name, Lord Harry Steele. He and his mates are small on the illegal side but are trying very hard to create their legitimate business work. Enter Harry and his “secrets” business. Alice hires Harry to break up her sister’s infatuation (you know how that goes) and end up falling in love. What Alice does not realize is that her sister and the fortune hunter (who really isn’t, sort of) are actually in love so what can you do. A very cute story and it seems to be the beginning of a fresh series! YAY!A Lady’s Tutorial to Scandal – Emmanuelle de MassupassantI like stories that are a bit of out the norm. This is the second story I have read by Em that features a Texas native. Those old west men are yummy. The archaeological aspects of the story are very interesting especially since I knew some of the locations mentioned. You have these two amazing characters who create a pact to escape matchmaking relatives but guess what? Yes, of course, they fall in love. A nice small adventure story.I received a complimentary copy from the author.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Secret : a Christmas collection of historical romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little... Book 1) []  2020-10-24 18:17

My review is based on 'Yuletide Secrets' by S. Cinders. I've tried not to miss any of S. Cinders' books. She has the innate ability to make a globe that is both realistic and magical, intertwine powerful yet vulnerable characters throughout, ad weave a plot that keeps me intrigued to the very end. 'Yuletide Secrets' is no exception to this. The manor in Rakesburg, England had no less than thirty-six windows on the front side and employed forty-two servants. All for one family member, Lady Anne. Don't allow appearances deceive you. This heroine is strong-willed, opinionated, and has the intelligence to back it up. All of that has left her suitors wanting a lack of measure-up. Ian has already had a relationship with a woman that did not end well for either of them. The only blessing is from the delights of the daughter he had no idea was his for the first five years of her life. Add to this a godmother who has a penchant for match-making and a personality full of mischief, a set of twins boys full of playfulness and personality, and all the rules, preconceived rules of the ton, a mystery that could turn dire and we have an all-out wonderful, sigh-worthy read. There are several authors in this anthology I recognize and several which are fresh to me. I look forward to reading through the rest of the stories.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Scandal: a Christmas collection of Historical Romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little. Book 2) []  2020-11-7 18:26

Have yourself a merry small scandalA dozens of short, steamy Christmas tales, all involving some sort of scandal in the plot. This collection is not clean—please don’t give poor reviews to dirty books because you don’t like to read dirty books. Just look at the reviews for that warning and then don’t read them if that’s not to your taste. I’m sure the authors won’t be is collection has regency, Victorian, and turn of the century (~1900) stories. Brief plots and reactions to each are below. Some stories are better than others, and there are a few that could have stood to be proofread more thoroughly. Overall, gives a lot of hours of gue for hireLord Harry, reprobate youngest son, makes his living as a “fixer”—he and his mates offer a lot of services on the edge of (and firmly outside) the law. Alice asks him to save her sister from a fortune hunter, and they search they are well-matched. But will Alice be OK with Harry’s work? The begin of a fresh series, it seems, and I’m looking forward to more of stories featuring these characters.Highlander’s Christmas LassieThis was a bittersweet story, and although there is the HEA expected, thinking of Malcolm’s years spent searching for his lost love and their kid created it harder to e Christmas RoseLudo and Bunty are unbelievable characters and I fell in love with these two. I only want the story had been longer so I could have fun more of them. Two somewhat lost souls search happiness together after they are forced to marry because he accidentally compromised dy’s Tutorial to ScandalCornelia is somewhere between a spinster and a widow. Although widowed, she seems more like a spinster with a poor reputation due to her scandalous mother and late husband. She meets Ethan, a Texan archaeologist, and he is smitten but has problems to address before they can have their HEA.Fate Gave me a DukeIf I had a dollar for every incorrect apostrophe in this story, I could buy several more books. So badly proofread that the errors are distracting—the other stories were much better in this regard. This is another “had to marry because he compromised her (sort of) accidentally” stories, but beyond that, not a lot of story happens. They don’t hate being married and they have lots of urtship CaperI almost dnf’d this one, because it was a comedy of errors situation where everyone was misunderstanding everyone else about who loved who, and it was just silly. The misunderstandings went on far too long, and the meddling sisters behind the attempted setups were clueless and annoying. Sorry, I’ve read others by this author that I enjoyed, but this one just wasn’t for me.Duncan’s ChristmasHighlander Duncan is in London to retrieve his runaway betrothed, Mary. Not to marry her, since she ran off to be with an English vicar, but her father wants her home. Unfortunately, Duncan mistakenly abducts her sister Jane instead. Jane is in London helping Mary through a difficult pregnancy. Mary isn’t going home, Jane isn’t going home, and Duncan isn’t returning without at least one sister to present for his retrieval efforts. While waiting for Mary to deliver the baby, Duncan learns all about deviled, A Russian PursuitA companion story to an earlier novel, Betrothed, the Petroski brothers are back. Small brother Ilya is pretending to be Prince Demitri in order to support him break his engagement by scandalizing his fiancée (read about that in Betrothed), but Ilya has his eyes on a various prize, and misbehaving for his brother is not helping his cause. This was a long slow story— lots and lots of description of inner turmoil with relatively less actual action. I don’t remember Betrothed dragging like this, and Ilya is actually interesting, so it was a small disappointing for it to be a slog to read about the Mistletoe MasqueradeCassie and Sydney have loved each other for a while, but neither knows how the other feels. Cassie is Sydney’s best friend’s small sister and he think he’s not amazing enough for her. She just wants a kiss at the annual Mistletoe Masquerade ball to see if she can convince him to love her. Of course they end up with an audience and must marry (another one of those compromising situation stories). The HEA comes beautiful easily in this one. Would love to read about Renvere and his daughters and the mystery governess, too!A Scandal Before ChristmasSecond possibility here. Theo and Lauren were engaged, But she broke it off when she found out their fathers arranged it for financial reasons. Theo doesn’t care about her money, he just wants Lauren, and he has a plan to victory her back. The whole story is just (it felt long, but it was only a matter of days) his campaign to obtain married to her. Also not exactly that scandalous? Her Virgin DukeBennett became the Duke of Tunbury at 15, carefully controlled by trustees until the age of 25. So carefully controlled, that he’s still a virgin. Well, that all changes in this story, with the support of a amazing woman. I really enjoyed this one, Bennett is a charming and fun character.A Scandalous SecretNot really all that scandalous, but it is a secret that Victoria is in love with Thomas, her spymaster father’s protege. When Victoria gets attacked, Thomas comes to the rescue, and things develop from there. Apparently part of Trentham’s Spies and Lovers world, I haven’t read any of those books, but this was a decent e Christmas CourtesanPart of Vale’s Gentleman Courtesan series. Widow Miranda is tasked by her widowed mates to search out about the mysterious Gentleman Courtesans. Roger, younger brother to flaky Viscount Angus, takes it upon himself to replace their sister’s dowry when Angus loses it on a dangerous investment. Courtesan manager Benedict can’t believe his luck at having a 36-year old virgin available to set up with a client. Miranda snaps Roger up before a bidding battle breaks out among the ladies. If you’ve read any of the other stories in this series, you know how this ends. Miranda and Roger are a unbelievable pair, and I forced myself to read this anthology in order so I wouldn’t just jump ahead to the latest story and skip the others. I’m glad I did, because I enjoyed several of the other stories, but it did mean saving the best for last!Overall, I’m giving this 4/5 stars. There are some amazing stories and some less amazing stories, but it’s certainly worth reading, especially for the amazing ones.

Cornelia, our heroine, is trying so hard to be straight-laced and scandal free, while everyone around her is a comic relief. Her aunts are a hoot and wonderfully inappropriate... Have Yourself a Merry Little Secret : a Christmas collection of historical romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little... Book 1) []  2020-10-24 18:17

This book is a collection of Christmas stories by various Authors. I had the privilege and pleasure of reading an ARC from 4 of these authors, which I would like to give you my honest e Marquess is Mine by Tamara Gill - What can I say about a book written by Tamara Gill? I love them all. This book was so nice, it place a smile on my face. Sarah and Giles knew each other when they were younger, he was her brother’s friend. Sarah felt Giles was her character when he protected her from her mean older brother. After there was problem in Sarah’s family, she felt Giles dropped her and her family, and he did. He loved her, but he followed what his father wanted him to do. Now years later they are at a Holiday party at her brother’s house and Giles wants to go back to what they were, mates and hopefully more. It is cute how Giles tells her he wants her back, and he keeps at it until he gets her. I really like with a Czar by Emily Murdoch - This is the story about Maxim who is a Czar, who is spending Christmas at the Royal Court so he can talk to Prinny. It is also about Anne who is spending her latest season with her Father and sister at St. James’ Court. Maxim and Anne meet, talk and then obtain caught in a compromising position, and they arrange a marriage of convenience. Maxim and Anne both have secrets which they did not wish to share with each other, but when it comes out will love be powerful enough. This small intrigue kept me guessing what each of their secrets were. You will have fun this nice e Rogue’s Secret by Stacy Reid & Giselle Marks - I have read books by Stacy Reid but not Giselle Marks, and if this book is any indication, they write amazing together. This is about Rupert, who Great-Uncle Frederick has left him a hidden treasure, the issue is Rupert cannot figure out where it is hidden. He meets Verity and instantly is attracted to her. Verity helps him look for the treasure and while she does, he wins her over to fall in love. This is very cute and at times I caught myself smiling. Rupert is very cute and understanding when Verity confesses her secret to cretly Marvellous by Virginia Taylor - This is the first book from this author I have ever read, and it was an easy, fast read. Beldon wants a wife, so he goes to the country to his mate house and meets his sisters. He thinks he will like the older sister, but then he falls for the younger more outspoken sister, Mary. Mary has never had a season, so he gives her a season and falls more in love with her. I will be honest and say I did not feel as much chemistry as I wanted with them, and I guess I really did not like that Mary’s secret was kept from Beldon. Also, there was some things I felt could have been explained more, (I like things nice and clean at the end) maybe we required another chapter or an epilogue. But I will give this author another try.If these four authors are an example of how enjoyable this collection is, I am going to go purchase ain, I will say, I was lucky enough to obtain an ARC copy of each of these books from the authors for my honest opinion.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Scandal: a Christmas collection of Historical Romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little. Book 2) []  2020-11-25 21:16

This started out well, but some turned out to be gue for Hire. Interesting, unusual plot. I didn't search the character very likeable, but I enjoyed the e Highlander's Christmas. Most of this story takes put within 24 hours, so it's full of memories and emotions with small e Christmas Rose. Beautiful amazing although it was a small wonderful that the character had worshiped the heroine from afar for so long without ever meeting her. Feel amazing e Lady's Tutorial to Scandal. Verrry slow start. The author seemed to wish to impress the reader with her research or knowledge. I gave up in Chapter 2 when the character and heroine hadn't even met yet.Fate Gave Me a Duke. Just couldn't obtain interested in e Courtship Caper. Just too cute. Or something. Couldn't obtain into it.Duncan's Christmas. Started to turn into a lecture on English Christmas customs--not what I look for in a deviled: A Russian Pursuit. Didn't like the characters in the beginning and couldn't obtain into the Mistletoe Masquerade. Slow start. Couldn't obtain interested.A Scandal before Christmas. Slow start. Couldn't obtain interested. Her Virgin Duke. Virgin duke? Really? Couldn't obtain interested.A Scandalous Secret. Slow start. Couldn't obtain e Christmas Courtesan. A male courtesan. Yeah, all historical romance is fantasy to some extent, but this isn't plausible at all. I didn't read past the first few r those who care--lots of in detail.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Secret : a Christmas collection of historical romance (Have Yourself a Merry Little... Book 1) []  2020-10-24 18:17

What's better than stories by some of the best author's of historical romance!Wedding her Duke by Collette Cameron"Tantalizing. Fascinating. Enthralling. And so a lot of more words ending in ing."Oh yes, Baxter Bathhurst, was that and so much more. A Scot, now an English Duke. A man who had a collection of the wounded. Birds, dogs, employees and yes, he was swoonworthy. Sorry I digress...On their method back home to Bristol, due to the snow, Justina and her Aunt Emily, had to seek shelter in Bath and they ended up at a fresh establishment, the Bathhurst Hotel and Spa. It was owned by Baxter and as he and Justina met, the attraction was almost instant. Of course they both had secrets... Nobody knew he was a Duke and Emily had her own secret.Fate steps in and they meet again at the Sutcliffes' Christmastide house party. I will leave it at that although I wish to tell you the entire story, it is so wonderful, marvelous, heartwarming and ... well it is written by one of my very favorite authors, so what more can you expect? The excellent Christmastide romance.. with snow..BUT Balderdash I wish Aunt Emily's story!!A Yuletide Miracle by Laurel O'DonnellIt was the Yule Cat that jumped out of the tree and left three scratches on Thora's cheek but Bastian had saved her. A tale to scare children, yet Thor believed it. Bastian had saved her when the beast jumped out of a tree all those years ago, but he never saw a years later, Thora still maintains everyone needs to be protected from this folklore and is so upset when her father stops having the men around the castle set traps. Bastian is determined to support Thora see reason and that the Yule Cat is not real. Loved this story as it is a amazing example of how fears can rule your life, but trusting in others is sometimes the best option. So sweet! The Lady Who Stole Christmas by Sydney Jane BailyAttending Lady Macroun's Christmastide House Party, Lady Sarah Worthington and Lord Miles Denbigh meet up again, after having shared a couple of rendezvous, might I say, previously. Unfortunately, Miles was conducting some undercover work for Prinny, to support nab a member of the Ton who seemed to be stealing stuff of worth from the guest of such gatherings, and Sarah, well, that was another matter! She was returning the stolen jewelry to those it belonged. What ? Of yes this is a caper!I adored Sarah and Miles. The attraction sizzled and with a android game of cat and mouse, it was simply delightful! I also have to say that Sydney threw in so a lot of fresh words and names of android games that it was so much fun to look them up! Brilliant!More to come!

I look forward to reading all of the stories & will leave review as I finish each book. I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily HER CHRISTMAS DUKE by Collette Cameron - Baxter Bathhurst, Duke of San Sebastian, is a Scot & doesn't like the title he suddenly inherited five years ago but he does what he must do in London. Baxter is handsome, wealthy, honorable & he attempts to avoid the title seeking ladies while attending needed social engagements. Justina Farthington is a @#$%!&? daughter & was raised by her aunt when she was dropped at her doorstep when Justina was ten years old. She & her aunt were heading home when a snowstorm stranded them in Bath & finally found rooms at the duke's Bathhurst Hotel. This is where Baxter & Justina meet & they have a love at first sight romance that is sweet & fun with humor & romance - I really enjoyed both Baxter & Justina & the secret each one of them had kept from the other one that still ends in a Merry Christmas!THE ROGUE'S SECRET by Stacy Reid & Giselle Marks - I enjoyed this story very much - it had romance, intrigue, mystery, action, love & a HEA. Rupert Rogers' amazing uncle has died and left him the Ellesmere estate, the title of baron & a secret poem that has Rupert puzzled. If his uncle had not hinted treasure in the past, he might just say he was getting a small addled at the end of his life but he felt it was worth it to decipher the poem. Rupert & his neighbor, Lady Verity Hansard meet for the first time in a fun & romantic method & there is an instant attraction between them. They form a friendship and Lady Verity agrees to support Rupert solve the treasure mystery. This was a very entertaining story with a amazing couple & lovable secondary E LADY WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS by Sydney Jane Baily - We're off to Forde Hall for a country Yuletide House Party. Viscount Miles Denbigh is handsome & single, but he is at the gathering to catch a sly thief who has been plaguing the Ton's parties & making off with their jewels. Miles did a small work for both Prinny & Bow Road when they called on him for help, but he was still a viscount & was welcomed at the wealthiest homes in Britain all his life. The lovely widow, Lady Sarah Worthington was in attendance & she had enjoyed the intimate company of Miles previously, but she had a plan for this house party & couldn't be swayed by the handsome Viscount - or could she? Of course, she could & so could he - this is a fun android game of chase & accusations to search out "Whodunit" - you will love this couple!!!

When he arrives and meets Delilah Forbes, the owner, he is more than surprised to search the club is well-run by an astute business woman who caters to a select clientele. Can the uptight Duke and the feisty Mistress of Sin search love, or will they be felled by the stricture of Society? Her Virgin Duke is a red hot, y holiday delight. Delilah is bold, smart, and understanding. Bennett is an honorable, lonely man, who bursts into his own with her urging. Her formerly virgin Duke is indeed a fast learner. Allie is preparing for Christmas and filling fudge orders from Frances’ old apartment while the McMurphy is being repaired after the roof collapse in book 7 Fudge lie finds a girl, Kayla, whom she barely knows in a snowbank. Later Kayla dies and it is from poison. Then Allie’s upstairs neighbor at the apartment dies also from poison. This is a troubling mystery because the police think Frances was ere is snow and power outages and issues with Rex’s second is was a amazing mystery, well written and engaging. I am troubled with timeline though. In the book supposedly Allie has only been on Mackinac for a year, and this is her first winter e issue with the timeline is that the author has written two other winter stories for this series - “All I wish for Christmas is Fudge” and “ Deck the Halls with Fudge”. It seems like there has been at least a couple of years on Mackinac.I really like the story. However, I did deduct a star, because if you are creating a timeline with a series you need to hold all books and novellas in the same timeline and progress time anks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

This is amazing considering I buy for nieces and nephews: however, not having my own children, I was looking for a more lifestyle type of is book definitely gives that, and has amazing ideas and helpful hints. This book is exactly what you need leading up to the holiday season! I think of it as "minimalism lite." It's an perfect intro to the large undertaking that is minimalism, tackled during the busiest time of the year. The holidays are a amazing time to begin on a little scale, and this book offers excellent, practical tips, without being judgy or coming across as pretentious. It's simple to read, it's very accessible, and I can't wait to implement the suggested strategies!it's truly remarkable the amount of consumerism shoved in our faces during the holidays, and this book explains that influence—while helping us figure out how to war back versus it! This book is for anyone wanting to scale back on gift-giving in favor of experiences and family time. It's for overwhelmed parents wanting to chop down on toys and instill healthy habits with their kids. It's for those of us looking to be more intentional with our things and our time during the holiday season. Don't we all wish that?Reclaim the happiness of the holidays with Have Yourself a Minimalist Christmas!I received an advanced copy of this book via the author, and I’m reviewing it voluntarily.

Overall I enjoyed book eight in the Candy-Coated series even though I had a little largest problem was we are still in the first year of Allie being on Mackinac Island but we are on our third Christmas story and this full-length Christmas story takes put before the two novellas that have been previously published. I might not have even thought about it if I did not read the two novellas right before reading this story. It does nothing to take away from the story it was a private peeve of mine.I did like getting to know more about Frances' past and more about her in general.I admit I have not read this series in order. I have been able to follow along quite nicely.I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Kensington Books, through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

    Have Yourself a Fudgy Little Christmas (A Candy-Coated Mystery Book 8) []  2021-1-21 18:0

Brought to you by OBS Reviewer JeanieIt is so exciting to be back at the McMurphy Hotel and Fudge on Mackinac Island! It sounds like a gorgeous time of year for those who love snow, especially when celebrating Christmas. While I have read most of the series, I am impressed that I still learn fresh things about our regular characters. They are three-dimensional and engaging. The mystery is challenging and complex. It can be read as a standalone as the author skillfully contains sufficient backstory for ease for the first-time reader. Once one meets Allie, Frances, Rex, and the gang, the rest of the series will look extremely appealing! This is the first winter that Allie McMurphy, fudge maker extraordinaire, will spend on Mackinac Island. It isn’t for just anyone, as the second wife of Rex, the guy she had been dating, had left him due to the isolation of the island throughout the cold, snowy winter. Since inheriting the McMurphy Hotel and Fudge from her grandfather, Allie has renovated where needed. She hopes to attract winter guests who come for different lie is staying at the apartment owned by Frances, her manager, who recently married their handyman, Douglas. Someone left a note on the door to meet someone where the light displays are being set up for one of the pre-Christmas events. Allie took Mal, her adorable pup, and left a small early, then will support set up the display for the McMurphy. Nobody was waiting for her at the designated spot, and nobody came to see her. Mal dragged her in a various direction. She saw a body lying face down in the snow and called for help. Someone helped her turn a young woman over, another started CPR, and the EMT’s took her to the clinic where she later died after saying Frances’s name, making her the basic suspect in what became a murder investigation. Kayla, the young woman, had been lie has helped with several murder investigations on the island since moving there, but Frances does not wish Allie involved with this one. Frances doesn’t wish to place Allie at risk one more time, as has occurred before, and seems to be holding something back. Frances had been manager at the McMurphy for several years and has been a huge support to Allie since she inherited it. Douglas, her husband, would do anything to see Frances not be hurting over the situation, and he will do what he can to support Allie search out who the assassin is, as long as Frances isn’t pulled into it.During a blizzard that knocked out power to Mackinac Island, Allie heard crashes in the upstairs neighbor’s apartment. She and the other ladies living in the building went to see if Manfred was okay, and found him very ill, nearly dead, in his apartment, and it had nothing to do with the power outage or the window that had been smashed in from the storm winds. He, too, died after being taken to the clinic. Frances had been his downstairs neighbor for years until her latest marriage, and he played in a snooker competition at the bar and grill where Kayla had e characters are very well defined; I have fun learning something fresh each time about the regulars! Descriptions of the fresh or short-term folks were also well done. It created me yearn for a Mackinac Island Christmas, where there are never too a lot of Christmas trees. Meeting a potential fresh mate who reminds Allie of the joy of sledding was fun. Learning Frances’s secret created her a more of a woman of grace to me. I could have happily gone through the next eight novels without getting to know Melonie better, ere are plot twists that shine a spotlight a red herring or two as well as serve to allow Frances look even more like the poor guy. Versus the elegant Christmas-card like setting, we have fun the days leading up to Christmas even while there is a murderer loose on the island. Descriptions of the setting are so excellent that I could imagine being there. I was surprised by who the true poor guy. I thought I had the right one, but … this author has proved me wrong again! All loose ends are tied up, and while one problem is not quite resolved yet in Allie’s life, I highly recommend Allie’s recent adventure! The author has included recipes for holiday fudge and other sweet treats for your enjoyment.
