I like it a lot, but the two free lessons seem a small slim to evaluate the application with. I finished everything in 3 days and didn't feel certain about whether or not it was worth it to actually pay for more. As someone who's been trying to learn move beyond what's available in those lessons for years, I need more available content to evaluate if it's what I need. It'd also be nice if they had speed adjustment on the voices. The slow talking isn't realistic when you're talking to true people.
I have 9nly tried the free bit, i wish to wait until I have tried the premium bit before giving a rating but I'm locked out until I rate it. This is super annoying when apps do this, a rating should be given freely not forced upon the person trying an app, so I shall give a true rating later once I have tried it. The fact that I wish to test the premium ver suggests I may like it so why not wait?
I have tried the free units. I think this application is fun and helps help a wide range of language skills but it could improve. It could use official jyut6 ping3 and give a course on it before learning. It could also have a short course on the six tones/pitches before starting the major units. It could also give grammar and lexical translations as well as functional translations. That would support learners understand the logic of Cantonese better.
I've completed everything I can under the free subscription and it won't allow me continue. Also, For some of the questions the respond is in the image. For example, select which is 'jing man' but the photo is a picture of the flag. I suggest to remove that for the time being and just use translation. Other than this it's the best there is for Cantonese and very much appreciated
I have played the 2 free lessons available. I like that it has reading, speaking & conversation exercises, and the troops inside each lesson are bite size. However, for the speaking exercises I found that you have to speak slowly for the application to pick up what you're saying. There are some little bugs like the romanization did not match the woman's audio and there's a placeholder in the store carousel. After 2 lessons I was not persuaded this application is worthy of purchase.
Cantonese is an interesting one where it comes to spelling the written language in the app. I don't know anyone who knows the tonal numbers. In Hong Kong people often spell how they think it sounds. It's not like pinyin in Putonghua which is very standardised. Otherwise, beautiful cool so far ✌️
I downloaded the application on android, and so far I love it! Definitely one of the best apps out there for Cantonese. I love how modern it looks, while also being user friendly. My favorite feature is the chat box. It's well designed and makes you recall from memory what you have learned. For learning, the pronouciation is very clear - a lot of other apps have a robotic sounding voice, this one doesn't. There seems to be 50 total lessons, which is a amazing begin for the language.
Really like this app. I've always wanted to learn cantonese and it's a shame famous apps like Duolingo and Google Translate don't have the option to learn that language despite it being spoken by so a lot of people. I'm really glad i found this app, it's so good!
If you're looking for a "good enough" tutorial or supplement that delivers true results (assuming you place in the work), obtain this one.I checked out this book based its description, which invokes the 80/20 rule (aka Pareto Principle). Having read elsewhere about using the 80/20 rule to learn the essentials of a language and still be an effective communicator, I sought a resource that would provide the 20%. Except there was no convenient resource containing the 20% I'd need to know... until now.If there's one thing I hate about books, it's all the useless fluff. Too a lot of authors write for themselves rather than the reader. Too a lot of times I feel like the author should have paid ME for all the weekends I spent wading through a sea of t this book. The content is distilled to generate practical results. The length is short enough to be a fast reference should you ever obtain stuck, but it's long enough to give you the bird's eye view. If you're going to China tomorrow, skim Chapter 1 for pronunciation. For grammar, see Chapter 2, etc. It's step by step and logical depending on your needs.Celine did not mess around with this. If I could use one word to describe this book, I would say: intelligent. The info is extremely well organized, and there's absolutely no fluff. The grammar lessons are easy enough for a 3rd grader (who doesn't speak Chinese) and the broad range of vocabulary words and phrases could certainly cover [email protected]#$% for a month-long trek in rural China.
Overall, I found the book to be helpful. I have used it, along with other resources, to learn manderan Chinese.
I'm in my second year of learning Chinese and I have found to this book to be a very convenient resource of day-to-day vocabulary and sentence patterns. And the Chinese characters in the kindle edition work flawlessly, which is not quite so obvious on Amazon. Or elsewhere, frankly.
I'm traveling to Beijing and Shanghai in a few weeks so I've been browsing various simple Chinese learning books for some time. I decided on this one for several reasons and I am very happy with my rst, this book has Pinyin with tone marks and Chinese characters with every word and phrase. Most of the other books I browsed did not have either tone marks or Chinese characters. One just had Chinese characters along with the English and that does not create sense for a cond, the ebook formatting is perfect. Not good formatting on kindle books is my largest pet peeve. This book has a clean layout and professional presentation. It's very simple to ird, the subjects covered went beyond my expectations. There are phrases on asking for directions, ordering food, bargaining and shopping, and going to a bar. There's even a section on "romantic" stuff, i.e. talking to st but not least, this book provides a amazing foundation Chinese grammar. I did not expect Chinese grammar to be so straightforward but it actually is. Originally I just wanted to know some practical phrases, but now I can also obtain a amazing grasp of primary Chinese grammar.
Various languages have always intrigued me, and though I learned a few phrases from the French and Spanish languages in highschool, I am not fluent in anything except English. This book is written in a method that helped me relate to the Chinese language, that has always seemed so foreign to me in appearance. The author offers a nice presentation, isn't preachy and helps the reader learn easy and useful phrases. Though I am by no means fluent in the Chinese language, I am learning as I go along and understand a few phrases. I am going to continue to read this book until I feel more confident in the language.
