I love the book. The contents of the book are more then I expected. I am satisfied with the product but not so satisfied with the bent corners. Needs better packaging. I would recommend it for the price!

I feel if I was more interested in the subject, i would have fun this book more. However, since it is because I am needed to take a horticulture class, pay $380 for the class, and the teacher death marches us through chapter after chapter then asks us the most obscure questions that are near impossible to find, I have found a little hatrid for this book.

The student for whom I bought the book says: "The book helped a lot to clarify some issues I was having. Plus, getting to learn a few more welding processes [from the book] allows me to move up and learn "hands-on" in class because I know the basics so much better. The guys just don't have time to teach it all, yet."

Principles and Applications of Electrical Engineering []  2020-7-1 20:1

Its a really confusing text book. I would just be confused after spending hours reading a chapter, and then I would google the subject and understand it in about 5mins on some publicly hosted site. Just don't read this text book. If you're assigned this text book, obtain the pdf for doing homework problems, and learn the concepts elsewhere. The text seems intentionally confusing. I really hate this text book, and I will end up with a B or possibly even a C in my Circuits class. I'm normally an A ckily Amazon has an amazing return policy and I returned it after trying to read two various chapters in this text book.

Not good textbook. I took a class for mechanical and chemical engineers that used this book, and it was all-around useless for everyone I knew. It didn't create a amazing introductory textbook to the subject, even for those with some engineering background. Would not recommend.

This book is terrible. The text is impossible to actually search anything useful. The examples are just laughable. They are so far of a stretch for the material, honestly they usually are method method method too hard for any try or homework. The issues at the end of the chapter always have dozens of errors. Our teacher corrected the book over and over. I'm sure the only reason we used it is because he is a professor at my school. I don't care what Rizzoni has achieved, he can't write books to save his life.

Principles and Applications of Electrical Engineering []  2020-7-1 20:1

We have only created it through some of chapter three, and in the dozen issues that we've had, we have found nearly half a dozen errors. Misprinted subscripts on prob. 3.17, random arrows(in the middle of a circuit on 3.3), lack of required values (3.1--it's 1 Ohm), and then the outright wrong(3.17 asks for the resistance through a nonexistant 40-Ohm resistor when there is nothing above 3 Ohms). Don't buy the book; the errors are still ridiculous. And then the author plugs himself in manyof the pictures in the first chapter ("courtesy of Giorgio Rizzoni"). I reccomend buying the older edition and borrowing someone else's if you need the 5th edition problems. This book was a waste of money.

I was satisfied to keep this book quickly. I required it for work. I was dissapointed that the book was waterlogged when I opened it. Seems as though it was sitting in the rain, and was not packaged in plastic. After several days of letting the book dry, I finally got to read through it. I suppose this was more the fault of nature, but other book sellers packaged their products in plastic, now I can see how very necessary that is. Thanks for the book...use plastic next time.

I am currently in a engineering circuits class that requires this book. The 5th edition has a letter attached for the first page stating the company's commitment to accuracy. The letter then describes 7 steps taken to verify the content and accuracy.I have just started and chapter 2 is loaded with errors in the example and homework problems.I want I could obtain my cash back or a manual filled with corrections. I can not even do the homework or read the chapters on my own with confidence because there is no telling when I am wrong or the book is.

This is the absolute worst text I've ever used for any class. It excels at writing volumes that explain nothing. The mistakes in the text, problems, and solutions are too numerous to create this book have even marginal utility. Necessary principles are explained through applications that often require extra knowledge and just confuse people. If you have a class that requires this text, buy ANY other circuits text and photocopy the issue sets. Tell your prof that (s)he should dump this book. It's a complete waste of your time and cash to even attempt to deal with this text.

FISMA Principles and Best Practices: Beyond Compliance (Nano- and Microscience, Engineering, Technology and Medicine Book 10) []  2020-9-24 19:35

I have referenced this book several times and it has been helpful for reporting and general guidance. For Continuous Monitoring I search the NIST publications to be more useful. NIST SP800-137 is the Continuous Monitoring tutorial and includes a reference to SP800-39 Risk Management (see also 800-37 and 800-30) plus SP800-53 and SP800-53A on understanding and evaluating controls. I sometimes reference this book to interpret government-speak which can be very handy. The ISO 27000 doentation is also very handy for reinterpreting NIST to business and SP800-53 has a mapping of NIST to ISO in Appendix H. Although it is the 2005 ver of ISO 27002 it is still useful to avoid the 'are you speaking Klingon' looks.

Mr. Howard's book, in my opinion is on point, and literally "text book" in terms of its true globe applicability. I have used his book as a Info Security Consultant and in the class room, teaching on the topic of Risk Management Framework (RMF). The practical tip on how an organization plans, staffs and successfully executes FISMA and compliance best practices within the organization, quite simply is good, sound tip and it works. Mr. Howard offers usable info that considers the nuances and anomalies associated with IT Security help operations, and provides the framework organizations can use to successfully implement a FISMA compliant IT Security program. I was expecting something better. If an author ties the apron strings of the NIST SP 800-40 Vulnaerability Process to the frayed Irish Pennents of the Risk Mnagement Framework and describes how that fits into the SDLC and Configuration Management Process, they could create a lot of money. However, that is not that book. This is the most expensive and the least valuable book I have bought at Amazon nand it is going back tomorrow. I expected more from CRC as well- since my other CRC references are a small worn from decades of use. Specific flaw in this book (one of Many). On Page 250, an OMB memo is reprinted with FAQ. a TOC is on that page. Since this doent is embedded in the book, the page numbers would be wrong if the original numbers were printed.... (OK)... But did they place in correct page numbers? No- the .... TOC Tpoics have no page number reflected. Now, to the more abysurdy... Vulnerability is mentioned on pages 178 and 179 (that is all). You would obtain more for your cash by taking the $71 to Kinkos, and printing the OMB -15 (just google OMB and CYBERSCOPE), then obtain the FIPS 199 and 200, NIST SP 800 and key words security plan, patch, risk, SDLC, NIST 800-53 and 53A The 800-40 PVM v2 and the draft v3, the -37 Risk Mgt Framewotk, configuration management, cloud computing, etc and you will have what this book could have been (you will also possibly leave with enough cash in change to splurge at Starbuck's. Lastly, a book like this needs to cross reference to authorotative edicts so you can reference those (to the boss who is just not getting it), True references, not the opinion of some Chemical Rubber Company Press Author!. This may be from CRC Press, but this rubber product holds no water.. This book does pass the R.A.H try of having enough pages to keep the covers apart but that is its best feature. . Best of luck in finding a amazing guide, Rick DeGraffenreid CISSP, Federal Cyber Security Professional, Washington DC.

System Engineering ysis, Design, and Development: Concepts, Principles, and Practices (Wiley Series in Systems Engineering and Management) []  2020-1-15 19:24

System Engineering ysis, Design and Development was in depth, full of explanation, extremely detailed, followed out processes and steps to their logical and coherent ends with complete explanation and understanding. Not a reading book, not intended to be full of wit, or be "fun", this is a serious professional study of the subject and if it is being utilized as the base resource for a masters level class on the subject, it will provide the basis of the topic and the references will lead to even fuller understanding of the topic material. I bought this to have a ready reference for my job as a system security engineer and to have the primary process steps at my finger tips. My reading and homework included in depth of the sections that were pertinent to what I was being tasked with and the references gave me the broad and deep dive that I required to accomplish my tasks with superiority. My colleagues who were winging it, kept borrowing my book. My bosses saw it on my desk one day and remarked that it was part of their primary library for the field. Well written, Wiley provides the best as always!

Provides an exhaustive number of illustrative examples along with an informative narrative complete with checklists and recommended content for needed doentation. It is well-suited for a textbook for undergraduate students. In my case, I am an engineer and use this book as a regular reference to help my work. I purchased the Kindle ver and soon followed up with a hardcopy of the book. You will not be disappointed.

Well, let's place it this way: this is THE BOOK on Systems ere are amazing books out there, there are quite a few rather poor, and a few are really a must. And just above all of them lies this awesome encyclopedia of the Systems Engineering ysis, second to none and seeing the rest from the heights and loneliness of the ere are some minor typos that do not deserve, and the current index order is somewhat convoluted, since it goes in further detail to the same concepts from up to three various points of view, but these factors must not obfuscate the universal truth behind this book, that reads:This is the best book ever on Systems fact, it is so damn amazing that you basically do not need any other SE book. If any, I would like to complement this one with a very different, but also unbelievable and really actionable one, Process for System Architecture and Requirements Engineering from Derek Hatley, Peter Hruschka and Imtiaz Pirbhai, rather various from this one in style and content but also quite useful. But if you must decide, buy this one. It is just not an option: if you are working is the systems engineering flied, you must use this book.I recommend it openly and heartedly to anyone. You cannot obtain disappointed with it.

Truly a garbage format for a textbook. Very hard to follow, not logically written. Even the index is a challenge.

This textbook is a amazing refresher of things I've learned over a lot of years of practicing systems engineering. There are many, a lot of illustrations and clear text that create concepts and actions clear and simple to read and absorb.

System Engineering ysis, Design, and Development: Concepts, Principles, and Practices (Wiley Series in Systems Engineering and Management) []  2020-10-4 18:35

Comprehensive and authoritative textbook on Systems Engineering.
