Attractive Everything from the exquisite artwork to the beautifully sung lullaby, and fully interactive pages, have created this application one that we still begin after having it for several years! A unbelievable application for Autistic kids with fun songs, lots of screen play, and giggles- my 6-year-old son still loves it! My only complaint? I want there was more! :)
Nice This and the other Fox and Sheep application (same developer) called Nighty Night are THE best bedtime, wind down apps for children 6 and under. It has become a ritual with my 3 and 4 year old. Hasn't gotten old for them in over a year =I might be a various story) . One of the best children apps ever created.
Amazing application Takes a bit of getting used to but my 18mth old is gradually discovering all it does...she finds items I didn't realise was there! Also by small fox their petting zoo application is fun and their nighty night application is super cute. On a phone the fox and nighty night are so detailed that they are a bit little but on a tab they are great.
My grandson is absolutely taken by this book. He is 3 years old and will "read" this book to his parents. I am a children's librarian and we have had some illnesses this winter. We talk about doctors as professionals like Small Doctor and how brave people are fighting the things that create us ill in to prevent a globe wide pandemic. We look at the human body model and discuss ways we can be fearless in our attempts to stay healthy for ourselves and others. Just the most perfect book for all ages. It is delightful.
Wow, the cover of this book doesn’t give this book the justice it deserves, I don’t think. The story inside is breathtaking. I had feared the worst but I knew it couldn’t be that poor considering it was a children’s book but this story had me. It’s a charming, tantalizing story that will pull you ep in the jungle there lives Small Doctor who cares for the crocodiles that come to her. Her pay? Tales. The crocodiles tell her awesome stories of escapes, horrible dangers and troubles that amaze Small day while working, one of the stories that she had heard arrived outside her door. SURPRISE! It was the largest crocodile in the land! Only today, the mouth of this beast had its mouth clamped shut. He needs her Small Doctor went to work examining the Huge Mean, the legend followed the doctor’s every move with its eyes, as she tried to search out what is wrong with the beast. Boy, Small Doctor is a very amazing and fearless doctor! When she goes to take her temperature, she is met with resistance. Over and over again, she tries to obtain the huge creature to begin its mouth but she refuses. How can she finish her examination and found out what is wrong with Huge Mean if she can’t take her temperature? How can she obtain Huge Mean to begin her mouth?I liked the suspense and the mystery in this picture book. You know there has to be a reason why Huge Mean won’t begin her mouth but what is it? How can Small Doctor obtain a large crocodile to begin its mouth? The persistence of Small Doctor is amazing and I liked her facial expressions. The illustrations are wonderful, as they are full of imagination. Makes you wonder why we all didn’t become vets like we wanted to when we were little.
Sophie Gilmore's incredibly detailed illustrations complement the story of a courageous girl who treats wounded crocodiles. The girl gets frustrated and cross, but perseveres in her ministrations. Each time you turn the page, there is a fresh delight to search in the pictures yet they never overshadow the delightful story with an environmental message.
This is such a sweet book!! I loved the illustrations that went along with the story. This book will keep the child's attention from the beginning until the end, and don't be surprised when they say "read it again'. Thank you Owlkids Books via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
This is a stunning book. The illustrations present a large depth of quirky detail and the main characters, ‘Little Doctor’ and the terrifying ‘Big Mean’ both have personality bursting out of the pages, demonstrated only through a subtle side eye or throwaway e crocodiles are not cute, but made as monsters to be respected and admired and the tale never feels saccharine, nor the notice preachy.
Imagine a girl veterinarian who lives somewhere deep in the jungle. Now imagine that she treats... crocodiles! What would her clinic look like? What kinds of injuries would crocodiles have and a Small Doctor heal? What kinds of stories could crocodiles tell? Sophie Gilmore's debut picture book Small Doctor and the Fearless Beast takes that premise and those questions and spins a yarn that is engrossing and arently when crocodiles tell tales, their legends are full of "terrible danger, dizzying escapes, and acts of amazing mischief." And if you treat them well, as Small Doctor does, crocodiles will share their stories as a reward. Small Doctor and her crocodile patients are part of an absolutely attractive and patently charming picture book that always feels just one jaw snap from disaster, but full of kindness as well. As a bonus, Gilmore's storytelling is matched (or exceeded, even!) by her unbelievable illustrations. Each page spread in Small Doctor and the Fearless Beast is full of info to be examined and pored over read after reread. There are crocodiles in every corner of Small Doctor's home, and it's fun to anticipate where the next one will be. When Huge Mean (the biggest, most fearsome monster of all!) comes on the scene, the spreads obtain even more creative. How will such a huge animal (reptile??) fit in Small Doctor's house? Especially when Huge Mean is feeling mean and uncooperative?Gilmore's watercolor and pencil illustrations are a delight. She masterfully captures light, shading, texture and color, and adds whimsy and magic to boot. Both adults and kids will have fun the risky suspense of sharp teeth juxtaposed with fearless kindness. Small Doctor and the Fearless Beast is an unexpected (and welcome) surprise, and a soon-to-be commended for: storytimes and read-alouds with small ones ages 4-7 (especially with kids who love animals, reptiles, and a small bit of bite), and for fans of beautifully illustrated picture books à la Where the Wild Things Are.
Small Doctor takes care of crocodiles. She kindness and gentleness while she marvels at their huge jaws and muscular tails. They share their stories with her as she treats their ailments and heals them. Still, when Huge Mean, the biggest crocodile of all, comes to her clinic, Small Doctor isn’t sure that she will be able to help. Huge Mean won’t allow her close enough to figure out what is wrong. Small Doctor won’t give up though and manages to obtain herself in quite a risky spot as she falls into Huge Mean’s begin jaws. But what she finds there teaches her that Huge Mean isn’t that mean after lmore’s picture book creates a fascinating dynamic between human and beast. The human is the smaller and weaker one here, giving support to the large green creatures. I also appreciate that the doctor is a girl, bravely working with animals who have sharp teeth and certainly aren’t cuddly in any way. Her bravery and kindness form the heart of the story as does the natural building of trust between her and Huge Mean. Readers will think that Small Doctor has created a large mistake, but in the end, her knowledge and deep trust shines lmore’s art is filled with little details, particularly when showing Small Doctor’s clinic. From the eggs in display stands to the series of various sized and shaped windows, this is a unique space. Gilmore fills the rooms with crocodiles, large swaths of green scales that are daunting. The photos very successfully help the story.A grand look at trust, kindness and care filled with crocodiles and one brave young doctor. Appropriate for ages 3-5.
This is a amazing kit for anyone who wants to create felted animals, but has no idea how to start. All supplies and tools are included, and I found the amount of wool to be method more than was required to create one animal. The only thing you will require that is not included is a padded surface to use underneath your needle so you don't stab yourself. I have one of those portable lap desks with a padded wrist rest, and that works excellent for me.
This is a amazing small kit. I've only created 1 of the 2 you can make. I've broken 3 needles already so I would suggest getting some back ups and getting one of those felting pen tools. It created it a lot easier. Very soothing to hold stabbing the wool. I th
These are amazing kits for a beginning felter. I bought one as a bonus for a 12 year old, and she really, really liked it. It's simple to jump into without having a lot of experience. I'd be careful buying it for children under 10, however. The needles are SUPER sharp!
A decent starter kit for someone who's never needle-felted before. It comes with more than enough for two tries, too. I had difficulty with limbs--just remember if you're creating parts by wrapping the wool around the provided skewer, wrap -tight-, and stab stab stab.
I love these kits. There's ample amount of material (a package of needles would be nice. Mine broke and I had to reorder). The only thing that's missing is what the final measurements (post felting) of the individual parts are supposed to be. This kit was the first felting I ever did.
