This book is a MUST READ/ MUST LISTEN book! There are accompanying audio components your intelligent phone can scan. Being a Mid Westerner who moved South by choice...I could not have enjoyed a book on our North Carolina accents more than this one! Method to go Walt Wolfram!
Informative, fascinating, and user-friendly for the general reader, this book now occupies a permanent zone on my reference shelf. If I have one complaint, it is the lack of IPA, which would support the accent and dialect coaches to better understand the specific speech sounds being described.
This is my husband's book and he says that he thinks it will be very amazing - he hasn't read it yet. Your reviews are requested too soon after receipt of the book; give people a possibility to actually read the book!
Never knew we had such distinct language in our state. My daughter on a trip to the Grand Canyon had someone there tell her from her speech he could tell she was from one of the Carolinas. Recommend highly to native Tar Hells who wish to learn more about our speech and all the ones who have moved here who wish to understand what we are saying.
I thought this mat was super cute and and would be amazing for a image op of my very first house! It was, however it didn’t latest long. Once this thing gets wet, it NEVER dries. It’s perpetually wet and ugly looking, even when it hasn’t rained for a week or more. Unfortunately I would not recommend it.
We surprised my daughter with this easy but essential part of a welcoming home. She just bought a lovely condo in Orlando and we sent her this bonus (among others) but this one came as a surplus surprise to her. It reminds her that the working day is over and her hard earned home sweet home will shelter her for the night.
I was looking at cute entryway ideas when i saw a picture of someone who had layered their doormats. I found this one here on Amazon for super and decided to give it a try. It is gorgeous! I am very happy with my purchase. I hope it holds up. This is something I highly recommend purchasing if you are going for that look and still on the fence to test it. It created my front entrance pop and looks so great!
This book includes indepth and interesting historical vignettes of locations I either go or pass through all the time. The depth and quality of the info is impressive. The vignettes are very engaging also. It makes traveling around the state more fun.
I’m slightly disappointed in this purchase. I ordered the biggest size mat, and the “home sweet home” emblem is little compared to the width of the mat, leaving huge blank locations around the border of the emblem. I was hoping the words would reach out a bit closer to the edges of the mat. I bought the same mat previously at Home Depot (same size) and the letters weren’t printed nearly as small. I’ll hold the mat until it’s worn and obtain it from HD instead in the future.
Because of the presentation of this item, I was under the impression that this was going to be a straw-like material and probably an inch thick- ITS NOT. It is completely plastic and flat and totally pixelated. I'm truly SHOCKED this has any reviews higher than 1 star. I would give it 0 if I could.
I love this mat! I almost did not this mat because some of the reviews said that when it got wet it doesn’t dry well. After a poor rain storm I draped in over my porch railing and placed it in the sun and it dried and was back to looking amazing within a day. The material isn’t as rough as some mats like this can be. Looks amazing on my porch!
Love this mat! I think it was a small expensive for the quality. I have had it in my front covered patio that doesn’t see too much rain or sunlight. The “sweet” part of the mat is already fading and it’s been about a month or so. It doesn’t obtain much traffic either so I was a small disappointed. Also sheds ALOT! Again, not much traffic but any small bit makes this rug shed a amazing on to the mat underneath. It’s still very beautiful and does the job.
A fast read, but I love it. I appreciate how honest Kristin Cavallari is and she emphasizes that situations are various for everyone, but explains where she's coming from with her decisions and how they've helped her in her life. I also appreciate the begin of her book, which talks about her life on Laguna Beach & The Hills. She doesn't create excuses for her life, but explains how things were easily skewed to the public for the sake of present ratings. I appreciate Cavallari's honest approach to growing up and found it inspirational in the sense that it's okay to grow up at your own rate and that everyone eventually gets there.
This is an awesome read- engaging, educational coming from credible sources, entertaining, funny, and just plain enjoyable! I look forward to reading it each night. Kristin is an authentic author and you can hear her voice through each chapter. I definitely recommend if you’re into: healthy eating, fashion, exercise, cooking, and of course Kristin Cavallari!
I really enjoyed the first couple chapters. They gave amazing tip on how to balance life and love and helped you understand how to hold a relationship healthy. However, by chapter 3 the book was more about how excellent Kristin is. She often contradicts herself saying she was unhealthy as a teenager but that she’d do something now if it wasn’t for the fact that she will “loose too much weight” or “because of her diary intolerance”. Her book makes you feel like she’s just trying to tell you in every method she can that she is attractive successful and fit. All things we already know by looking at her. Maybe a small more advise and a small less about herself in the next book.
So good! Particularly, I found learning about meal and how hidden ingredients result your body / skin / hair really interesting. Amazing beauty hints that are realistic and recipes I can't wait to try. Overall, a nice dozens of content. Well written. An educational yet easy, entertaining read. Highly recommended!!
I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this book but I just can't. While it is no doubt written by Kristen, she isn't really telling her story - she is kind of just giving a rough outline of her day to days, her marriage, her children and how she is balancing it. There isn't a lot of meat to the book but there are a lot of pictures. I love her dearly and loved her on Laguna (real or not) but this book was disappointing. Its just meh and really didn't give me any info that I didn't already know or wouldn't have already assumed from a wife / mother. I finished the book (in 1 day) saying "no duh" to myself.
I have had this CD for over a decade and still return to it for spiritual uplift. The musicianship is exquisite, the melodies and rhythms have immediacy and emotional impact, and the sound quality is excellent. I recommend this CD as a begin to getting into Persian music.
Not the best diet book I've ever bought. Seems like two formerly fat guys who never gave a thought to weight control finally got with it. They discovered pizza probably isn't the best thing for you and found that things like the body mass index formula exist and that you perhaps shouldn't eat out five nights a week. Even you already know 90% of what's in here. Look elsewhere.
Paul Volcker knocks the ball out of the park through his autobiography, published at the advanced age of 90. There’s something endearing about Volcker’s style: he comes off as a chip off the old block, approachable, a wise and easy scal standards became unbridled proceeding August 1971 when the latest vestige of the US Dollar Gold Convertibility Standard was dismantled by fiat. The supply grew like never before and it eventually set off a wave of inflation in major markets including the of gasoline and cost of borrowing. Geopolitical happenings unraveling in the Middle East weren’t helping, and the US Dollar itself risked being speculated into ul Volcker may be considered “The Fed’s Latest Hawk”. As chief of the Fed, he administered the medicine important to extinguish the United States’ epoch of inflation, or as he termed it, the Amazing Inflation. As the newly appointed Chairman of the Fed in 1979 with the inflation rate over 13 percent, Volcker wasted no time, immediately raising interest rates. His mission: “lead a battle versus inflation.”“I suppose if some Delphic oracle had whispered in my ear that our policy would effect in interest rates of 20 percent or more, I might have packed my bags and headed home.”Indeed, at its peak: “the rate on three-month Treasury bills eventually exceeded 17 percent, the commercial bank prime lending rate peaked at 21.5 percent, and, most sensitively, mortgage rates surpassed 18 percent. Those rates had never been seen before in our financial history.” The unemployment rate proceeded to creep over ten percent, and a wave of bankruptcies pounded the Savings & Loans lending industry, crippling the economy into recession as the wicked chimera of stagflation agflation is the economic phenomenon where inflation and economic recession intersect. As a central banker, it is the most difficult balancing act, a central banking conundrum: do you raise the interest rate to combat inflation, or do you lower it to combat the recession? If you raise it to calm prices, you also cause the cost of borrowing to go up. If you lower it to stimulate financial facilities, supply growth continues and the level never ceases to increase.History proved Volcker right. Leading the Fed, his aggressive approach versus inflation got under control, despite the severe shop disruptions it caused. This then set the scene to combat the recession, and by the end of his term in 1987 both inflation and unemployment were normalized.“Now the environment is quite different. The generation with direct experience of stagflation is passing on.”
You've mastered your studies, but to begin a successful business or to manage an existing one you need to understand business operations - what business book can you turn to? This one! There are a lot of amazing books on business, a lot of amazing books on the plethora of holistic modalities out there. The authors of this book understand both sides of the practitioners needs and place it together well, with amazing examples to work with. While the examples typically focus on massage/touch therapy, just about everything can be translated to other practices, such as Reiki, Acupuncture etc. - the primary concepts remain the same. While there are a few chapters that run a bit long, I feel this book is worthwhile in any practitioner's collection. I have a copy of this book in my home office and plan to a second reference copy for my clinic. An invaluable reference guide!
We used a lot of books for my massage classes, but this was definitely my favorite. It has so a lot of amazing hints and examples for every aspect of a business you need to know. I'll definitely be reading it again.
Even though my parents aren't divorced, I was interested in the contents and decided to give it a read. I found it to be so much various than anything I've ever read before. The book is really frank in tone and was really relatable, and I hold thinking to myself, "what would I do?" if I were in the particular scenarios the book talks about. It's basically all about how to communicate with people, letting them know your needs, and how to search workable situations for yourself. I thought this tip was beautiful universal, and think it's worth reading whether your parents are divorced or still together or some other arrangement.
This is the first diet book that makes absolute sense to me. It is a easy method, that locations responsibility and therefore the control with you.I have lost 4 lbs since it arrived, and feel amazing about my ability to continue to lose lieve me I have tried everything out there, reading this book switched the light on for me! I wonder why nobody has thought about this before, there is no escaping the logic and truths in this book. We can't eat the method we've been eating and be a normal weight. Thank you for this wake up call! I will come back in 6 months and report.
This was a disappointing read. The authors basically tell you that you are overweight because you are gluttonous, in to lose weight you need to obtain used to being hungry(!), kid sized portions when eating out, etc. They are also enamored of Gary Taubes. I was hoping for some fresh insight on weight maintenance based on their point of view as economists. A run-of-the-mill healthy eating, calorie cutting diet book would have been more helpful and probably more te that I did not this book. I borrowed it from the public library.
I highly recommend this book for anyone starting out in running and/or managing a Holistic Health and/or massage practice. This will literally become your Bible that you refer to for almost everything you will need to know. Written in a workbook format in easy language. I whole heartily recommend this book. (Worth paying full for, in case you were wondering!)
This is an perfect book about an American few of us have heard of, but whose impact has been monumental on American society. We learn in this book who inspired Volcker and how he became the person he became. There are numerous inside stories of a remarkable career that spanned a lot of administrations. It was interesting to hear how monetary policy worked in the days well before I was ing a lifelong student of economics, I really enjoyed the insight to some of the issues Volcker faced too, so if you also like econ, this will be amazing for you, though it does not really go too deep, and shouldn't be a issue for people who aren't much ally touching stories behind the numbers, and funny insights to a lot of things you never knew about. I'll allow you explore them on your own. Highly recommended.Enjoy.
