The fresh ver of this application is great. I had a few problems with the previous version, but they have been resolved. The navigational info is very useful for hiking, boating, or just finding your vehicle in a huge parking lot. Based on the bearing to the destination and your current heading, the application will tell you to turn x degrees to the left or right to adjust your heading. So you could be walking in massive fog with zero visibility and this application will tutorial you right to your destination.
It's an interesting app, but it can't seem to obtain my altitude right. I had my property surveyed not long ago, and I know the exact height above MSL is 274 feet. This application is always 100 or 200 feet less (varies). Other GPS apps on the same phone correctly display the altitude. 4 stars for that, 5 if that issue gets fixed.
I tried several GPS programs and would rate this the best. Nice to be able to load all my waypoints from the my Garmin and then by clicking on any one go straight to a streetview view. Plenty of data on tracks. Had a few queries but discovered that the very helpful owner responded to emails within hours. Trevor
I went directly to the Pro ver after reading a VERY positive online review. The reviewer was very accurate with his assessment. I've had the extra opportunity to communicate with the developer who is VERY helpful AND fast to respond! My travel needs are very demanding with various destinations daily -- both business & residential. Track me feature online works too!
Very useful, but the interface is not intuitive and the online manual seems to be for a completely various version. I just wish to record and view/follow my tracks later, which works OK, but it is very simple to accidentally add POIs or change to a various view. Also, the maximum zoom level isn't high enough to follow a twisting track through jungle
This is not an offline map and the navigation is very crappy. Voice navigation is very erratic. Maps are very inaccurate at a lot of locations. It's among worst apps in this category and a total waste of my money, even if it costs one penny! Don't create the mistake I've made. Don't even waste your time "trying out" this app. The 5-star reviews are very questionable. After using this application for an hour, I feel it deserves a NEGATIVE 5-star rating!
I thought it was really well written. He takes the time to truly discover all the various ways and reasons people live off grid. The interviews and his experiences painted a real picture of the various conditions involved among mostly attractive landscapes
Seems to work when I activate it manually, but the scheduler hasn't started beyond the first time it triggered. I did have a wind down schedule set up at first, maybe that's interfered with the scheduler starting? I disabled wind down and it didn't support with this evening's scheduled off the grid period, though.
Everything looked great. Set up everything and hit go off grid. I clicked the create call button and then the home button. Was instantly taken to my home screen and I had full access to my phone. Went back to the application and it didn't even say anything about being in off grid mode. It was as if I never started it. Response: I tried with both checked and both unchecked. Same issue.
Love this app. It's been very helpful for changing habits and increases productivity for me big-time. I haven't been using it for too long, but I can see my attention span increasing with time. My only want is that you had this application for PC as well. To be able to access nothing but Microsoft Word for a few hours (e.g. between coffee breaks) in my line of work would be even better :)
When it works I love this app. It's the only one I've found that, if set up right, doesn't have loopholes to obtain back into the phone. My only beef with it is that even though I've scheduled time to go off the grid every day sometimes the phone won't shut off. If this glitch could be fixed I would give this 5 stars because I love being able to schedule time where I just have a phone without all the distractions.
The application does what it says. HOWEVER- if you choose to turn off grid mode off before the timer is up IT WANTS YOU TO PAY MONEY to turn it off and use your phone. This is a amazing concept for an app, however paying to use your phone seems ridiculous. I love the apps idea and design, but I do see this as a major flaw. Super disappointing for me because I was so excited to use this app.
BEWARE - Ive just had to their $1.29 fee to unblock my phone because instead of running for 5 mins which was my try length to see how reliable it was Off the Grid blocked my phone for 12 YEARS and everytime I checked my phone the counter hadnt even started. Have uninstalled completely and suggest people use caution or avoid as its been a waste of time for me. If I could rate it less than 1 star I would have.
I like the idea, but sometimes I must obtain back into my phone and don't have the money, can there be an option to use features like settings, clock and torch? There are times that require the use of a phone. Also the ads feature doesn't work and every time someone texts it sends a link for the application to them.
autfully for me to obtain off my phone Update: Some sort of difficulties around travel/time changes; i woke up today on a WORK trip and had to to unblock because the application had taken me off the grid for 24 hours - and i therefore didn't have access to maps, or the capacity to text my colleagues with whom i was travelling. As a result, i may have to uninstall lit. i think this is some kind of weirdness with a scheduled off-the-grid from 10pm to 6:30am - i had a similar, but shorter and less problematic bout of this when we went through the fall time change from daylight savings a week or so ago. To be clear, when this happens, the program doesn't just operate on the previous time with the scheduled off-the-grid, it actually does weird, non-scheduled things.
when i tap on create a call and then press home button,I can use my phone for at least 4to 5 seconds which gives me the feeling that the phone is not locked. I downloaded this application after i tried flipd which had the same issue but even this has the same issue and it does not control me.
I installed it and Unchecked the Ad Button and Checked the Require Network Connection Button in settings after that I did my first Off the grid. And i saw the unblock button and i unlocked it by swiping that button to any direction and found out i was in home screen and please message before i unlocked, it showed the cost of unlocking is $1 but still i got unlocked and i clicked an application in the homepage it suddenly went off the grid again, but i swipped in to search that application i clicked before was open.
I have found this application very useful for limiting myself to when I use my phone. It works very well for completely blocking me from using it during the nighttime. However, I have found a bug in the scheduler that appears to have been mentioned by other users. I'm sure there will be a fix for this soon, but there is also any simple workaround. Its not similar to the power settings. I like to be "Off The Grid" from 21:00 to 7:30 (essentially nighttime) and although I can set a single schedule with this to reoccur daily, it doesn't work. It only reoccurs every other day. The bug seems to be that it takes the date of when the scheduled end occurs and then sets the next scheduled begin for one day later. For a schedule like mine that rolls over to the following day, this means that it ends up skipping every other day. The workaround for an overnight schedule that you wish running daily, is to define three separate schedules. One for Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. A second for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and finally a third schedule just for Saturday. All three have a schedule time of 21:00 to 7:30. This works very well now and I can go Off The Grid reliably every night at 21:00. Its a amazing application and I finally have peace and quiet in the evenings!
Overall, good. Unfortunately, there is a loophole and you can turn it off from off-grid mode by clicking on the android device notification for “Is Running in the Background”. If you have a moment of weakness, then this loophole will be an issue. If I can obtain that notification to stop, then this would work great.
I have a schedule set from 8pm-5am every day. Now I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it seems to be working correctly only half the time. Sometimes the application works as intended but other times I can just obtain on my phone and proceed as normal. Is there any fix for this? As of now 3 stars UPDATE: Did some fiddling around and now it works as intended
I've just installed this application and it is precisely what I need to hold myself from being on the phone at night. Thank you so much for this app! It is just perfect. I swear, if I'll ever see anyone who helped developing it or was in charge of the project, I'll them a drink and treat them to a food wherever they want. I'm dead serious. This application might just fix the largest problem in my life right now. Thank you once again! (Small update: I also signed up for a monthly subscription ^^)
