Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

After about 3 months of using this product, it started unevenly cutting the lids off cans and creating little shards of metal that have ended up in my meal and cutting my fingers. This is the complete opposite of safety can opener, and it should be recalled. My family has been place at risk of eating little shards of metal.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

Works better then any opener I've ever owned for about 5 months. Just stopped cutting the can and makes metal shavings all over the lid. Would never purchase this brand again. So disappointed! Why is it so hard to create a quality product anymore.

Waste of money. Makes shreds of metal when using so risky I can't believe I wasted my cash on this can opener. Won't use it for safety reasons

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

I take my original Kuhn stainless steel can opener with me whenever I travel. Yes, I don't like can lids in my food. My husband and I were not in the same zone and he said there was no can opener in the house and I reluctantly bought this one since it seems my original, fabulous over 10 year old stainless steel one is no longer sold anywhere. However, this works just like mine and he was satisfied with it. These can openers are a favorite family bonus because it's not electric and there is no danger of getting chop by a jagged can. We reuse our cans as grease catchers or pencil holders, etc. I gave it 4 stars because it is not 100% stainless steel and I have dropped my original one over the years without damage. I'm not sure yet this one would fare so well on tile kitchen floors. When I drop it, I will modernize this review.

Update: so this opener is no longer working very well. Fails to break the seal and is leaving long hair-like slivers of metal around the edges. Maybe it needs to be shapened but it has only opened about thirty cans and I have no idea how to do that.Original review: I have bought a few of this type opener, and this is the first that was super simple to use and consistently works. No more sharp edges or metal slivers falling into the can, yay. Everyone in the house uses it and loves it. Had it about a month now, no issues.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

Purchased this to replace our decade-old can opener. Looked a bit different, but it's a can opener, seriously, how various can it be. Like the old one, it opens cans without leaving jagged edges. However, the mechanism for removing the opener once you've finished opening the cans is--oddly--the most annoying feature. Sitting here, I have to think about how it works. Why? It's a can opener, and they're the kind of thing you use without thinking about it at all. I think my cat might not recognize that this opens cans yet. He used to come running the moment I started to crank, now it's like I've caught him by surprise. Still and all, it'll be our can opener until it breaks...or until I toss it out the window because why the heck is the process of stopping this thing not more intuitive?! Why do I have to think about what the heck I'm doing?! I'm just opening some pineapple.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

This style of cutting is really much better than the standard / traditional sort. The chop lid has NO sharp edges, nor does the can. I first bought one of these by mistake nearly twenty years ago ( I guess ), and I've never gone back. Why would I? This is only the second one I've purchased in that 20 years. I'd still have the first one but I broke it. I won't tell you how I did that. It's embarrassingly stupid.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Smooth Touch Can Opener, No Sharp Edges, Lid Lifter review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

I own two fresh can openers and have discovered they're both Chinese, not German and Swiss as I expected, however there is nothing cheap about either one. The cutting parts under-neat is completely identical and seems to have been created in the same factory and they both chop great. However the other one is a much better product. It is simple to use where as this one has two problems which create it a bit confusing and a bit painful to use.#1. The smaller problem, the confusing one: The other can opener is in begin mode when the handles are open. You put it on the can and close the handles and it grips. Beautiful straightforward and that is the method almost all can openers are. This one is in begin mode and you put it on the can and have to begin turning the handle for it to begin gripping. You don't know if it is positioned well until you've started the cutting and sometimes it takes more than one try. And has a lose feel to it until it grips. I'm not sure why they complicated it.#2. The bigger problem, the painful one: This one seemed to have been designed in such method that the fingers pushing it go into the curved locations of the handle. Looks amazing but I discovered once using it one can't hold finger in put and instead ends up pushing versus the inner hints tp turn it. It just doesn't feel amazing either method and a bit painful to use (and I assume the older you are, the more it is). I'm not sure why they took a classic and did this reverse design as it just makes it , a amazing can opener and much better than the non-safety ones, just with some odd design problems to create it hard to use. The only plus side I see compared to the other can opener is the lower price this one carries.

My old school can opener, the one where you begin and lift up the top leaving a sharp edge. finally rusted. I was shopping looking around and debating where I should stick with the traditional opener, electric, or this type. After reading a lot of various reviews, I decided to give this one a test and was glad I did. I was almost discourage by some of the negative reviews. Since none of the can opener keep higher than 4 stars in which this is the one with the highest reviews. Anyways, not sure why people gave negative review on this? Are they not able to figure out how to use this thing? It's quite simple, clean cut, and no sharp edges.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

I wanted a fancy can opener for a long time--one that wouldn't rust and that would leave a safe edge. I was very happy with this one's performance for the first few months. The locking mechanism on the can opener (instead of the traditional squeeze shut to connect the blades to the can) is enabled by turning the knob which is also used to begin the can: it first locks on to the can and then unscrews the can. It unlocks by turning the knob in the reverse direction. After a few months of use, the lock mechanism will no longer engage when turned, and the product is now nonfunctional.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

UPDATE 2019-08-21:Regarding the problem mentioned below with it not being able to begin some cans, I now believe it depends on the technique used in attaching the opener to the can. The opener needs to be horizontally level with the lid during the first turn of the knob so that it can properly "grab" the can. This can be accomplished by looking at the can and opener from the side and making sure that the metal "nipple", for lack of a better term, touches the lid and that the opener appears horizontal with the lid during the first turn of the knob. Unfortunately, it's too simple to not do this correctly. The slightest tilt up or down of the opener during that first knob turn, and it won't grab the can properly. It may still appear to have grabbed, but will turn more loosely and not begin the can. The manufacturer should improve the design to create attaching the opener to the can properly easier.UPDATE 2019-05-09:The other day, it wouldn't begin a can. It appeared to be trying to chop too high on the lip of the can. Tried a few times. Wouldn't begin it. Tried a second can, same size, same product, and it opened it just fine. I visually compared the 2 cans and they looked identical, except the can that wouldn't begin had a white colourful lid with graphics, while the can that opened had a silver colourful lid with no graphics. Both cans were bumble bee tuna. Very strange. Now I know why some reviews here stated that after a while it wouldn't begin cans. It appears that some cans are created a bit differently that this opener can't begin them. Taking 1 star off for this.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW:I bought this opener after trying the Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch electric can opener (76606ZA). That electric opener worked great, except it left metal slivers along the rim of the can after opening, even when following the mfr instructions to not go beyond one complete rotation. Maybe I just got a defective unit, but other Amazon reviewers mentioned the same problem, so I spent a bit of time researching an alternative "safety" can opener, and ultimately chose this one because of its multi-tool design and versatility.I've only opened one can with it so far, but so far, so good. NO METAL SLIVERS! It's simple to use if you follow the easy instructions. No instructions required after the first use. It's fairly simple to rotate the knob. There is very small resistance. I followed the instructions and did not go beyond one single rotation (to prevent the chance of metal slivers), and sure enough, no metal slivers!! Not one! And no sharp edge to the lid. Very satisfied about that! My second favorite feature is the jar loosener that releases the vacuum seal on jar lids to create them simple to open. No more banging the jar versus the counter or trying to pry it begin with a knife. The other features are less useful for us personally, but I'm sure others will appreciate far, love this product. Hopefully, it lasts (2 year warranty). I will test to modernize this review if anything changes.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

When it came, I had no cans that required opening that afternoon, but wanted to test it right away. I save the few metal coffee cans I obtain for DIY projects, and have some with a pull up tab, so there is about a half inch flange around the rim. I tried that as my first try, without even reading the directions, had success with opening, and now have a can without that edge that impedes pouring, whether it be paint or bird seed. I had a model when the side openers just came out, and I could obtain that to work about one of three times. This one is I am a leftie, and although you have to turn in a clockwise manner, it is simple to adapt.. as we lefties constantly adapt. Can openers and scissors are probably the worst, but they have leftie scissors... but I have yet to see a leftie can opener, but I approve this one.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

We own an OXO Amazing Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener, and since it is several years old and starting to wear out, I ordered the Kuhn Rikon as an eventual replacement, and to try it out of curiosity. The Kuhn Rikon is much sharper, and does a very neat job cutting the lid. That said, I must admit that the OXO is much easier and more comfortable to operate with its huge rubber grip that is offset and rotated 90 degrees. I don't think you'll go wrong buying this can opener or the OXO. At this point, though, I'd probably say the OXO wins by a nose. But we'll see how well the Kuhn Rikon wears over time.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

I bought this to replace the recent manual opener that decided to break at the most inconvenient time, as usual. I expected a simple, cheaply created item that would latest a few months until it goes and joins that amazing utensil graveyard known as the bin, but I was very surprised. It is much heavier and sturdier than I expected and performs its can opening tasks with a definite purpose. It grips the can and holds it firmly, and when it's parted the seal to begin it, it even has a grip built into the handle that grabs the lid at the press of a button. This, along with the other combined tools - bottle opener, jar opener, bottle-cap unscrewer, to name just 3 - Has created it one of the most useful utensils in my kitchen.UPDATE:After a few weeks of use, the opener is as sturdy, powerful and useful as when it first arrived in my kitchen. This has to be one of the best tools in my kitchen plus during the poor snow during Feb 2019 here in the PNW, a neighbor used it as the power was off so she couldn't use her electric opener.

I have wanted this the first time I saw it!I waited a few years and had to throw my supposed "Good Quality" manual can opener away came apart! I use my electric er but don't love the lid being so sharp and causes cuts if thrown in the garbage outside the can. You see I smash down the trash and the lid can cut! So I really loved the idea of a lid on a can not be is can opener is manual by the way.I am so glad I purchased it! Its created very well! You can take off a can lid, use one of the ends to pull up the tab on a can or soda/beat can and hold your nails ere's an bottle opener as well.I've been using mine for several months and am very happy with the quality and functionality!I dont have anything I didn't like.I gave it 5 stars! I recommend this product.

We have had one of these can openers for years, but this fresh one leaves long ribbons of sharp metal around the rim of the can. Having been pricked by several and having found one IN our meal I am throwing this fresh one away. Too late to return.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

My favorite can opener ever! Cannot say enough about how simple this is to use. It never gets dirty with this type of design. My old can openers were disgusting after opening a few cans and difficult on your hands. If you have arthritis or joint problems and you need an simple to work can opener ...this is it. It is worth every penny. You can begin ring top soup cans, dog meal cans, any type of can, as well as bottles and never have to stress whether it is on the can right. Just place it on the can and begin turning. You can grab the lid off with the small tweezers using the white lever and put in garbage. No sharp edges that can chop or hurt you. Amazing for children to use too. The only thing it does not begin as well is tuna fish cans, only that I like to use the opened top to release and squeeze out the water in the tuna fish. This one you cannot do that with. You have to strain the water a various way. Other than that it is amazing! I buy them as bonuses for mates and family.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

I never thought I'd be writing a review of a can opener, but here I go.I'd gone through a fair number of the more traditional can openers (the ones with exposed gears and the turning blade) and didn't wish to waste cash on another one. In addition, my wife's wrists bother and the traditional style can openers are torturous for her. I was considering an electric can opener, but couldn't search any in my price range that I trusted, not to mention that my kitchen counters are a bit crowded already. Then I came across this small $20, it's probably more than you wish to spend on a can opener, but I've been using it for six months now, and I don't wish to ever be without it again. It does take a small getting used to, but I think that's mainly because you expect it to be more complicated that it is. You put it on the can and twist the handle until it create one full rotation on the can (you can feel when it's gone all the method around). At this point, the can looks no various and you're standing in your kitchen thinking you've just wasted $20 (at least, I did the first time). At this point, you turn the Rikon to the side and grab the top edge of the can with the small metal jaws and pull up. Like magic, the top of the can comes off easily and cleanly, leaving no sharp edges. The first time I used it, I knew I was never going back.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:20

And yet here I am.I have gone through several can openers for the past 5 years. They have rusted with broken plastic handles. Some had teeth that decided to not be useful anymore after 3 months, so instead of spinning around the can, on has to constantly begin and close the jaws, like using it as a bolt cutter. It's quite funny since my husband and I go through maybe 4 cans a month. That's it. It's not like our everyday subsistence consists of canned foods.30 years ago, when you a buy a can opener, one expects a solidly built iron can opener than one can throw on a driveway, run over with a truck, obtain a sumo wrestler to stomp on, maybe have a herd of elephants stampeding on it, and it would still come out working like a champ, possibly handing it down to your favorite 's been several months since I have had this can opener, and so far, it has not shown signs of rust. I take this as a sign of progress in my quest for a long lasting can opener. It is still opening cans. The bar has been set so low by my previous can openers. Honestly, I am just tired of buying can openers at this point. I would gladly shell out 200 dollars if it would mean it would latest at least 50 years.I am not a prepper and do not possess any outdoor survival skills. If a zombie outbreak did occur and I must survive on my pantry of canned goods, I would not be able to begin them with my knives. I am confident that this can opener would be able to do the job long enough until I run out of cans. That's quite generous, considering my previous can openers would take one look at the task ahead of them, nope out of the situation, leaving me to slowly starve to death while being surrounded with perfectly edible meal inside sealed cans.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Smooth Touch Can Opener, 8.75-Inch, Black review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop, 3 Cup Food Chopper with Lid, Dark Blue review [Book]  2019-12-3 18:3

I saw a late-night TV ad for a related pull cut gizmo and decided to see what Amazon customers had to say about en I saw this Kuhn Rikon model, read the rave reviews, and figured a Swiss company might have the "edge" when it came to sharp-bladed joke! Compared to the Progressive slap chopper I had before, the blades of this pull chopper are razor-sharp. So sharp, in fact, that the company contains a plastic sleeve to cover the blades when not in use. And as another reviewer pointed out, the blades here only come in contact with the food, not the surface of a cutting board, so the blades should hold their sharp edge longer than those used by slap choppers. And while I used to have to slap and slap the plunger on the Progressive chopper to cut the meal fine enough, three pulls or less on this whiz-bang device does the job fact, I almost think this chopper works TOO well. I used it latest night to cut onions, peppers, and celery for a spaghetti sauce, and it reduced the veggies to such fine pieces so quickly, I'm glad I didn't follow the instructions, which said five or more pulls on the string would be e device is also very simple to use -- just chop the pieces of meal to fit inside the chopper, give a few pulls, and you're 's easy to clean as well. There really are only two parts to clean, the clear plastic cutting container and the blade assembly. The manufacturer tells you not to immerse the top assembly, so I just wiped the inside bottom of that piece with a damp sponge and dried it with a dish towel. What can I say? The Swiss Pull Cut makes fast work of meal prep, and it's compact and simple to use. A champion in every way...PROS:* Works much faster than comparable slap choppers.* Simple to clean.* Components, including blades, appear to be high-quality.* Compact, simple to store.* Reasonably NS:* None that I can think of at the moment.

Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop, 3 Cup Food Chopper with Lid, Dark Blue review [Book]  2019-12-3 18:3

This is a quick and effective chopper/mincer that really works great. You can create a tuna, chicken or egg salad in a flash right in the small container if you want, just be careful when removing and handling the sharp blade. I wasn't making those salads as often as I like because I am not a fan of a huge dice for a sandwich salad and don't have the patience or skill to dice the celery or protein up to a little size. I have different chopping devices, but none worked very well for the protein and although I could use them to dice the celery, it took a bit longer than I wanted. I decided to test this device when I saw it on QVC and immediately loved it so much I bought one for my daughter too. It does a really amazing job and allows you to create not only finely minced salad right in the container (just remove the top and blade, add mayo and stir), but also chops nuts quickly and easily, makes fast salsa or a fine garlic mince to add to a dish you are cooking. It's very 's also simple to clean. You can't place the top in the dishwasher, but it's simple to rinse off or wipe off manually. I search it simple enough to clean all the parts manually I never place them in the dishwasher. One thing though is that the blade is little and can fall down the disposal. :( Oh dear. I had to buy a fresh unit because the blade got all bent up. I got it out of the disposal but it was too barked up to use anymore. The amazing thing is that I now have an additional bowl if I wish to shop something in the fridge. I looked on QVC when I required the replacement, but didn't need the additional bowl they offered and it was considerably cheaper here. Very pleased. It is well designed with a rubber ring on the bottom to give stability on the counter. You just put one hand on the top to keep the unit it steady and pull on the handle to spin the blade. Awesome how well it works. Highly recommended.

I purchased this March of 2012 and have used it almost everyday since then and its STILL going strong. That's over 5 years of chopping and mincing and its the most used utensil in my kitchen. I will order another one because i'm in fear that it will stop selling or they will remodel this one. I have tried other choppers and they just don't do this one justice. Amazing product!!!

I had my doubts about this small gizmo - but, trusted the Amazon reviews. I required a small-sized chopper that would support (mostly) with onions. Took me a while to place to use - and I'M SORRY I DELAYED! This thing is a mini-wonder! I've thrown out powered choppers (among them, an old Cuisinart of from my mother's home) that didn't do the job that this small chopper accomplished with a few pulls of its cord. It's little - but, BOY - did it do a job chopping my veggie of choice today (an onion) to a fine mince! Time will tell if the chopping blades keep their razor edge. In the meanwhile, for $25, I have a small workhorse that will support me cut a few cups of veggies like no tomorrow!

My sister swears by this pull chopper and on a latest visit she presented me with one. I use it constantly. I like to create Muesli with chopped apples. Now I simply section and core the apple and chop the pieces into the chopper. Four swift pulls and the apple is in little pieces ready to add to yogurt and oatmeal. I haven't tried it with onions, nuts, or carrots yet but plan to give them a whirl soon. What a amazing invention! Trust the Swiss.

Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop, 3 Cup Food Chopper with Lid, Dark Blue review [Book]  2019-12-3 18:3

I am super satisfied and SPOILED to have found this device! I bought it in 2017. Today is March 25, 2019.I'm not saying you should throw out ALL of your knives... just most of them (or sell them or give them away).I'm not saying you should throw out your hand held shredders/graters. They have a their put in the kitchen also. And I am not saying you should stop using your larger meal processors, either. They have their times and places... ALL of them are amazing accessories for the ever, this small gadget is an added convenience and it's quick! There are smaller hand-powered choppers out there on the shop but those smaller ones create it feel like I am cutting the lawn with a weed-eater instead of a lawnmower... useful, just not as efficient. I have become SOOO spoiled, in fact, using a smaller one (like I did latest week) created the job feel INCONVENIENT. I had to remind myself that I COULD be doing all this chopping with only a knife! That's how I see this dicing gadget from KUHN RIKON. The Size is amazing (although I would love to have a larger one). The smaller ones I have tried (from various companies) simply feel like your not getting enough done...EASE OF USEOn occasion, I have had some difficulty with some harder stuff (i.e. carrots, onions and brussels sprouts). My wife even more so. I learned that the trick is to not fill the chopper TOO full of those items. For me, that means a small less than half method full. For my wife, that means just enough to cover the bottom of the chopper. At any rate, in just a few pulls, you will have nicely chopped and diced the contents. The more you pull, the finer the dicing and chopping. The more you fill the chopper, the more pulls you will likely need to give the chopper to achieve your desired e extra white plastic attachment is also a amazing plus. It helps throw the meal from the bottom of the chopper back up into the blade zone for easier chopping. Latest month, we ended up losing this white piece of the chopper but the device seems to be doing its job just for softer stuff (walnuts, peppers, beets, tomatoes, celery, garlic, apples, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc...)... no problem. I have even used it to chop up parsley and cilantro to WNSIDES1. I recommend you clean the device immediately after using. A easy rinse does the job most of the time. A gentle scrub with non-toxic soap is needed, on occasion. The lid (with the pulling mechanism that drives the blades) should not be submerged in water. A fast and light rinse with water or a fast wipe with a wash cloth or paper towel has been just fine for us.2. Noisy. The pull mechanism is a bit noisy. It truly does mimick the sound that is created by a lawn mower or chainsaw, only not AS loud.3. The pull handle is somewhat small. It is round and not grabbed onto easily. In fact, only the hints of two of my fingers will fit behind the handle/knob in order to pull it away from the housing and only then can I obtain my entire hand around it.I have learned to deal with these issues. Even so, there is room for improvement. I still give a 5 star rating

I started out loving this item. I recommended it to several friends. However, it has not stood the try of time. It is less than a year old and started making a very loud grinding noise when I pulled on the handle. It would not cut properly at all. Then the pull handle got permanently stuck - will not budge. I'm so disappointed. I'll buy another chopper - just not this one.

You will never chop, dice or mince again if you own this! I have used this a lot especially over the holidays. I used it to cut nuts, cranberries, etc. I also use it for onions, celery, carrots and even cut ham, chicken and eggs to create different salads. It has saved so much time and best of all, the clean-up is a breeze.

I bought this with high hopes based on all the reviews on Amazon and the internet. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me. It was supposed to support save time as my husband and I are going to a more plant-based diet and thus, more veggies need to be chopped and prepped. I was hoping for something that diced and this with a few pulls, diced some, minced some, and left giant chunks. Not very uniform. Plus it didn't save me any time. Pulling it out, chopping the veggies into little enough pieces to fit inside and not cause the blade to obtain stuck and not pull (happened several times to me), and then emptying and cleaning took more time than me just grabbing a sharp knife and quickly dicing. Oh well. If you are looking for more minced or are unconcerned with uniform pieces, I am sure this would work just fine for you.

Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Pot with Glass Lid and Steam basket 12 cup review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:21

I am so disappointed in this Burner Pot! I have had one for years that I used every day for iced tea and loved it. I wanted to buy another one, so I looked up my previous order to search it again and ordered another one. They have changed some things since my latest purchase making me extremely unhappy. The absolute worst thing is the fresh locking lid. It is extremely hard to line up the lid in order to obtain it on. It also does not let for all of the holes to be closed now, because the lock stops it from doing so. This can lead to spills when taking it in and out of the fridge and allows for smells from the fridge to create their method into my tea. There are fewer holes which makes it not pour nearly as well. The top handle is shorter now and not as form fitting to your hand. The silicone material used on the handles is harder, almost with a plastic feel. This is not what I originally ordered! So sad that I wasted my cash on this.

Dangerous! Lid handle is not screwed on, but rather lightly attached...welded? Came off when using to steam asparagus.Had bought it several years ago, but hadn't used it much, so not a case of overwear. In fact, I've never had a handle come off any of my other , it's a throw out.

Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Pot with Glass Lid and Steam basket 12 cup review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:21

This pot is awesome! We bought ours before a 2-month van trip to supplement our cast iron pans. We required a pot for cooking over a propane stove that is huge enough (tall, not wide) to boil hot water for two drinks plus oatmeal or dehydrated food, to cook pasta, lentils, soup, sauce...anything goes! The handles are heat-proof, material incredibly durable (it banged around the van a LOT and still looks fresh 4 months later), and we didn't need a colander since the lid has built-in drain holes (two sizes). Lastly, since the lid locks in put we were able to lock the pot and hang it from a shelf in the van, by its handle, and it never fell once. te: We haven't tried the internal steamer so I cannot review that piece.

I bought this as a water bath to heat milk in a half gallon mason jar for yogurt. So far it is a winner.I note several folk have asked about size specifically for use with a mason jar.A half gallon jar *WILL* fit into the basket, but you'll need to remove the basket's bail to do it. It bends easily. Took me less than 3 minute with butter knife to pry. And it can be reattached in a few cannot put the pot lid on with a half gallon jar in the basket, so you cannot use this as a water bath canner for half gallon jars. Others have spoken about it being amazing for smaller jars. I haven't tried, but it does look like it would work fine.

The little burner profile with a huge capacity, locking lid with built in strainers, & steamer basket create this an extremely convenient and versatile cooking implement. I've used it to create pasta, ramen, soups, different steamed vegetables, boiled eggs, and more. The diameter allows me to conserve a huge burner and the built in strainer saves me a dirty colander. The locking lid makes it safe & simple to use.I can't really speak to the durability as I've only it 10 or 12 times, but so far it seems beautiful sturdy. Water heats to a boil beautiful quickly; the bottom seems beautiful conductive. Overall, it's a very well thought out pot.

This review is for lye-based soap makers should any of you happen onto this product. I create lye-based, home-made soap. I do not sell it but create it for myself and for gifts, so I do not create large batches.A finished batch will run around 50 oz. by weight. One of my tray molds has an interior measurement of 13 inches by 9 inches and should be filled with about 3/4 inch depth of mixture (scored for 24 small bars). The other one has an interior measurement of 10 3/4 inches by 10 inches and should be filled with about 1 inch depth of mixture (scored for 12 huge bars). I create enough for one of the tray molds at a time, not both, if that was not clear. Sometimes I use one mold and sometimes I use the fore you pour the soap mixture into the molds, you beat it using a stick blender. I was looking for a better container in which to beat the mixture. The container needs to be fairly deep since the contents can splatter somewhat, when using the stick blender, and the mixture is caustic at that stage. Tall and fairly narrow is ideal for mixing the soap. The stick blender can really mix in a narrower container. You don't search very a lot of stainless steel containers shaped and sized like this one, and I looked hard to search this.A little stock pot will work, but the handles are hard to keep onto when pouring the finished soap mixture into the tray molds. You are holding on with all your might to the stock pot handle and trying to scrape out the latest of the mix into the mold, and holding it gets beautiful massive for one hand, by the time you are done. Obviously you don't wish to drop the pot into the mold and splatter caustic soap mixture all over the counter and possibly is pot will be just perfect, I think. It is 8 inches tall and just under 6 inches in diameter. If that doesn't sound very big, allow me tell you, it holds a lot! I have poured water into this pot and weighed it and then poured that same water into each of the two various tray molds that I described above. I can obtain all I need for a batch by weight into the pot and then pour it into each tray, and there is plenty to fill each e handle on this pot is much easier to keep onto than a stock pot handle is. It even has a non-slip, somewhat cushioned, handle gripper. Pouring the contents into the molds and scraping out the latest of it into the molds while holding with one hand should be a lot easier and safer. Also, this pot is stainless steel which is a must since aluminum creates a very poor reaction with the soap mixture. Stainless is beautiful important for making lye I know that this is an odd review because I am using the pot for a specialized purpose. But if a home-made lye soap maker reads this, I sure do recommend this pot for capacity for little batches and also for the easy-to-hold handle.I will run an actual batch of soap through it soon and add to this review. Well, I have not used it twice to create lye-based soap, and I absolutely LOVE it for that purpose. The height keeps the caustic mixture from splattering when I mix it with the stick blender. The handle is GREAT to keep onto when I pour the finished mixture into the mold. I am so glad that I bought this.

Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Pot with Glass Lid and Steam basket 12 cup review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:21

Love It!!! I saw this on QVC and found it on amazon. I used bonus cards obtained from Swagbucks to pay for it. I really like the measurement markings on the inside, so I can just fill it from the faucet. it is tall, so if you are a 'shorty' like me, don't place it on the back burner, or you can't see into it, lol. the handle is beautiful close to the pot, so be sure to put it as close to the edge of the burner as you can, or it will obtain hot. It has strainers in the lid, which will be amazing for a lot of things. I don't like getting out the strainer. Overall a amazing purchase and I would recommend it. It was shipped quickly too.

Awesome, awesome. Narrow and fits amazing on smaller burners, although it can also be used on larger. Have place a cup or two of water in the pot. Then I drop in the strainer. Heavier veggies go to the bottom first - usually the brussel sprouts or beets, whatever takes longest to cook. Part method through the cooking, I"ll add broccoli or cauliflower on top of whatever is in the pot. Just before it's done, I"ll toss the asparagus on top - allow it all steam for a few mins longer - it all cooks evenly and perfectly in this one pot - super simple to clean, to use, and store. My guests think it's the greatest thing since peanut butter and jelly! One pot - all those veggies - yep. Must have!

Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Pot with Glass Lid and Steam basket 12 cup review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:21

Very useful pot, I just have a few minor problems that hold it from being "5-star" in my eyes. The first dislike is the band of bruised finish in the middle of he pot. Why not all polished (as i prefer), or all brushed? It just looks a bit funny with a strips of brushed finish half method up it. My other problem is more of a functional one. The basket goes nearly to the very bottom, so anything you would like to steam is going to have the bottom portion boiled instead. I don't steam things much, but it could be more of an problem for others. Now, on to the amazing points. I found it heats water very quickly on my induction range, which was why I bought it. The lid fits nicely and is clear for viewing the contents, and contains two sizes of stainers built in. The handle doesn't obtain hot when using the pot, even when it is in use for awhile. The inside is graduated so I know how much is in it. The basket is beautiful handy and also has a silicone coated handle. The beak makes it a clean pouring pot, excellent for tea water or anything else you have to carefully pour. The pot has a vertical handle and narrow footprint to save zone on my stove top. I was really lost to giving it a 5-star rating, but a couple of minor problems kept me from doing so. I wouldn't have hesitated to buy this item if I had the experience with it I do now when it was purchased.

Kuhn Rikon 4th Burner Pot with Glass Lid and Steam basket 12 cup review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:21

I got this for use in a Travel Trailer. In combination with a frying pan and a non-stick sauce pan, the Multi-Pot handles all my other cooking needs (it has also replaced my teakettle, for example). It fits very well on the little gas stoves used in RV's and the handle doesn't extend out past the stove. For anyone either just building up a kitchen from scratch or dealing with a little kitchen, the Multit-Pot does an perfect job of replacing 3 or 4 other pots and pans. The handles stay cool and the shape gives you better leverage to lift a heavily loaded pan. Little spout, but it pours with no drips or dribbles down the side of the pot. Very clever design and amazing will need to use a long handled spoon to stir with, and the stainless steel model is definitely not non-stick, so exercise appropriate caution to hold meal from burning. The measuring marks on the inside are only to the nearest cup, but it would be difficult to be more precise peering into a tall, skinny pot.I highly recommend the Multi-Pot, especially for anyone with limited kitchen space.

Kuhn Rikon Deluxe Gripper Jar Opener Strain-free Lid Opening, Red review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

We've had this jar opener for several years so we've had lots of experience with it from little to huge jars. Occasionally, it will begin the cap on an averaged sized jar. The usual effect is that it slips off the lid quickly thereby causing bruised fingers. The metal "grabbers" on the underside of the Rikon are just not powerful enough, or perhaps not positioned well, to begin most jar lids. Often, the "thumb wheel" on top of the gadget has to be held with one finger and putting tension on the thumb wheel while attempting to twist off the lid. This is a beautiful difficult task and also a bit dangerous. Sometimes it takes a second person to keep tension on the top thumb wheel while the other person tries to twist off the lid. More often than not, we just run warm water over the lid, tap it lightly with a plastic hammer and twist the lid off with bare hands. Other times, a common strap wrench (the kind you obtain in a hardware store) works well too. This Kuhn Rikon looks amazing in the kitchen drawer but doesn't work to well for opening jar lids.

Kuhn Rikon Deluxe Gripper Jar Opener Strain-free Lid Opening, Red review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

This is an perfect tool for me. I have a lot of pain in my fingers when I test to grab and twist off lids from jars. Ah the missed days of youth! What I like the most is that I don't have to squeeze - which is the action that triggers my pain. The picture of the item is old as the item now has a larger knob that you turn to tighten the tool on to a jar. Then by pushing the handle, the lid twists off. Excellent too for those that have lost that powerful squeezing ability. I love it. Oh, and I did read the review of the one person who broke their jar opener - who must be awfully powerful to break it - and who most likely didn't need the tool in the first place. I see no happening that could happen to break this tool. That's just what I think.

This is a very versatile jar opener that, unlike so a lot of others, expands with a twist of the knob to accommodate larger jar lids. Once applied and tightened, the handle provides amazing leverage to begin even the most stubborn of jars. I tried to begin a wide-mouthed pickle jar by hand and no success after a lot of tries which included running the lid under hot water and knocking it versus a granite countertop. Opening the jar had to wait until this handy unit arrived. Once again, I tried to begin the jar by hand without success. Then I applied the Kuhn Rikon to the pickle jar, tightened it versus the edges of the lid, grabbed the handle and then......voila! It opened with one nudge.

This tool is fantastic. Due to carpal tunnel and some arthritis, I'm having a hard time opening jars and bottles. It works on everything from water/soda bottles to pickle jars to laundry detergent. Easy to use, just put it over the top and tighten the lever, and open. The only time it isn't so simple to use is opening little jars, because it's difficult to obtain a grip on the jar itself so you can use force on the lid. Still, it's awesome, highly recommend it.

...and I can usually muscle them off, but it can be really hard sometimes. Nice to have this beauty to fall back on if necessary. It can fit any jar I can search in my kitchen. It has been foolproof at fitting and gripping lids. Powering them off with the long handle is a breeze. I have older relatives that absolutely need a amazing jar opener and I will be ordering for them. I'll be there myself in a few years, so I'll be ready. I also like the "jar pop" style opener, which is quicker/easier to use but does not fit as wide a dozens of lids. Amazing to have both. But if you are only going to have one, this is it. Indispensable tool for every improvement: add markings to tell people which method to twist the knob to tighten the teeth versus the lid and which method to twist the handle to loosen the lid from the jar. Both are the standard (clockwise to tighten, opposite to loosen) Lots of people have a bit of confusion over this, and since you have two things and two various directions, it is especially likely here.

I have arthritis and also a demyelenating neurological disorder that causes pain and weakness in hands. I have had problem for years opening jars and bottles. My husband (love him dearly) bought this for me and it has been a lifesaver. I have used this to begin pickle jars, jam, soda bottles and even my water bottles. It's adjustable and uses small metal teeth (which I was opposed to previously) but if you secure it nicely on the lid it works spectacularly! No more frustrating nights home alone not being able to begin things...this device has been amazing for me and I recommend it! Hold in mind, there is a crank handle to turn on the top of it to adjust the teeth to meet the diameter of the lid, so if your pain is too poor or you have loss of dexterity in your hands this may not work for you....but it's worth a try. I was a small scared of the twist knob on the top, but have not had any problem with it.

I've had a few jar-assist gadgets but nothing works like this. Just center over the lid, turn the wing screw on top, then use the handle to give a amazing turn. I remember from my physics class a lot of decades ago that a lever (the handle) increases the power of the push/pull and by golly it sure does! One caution: do not over tighten the screw. It can actually compress the sides of the lid and then the lid binds harder to the jar. Just snug is all you need!

I can't live without this item. Simple to use. When a jar or bottle seems impossible to open, this small gadget really works. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it replaced a related opener that I had for years. My old one finally gave out. Unfortunately, when I compared the two, I found my fresh one was not as well made. I doubt it will latest as long as my older model.

Our old jar opener was the type with 4 sizes lined with thick rubber to support you grip and turn. The rubber finally gave out and started to disintegrate so after considering cheaper replacements, I decided on this tool instead. So glad I did! I like this much better than our old one and I think this will latest a long time. Highly recommend!

Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop, 3 Cup Food Chopper with Lid, Dark Blue review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop, 3 Cup Food Chopper with Lid, Dark Blue review [Book]  2019-12-6 18:22

Kuhn Rikon Original Swiss Peeler, Black review [Book]  2019-12-2 18:3

This is a piece of junk.Holding this peeler is awkward. It feels very little in your hand and the method the handle is designed, it's not simple to grip. Also, since the body is created from pliable / bendable plastic, the blade came out of the handle when I tried to [email protected]#$%!. I had to pop it back in, in order to use it. Not a amazing so, not sure if this is amazing or bad, but it shaves very thin slices from whatever it is you're trying to peel. Since it's not adjustable (most, if not all peelers, are not), if thin slices are not your thing, you just have to hold peeling.Unfortunately, I can't give a long term review of this peeler... The thing rusted after the first time I used it!Don't waste your time or cash on this.

We have worn out (after 10 years or so) this peeler and can't live without them. No one in our city had them in stock when our latest one quit peeling properly, so we bought a couple various ones locally while these were on order. I required to peel some lemons for limoncello so thought I would test all 3 types. I required a really thin peel (no white from the lemon) and the Kuhn Rikon peeler was the absolute best. So, if you wish thin peels, this is the set to get.

Best peelers on the shop for the price. Let's be honest no one is ever going to take the time to replace the blade of their peeler when it isn't sharp anymore, might as well just replace them as needed, and the price point on these fits ese are shaped strangely because they are meant to be held differently from the traditional peelers, and in holding these Y peelers properly you are afforded more dexterity, control and ultimately speed when using this device. I've peeled a ton of potatoes in my day, and Y peelers are most efficient for the task, same story for carrots. If you work in kitchens and peel things, place one of these in your knife bag! You wont regret it if you lose it, and you'll be glad you have it when you need it.

My son introduced me to this peeler and I have introduced others as I like them so much. For me, there was a little learning curve as I was used to ‘ye old potato peeler’, but once I got the hang of it, peeling veggies is a breeze. And not just veggies. I peeled a dozen apples this morning in no time at first peeler is over five years old and still as sharp as the day son gave it to me. I rinse it in hot water, lay on the window sill to air dry and then shop it to nothing rubs versus the blades. I recently bought another set, kept one for myself (always amazing to have a back up) and gave the other two to my sister. She loves it too.

These peelers were on my Amazon list for a quite awhile. They were recommended by America'sTest Kitchen and Serious Food. I peeled a couple of middle-sized potatoes and the peeler easily did its job quite well. I want the handles were at least an inch or two longer than they are and a bit heavier and thicker. I'd gladly take two peelers rather than three for the price if the handles were more comfortable to hold.

Amazing for making decorative spirals but I was hoping to create zoodles for dinner without the waste of a spiralizer in the center of the veg, but this is too cumbersome for that. But for salads or decorating when you dont wish to drag out the full sized spiralizer it is great.

I like this style of peeler and was replacing something I had for years. I thought Kuhn Rikon was a beautiful decent brand so I got this. After one round in the dish washer it started to rust. Now the blade is totally covered in rust and I'm throwing it away because I don't wish metal in my food.

This by far is the best f****** peeler ever created. I literally use it every day I'm at work. It can even handle sweet potatoes. The hole on the handle seriously makes it ergonomically superior to any peeler I've ever used (I'm a sous chef) and as long as you clean it after usage it WHICH YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DO 😠, it will latest forever 😁

Kuhn Rikon Original Swiss Peeler, Black review [Book]  2019-12-2 18:3

For those who work in the meal industry, this one is an mon complaints: Blade rusts, awkward to use, feels sponse:1.) The blade rusts because the peeler is not created of stainless steel. As someone else has already pointed out, it's carbon steel which requires more care (rinse/wash & wipe test with a kitchen towel right away) to prevent rusting. However, this makes the Kuhn Rikon peelers MUCH sharper. They also hold their edge longer than your normal metal swivel head peeler that most people are used to seeing.2.) For fresh users, the kuhn rikon peeler can feel quite awkward because its Y-shape means that it is best for certain things. In the restaurant business, peeling 10gallons of potatoes for mash happens every couple days and this is the peeler to do it. The Y-peeler is best for certain tasks and requires a certain grip and technique. It takes some getting used to but once you've got it down, you'll be going through apples and potatoes like no one's business.3.) These peelers aren't meant to be kept for years unless of course you only peel a few veggies a year. For the product intended use, these are plenty sturdy, can be thrown around, used, abused and still stay sharper for longer. A lot of prep cooks go through one of these every couple months just because of the sheer volume of meal they prepare. So, with professional wear and tear, you're not going to hold them around forever. The reason why cooking specialists are generally so happy with these is that the Kuhn Rikons are the best peelers when considering working efficiency, durability and mmary: If you're a home cook who only peels an apple as a snack and a few potatoes for dinner every few days, you might not wish to bother with getting used to a various kind of peeler and the slightly higher maintenance. BUT if you're in the meal industry, you know that you can't search what the Kuhn Rikon peelers have to offer anywhere else.

As a longtime cook I am always on the outlook for the best, most efficient instruments. This automatically excludes 95% of stuff sold. This "French peeler" is near perfection. Why would anyone use anything differently? I can remove the skins of peaches, pears and mangos, slice cheese, peel and thinly slice potatoes...and the price can't be e Kuhn, by the way, was selected as the best peeler of 2018 at 1/3 -1/4 the cost of higher end competitors.
