I use if for a load lock on my toyota tundra truck. Works great! The latest one I used, I purchased from Home Depot and was light and cheap. This thing is massive and strong. Very satisfied with this product.

Amazing product but too massive duty for my needs and it will cost half of what I paid for it to return ship it for a credit so I will search a use for it.

I love this thing. We have a cube truck where I work we move a small of everything from banker boxes full of paper to huge tables and boxes of clothing. this thing keeps everything from moving. We also have a little van and it shrinks to fit that as well. Far better constructed and better material thanthe cheep load bars you can obtain at hardware and homemart type stores. This is what I've been looking for.

Security Chain Company SC1032 Radial Chain Cable Traction Tire Chain - Set of 2 review []  2020-1-12 18:36

I bought two sets of these chains for a Volvo S60 with tire measurements of 235mm wide, 45 aspect ratio, and 17" diameter - exactly as the manufacture says to buy on their size chart. The directions for these chains specify NOT to use tighteners, and so I did not. I have been putting chains on vehicles for 5 years now and I know what I'm doing. None the less, these were BRAND NEW chains, and so I followed the directions, place them on exactly as specified ( which was annoying because they wanted the "wiggle-wheel" way and I prefer the "drive-to-middle" way ) and in less than 20 miles, going no faster than 25mph with about 2 inches of hard packed snow on the road, 3 out of 4 chains broke. One after the other, they all just snapped somewhere along the circumferential wire. I have never used worse chains.

The Good:I place these on my 2015 Mustang GT on 19" wheels which, apparently, could obtain stuck on a snowflake and a slight uldn't obtain out of the parking lot at work without them, so I place them on and drove home, impossible in this storm without these ey worked better than I expected, on a RWD vehicle with no weight over the driving e Bad:I stopped after about 1/2 mile to tighten the OUTSIDE of the cables.Well, it's necessary to read the directions.Let me say that 's necessary to read the directions.Well, in hindsight, I should have tightened the INSIDE cable first, as other reviews e Ugly:Unfortunately, by the time I got home, shovelled the steep driveway, and attempted the climb, one of the traction cables was sliding to the outside of the tire.I was tired, cranky, and really just wanted to be done with the whole snowstorm situation so I hit the throttle and tore up the cable. What will I do now, you ask?Fortunately, it didn't do any hurt to my car. And, since I can see where the fault was mine, I'm actually ordering another set because they worked so well. What would you do differently?Just check to create sure they are tightened equally inside and outside your tire, and realize that they are meant for light duty.

These are a minimal solution to meeting CA chain carry requirements on vehicles with insufficient clearance for true chains. Inexpensive. Not difficult to install (maybe slightly easier than chains). California chain requirements can be a bit excessive, forcing you to mount chains even when the streets are partially clear. Issue is, the tubular pieces that protect the cables serve as roller bearings on dry patches. I had so much wheelspin in a gentle uphill begin that it upset the traction control. This is probably common to most brands of cable chains - I noticed others around me having the same issue - some couldn't move at all on dry pavement. Hint: install in your own driveway or garage to obtain the fit right, remember the setting for the inside cable, and you can go straight to that setting in the field and do final adjustments on outside cable, much easier to access. Also, carry a groundcloth to lie down on in the snow and light work gloves to hold your hands clean and warm.

We used the chains once or twice latest winter and they worked fine. Quick forward 1 year, we're heading to the snow again and need to use the chains. They looked beautiful rusted but I figured that was normal. One chain broke after driving a mile or so. Then the second one broke AND managed to obtain lodged in the tire well, ripping through the window wiper fluid container and damaging the tire. We're now driving in snow, with no chains and a soon to be flat tire and naturally obtain stuck trying to obtain up a hill. It cost us $275 to tow the vehicle to obtain a fresh tire $90 and then paid $400 to repair the hurt inflicted by the broken chain. Definitely not worth it. Do not recommend.

I was so excited to use these cause we got snow this morning and I work at a hospital so I have to work. Installation was super easy, but as soon as I pulled out my garage one broke😱...... then I drove just a small and I kelp getting stuck and eventually I ended up stranded in my own neighborhood💀. So I took them off and just drove with my regular tires and was fine. Maybe these work for someone else, but was horrible for me👎🏽.

Very simple to install. kind of self explanatory. I place it backward on the first tire but after reading the manual, undo the cable and redo ry necessary to put it correctly. Will see what i mean after looking at the e whole process took about 15mins.Tighten 5-6 notch on each side of one tire and lock the additional length cable with yellow plastic(jpg) secure ed about 5mins to double check I installed it correctly.Drove for a mile, stop'd to check again.Drove more than 50 miles before removing it the first mileage 150miles in snow storm s station and police check point people were charging 150$ to install.I paid Amazon 30$.My advise, buy a spare set and bring it along when travelling in winter storm location.

We purchased these chains for our 2010 Kia Sedona on our trip back to Oregon from Arizona. When we hit the pass, I had to place the chains on. The instructions were straight forward and super simple. They fit snug and I was able to place them on with snow e chains worked well in the light snow (just a few inches) and got us down the street far enough so we were in the clear. While they came off easily, getting them back in the case was a bit of a challenge. The case was and is bulging, but I finally got it to latch.Overall, I highly recommend these chains. Even as a chain novice, I was able to hook it up easily.

I bought these right before the January 2016 blizzard that hit the east coast. Okay, where I live it wasn't a blizzard per se, but it did leave 14 inches of snow on the ground. Here in Central Virginia we aren't used to that much snow, and my small Ford Focus wasn't exactly built for it, either.I created the mistake of not putting these on the vehicle before the snow started. There were only a couple of inches on the ground when I did, but the instructions (and just about every other review, probably) say to try fit them first so you'll know what you're doing when you really need them. Anyone who knows me knows I did not do that, so they took me a small longer to obtain around the tires than they should have. It isn't a difficult process, but doing it the first time with snow already under those tires is a pain and makes it take longer than it should. So please, for your own sake, if you know snow is coming the next day, place them on before it starts falling. If the forecast was wrong you can always take them off again.Once these things were on, they worked like a champ. When it snows, I have to work. The snow started falling that Friday and I drove to work right at the beginning of it. I did not place the chains on the tires until after I arrived. Like I said above, there were already a couple of inches on the ground by then, which created the process more difficult. I probably spend about half an hour doing it. By the time I left work that night, there were probably 6 or 7 inches on the ground. While that may not be a lot for a lot of of you reading this, it's a lot for us here in Richmond, VA. Since the snow was coming down beautiful steadily, the snow plows hadn't been able to accomplish much at that point, and a lot of the streets I had to take had not been touched. But, with these chains on the tires the Focus had absolutely no issues whatsoever. The traction light did not come on one time--and it's beautiful sensitive, usually lighting up whenever the vehicle hits a decent-sized puddle. There was no speeding down the street (instructions say hold it to round 30 or 35, I believe) but no slipping or sliding. Braking wasn't a problem, nor was getting going from a stop. I only had a couple of little hills to traverse, but there were no issues there, -forward to Sunday morning, and it was a various of a story. The vehicle had been parked since Friday night when I got home (not sure how I managed to NOT have to work Saturday, but I wasn't complaining). By then, there were 14 inches of snow on the street (my street had not yet seen a plow of any kind) and it had drifted up over the headlights on the Focus. In that situation, the chains really couldn't do much at all. Even after I dug out the car, this snow didn't package very well, so it was impossible to obtain "on top of it". The chains really couldn't do much when the snow was high enough for the front bumper to be acting like a plow. Fortunately a true plow came along just in time for me to leave for work. It only had time to create one pass, so there were still about 6 inches on the ground when I was able to leave, but that was no more of a issue than it had been Friday overall I was happy with how the chains worked. For a little vehicle like the Focus, they create 6 or 7 inches of snow no issue to navigate. Having real winter tires might work just as well but chains are a lot cheaper--especially when you live in a put where you'll only have to use them once or twice a year.

You can satisfy the silly California law requiring even 4x4 trucks with Mud and Snow tires (like I have on my truck) to carry chains with you in your car at CHP "Chains Required" checkpoints with these "econo" cable chains. Note that the CHP Apparatchiks will not let you to pass on streets with "chains required" even with a 4x4 with M&S tires, even in milder R1 or R2 conditions, unless you can present them that you have chains with you. You are only needed to actually use chains on a 4x4 with M&S tires in "R3" conditions, i.e., when the snow is blowing so badly that it's a white-out or it's in huge, unplowed drifts. However, in R3 conditons, you should obtain off the street and not possibility driving blindly off the street or obtain into a head-on with another vehicle. CHP usually closes streets in R3 conditions anyway. I don't ever intend to use these (or any other chains) on my 4x4 since only very expensive ($700 and up for just two of the four wheels you'd need to chain up) truck chains (read: rusty, heavy, messy, and hard as hell to place on even in daylight with no snow blowing) would be dependable in R3 conditions. And I'm not going to test to place chains on all four wheels and maybe obtain killed by another driver who never saw me squatting down on the roadside trying to obtain my chains on in a blizzard. Always have a full tank of gas, provisions, and warm clothes in your car at all times in snow country, and you can ride out the worst safely off the street without risking an accident in a storm. You might wish to obtain in the habit of checking weather conditions regularly before any driving in the snow. Hey, it's winter and your life and the lives of your loved ones depend on your prep like nowhere else. Jus' sayin'....

Used these twice now in Fresh Hampshire and saved me hours of shoveling my jeep out. Had to obtain unstuck from an unpaved dirt driveway that was covered in deep snow (12-15”). Once I was able to jack the vehicle up enough to fit 1 set of chains I got out of the situation on the first try. The second time I used them I drove up a steep 150ft uncleared driveway (estimating 25-35 degree incline) after a 15” wet snow storm. I got up the hill without even using 4wd, and had traction control turned off.

Simple to instal, really amazing price. But this product needs a size chart. So.. model 1062655 will fit on tires 20x8.00x8 and 20x8.00x10 . I installed them on my 42 in Craftsman lawn tractor along with security chain model QG20030 (quick grip little tire traction chain rubber tightener, wich I got on Amazon as well)

This review is for the 1062655 chain - 20x8x10 install on a cub cadet LT 1050 lawn tractor. Getting the chains on was tougher than it looks on the you tube videos, but I think its because they install them very loosely on those videos. I was able to install both chains on the lawn tractor in about 30 minutes by letting most of the air out of the tires, installing the latch link to the 2nd link and using pliers to obtain the link hooked. Once I re-inflated them, they fit nice and tight and did not need the additional tensioners at all. The chain I received is a Peerless Chain Max-Trac tire chain. 4 link spacing. I ran them in about 6 inchs of wet snow and they did not do very well, on packed snow they were great. In hindsight I should have spent the additional cash to obtain the 2 link spacing as I think that might work better for my application. The need for driving in snow is to pull a wagon full of wood from the barn to our house for the fireplace. I was able to do it with my son pushing in one spot of deeper snow where it got stuck. All in all they are very amazing quality chains and I am satisfied with the perfect price.

Security Chain Company 1061756 Max Trac Snow Blower Garden Tractor Tire Chain review []  2019-12-19 19:53

These chains were a bit tricky to install, as are most chains, but fit nicely and create all of the difference in traction on snow and ice. Not sure whether I required chain tensioners but, distrusting the rubber bands with the plastic hooks, I picked up some springs at my local Ace Hardware to prevent possible slippage on the tires. The chains fit well enough that this might not have been necessary, but I would rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them. By the way, one of my concerns when shopping for chains was the minimal clearance between the inside edge of the tires and the body of the snow blower. The links on these chains are little enough that there is no issue with clearance, but are still huge enough to provide plenty of traction. Need I add that the price is right on these poor boys?

Seems like a quality chain but the listing is very misleading. There are no detailed specifications and listing and it seems that Amazon groups all of the reviews for all of the products together. So there are people making comments saying that fit 18 inch tires perfectly yet the pack I received in the mail is for very very little tires like a really little snowblower definitely not a lawn tractor. The company should listed under scription exactly what tires it fits

this much i know... there is method too much modifying needed to obtain these to fit my 14x5.00x6 tire (it's a lot of links too big). there are 5 various size tires for this app per the manufacturers chart and my tire is right in the middle of said chart. surely there is a better way, or a closer fit, than what arrived to my door. if I was buying again for my application, i'm not going with this brand. a link or two of modification, is expected but not like this went. i also aired down my tires and up to maximum in my attempts to a proper fit. pro tip; chains should not fall into the lugs/recesses of your tires and bungee tighteners are for the birds... make/buy your own with hardware shop rings and springs.

These are amazing chains for the money. I have deep treads in my tires and I had to really fiddle with them a lot to install them in order to hold the cross chains out of the gaps in the rubber. Once I got them tight they stayed place and worked well. I used utility wire and bungee cords to tighten 'em up true nice. ;-)You would think my deep tread tires wouldn't need chains but after a lot of struggling and swearing during my first use it became obvious that on hard packed snow they will just spin around and the machine won't move. Obtain the chains. You'll have a much easier time with your snowblower.

I got these for 4.80-8 tires on my Craftsman 8hp snowblower. The knobby tires have about 1/2"-3/4" deep tread on them, which 'looks' beefy, but they were slipping on slushy/icy snow. These chains fit the tires perfectly, but are completely useless since the chain is not thick enough to stand proud of the treads (the chain sits between the treads). During installation, when using pliers to lock one of the links (per the directions), the hook portion that secures the ends of the chains snapped off. I was able to use some visegrips to 'make' a fresh hook and complete the installation, but certainly would have preferred not to have had that trouble. If you don't have deep-treaded knobby tires, these will probably do the trick for you. Just be careful on the installation.

I've had a 30 year old smaller set of these chains for an equally old John Deere 212 and they work well and have held up well. No appreciable wear. Just ordered a set for a Massey 2610 TLB. While the Massey is a larger machine and the chains will obtain more abuse, I don't anticipate any issues considering how well the other set have held up on the Deere. It too sees it's share of hard work beyond snow removal and the chains on that tractor stay on year round. I'll know more when I keep the fresh chains, but if the old ones are any indication I have no fears. Do yourself a favor though and order direct from Outdoor Power Deals to save a few bucks.

Perfect chains, the fit was perfect, I didn't need/use tensioners.. I went to Youtube and found a video on how to place them on correctly by deflating the tires and then adjusting the chains, then re-inflating... they are sturdy and present very small wear after one season here in Eldora Iowa. They work amazing for going up over the curbs, icy spots, inclines and also i have a section of yard that i need to go over to obtain to my patio and the chains give me that additional traction that I need.

As others have said, they are snow blower chains, shiny metal, then after a year, oxidized metal.I too, personally want I would have done this three years ago when the idea first came to me. These fit my Ariens incredibly well after I chop the excess links off; I ended up taking out two links on one side and one on the other with an angle grinder to obtain them to fit snug. I know that will create them not perfectly symmetrical on the inside of the rim and the outside, but they aren't coming loose, and will hopefully be on the snow blower until they rust er than buying a fresh snow blower and makes it easier to run because I have more traction. This should create a difference in the Wisconsin winters. Both chains were the same/correct size. I had no problems installing them after using Youtube.

I've place chains on fire engines a few times, and hated it each time. They're heavy, cold, filthy, and a lot of strength required. That in mind, I really hoped these "chains" would be a better experience. They're really quite good! We watched the video and read the instructions yesterday, but I forgot about sweeping the chains around the inside of the tires. So don't forget that part. Here is some other tip which, especially if you're not a chain expert, will be almost sure to pay huge dividends:1) If you practiced putting them on once, DO IT AGAIN! I promise you'll learn a couple of tricks. We practiced putting them on, driving around a bit, taking them off, putting them on again, driving around, and taking them off. Each time we got better. 2) Taking them off without getting them hooked on the suspension takes a bit of practice, and following idea#1 will support A LOT! 3) place a pair of gloves in with the chains, 4) place a pair of knee pads with the chains and 5) place one chain in a bag or something. Untangling these took several mins which, in wet or miserable snow conditions, would have seemed much, much longer.

These work very well. They're snug, which means it can be a bit of a pain to obtain them installed... but that also means they don't flop around once installed. So 4 stars... amazing quality and tight fitment, but installation requires precision and tip: don't test to place these on where there's traffic or it's potentially unsafe. You do need to be fairly precise with getting them aligned and centered on the tire, and you'll likely need to smooth a patch of ground to obtain them aligned correctly so they'll close and the rubber tensioner can be installed. If you test to rush, they won't be aligned and the tensioner doesn't wish to go cond tip: Hold the rubber tensioner rings inside the car where it's warm until you're ready to place them on. Obtain the cable chains aligned and installed first, then grab one of the tensioners from the warm cab and install it, then do the second one. If you leave the tensioners outside in the cold, they'll obtain REALLY stiff, making installation a major ird tip: USE GLOVES. Amazing ones. Those thin plastic liners they contain are a joke. Supposed to hold your hands clean and dry, but they tear easily and your fingers freeze. Obtain some warm gloves with the textured rubber palm and finger surfaces.I have a 2500HD Silverado that usually gets through snow and ice in winter just fine without chains, but when pulling stranded vehicles out of the ditch I need a small more traction, and these do the trick. One pair on the rear axle, the truck grips and tugs the vehicle out with no drama.

Purchased these chains for a trip to Mammoth and knew that storms were on the way. Got up the mountain just fine without but sure enough, we awoke the next morning to over a foot of fresh snow and it snowed continually all day. Created it to the lifts without the chains but definitely required them to obtain down. Installed as per the instructions (I had done a dry run in my garage before the trip so I would be comfortable with the process) and got them on with some ease. started rolling out and "SNAP". I looked down and one of the cross cables just snapped off at the inner connection point! Bummer..... Had to zip tie the cable down to the chains so it would not ruin my vehicle (figured I would chop it off once I got down the hill to a hardware store) and started out again. 1/2 tire rotation and "SNAP". Now I am @#$%ed - another broken cable at the same point and it is now dangling off the tire. I am now trying to locate a wire or bolt cutter because this is a major issue and not sure if the vehicle is drivable at this point. 1 hour of trying various tools - Bolt cutters, wire cutters, etc. from all over the ski resort I come across a cheat saw in the ski rental department. They were kind enough to allow me use it and I chop off the 2 broken cables. The chains worked after that but I was nervous they would snap at any time and trash my car. Not confidence inspiring when you bought them for confidence in the snow. Hope they see this review and offer me a replacement chain as I will assume this was simply a defective item. We will see.

I own a 2WD Ford Ranger. I don't have a locker installed. I slapped some BFG's on and felt like I could drive up a mountain. I had been dreaming of going and seeing Yosemite in the snow and on 12/23 I loaded up the Ranger and went for it. We stopped in Oakhurst and went grocery shopping and took just long enough for a storm the begin right as we headed into the park. I had never driven in snow and a few miles up the street from Oakhurst the snow started coming down r practicality the chains obtain a 10/10. The leads and hooks are very indentifiable and relatively simple to obtain to on the inside section. I had never place chains on a vehicle before so it wasn't quick at all but fortunately we figured it out. As we approached the entrance to the park via the Wawona street the snow came down hard. With the combination of fresh all-terrain tires and the chains I was kept safe. It was a very long drive from Oakhurst to our cabin inside the park and I kept traction the entire time. I kept these on for 5 days and 4 nights and had small to no loss of traction going up and down the grades and throughout the park streets which were completely iced over for a couple of days. I'm really thankful I had these as the chain requirements were up the entire time I was in trip I noticed some surface-rust build-up on the rings and possibly some rings missing. Still they're reusable and I'll be keeping them for my next snow trip. Very well created and simple to use. They kept me safe and prevented me from sliding off those windy terrifying streets in the park and that's all I can ask for. I would buy this product again.

Not my first set of Z "chains"/cables.. I just got a Gen 2 Dodge Ram and bought these since I didnt have any to fit these size tires.Had a small "unexpected" snow that ended up being deeper than expected. Required to go check on my daughter who lives 22 miles way. The snow got (as my grandfather would say..) "slick as snot on a doorknob", and my BFG tires no longer got amazing traction.I pulled over and place these on.. Created the trip out and back and never slid or spun a tire.I will create mention, 2 years ago we got a poor snow/ice event, it was beautiful deep.. I was running a K5 Bazer with 31" tires and was running the Z "chain"/cable on the Blazer at the time.. They worked amazing then too, however after pulling about 3 various cars out of ditches I broke one of the cables.I dont run these and place anyone out anymore, however for "regular" driving these should latest a lot of a lot of years. Ive run them 5-6 snow seasons, multiple times each season and never had a moments problem. If you obtain on the street where snow is not very thick (1/2"?) or where the street has been scraped well enough you can see pavement, the ride will be a small rough.. Its the nature of the device but it bears mention so you wont think something is wrong. Once you obtain into some snow that is a small thick (3-4") the ride is smooth. Agn, the nature of the ill method better than dealing with full blown snow CHAINS!

I've had and used chain style chains in the past - pain in [email protected]#$% to use but always reliable. Bought these as they had amazing ratings and seemed easier to use. Chains are needed to have in possession going over the passes even if you don't need to use them. Finally had an opportunity to need these. Removed from pack - still in factory fresh condition. Installed per directions on flat, level road. Everything tensioned and pisitioned properly. Hopped back in truck and started to move forward - got 2 feet and saw in sideview mirror that several chains had broken off onset I installed on driver's side rear wheel. The cables snapped from the termination blocks. piece of crap that failed the first time I required it. Sure glad I wasn't stuck on some mountain road. Going back to tried and real chain style.

I have always had 4 wheel drives up until this year. So, I purchased these just in case. I had just place them in my truck and what do you know? An ice storm hit while I was at work. By the time I hit the road, ice was falling. My Ford 150 was doing beautiful well, as a lot of other vehicles and trucks, 4 Wheel drives included, were in ditches, and there were accidents everywhere. One mile from my house however, my amazing luck ended. There was a very huge hill, and it was seemingly impossible to climb. I was stuck halfway from the top and could go neither forward nor backwards! I could only go sideways towards a huge ditch. When I stepped out to place on the cables, it was literally like ice skating. I had to keep on to the truck to move around and was stuck right in the middle of the road. I place the cables on. I had no idea what would happen next. Would they work? Would they stay on? Who knew? What happened? I simply drove off. Went right up the hill, down the next, stopped at the stop sign at the bottom of a steep decline, and pulled into my driveway. Just like that. Amazing! I will repeat what others have said: read the directions. Test to place them on when you are not in an emergency situation. Have something for your knees. Amazing product!

Hands down the best snow cables I've owned. The only caveat is that they do seem to come "tangled" by the manufacturer packaging. I read that before in some of the other reviews and it did take me about 10 mins to untangle them the first time. I would highly recommend taking them out of the box and installing one (or both) before you are in the snow. That being said, they are very simple to install, and the thing I like most is that you do not have to lay them out and drive your car over them to install. You can install them without moving your car! Trust me, not having to obtain back in your vehicle (and knocking the slush and snow off your boots, or taking them off so you don't obtain it all over the floor board) and moving forward 2-3 feet then installing the chains and getting back in the vehicle (and knocking the slush and snow off your boots, or taking them off so you don't obtain it all over the floor board) a second time is nice! They fit perfect, remain "tight" and don't create excessive noise. Amazon said these do not fit my 2017 Honda Pilot 245/60R18, but the manufacturer and my owner's manual both recommend ZT735, and they I can confirm that they indeed do.

I think I could have used one size larger than recommended by their chart. I only used them on a wet snow covered dirt and gravel road. They provide perfect traction and will dig in. They are simple to install and remove , although quicker the third or forth time use them. Place them on before you need them, it is more difficult after you have dug in a bit with the tires. When you remove them drive forward or backward to place the chain in the same position that you attached them. then remove the connections lay the chain on the ground and you will probably have to drive a bit to pick up the chain. I have not driven with them on a hard surface like concrete or asphalt except to install or remove them. I do think I will be buying another set for my front tires. Even though my truck is a 2 wheel drive the chains on the front will help in braking and steering traction very much required when driving down hill.

I've place on the old style chains years ago, so was blown away with the simplicity of these cables. In a snow storm in Mammoth, Ca when the AWD couldn't even obtain out of the driveway. Took about 15 mins to clear away snow and with a bit of tugging the cables were on. I only place them on the front wheels, but that's all it took. We were out of the driveway in no time and headed down the road. They ride much smoother than the old chains did and it was simple to remove when we hit plowed begin road. My daughter who helped me place them on said she used them again latest week and it only took her about 10 mins to obtain them on. She does hang them up inside to dry out before putting them away. It is a tight fit putting them back in the box, but nothing that bad. I don't know how they will do with long term use, but for the few times we've required them they have worked great.

So we recently got a Honda Oddysey and were about to head to the Sequoias for a mountain adventure in the middle of March, so we were expecting some serious snow. After reading some of the other reviews and comparing between the others, SCC seemed like the best to go with. Well, we were NOT disappointed! I tried them on before we left and it seemed to do ok on the asphalt, but definitely felt the bumpiness as expected. Quick forward to checking in to the first ranger station where chains were required, in the middle of a snow storm, and I had them on in 10 minutes (quicker than any of the other vehicles around us). I immediately felt them grabbing into the ice/snow on the roads, which turned out Odyssey into an all-terrain vehicle! In all seriousness, we had to obtain an escort to our lodge due to the snow storm, and we were out-performing the all-wheel drive cars in our convoy. It was amazing to have these cables as well, as the transition between the asphalt streets and snow covered streets throughout the trip created it very simple for driving. I would highly recommend these cables for any vehicle, just create sure you check the SCC recommended sizes and not what Amazon recommends for your vehicle, as it seems to differ quite a bit.

Security Chain Company SZ143 Super Z6 Cable Tire Chain for Passenger Cars, Pickups, and SUVs - Set of 2 review []  2020-1-9 19:8

There are a confusing array of tire chains/traction control devices on the market, and even this particular company makes so a lot of various models that it's hard to tell which ones are the best. Here's what you need to know about chains and traction control devices, and why I like the ones created by SCC. I also contain some installation tips at the bottom of this ere are two broad types of traction control devices: Tire chains and traction control cables. Tire chains are actual chain links. Traction control cables are long pieces of metal cables, covered in a plastic coating, and designed to form a Z-pattern over your tires. The plastic coating is then surrounded by hundreds of tiny, round, metal springs. Cables are generally regarded as better because they are easier to install, latest longer, are less damaging to roads, and work better with cars equipped with ABS. Also, according to SCC, you can safely drive with cable devices up to 30 mph, even on streets with no snow, without damaging should normally install traction control cables on your drive wheels, i.e. the wheels that actually push or pull your vehicle forward. If the snow is really bad, though, you may have to install cables on all four wheels. Read your vehicle's owner's manual for more info on where to install your any case, it's a really, really amazing idea to have TWO sets of cables in your vehicle at all times. That way, if something breaks (murphy's law), you won't be stuck.Within the traction control cable category, there are two general types of cables: Self-tensioning cables tighten themselves using a tensioner (which looks, feels, and operates like a rubber band) that you install when you place the cables on. Manual tensioning cables are tightened by you, and have to be re-tightened after you drive for a couple hundred feet or so. I've heard that emergency cars tend to use the manually adjustable models because they are allegedly safer at speeds above 30 MPH, but driving above 30 MPH for any non-emergency personnel is illegal with any kind of traction control ere are several advantages to the manually adjustable models. They tend to have more slack, which can create installation easier. Also, the tensioners (i.e. rubber bands) on self-adjusting cables can and do break (it happened to me today) and if they break, you can't use the cables. So, if you obtain a cable that has a tensioner, obtain additional tensioners, or better yet, an additional set of cables, just in 's a breakdown of SCC's cable products:Z-Chain- Manually adjustable Traction Control Cable. Simple to install, but must be retightened shortly after you begin driving. Very simple to install because they come with lots of slack. Often used by police and fire ur Grip Z/Super Z LT- Self adjusting cable. Tensioners can break so buy extras. Less slack, so can be harder to place on the car, but generally easier than Z-chains because you don't have to manually tighten and re-tighten per Z6/Z8- Newest Self adjusting cable, designed for cars with very small sidewall clearance. They have all the advantages and disadvantages of the Shur Grip Z. In addition, however, the connectors are a small harder to work with on this model because of their low e Z6 and Z8 models are SCC's recent models. They are designed to handle smaller clearances between the side of the tire and the vehicle than their older models. As a effect of that design, they are hand crimped during the manufacturing process (instead of machine crimped), and that results in a slightly higher MSRP. SCC's representative tells me that the cable size and metal springs are the same size as their other cable-based products, and so the only reason to not to obtain the Z6's over the older models (Super Z's) is that the Z6's are slightly more expensive (usually only a few dollars). I've noticed that the Z6 connectors are a small harder to work with than the Shur Grip/Super Z LT model. On all of these models, the metal rings are created of a spring-like material, SCC says that you don't have to remove the chains as soon as you reach a paved road. Rather, as long as you drive under 30 MPH, SCC says that you can drive with the traction control cables on your car, even as you switch between plowed and non-plowed roads. Because each of the hundreds of small springs are separate pieces, even when one breaks, it just falls off, and the others work to fill-in the e Z6/Z8 models also come with a very nice cloth bag that is sized properly to keep the cables. The older cable-based SCC models come with plastic containers that are too little to easily lay the cables stalling the cables is relatively easy, and I'm definitely not a hands-on kind of guy. It took me about 15 mins the very first time, and now that I've done it several times, I can obtain it done in under a min per wheel. SCC has a video on their web-site that explains how to do it. You should always do a test-installation of cables before you need them to create sure that you purchased the correct size and know how to install it. It's also very useful to have some waterproof gloves handy and a towel with you, as it is often wet and cold when you need to install chains. A amazing choice for gloves are the long wristed rubber gloves that you can buy at the grocery shop for washing dishes, or some disposal latex gloves. After you use the cables for the first time, fold each cable separately and then use a trash bag tie to hold each one together. Otherwise, the next time you need them, they'll all be tangled are some tips on how to install these chains.1. Read the instructions from the manufacturer and pay close attention to the safety instructions. The basics of the instructions are (1) stay safe, (2) position the cables correctly, (3) connect the upper rear connector, (4) connect the upper front connector, (5) connect the lower front connector, and (6) connect the black rubber e instructions are quite good, but they leave out a few helpful hints, which I will now share with FORE YOU START, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT SIDE UP! There are markings all over the cables which indicate the correct orientation. Look for them!2. Place on some rubber dishwashing gloves and lay a towel down wherever you're going to work, or you will obtain very, very dirty.3. When you slide the cables under your tires, begin from a point between your front and rear tires. Slide half of the chain under your car, and then reach around from the other side of the tire to pull the cable around. Although the instructions describe a swinging slide motion, I've never seen anyone who could do that without twisting the cables up. Just pull them and things will be much easier.4. Once the cables are around the tire, DO NOT pull the bottom connectors that keep the cables together at the bottom of the tire towards one another. Hold them as far apart as possible. If you pull them in tight, you won't be able to pull the chain high enough in the back to connect the rear upper connector, which is what you are supposed to do first.5. When you are connecting the rear upper connector, if you can't obtain the rear upper connectors up above the tire so that you can see them, push the part of the cables that surround the bottom of your tire backwards and under your vehicle a few inches. This will make slack behind the cables and let you to pull the cables up in the back.6. Once you have the rear upper connector connected, hooking up the front upper connector may be difficult. Test pushing the rear upper connector back so that it is laying versus the inside sidewall of your tire and then pull the front upper connectors towards you as hard as you can. Don't test to pull them towards each other. While sitting, just pull them straight out, towards you, and the rest of the chains should fall into place. Then they should be simple to connect.7. Gently pull the parts of the chain that criss-cross your tires down towards the ground so that they aren't all bunched up at the top. Look at the chain and create sure that the parts you can see, and especially the blue cable, is evenly distributed around the tire.8. Then pull the bottom front connectors towards you (out, but not up or down) to make slack. Then connect them. Again, don't test to pull them towards one another as that makes it almost impossible to make slack.9. On these particular cables, the upper front connector is BLACK and the bottom front connector is SILVER. When you're ready to take the cables off, if you obtain the wheel lined up so that the BLACK connector is on the top, it will be much easier to search and remove the rear connector (which will be opposite the black connector).

My 06 Outback's owners manual says to never run chains. However, in California, you are by law needed to carry chains in mountain/snowy areas. I don't wish a ticket for failing to carry chains, so I'm left in an awkward position where California law requires I carry chains on a car that tells me to not run chains.I emailed Peerless chain company, and they told me they cannot recommend any set of chains for my specific car, because if the owner's manual says I cannot use chains, they do not wish to transfer that liability to them. However, they mentioned that the Super Z6 chains require the least amount of side clearance of any of their chain models (6mm).So I purchased the SZ139's (which are listed as a match for my vehicle and the 225/55-17 tire). Turning clearance is fine, the largest problem is how close the chains obtain to the strut and the brake line on the inside of the wheel. I didn't drive the vehicle with the chains on at all - just installed them and lifted the vehicle up to inspect them, so there's a possibility the rubber tensioner would have helped pull the chains away from the brake line & strut. Who knows. I hope to never need them.

Car and tire size: 2015 Honda CR-V Touring with P225/60R18 tires (stock size tire on the Touring model).NOTE II: Be sure to FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and use some sort of WD40 type product to spray down the used and dried snow cables to minimize rust. Duh!NOTE: This Amazon www service does NOT correctly ID tire cable size (SZ429) as a fit for my vehicle. However, after speaking to Steve at Security Chain Co. (SCC) for the best fit, he confirmed that the SZ429 model was the right one if I wanted low profile snow cables. His verbal matched my findings through the provided SCC tire fitment tutorial pdf link found within every SCC listed snow chain/cables offering here on Amazon.I took his confirming word, ordered on a Wednesday morning for a Friday delivery using Prime 2 day shipping. Item arrived on time and off we went Friday night in our (relatively) fresh Honda CRV to Sequoia NP where up to 6 inches of a snow was expected the next day.I own and use SCC snow cables on my '04 Dodge Durango SLT so I know how much easier these cables are to place on vs standard snow chains that I used to war with in my younger days on a lot of various tire is fresh set didn't dissapoint on use #1 that covered about 100 miles of snow/ice covered national park paved streets and not so paved back roads. They held up just fine, as expected from SCC, without any of the negative things that other reviewers claimed went wrong with their SCC purchase. Incorrect cable size purchase and/or installation error is what I gather affected negative opinions the e installation directions could have been titled, "Snow cable installation for Dummies/Idiots" it was so straight forward. First off, check the actual size of your tires, do not trust Amazon’s car recommendations alone. They do not have the tire size of my Nissan Quest correct, they are 235, not 225. Not knowing any better, I Purchased the 139 size, whereas the cable manufacturer recommends the 143 size. The 139’s have gotten me through several snow trips in Huge Bear and Mammoth, my only complaint being how darn tight and difficult it is to obtain them on. Well, maybe the right size would help... Anyway, after three trips, with mostly snow driving but a amazing portion of driving on bare asphalt, the chains are holding up, with a small bit of rust. some of the cable insulation is worn, but there is no hurt to the cable strands. I do spray corrosion x on them after each trip, but they’re on for days at a time in nasty conditions, so there is still a small rust. All told I am satisfied with their durability, they could be used for several more trips I’m sure. The worst thing that happens is they seem to warp a bit after hard use, so rerolling them or laying them on the ground flat is a challenge. I take amazing care of my gear, but they are kind of a jumbled mess when you’re trying to place them on after a few uses, and of course, you’re never going to be putting them on in amazing conditions.A small more slack in the size sure would create installation quite a bit easier, and it seems that the Shur Grip ver by the same company has an easier installation way to boot. This super z6 ver is extremely thin, but my wheel wells and brakes have plenty of clearance, so I don’t really need the ultra thin profile. The main difference is, to hook these chains on, you need to match up a coin shaped peg with a keyhole shape and turn it sideways to engage... And just turning it sideways is somewhat difficult with cold, Wet gloves on, especially the connectors behind the wheel. I’m quite mechanically inclined, still took me 20 mins to place them on this latest trip. Lots of fussing and swearing was exhibited, but again plenty of blame goes to Amazon for reporting the wrong size and myself for trusting them. Long story short, unless you really need narrow clearance, I’d look at another version. My brother-in-law has the Shur grip version, which has a easy hook connector behind the wheel, and a much easier ferrule connection way in front of the wheel. I’m betting the easier design, on the correct size chains, will create things much quicker in the future.

I have over 30 years’ experience using, applying and driving with chains. I followed the exact instructions on what type to purchase for my vehicle. I double checked it with their www service as well as the Amazon product check information. They fit perfectly. I even did a dry run to check their fit in my driveway. Quick forward to the moment we required them. I was in a heated underground snow free zone when I was able to install them. I had a professional tire chain installer also verify I did it correctly because they were a fresh style. I opened the garage door and drove out on to the snow. Within in 5 mins the driver side had literally broken from the actually steel metal cable and then literally flung off my vehicle in the traffic and a blizzard. I then had to drive to a chain seller in city where I got another set of various chains. I had a professional installer install them and when he removed the other one still on my passenger side he said he'd never seen a cable break like these have ever. It literally tore apart from the manufactured joints rendering them useless in seconds. He said another 5 miles and the passenger side would be next. The quality of these chains are garbage. In addition, god forbid you have to install them when you actually have snow on the ground or ice in your wheel wells or on your tires forget it, you're done. I would have been better off not using chains at all then endangering my family with these.

Took it to Reno. I did not watch the video but paid those on the side of i-80 when we reached placerville. I have a busted shoulder and in a vehicle full of girls. Anyways, quick forward...Stopped by sierraville on the 89 to a hotspring and we removed the chains on the method there since I got tired of only going 30mph. After leaving the hotspring, snow started falling and thought it was the most attractive thing and mesmerizing while driving so me and my companions decided to stop and take pictures. We live in San Francisco. So we obtain back in the vehicle and I step on the accelerator and nothing was happening. We were officially stuck. This is not a very busy road. A couple trucks passed by while looking at our group. A nice gentleman in a Subaru was nice enough to stop and support us as we were struggling to install. He installed the cable in under 3mins each tire and his technique was better than the one on the video. He lives in the zone so he's used to the snow. Us town girls learned how to install and remove as it can obtain costly after a while and you never know when you'll need to install them. So, after 3days of on and off use in the Sierra's/Nevada I can say that this product works as advertised. I found the included tightener works. The plastic gloves not so much, you need leather or thick gloves you don't mind dirtying up. I brought pliers but it was not necessary. As me and my mates are not professional snow cable applicators we thought we did amazing once we figured out how to place them on. Removal was easy. If your not a pro, then assistance is great. When I got back home from the trip I greased it up before storing as it was already getting rusty. After all it's created of steel and was subjected to abuse. Snow, rain, and steel don't really play well with each other. I saw other cars with chains/cable pass me up when I was going 30mph the maximum speed for these cables but I did not wish to risk it. And note that just because you have these cables don't mean you no longer slide and you need a longer stopping distance so just slow it down. Until next season.P.s. I read someone suggesting to pre stretch the rubber tightener. While it might seem like a amazing idea for wimps and lazy folks umm remember that it's called a tightener for a reason.

Never lived in climate where I required chains until recently. I now live in Washington state and decided to take a mini vacation to Leavenworth, WA just prior to Christmas. Had to pass through Snoqualmie pass and one other lesser pass. I chose these chains solely based off reviews, primarily them being better than traditional chains and also ease of installation. I received the chains in 2 days (I love Prime) and did a dry run on our FWD SUV. The first tire took 10 mins following the directions. Once I understood the sequence, the second tire took under 2 minutes. I packed everything back up into the convenient carry case and off into the Cascades we went. Conveniently, a heavy winter storm just dropped 18 inches of snow across Snoqualmie Pass 2 days prior to us going there, and it was still snowing when we went. In the snow/slush on the side of the road, I was able to place these chains on without getting dirty or wet by only wearing gloves. Even more important, i had both wheels done in under 2 mins per wheel. Performance wise, I could only go

Three reasons:1) it FELL OFF. I triple checked the tire size and ensured the chain was installed correctly. I pull over because i was drifting a little, and had to walk a mile back in the snow in oncoming traffic to retrieve it.2) it wrecked my car’s wheel well. Going over 25 mph, the chain makes an poor noise and shredded what was my wheel well. My vehicle has relatively little zone here, so I’m not too mad about this, but still shows poor design.3) it BROKE. on my method back home (going 25 mph with hazards on), one of the chain links snapped and rendered the entire chain useless and unfixable. (i’ll add a image later)

Security Chain Company SZ441 Super Z6 Cable Tire Chain for Passenger Cars, Pickups, and SUVs - Set of 2 review []  2020-1-9 19:8

This review is for the single ladies like me. I think these tire cables are a amazing choice for added snow traction because they do not require you to move your vehicle to install them and they automatically center and tighten as you at being said, I would encourage you to PRACTICE INSTALLING THEM before you need to use them because the installation was harder than I are some tips, based on my experience:1. Carry a pair of work gloves and a towel. The thin plastic gloves included in the box are worthless when it comes to protecting your hands, and you'll likely need to obtain on the ground to install these tire cables correctly.2. Turn each tire at an angle for easier access if you have a front-wheel drive car. My Honda Fit has front-wheel drive and an extremely tight wheel well clearance. If your vehicle has a related set-up, I suggest you begin your engine and turn the steering wheel as far to the right as possible to access the front right tire, then turn the engine off and set the safety brake before installation. Repeat the process for the left side, turning the steering wheel as far to the left as possible when installing the tire cables on the front left tire.3. Rubber tightener is stiff and hard to install when new. If you don't have the important hand and arm strength, begin by connecting the first hook at the 12 o'clock position, then stand-up and place the toe of your boot or shoe inside the rubber band and stretch it toward the ground so you can connect the second hook at the 6 o'clock position. For the remaining hooks, I place my hand inside the rubble tightener with my palm facing out. With the rubber tightener pressing versus my palm and thumb, I place all four of my fingers on the steel wire and gripped my hand into a fist until I could put the remaining hooks on the wire cable at 1.5, 4.5, 7.5 and 10.5 positions. You could also roll your vehicle slightly forward and repeat the "boot stretching technique" if you don't have enough hand/arm strength to attach the remaining clips.4. Getting the tire cables back into the box. Gads! These cables nearly pop out of the box when you begin it, but are nearly impossible to obtain back in. I had problem doing this outside, so I eventually took the tire cables inside where I could wipe them off and straighten them out on my kitchen floor. First, I stacked both cables on top of each other so they were straight and even, then I rolled them so the stiff wires on the left and right edges were rolled as tightly as possible, securing the roll with the provided twist ties. Now, the tire cables looked something like a "Toostie Roll." I placed the center of the "Tootsie Roll" into the box and pressed the outside edges on top of the roll. Now the difficult part: I held his springy pile in put with one hand whileI stuffed the rubber tightener on top and forced the lid closed... Ha! Not easy, so you might wish to consider storing the tire cables in a cloth shopping bag instead.5. To support prevent rust, dry your tire cables and spray with WD-40, or related lubricant.

I recently moved to a state that actually experiences winter. Before this winter, I've never had to worry about driving on snow or ice. I purchased these snow chains based on the previous amazing reviews. These are excellent for a snow newbie - I watched the short video clip that's on the amazon listing, then I replicated it with the chains on my vehicle (1999 Honda CRV). I'm a 5 foot petite woman, and I installed these by myself without any problems or assistance. I felt very safe driving with these chains. I drove on them for a week, and when I removed and inspected them, there were no breaks in the chains at all. After drying and lubricating the chains, they are ready for the next snow storm! All in all: simple on, simple off, no assistance needed.

They work beautiful well without driving over them which is amazing 4 side of the street or waking up to ice with no room on driveway but downhill. 😳Please remember that cashmere doesnt like petroleum and whatever else is around the backside of your tire. Even if your sleeves r tucked into your jacket, or gloves are being worn, by the time uve created that latest leap of a stretch to reach to hook the inside, your shirt sleeves will likely have breached contact with tire treads or wheelhub. Please package work gloves. Your hands will be additional vulnerable to cuts and infections when the skin is freezing and dried out. You don't wish oil all over your steering well, etc afterwards. You dont wany oil on your snowgloves, becuase u will then search oil all over your face and goggles by the time u obtain off your first slope.*you must search out which side is the drive side of your car...not so simple to google after all, and it's not just equatable to the side tow trucks tow from. WRITE the side down on your chain box. U will need to search out later in a hurry, particularly when there is no reception, and u might forget from the one time u did it several years ago. If it makes a clunking sound as u drive, it's probably on the wrong side. Hold your windows down for noise, the first min at a low speed, if u havent yet written it ware of random plastic bags and red tie-ties blowing away into nature if u have not yet recycled them upon initial unboxing. Dont hold in plastic, it will only keep them in their own street moisture longer. Allow them air dry in provided, airy says it's not a poor idea to rinse them off, dry them, and oil them with wd-40 or the like. I'm going to obtain in the habbit of doing that at the end of the season so they stay oiled over summer.

I bought the chains, this is a private review. Did the trial install in the driveway today and I got the chains on first try. Seriously, I am not powerful and I have never done this before, was beautiful sure I wouldn't be able to manage this and they went right on. Didn't think I would be able to obtain the tensioners secured but following the top to bottom, side to side way I managed it. Our latest chains were $25 cheaper, were a nightmare to line up and obtain on, and then in and out of the vehicle trying to secure the tension. I can't wait to see the husband's face when I place the chains on next trip! Then it goes back to being his job :)Will post images after first snow.

Following the chart, I ordered size SZ335 for my 2016 Honda HR-V. The cables fit the stock wheel/tire setup perfectly. Super simple to install; it took me about five mins to install one as a try in the driveway (after watching the video). Note that depending on your wheel/tire setup, the metal brackets may overlap with the edge of the alloy rim (the video warns about this). In my case, they overlap a bit with the stock 17" alloy, but there's about 1/2" of air between brackets and the wheel. I am going to glue some rubber pads to the back of them to avoid gouging. Other than that, perfect.I didn't have any problem getting this SZ335 size back in the (yes, small, but sturdy) plastic latch case. Just roll them up and fold them over the method they were arranged when shipped.I bought these for very occasional/emergency use, and for the price, I'm happy. If I lived in an zone where I expected to use chains or cables regularly, I might spring for something like the (super expensive) Thule units.

First time using on my fresh front wheel drive mini-van (I have always owned a 4wheel drive car) they worked great. I decided to go up to Tahoe, at night, in a blizzard with a lot of streets closed. I didn't die. My family didn't die. We didn't create it to the cabin but we did create it to the Hyatt and ended up having a blast for the trip. I seriously couldn't have done it without these.I practiced one time putting them on before the trip. I was able to place them on, while on the side of the road, in a begin of a snow storm in under 10 mins (which included time to test to warm my fingers up).Would recommend 100% amazing product. Simple to use, simple to install and simple to take off.

Bought these to use on our 2014 Ford Focus SE 5 door hatchback. They work great! We used them on the packed snow/ice covered interstate and on heavily snow covered side streets and they kept us going. Hold in mind the manufacturer limits the speed you should drive when you use these so don't plan on flying down the expressway at normal speeds. They are fairly simple to install but I would strongly suggest doing a practice install on dry pavement in your driveway or parking lot before you have to use these on a snowy roadside in the mountains! If you are using these on a car with a minimal amount of clearance between the tire and wheel well, like our Focus, I would suggest carrying a overcoat and thin profile work gloves to install the chains because to hook the back link on the chain you really have to wedge your hands and forearms between the tire and wheel well both of which will be covered with snow/ice and street salt. I would also suggest carrying an old blanket or huge towel to kneel on when you install these so you don't obtain your pants messed up. I would also suggest carrying a stand up style flashlight in case you are installing or removing these in darkness or not good lighting conditions, the additional light really helps. One more thing, don't be worried if the installed chains seems uneven when you install it, they quickly self align on the tire once you begin moving.

I learned how to install them after 15 mins of struggling. It's still a small confusing, but not terrible. I place them on the rear wheels of my Ford Ranger. It does really well in snow with them on (and not good without)A few times I had to drive through a little plow pile, like when the plow crossed my driveway and leaves a foot of packed snow across it. Both times I created it through the pile, but one of the chains popped off. (no hurt done) The first time, I tried to hold driving with one. I tried to go up a steep hill with 4" of snow on top of ice. I could't do it. I could tell just how much it gripped when I hit the breaks and my truck slid backwards on the side without the chain. the chained tire stayed put. I backed down the hill, place on the second chain and went up no problem. Overall I am very greatful for them for the security and I think they are well worth the cost.

Simple to place on and take off while on the street in snowy is set fits my fresh (to me) ‘15 Honda CR-V and they worked amazing - I’ve had this same brand of cords for my ‘03 Tahoe and they have lasted a lot of years using them once or twice a year at Mammoth - I’ve bought 2 sets in 15 years and my second set are still in amazing shape. Just dry them thoroughly with an old towel after each use before storing them to prevent them from getting rusty. I hold mine in a massive duty canvas bag along with a pair of old ski gloves (since it’s always snowing when you place them on).You won’t need to move your vehicle at all or lay on the ground once you learn the “TRICK” of swinging the V shaped sheet of cords underneath the vehicle around the tire so they are easily fastened from the front on the top inside wheel well, then top outside then bottom outside (pay attention to the direction of the metal clips keeping the correct side versus the tire). Hook the yellow clips on the bungee sincher to the cables always starting at the top then diagonally across to the bottom (gives you downward leverage - much easier than lifting up) then the 3rd clip at 10:30, 4th at 4:30, 5th at 1:30, 6th at 7:30 as you face the front of the tire.I can do it by myself without laying on the ground and getting all dirty, as quick as the guys on the side of the street who charge $30 and I’m a girl! I’ve taught my teenage daughters to do it as well!

You would think that a manufacturer of safety products such as tire chains would be particularly careful in inspecting its product quality. I bought the snow chains in anticipation of going up to the mountains to ski. The chains arrived in a brand fresh box and off I went with my family, thinking that we were in safe hands in case the streets got icy. When I finally opened the box on the road, I found to my surprise that one of the metal connector clasps was bent to the point that the chains couldn't be installed on one of my vehicle tires. So there I was, stuck on an icy mountain with unusable snow chains. Simply please check the quality of the chains before you need them... because apparently the manufacturer doesn't!

Ordered the navy; it arrived in several pieces. Also one of the gold-tone clasps wouldn't even stay closed. If it had arrived intact, I would have had to change out the clasps, they looked very cheap and clearly didn't work well. The plastic links were cute, and it would have been a amazing alternative purse handle.
