Was trying to locate a bike rack for my son - who's getting more serious about cycling. Looked at other racks, but didn't wish a seat post mount if he's going to have ANY weight on his bike. It took about 20 mins to assemble and install (maybe 30 as it was cold in the garage..) - but got it on the bike and the design was fairly flexible to work with several style frames, connections, etc. I would buy again!

A bicycle rack is not rocket science but after I installed this rack I could understand all the care that went into the design and manufacturing of this unit. I was amazed at how every mounting point was designed to adjust to the a lot of bicycle brands. I thought I had an odd one (bike) but the Songmics rack fit perfectly solid. Thank you Songmics, I'll be looking for your brand again.

Once it is done, it is light weight and sturdy. Will not add weight to your bicycle. It IS universal in fit and looks like it would fit most bicycles. It has the hardware for 2 various ways of mounting. I installed it on a Trek FX2 with an XXL frame. But the things that create it 'universal' also create it a pain in the butt to install. Lots of small pieces and you have to leave everything loose and place it on then tighten everything. BE PATIENT! BUT! It is inexpensive, looks like amazing quality, light weight and looks amazing when you are done. The only thing it doesn't have in the box? Patience...

Amazing price for a very well made, massive steel, well designed, flexible attachment rear bike carrier. All bolts, nuts, washers, tools were included. Also to my surprise, the pack contained a required U-bracket for the frame behind the seat that was required for our bike that does not have welded threaded attachments. Pack also had the correct size metric short bolts for mounting the bottom at the axle frame. And these bolts had thread sealer on the threads indicating a well thought out installation. Very sturdy. Be flexible when you mount parts to the huge flat carrier. Our regular size 26" tires had zone to mount the side pieces inside the bracket instead of outside as indicated on the instructions.

I appreciate how adjustable this rack is. you can adjust the height by the tire hub and you can adjust the angle of where to attach either under your seat or on the frame below your order for me to create that much zone between the rack and my tire, I did have to go out and obtain an extender. It took a lot of redoing but it was very simple to assemble and figure out how to create it work for my is rear rack is Waaay better than my old one. My old rack didn't even give me an inch of zone from my tire which was annoying when I would strap my bag down with bungee cords. the cords would rub versus the tire while I was ere’s even the right amount of zone for my seat pack👍🏼

I added this to my ‘93 Rockhopper for a latest weekend ride to a B&B with the wife. Installation can be tricky, as you have to hold everything loose while attaching it to the frame so as to be able to line it up and zone it properly. It took me about 30 minutes solo, but an additional pair of hands would have expedited that looks amazing and it serves its intended purpose well.

The nut on the seat boom adjustors is a 10mm. If you have a 10MM socket and extender this will be your not place the extendable booms on the inside of the rack, if you do, your tire probably won't clear. You have to have them on the outside (the slidey parts. I would also recommend reversing the bolt on these too, so the nut is on the outside. Otherwise you are trying to tighten the nut from behind, and the small wrench they give you does not have much in the method of s beautiful finicky overall to assemble because most bike racks are welded everywhere except the contact points on the frame. This one is not. So, the sides have to be place on, three bolts on either side, for example. Im not sure why they went this method rather than just welding it, because there is no adjustment for the sides of the rack at the top contact points, just at the bottom where it connects to your rear triangle. You are juggling half assembled, loosely nutted pieces around until you finally obtain it adjusted to fit, then you have to tighten it all in cramped space. If I were you, assemble the arms for the sides and tighten them first, it will create the rest of the rack a lot less floppy and you'll have less to tighten when you are done.

Amazing bike rack, super simple to assemble, and amazing price. Very excited to now have somewhere to secure my bag on my route to work and the gym. As per the picture, I did have to flip around the one mounting bracket due to where my back break is positioned, but even flipped around it secured fine, almost as if it is meant to go either way. Highly recommend this product!

I liked that design of this product. Despite receiving the first pack with missing critical components, I awaited the arrival of the replacement, which came within 4 days. It took awhile to sort out the pieces and how they should go onto the bike. I installed and used it within 3 days after arrival and installation, which was about 5 weeks ago. Since then, I've ridden over a hundred miles through mild rain, snow falls and near freezing temperatures and it held up well...until this past weekend. The bracket which attaches the rack to the seat-stay connector, behind the seat tube, broke in half. This disconnected the wires between the lithium battery package sitting on the rack and the controller, which hung from the top down tube of my MTB. Fortunately, I had a bungee cord available to hold the rack and battery unit strapped to the seat-tube and was able to re-connect the battery wires and powered the remaining 5 miles home at 28MPH. It was 8pm, 45 F and overcast. Could have been worse. The advertisement says it can keep up to 55-lbs. My battery unit configuration was not even 20-lbs. Now I have to come up with a method to reattach it. Disappointed.

First pack arrived without any hardware, tools or silver arms, and was returned. The second one was complete, really well thought-out, very impressive in it's versatility. It appears to be very amazing quality, too. Install was simple and fun. The only problem that lowered my rating to 4 stars is that the nut on the right side of the bike was too close to the sprockets (see photo) and interfered with gear shifts, so i replaced the nut and bolt with a zip tie for now; I need to search something very slim but powerful that will secure the rack to the bike but won't interfere with the gears.

The fast lock attachments create the difference. Look this is a four star rack that gets an additional star for adding fast locks to the frame posts. Is it worth the additional ten bucks over the otherwise identical racks... definitely. You have to understand, there are three nuts and bolts that attach this type of rack to the bike frame. Street vibrations alone guarantee that you are going to have to regularly tighten them. And they don't use locking bolts, so you have to obtain out a wrench and driver to tighten them. That is six tightenings in awkward spots just to hold the bottom half of these racks from coming apart over time. With the fast locks, just give them a twist every few rides and you are good. The fender may seem cheesy, but these are handy if you ride on wet pavement.

Normally I search RockBros brand bike accessories to be reliable and amazing quality, thus the reason why I bought this for the most part. However, sometimes you have losers and some winners and this one turned out to be a loser. What's wrong with it? Well, it swings to the left and right under certain weight and the side bars will end up dragging on the tire. I was testing it with about 140lbs and while it worked fine, the moment I took a turn on my bike, it would shift to one side, causing the side bars that clamp to the seatstay (part of frame of the bike that connects the seat post to the rear tire hub), to rub versus the tire... which ended up acting like a tire break, causing the bike to slow down or stop. No matter how tight I created the bolts and clamps, it would still sically this product has a horrible faulty design where under a higher weight limit, but not exceeding it's suggested limit, causes it to shift. It's basically useless, so I returned it.--- UPDATE ---I knocked off another star due to poor customer help feedback. If you look, I got a "canned message". Meaning, it's the typical generic response that others got. In other words, they honestly don't care enough about their product to properly respond. I found this insulting. I will now stay away from any RockBros branded products.

There's a reason there's no warranty listed on here. Because they know that their products will fail e weight limit of 110-165Lbs is a lie. The welds broke on my under a 20Lbs load, then the entire thing broke at the mounting point. 1/8.5th is a lot of people have to have problems with a product before Amazon stops being lazy and does something about it?Manufacturers or sellers offering discounts for amazing reviews is also something that should be illegal. You're paying people to lie on your behalf, purely so you can screw over more people in the long ay away from RockBros products. They're not worth the time or cash it takes to deal with them.

First "NO FRIGGING INSTRUCTIONS" Not that I always follow them but amazing to have when things go wrong! Came as a bundle of parts in a box. Next if you do not have mechanical skills and tools this will be hard using the tools provided. Install without tightening hardware so you can create adjustments. Suggest a level (I prefer level) and something to measure placement so both side struts are symmetrical. Be careful to understand the strut lock screws go through the outside tube to tighten on the inside tube. Now the amazing parts "SELF LOCKING HARDWARE" Nice finish and seems to be sturdy. Doesn't create the bike look cheap!! If nothing is added to this review then the rack created the 240 mile journey on the Katy trail carrying saddle bags filled with my crap.

A number of folks stated that it was difficult to install...do NOT tighten things down until you have it worked out to fit. Then tighten things and it was a beautiful simple install. One thing though is that the latest thing was putting on the rear reflector, need to do that first as getting in on after is a true pain.Looks amazing and very solid.

As others have mentioned, I found the set-up of this rack to be a bit finicky. I found myself starting and stopping installation several times. While I thought I would appreciate the flexibility of having a rack of this type that could be easily installed or removed... each fast mount is just a fail-point waiting to happen. These fast mounts can easily become loose and should be constantly monitored and checked before every ride, and during longer rides.I used this rack on a 25 mile gravel trail ride, and it seemed to keep up just er, on another outing while riding up and down the hills of San Francisco, I noticed some bike performance problems and heard some "clicking" that sounded like it was coming from the gears. When I pulled over I discovered that one of the lower mounting clips had come loose, and that leg of the rack was completely separated from the bike. The clip [email protected]#$%!&ing the spokes of my tires, and I am very fortunate that it didn't obtain caught in the wheel causing a catastrophic failure/crash. Each mounting point requires a rubber shunt in order to maintain tightening... but the rubber shunt is not attached to anything, and and long disappeared by the time I discovered the issue. I was able to obtain the rack attached back to to bike, but without the rubber shunt it had to be monitored, and would not stay tight. I had to re-tighten it several times. Once I got home, I used a piece of rubber to fashion a fresh shunt.. and now I hold that additional "rubber" in my bag next to my spare tire...just in-case I experience this problem ter several rides, tightening and securing this rack...I have found that it just doesn't stay very tight or secure. The rack needs constant monitoring and adjustment. the pannier racks also seem short and may contribute to issues with traditional pannier bags. The reflector that comes with this rack basically just sits on a "hook" on the back of the rack. It does not stay mounted, and falls off easily. there also doesn't seem to be a method to attach a rear reflector or light to this mounting point, which seems like a glaring design failure. I mean...sure there are other locations that I could attach my light on a bag...or higher on the rack.. but the put that the reflector attaches to would be the ideal location. When I purchased this rack...I thought it would be preferable to those that need hard-point attachments. For those bikes that don't have "hard-points" for attachments... This might be your only option... but for me...I'm a bit disappointed, and while I'm not planning on returning it, I would not recommend this rack to those considering purchase. Fortunately...It was not too expensive... but I will be looking elsewhere for a fresh rack in the not too distant future.

It works great. Installation was simple on my old mountain bike. The key to install is to obtain the whole rack assembled and mounted before tightening it all down. I want they had created an accommodation for a taillights on the back. I had to fabricate a piece of pipe for a taillight mount.

First and foremost- this product works. It does exactly what it says it does in exactly the manner it claims to. It contains all the nuts, bolts, washers and tools to obtain the job done and a barebones visual tutorial to assembly.I place things together and took them apart three or four times in the conduct of assembling this rack. To save you some time, place the pannier racks on last, the swing arm goes on the OUTSIDE of the rack body (as do the pannier racks) or things don't align right and take your lining things up and tighten things progressively as you adjust them for length, fit and angle. First setup took me probably 2 hours to obtain everything on correctly, balanced, straight and optimally 's worth the time to obtain it dialed in because now all I have to do is break the handles loose and unscrew the bolt to take it off and screw the bolt down and tighten then handle to attach it. Fast detach and fast attach, as advertised. Once you build the rack, you don't have to do any disassembly or readjustment to place it back on, simply wrap the mounting clamps around the frame and tighten them down. They contain rubber gaskets (I imagine to a) protect your paint b) reduce potential vibration and c) prevent frame hurt from overtightening) but if you aren't overtightening the bolts they're optional. Especially given what a pain they are to hold properly aligned in the clamp while is is a useful feature, given that you're going to wish to take this thing off when not in use. It's close to three pounds. That doesn't sound like a lot but weight distribution on a bike is everything and that 3 pounds is more than 10% of the weight of my bike focused on the rear of the bike that I have to pull behind me. There are lighter, more expensive options that I may pursue in the future, especially since I have proper rack mount points on my frame, but this suits my current needs and is an absolute champion if you need a rack but don't have mounting points on your frame.4 stars overall. You're getting exactly what you paid for and the price point you paid with this rack. Additional points for the company responding quickly to a issue I thought I had (but was really just a misunderstanding on my part).

Looks great. It took some elbow grease though.Poor build quality. Some bolts were far too hard to screw in and the paint was scraped before shipping. Clips don't let enough adjustment because they screw directly into the clamp instead of a nut on the other end of the clamp. The main clip was not the right size to fit around the gastgets and the seat tube; only the seat tube alone would fit. The reflector wouldn't even fit on properly.

Swagman Chinook Hitch Bike Rack for Car (1-1/4" and 2" Receiver) - 2 Bicycle Carrier - Inclinable Rack for Easy Back Access - Rear Car Bike Rack Hitch []  2020-1-9 19:12

There is one flaw in the design of this rack that the older generation should pay attention to! I purchased this rack based on all the amazing reviews. That center vertical bar that the two racheting locking U bars move up and down is my issue. Removing the bike on the rack closest to your car requires stretching out and lifting the bike out at an awkward angle. If you have any back problems think about that first! The build quality is very amazing as other reviews have mentioned. If I was younger than I am now (62) this would be a non issue, and a amazing purchase. I am sticking to the traditional hitch mounted rack that stowes bikes all in a row. You lift straight up and load your bike on (not reaching out) using your knees as we all know we are supposed to do. It came down to loading and unloading ergonomics for my wife and I. Look at the customer pics again...if your alone and in my age group loading that rear bike might not be ideal.

My only complaint (and this is something I should've thought about before I purchased it) is that it does rub versus the frame of your bike. We went on a 3 day camping trip and had to drive 4 hours with our bikes on the rack and as soon as we unloaded the bikes I saw that the paint on my bike frame had been worn off. No bueno. Everything else has been amazing - but that is a beautiful serious flaw. I want I would've purchased a bike rack with the bars that slide down over the tires instead of the frame.

This was bought 1 month before a 7,000 mile street trip with it on the back of my 2016 Subaru Forester. I waited to review until after the trip to give it a small more s:-Half the cost of a Thule-After assembly, it can be removed or installed in one minute-Holds bikes securely with locks (included) on the hitch and on each bike-Tilts out of the method to access the rear hatch of the car.-Folds up close to the vehicle when no bikes are mounted. It is so compact, that I don't remove the carrier when the bikes are not mounted.-When folded it does not block my back-up camera. (I found that the red markers in the camera aligned perfectly with the back of the folded rack.)-With one bike in place, the back-up camera is still usable. (The yellow markers in the camera aligned perfectly with the back of the bikes when in use)-Carrier fits very securely in the vehicle ns:-With the vertical bar raised, it is a small awkward to mound a bike between the bar and the car.-Release pins for folding the carrier do not have self lubricating bushings. After a few days in wind, rain, and sun, I had to lubricate the pins because they did not snap back in place.. (Fortunately 3-in-1 oil was available at one stop on the route.)-Pads on the tire straps are a small fiddly if you change bikes with various tire sizes.-The carrier tilt mechanism is not as tight as I would like and there is some minor rocking of the bikes on bumpy :-Keep a wrench in the vehicle to remove the hitch (1 minute) so you can take the vehicle through a vehicle wash.-Mount the smallest bike nearest the car.-Tilt the bike rack out when installing the inner bike. It is easier to lift the bike into put without the locking hook in your way-Pay attention to which method your bikes face. For my bikes, if the inner bike faced left and the outer right, I could not easily access the inner bike lock. Facing the other way, both locks were easily accessible.-When ratcheting the hooks, roll the bikes forward and back while pressing down on the hook. This will ensure that the bikes are mounted tightly.-Put a small oil on the tilt lock pins before using the first time.-Insert the wheel straps into the strap latches 1" when no bikes are mounted.I ped hard and compared several carriers prior to buying this one. My requirements were:-It carries the bikes supported under the wheels.-It could be tilted for trunk access, with the bikes in place.-It was lockable (both at the bike and the hitch)-It was sturdy-It was reasonably pricedThe Swagman carrier accomplished all of my goals.

First of, this is platform rack isn't obstructive unlike other 2-bike platform racks. Except for the strap, this is all-metal. So you don't have to worry about something would melt when driving during hot season. I bought this rack when I moved from Iowa to Portland, Oregon. I drive a Fiat 500S so every weight counts and this held up beautiful well. I drove for more than 2700 miles with my bikes constantly on it with speeds above 80miles on I-90 and there was minimal sway/so, this easily converts to 1-bike rack... just don't install the 2nd pair of cradle.I am glad I didn't spend $500 on bulky bike racks like Yakima's or Thule's.

I got this due to amazing reviews and required a fresh bike rack.Swagman Chinook is installed on my Jeep's 2 inch receiver and the set up was quick and easy. It looks amazing and my bikes fit perfectly, I just loved the method my bike looks on it and if I create a fast pit stop it feels secure with the top e main reason I am giving it a 3 stars is the wobble, and boy does it wobble. When I first got it, I noticed a bit of a wobble mainly on bumps and sharp turns but yesterday I went for one latest ride before winter fully kicks in and even on smooth street it was wobbling that other vehicles were staying away from me, at one light I had someone comment that it looks like my bike is about to fall off. I pulled off the road, took everything down and tightened it before continuing my drive and still wobbled.

This carrier does everything you will need it to do. If mechanically inclined, this was super simple to assemble. If you're not, it's still very worth the money. It works great! Simple on and simple off. The fold down swivel with bikes loaded is a large plus with an SUV. I expect the plastic parts to latest just as long as the plastic parts on other brand name hitch racks that cost 2-5 times as much. Use the square lock nut provided to tighten the bolt that goes through the receiver and it will not wobble around. IF you use a standard hitch pin here, it will sway a bit from side to side. This is a minor bummer since to do this you need to carry a socket, or box end wrench in addition to the locking key provided. Lastly, it is sound and secure but like other comments, if you fear theft could occur where you are leaving the car parked, it would take someone carrying the right tool, or simply removing the axles to do so. So go ahead and string your own cable lock through the wheels, frame, and the hitch chain loops as a deterrent.

Pros:- Decent quality metal used in the construction. Doesn’t feel like bottom of the line pop steel. Doesn’t look really high grade. But better than what I was expecting.- Wheel seats are created out of metal. Was hard to tell in the pictures. But they are metal.- Nice quality wheel straps and protective rubber bumpers.- Driving down dirt, construction bumpy streets the bikes are held in place.- Protective silicone over the top keep clamps to prevent scratching and sliding in their grasp.- Locking pin hitch included- Locking keep down clamps.- Folds away from back of vehicle to let access to trunk, and looks like most tail gates, and hatchback gates.- Large wheel cradles. You’ll see in my pictures that my 29x2.2 man tires easily fit inside. Looks to fit up to a 2.5-2.8. Maybe a 3.0?? Dozens of room to spare. But they have another small recessed zone for road bikes. Also see picture that keep those tires firmly aswell. Unbelievable thought process went into these. Want I could say the same to the locking ratcheting ns- The ratcheting portion of the clamp that holds the bike in put are plastic??? The lesser model which is almost $80 less uses sturdy steel. Why switch to plastic on this model? (This is the largest reason for 4/5 stars)- The main portion of the rack that allows folding up and away from the vehcicle has about 1/4” of play/wiggle (see video). This can be a amazing and poor thing. The amazing that it won’t obtain stuck from grit and debree with the additional clearance. The poor is I’m worried with 2 massive 29er mtb a on the back that this could cause lots of stress on that mechanism on bumpy streets and could cause it to fail. Swagman seems to have a amazing warranty, but will they replace a $2,000+ bike that just got dropped on the ground?? Probably not. It’s a beautiful stout design so I’m not too worried, but I transport my bicycle every day. So it’ll be place to the test.- Again I know. But this a huge con for me. PLASTIC ratchets. A amazing Chisel and hammer will bust that mechanism in one hit. Don’t trust this as a lock other than having to run in the shop true quick. This seems like an idiotic design flaw going from a powerful dependable steel ratchet on their budget model to plastic. WTH Swagman?????- Won’t fold up into the compact position when empty on my car which is a 98 Saturn SL2. Which means this will not be possible on any S-Series Saturn made. (Heads up to anyone with a Saturn or hitch that’s further back under the bumper)* I will do a 1 month and possibly 6 month review. So far for the price. It’s what you’d expect. All the plastic bits worry me. But it looks and feels like amazing quality ABS plastic. But plastic has a hard time lasting in the Arizona Vally sun. We’ll see 🤷‍♂️

Swagman Chinook Hitch Bike Rack for Car (1-1/4" and 2" Receiver) - 2 Bicycle Carrier - Inclinable Rack for Easy Back Access - Rear Car Bike Rack Hitch []  2020-1-9 19:12

We purchased this bike rack for use with our Curt 1.25 inch trailer hitch I had installed on our 2017 Forester. The main male portion of the rack is 1.25 inches so it fit perfectly into our hitch however the rack does come with a 2 inch adapter installed that is a piece of cake to remove (just unscrew the screw which holds it in place). I would highly recommend to assemble the rack when in is threaded into the trailer hitch, it really makes things much easier to assemble and adjust items. I ride a 60cm bike and my wife rides a 52cm and I ended up having to swap the arms which keep down the bike frame since the longer arm was originally in the back and the shorter arm in the front of the rack. I wanted to have the biggest bike closest to the vehicle with my wife's smaller frame in the outer position. Reading the instructions, it states one wants to have the arms rest on the top tube closest to the seat frame so after some back and forth positioning/readjusting the wheel holders, I finally got it positioned where it required to be.I would say with the included locking hitch pin and locking arms, this really is a high value bike rack. We took both our bikes on a 500+ mile roundtrip to the beach and back and while there was minimal sway watching the rack in the rearview mirror, overall there were no problems and no scratches on the frames of the bike. I was originally concerned about the arms resting on the top tubes (especially since I have a carbon frame bike) but found no problem after our latest trip. I did also purchase the Kuat Transfer 2 hitch mount rack also (which is a touch more expensive), but ended up returning it since there was much more plastic involved and while the arm was fairly sturdy when clamped down on the front wheel, there was no formal locking mechanism (like this Chinook where you can use the keys to lock the arm down for added security and peace of mind). Overall, while the Swagman Chinook may not victory any awards in the looks category (fairly bare bones), for functionality and value its an ideal bike rack to obtain your bike from point A to point B without issue.

Love this rack. I read a lot of reviews when I decided to buy a hitch mount rack for my car. This was the only one that checked all the boxes on my want list.1 Locks both to the vehicle and the arms lock down to secure the bike, I feel very safe and confident leaving my bike on the rack in public.2 Tilts away from the vehicle so I can obtain in my hatch.3 Folds up versus the vehicle when it's not in use, getting it out of the method and allowing me to leave it on the car. I didn't wish to have to take it off and place it back over and over.4 The ratchet arm doesn't go on the tire, this was a huge one since my bike is a hybrid with fenders that tire securing racks would have damaged.5 Sturdy, doesn't wobble, it feels solid and my bike doesn't bounce around and I have no concern it will "fall out" or something.

I did my research before buying this and im not disappointed. It fitted nicely with my cx-5 and has most of the items i need from a bike s:Very powerful and no visible es with bike locks and raddle free hitch lds towards the vehicle when not lds out of the method for trunk door while you have the bikes on ching hooks has teeth so it wont slip like some other ry versatile.Easy to ns:Not upgradeable to 4 bike rackNot a direct 2inch receiverNot possible to have trailer with it unless you buy those 2inch receiver to two 2inch receivers. On massive side but this might not be an con.Overall I'm very pleased. If you look at others around the same price or lower they all have problems. Such as poor locking mechanism, no bike locks, doesnt fold backwards with bikes on them to begin the lift gate or poor built quality. This one fit the bill while not spending 400$. Highly recommended

This is first review of the hitch and rack after assembling and mounting to the car. Amazing solid construction. Takes abut 30 minute to assemble and install. All materials are solid, no cheap stuff. Bike mounts easily. Solid keep on the bike. Will continue this review after riding around with bikes on the car. Amazing ride, no sway at the hitch junction. Bike is SECURELY mounted to the carrier. As always, I add a safety strap just in case as anything' can happen. Just got back from a 3400 mile trip with two bikes in the carrier. Not a single issue while bouncing on the street from Fl to Ct and back. I highly recommend this rack for the ease of getting bikes on and off and the security. No that I have had if for quite some time, I am very satisfied with it. It is a GOOD IDEA TO MAKE SURE THE CLAIMS ARE TIGHT AND WHEELS ARE IN THE RECEPTACLES. For safety sake, I use a bungee cord on both bikes to create sure nothing happens, The mechanism has holes for a lock to be inserted to prevent theft or use a regular bike lock.

I assembled. Instructions are extremely little print. Place it in my vehicle and it’s very wobbly. I purchased based on reviews but the reviews are wrong. I have attached a video. I do not believe this is save. It wobbles even with my bike on it. I think it would be okay to drive slow on residential streets. I need one for the freeway and there is no method I would drive with this on May vehicle in a Freeway

Wow! ..as a tool guy who also welds and could build one: ... I am Impressed w the design and quality to cost. ...No method for a DIYs to beat this purchase! Very nice sleeve to create rack fit 2" or 1/14" trailer hitch receiver. you do need a trailer hitch on your car to use this rack.I am loading a 62 plus lb fat tire RadRover ebike on my fresh rack. I spread one set of those metal loop tire holders with my vehicle jack (using cardboard to not chip the paint seal) to create the 4" eBike tires fit (pictured). I noticed after purchase the load limit is two 35 lb bicycles. I believe this rack will function properly for me with just my one eBike. I've included a picture of how I use a cross bar on eBike, pipe insulation to protect bike paint job, and both slide down bike holders plus a strap to really secure my fresh eBike to this ride. I take the package off rack when driving my eBike to local Lake Park trail heads.I will remove the 48 volt battery package when heading out on longer rack and then eBike trips..... I had little problem which I called Swagman's Warranty phone number about. ... I found myself impressed with that too! I am a satisfied camper on this purchase.... Plus

First off this bike does a amazing job of holding bikes securely. It's nice that it has a hitch adapter to use on both 1 1/4 and 2" e reason for the 3 star rating is the difficulty to release the keep mechanism. This thing gets jammed up when trying to take the bikes off. My wife who has little hands sometimes cannot obtain it to release by herself, it's very frustrating for her. You have push the button, while applying downward force as well as jiggle it to obtain it to wife has managed to scratch every car it's been on too, it's hard to finagle the inside bike on w/o scratching the car, catching the brake/shift cables and the pedals need to be in the right spot. The center bar kind of is thing is built sturdy and strong, they keep your bikes worry free. If I were to do it again, I'd obtain something that grabs on to the wheel and allows easier placement for the inside bike. I like that it is lightweight and stores compactly. Overall it's hard to beat for the price.

This item has been reviewed a lot and most of what's out there is true. 1.) It's well created and sold at a reasonable price, especially when compared with the bike brands. I checked out all the other similarly priced racks, and this one has the best combination of features: straps to keep bike wheels, anti-wobble pin, ratcheting vertical arms. As others have noted, the raised wheel wells improve ground ere are a few reviews that I think are off base, though. Some have complained about excess sway, and I'm beautiful sure that what's really going on there is that the supplied allen screws and lock washers are not being tightened all the way. You're not going to be able to obtain them tightly fastened using the supplied allen wrench. It's too short to really torque down on it. I found that tightening those down hard (using a pipe or something to obtain more leverage) and using the anti-wobble pin supplied with the rack does the job very cond, there are complaints about the rack not having a locking mechanism. I've been using bike racks for 35 years and have never had one that had a locking mechanism. The things are designed to CARRY bikes, not stop someone from stealing them. Solution? Obtain a cable lock and lock your bike frames to your trailer hitch. If you're a biker you probably already have a lock anyway. If not, you can obtain one for about $13.Overall, I'm very satisfied to own this rack, and am very happy with the price, too.

After several months of research and procrastination, I went ahead and ordered this rack. For the price and features this rack is a amazing deal. I have two vehicles one with a 1.25 inch hitch and another with a 2 inch hitch. I've used the rack on both. The rack is solidly made. It offers amazing adjustment to accommodate most bikes. I had an problem loading my cross bike and street bike together. Because the frame size and geometries are the same, I found the handle bars contacted the seat on the other bike making it difficult to easily load both bikes. I had to elevate the seat on one bike to let loading both bikes. I later moved the wheel trays and this remedied the bike contact issue. Once loaded the bikes were very secure. There is a bit of bike rack movement from street vibration while driving. This is understandable give the quality (lack of) with some the local streets here. The bikes remained very stable and secure during a latest 100 mile journey at highway speeds of 65 mph+. I use a little piece of foam pipe insulation at the contact point of the top tube of each bike to prevent any marring of the frame paint. What I like most about this rack is the ease of installing and using it. Although not a lightweight, I believe it is lighter than most racks of its type. This makes it easier to handle installing and uninstalling for storage. Bottom line, you can probably obtain a few more features by spending a whole lot more on a well known brand name bike rack. Why spend the additional dollars? This rack represents a very amazing ter a couple months of use my rating remains 5 stars. I really like this rack.

I have owned a lot of bike racks and without a doubt this is best one ever. It is very well designed and manufactured. When I obtain both bikes on, I feel confident they are firmly attached and I don't search myself always looking in the rear view mirror to see if they have been misaligned by the wind and bumps. The bikes, while close to one another, do not rub or bump into one another which is another amazing feature. I want I had learned about this rack years ago. As testimony to how well created and designed it is, I was reinstalling our bikes after a ride when I noticed a fellow rider watching me. He came over when I was done and said he had been watching me and was impressed with how easily I installed both bikes. He looked it over and how firmly they were attached and said "this is what I have been looking for forever!" Yep, I know exactly what you mean I said...

I'm so satisfied with this bike rack. It's really simple to place my bike on and off, especially because it's a women's bike and I don't have to lift it high. I like how it folds up, and when I place the center bar down I can access my trunk. I bought a wrench to hold in my trunk to take out the bolt, and that too is all easy. I can just throw the rack in my trunk if I don't wish to leave it on. I drove over 60 miles on the highway and it didn't wobble at all or create any e only "problems" I have are putting the pins in and out when folding/unfolding the arms. Sometime I just have to wiggle the arms up/down a couple millimeters so the holes line so, the backup sensors on my Volvo detect that I'm hitting something and beep the whole time I'm backing up with the hitch on.

Well... I've just purchased this, and broken it already during assembly! I am hopeful the company will replace the broken parts, because the assembly instructions were not at all clear with little pictures I used a magnifying glass to see. If you purchase this, here are 3 things I learned you might search helpful:First, the 2" sleeve has a set screw that is very difficult to remove (several other reviewers note this as well). I had to obtain a little pipe to slip over the allen wrench to add more leverage to turn it. Second, nowhere in the instructions specifies where all the different washers and lock washers go. They all have a put - the lock washers go on the two huge set screws, the 4 flat washers go on the fast adjust knobs, etc. Lay everything out and match them up with the right #/size screws. Third, and most necessary (this is what I broke), if the "quick adjust" do not tighten easily, do NOT hold turning harder as that will strip them. Instead, switch them to the other side of the tire holder racks (the FLAT side), where they will tighten easily to keep the racks in place.I stripped 2 of the fast change knobs before I figured out my mistake (I looked about 10 times at the instructions, which were no help). I hope Swagman will replace them. :-(

So I bought this bike rack for a long street trip across the country. Allow me say first that for the price the build quality is amazing and it is a amazing EVER, I am really unhappy due to the fact that the grip that clamps down over the bike has permanently damaged my $800+ mountain bike. It has rubbed the paint right off down to the metal. In all honesty I would rather have spent more on a expensive bike rack and kept my bike looking like new. I am really bummed and upset that after using it just a week it has damaged my bike. Be warned and place some sort of padding in between the bike and the grip. Lucky for you, you have been warned. Me on the other hand... my bike has been permanently damaged by the product.

The Swagman is awesome. I'm extremely fussy and this is really a well built unit and the engineering is excellent. All features have been well thought out and function perfect. All hitch mount bike racks have some wobble, this one is fine and has some.. but they all do. When driving the car, bike is stable and no major movement. All construction is first class, welds are perfect, paint is flawless and packaging is excellent. Before I purchased I went to a few bike and looked at all of the major brands, this one is better and lower cost. Like I mentioned earlier, well engineered and all features work very well. The rack is fairly light and folds up nicely to store, simple to carry. Amazing job by Swagman ! !

Every thing I hoped for. Substantially e top bar hooks have a ratchet mechanism to hold them from sliding if you hit a huge bump. Had a bike fall off my old rack, a Sportrack of related design a few weeks ago. A set screw prevents wheel hoops from from sliding off end of bar if you forget to tighten the knob and it works its method loose which I also had happen on my old bike carrier. There a amazing sized openings to let the use of 5 ft krylon cable to secure the rack and me people complained of how hard the plastic is on the top bar hooks. It probably would scratch or wear a finish. I simply added foam pipe insulation to them, The pipe foam was labeled for 7/8' O.D. pipe.I also added from Everything Automobiles on amazon: 2" Hitch Tightener for 2 Inch Hitch Extenders, Massive Duty U-Bolt, Anti Rust and Anti Rattle, Stabilizer, Stops Wobble. From Everything Automobile item #RET-HTC-TGHT $is also fits 1 1/4" square stock. I installed it between the receiver arm and the bike rack and it removed the excessive wobble from the rack.I used a 5 ft kylon cable and pad lock I had on hand thus saving that extra cost. I hold it on all the time thus securing the rack itself to the receiver hitch. My receiver hitch has huge enough openings to let the cable loop end to pass e ratcheting top bar hook can also have a little padlock placed on it to prevent theft, but cable and padlock combo is more substantial and is always on my ly I like the rubber strap keep down between bike tire and wheel hoop. Simple drawback is the rack had a sticker on it saying it was not warranted for use on the back of a fifth wheel or camper. I plan to have a receiver hitch welded to our pop up camper for huge trip out West this spring unless RV says this is really a poor idea.

It's well build and super simple to place together, load the bikes and in and out of the hitch. Bikes are held firmly and will travel securely without any bounce at all! Ok first usage with this rack, bike flew off.I should have secured it better, the issue which I want I noticed before I took my 3K bike on an adventure, was that with frames that are not straight, but angled from the head tube to the seat, the bike will roll right off... The easy solution is to place a strap that holds the bike from rolling side to side, the simpler solution would to inform the customer of this :(The bike rack once you figure this out is just fine, but I really screwed up my bike and feel like they should create the design better to keep the bike on, you shouldn't need additional straps and gadgets to fit a bike on a rack, everything should be included..

I decided to purchase this style of bike rack after searching the internet high and low for all various types of bike racks. To be honest I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and this style of bike rack, it is simple to use, holds the bikes securely, and safely. The reason I decided to go with the Swagman brand is because it is a very amazing value compare to other brand bike racks on the shop that offer the same thing this rack does. Don’t pay hundreds of dollars more for a product that will do the same function!Pros: The first amazing thing about this product that comes to mind is the construction quality of this rack. It is built strong, stable, and built to last. I was surprised when I first received this rack at the sturdiness of it. The second amazing thing about this rack is the ease of installing it to you vehicle, it takes maybe 5 mins to “install” or “remove” this rack from your vehicle. Very simple and straight forward on how to do this, basically you slide the rack into your received hitch, and then you insert the threaded bolt through one side of your receiver hitch and then [email protected]#$%! to the other side and start threading it into the other side. I will then general take a wrench and snug up the bolt, then put the cotter pin through the end if the bolt and you are done. The third amazing thing about this rack is how simple it is to load and unload the bikes from it. It takes literally 1 min to unload 2 bikes from this rack, and then you are ready to ride. No having to install your front tire, or lift the bikes up or down from the top of your vehicle or the bed of your truck, nope your simply release the tension on the bike and then remove it from the ns: The only thing I dislike about this rack is that it has to be folded down to access my tailgate when it is installed to my truck. And with bikes on the rack you are ether out of luck or you have to removed your bikes from the rack to access the tailgate. Overall this is not a large deal and I think the benefit the rack provides far outweighs this little issue.Overall: I have been using this bike rack for 2 or 3 years now and have not had any problems at all and have never had a bike come loose, fail off, or anything like that. I ride just about every day and the trailers I ride are about 10 miles from my house so I have to load the bike up every time I wish to go ride. That being said I don’t wish to have to mess with lifting the bike on top of my truck every day, and I also don’t wish to have to remove the front tire every single day. That is the largest selling point for me with this rack is that I can load my bike on it in basically seconds, place a Masterlock on it so it is safe and secure and then I’m ready to go ride!! I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed with this purchase and it is a very nicely constructed rack that functions awesomely well!!Perfect rack for people like me who ride every day and don’t wish to have to take the bike apart after each ride.

We are older in age so this bike rack makes it extremely simple for us to load and unload our bikes for our weekend cycling journeys without the hassle of trying to hang our bikes on our previous hang-style rack. Pack arrived on time and without any hurt with installation being straight forward with all tools (Allen wrench) cold for us to take the bikes and the fresh rack on the street but we did try fitted with everything fitting very nicely and once again, extremely simple to load and unload the bikes. The bikes appear to keep stead quick on the rack and without any excess movement at the 2 inch hitch point. The racketing mechanism works as designed holding the bikes sturdy and simple to reverse the racketing mechanism by simply applying slight top pressure and then squeezing the racketing mechanism trigger. We been keeping an eye on this rack since early summer hoping for the price to come down far enough for us to afford which it did so we quickly jumped on it and purchased it. Once the weather warms up again, we will street try the whole system and will report back if we search anything wrong or search any problems transporting the bikes on the fresh rack.Excellent Purchase!

Got this and installed it on the car. It seems like a nice bike rack and I have no concerns about loading my bikes on it. The problem we have is that it is crooked and we cant adjust anything to straighten it out. It looks to be built and welded crooked. One side is a couple inches lower than the other side. I contacted the seller (Sports Unlimited) and they were very responsive at first and said they were reaching out to the manufacturer but we've heard nothing back since (over a week) and I've followed up with no response. Will be reaching out directly to the manufacturer myself if I dont obtain an respond soon and I can modernize once we have a resolution and can use the rack. I dont wish to use it and risk my bikes or them not wanting to honor any kind of warranty.

I was tired of using my trunk mounted saris bones 3 and wanted to obtain a hitch mounted bike rack. I got a fresh Trek Fuel EX 8 27.5, so I bit the bullet and bought a hitch for my Pathfinder. I did extensive research and was shocked at how expensive some of the bigger named tray bike racks cost. I came across the Swagman XTC 2 bike and read every review I could find. This rack was excellent for my needs of carrying my bike to and from the trails. I like the wheel straps as an additional bit to stability and the ratcheting top bar stabilizer that can be locked and of course the locking hitch pin. I do tie the top bar to the middle post as an additional precaution as well. It was easy to assemble. I did use some loctite thread locker on the two hex bolts that attach the rack to the swingarm to create sure they stay tight.Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. The rack is fairly massive duty and does the job of transporting my bike at a reasonable cost. I am certain this Swagman will give years of amazing service.

I purchased this rack 4 years ago this month. I myself believe this to be a capable and reliable carrier. It is lightweight and well made. It looks exactly like the picture. I wont be able to really add anything fresh to the enormous amount of reviews, except maybe give you some better pictures of it so that one can maybe create their own decision on the construction. I will say that once the top clamp is pulled down onto the bikes top tube, it probably wont go anywhere, but I still use a strap to keep the wheels to their metal loops. I only use the rack for one bike, so it weighs only 21 pounds in that configuration. When it's not on the vehicle it's folded up and carried easily in one hand.

Modernize 8/20: Just returned from the street trip carrying a vintage 20" Schwinn Hollywood women's bike. I did purchase a cross-bar adapter for the bike so that the hook on the rack could ratchet down tightly. I also used velcro straps on both wheels, but I don't think that was necessary, the bike rode solid as a rock, on a Honda Element. In short, if your bike falls off this rack I think you're doing something wrong.I'm getting ready to take this rack on a 4,000 mile street trip, and will modernize this review after if there are any issues. It appears to be well created and I can't see how there will be problems. I'm going with four stars for now only because the assembly instructions are so bad. This is simple to place together, but if step 1 "insert the lynch pins" is meaningless to you (and the diagram doesn't point out what a "lynch pin" is) you're going to have trouble. You are also going to have left-over parts, if yours comes like mine did. I figured out where they should go, then called Swagman (very helpful customer service people in Canada) to be sure I had it will likely have 4 left-over flat washers. Those go under the knobs that are used to adjust and lock down the sliding wheel trays. So, just place them on in step 2, when you are inserting the knobs, and they won't be left are likely to have two left-over lock washers. If yours comes with the upright arm and the two side arms already assembled to the bracket at the bottom, the factory (why?) left them off. They go under the two nuts holding the bottom two bolts on that bracket. So, you'll have to disassemble and re-assemble to use them. Do so at your own risk, not mine, and create sure to obtain that bracket back together well or you could end up dumping your bike somewhere on the road.

The item is very well-made. It Fit my 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee Overland like it was created for it! I didn’t feel like I had to force or jam anything, it fits like a glove! I installed it, by myself, in under 30 minutes! I followed the video that’s attached to the ad except I did not peel back the rubber strip, instead I slid it back and forth. It seemed really hard to obtain it back in the grooves So sliding it created sense to me. It was super simple to install and it looks great! I can’t wait to go kayaking this weekend!

After reading the reviews (positve & Negativce) I was sckeptical to purchase but required a roof rack for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited to transport 2 bikes. I purchased these and took an 2400 mile trip half with bikes loaded on the roof during the 1st 1200 miles and racks alone on return trip. Both positive and negative reviews created note of wind noise, locking ends and cushioning strips not staying attached. Unless I recevied "Special" racks these complaints appear to be user self imposed. Admittedly the included instruction are not good an ddo not point out some critical problems to watch d noise - The Grand Cherokee (and a lot of SUVs) is not the quietess car before you add racks. Neither I nor my passengers could detect significnat increase in noise level at freeway shioning strips & locking end caps - There is a review that simply and and clearly walks through the installation process - if followed, these instruction (with 1 exception), should eliminate both locking end and cushioning strip problems. I am not going to restate the other reviewer's installation instructions but will address the one item that was not explicitly stated. When intsalling create sure the strips are properly and COMPLETLY seated. If the tempuratures are cool the material will not be pliable and seating can be difficult. When properly seated they will be smooth - no ripples. I found the best method to seat them was to first work with may hands/finders until almost smooth. Then I used the rounded handle end of a screwdriver to work the center of the strip into place. When installled properly the strips will not have any ripples/high spots (front-to-back or side-to-side) and However they should protrude 1/16" -1/8" over each end of the rail. This protrution creates compression pressure to hold locking caps tight, BUT you need to ensure the locks catch when putting the end caps in place.

These crossbars are sturdy and appear to be created of quality materials. I followed the included directions and had zero issues installing them on my Renegade (18). I did use blue thread-locker on them to hold them in put and will be watching the bolt on top of the rail(s) for rust. I'll just replace the bolt and cover with silicone sealant, if needed. Time will tell if these are sturdy and i will revise my review as needed. Amazing value and simple to install.

I am surprised by the price/performance ratio - much lower price compared with alternatives. Very well made. After tighten them on your Renegade roof, they became very tight and strong. I like the black matte finish.

The cross bars showed up excellent in the box with 4 keys and an allen wrench. I opened the box, removed the locked end, pulled back the rubber top, loosed the outside allen bolt, and installed the crossbars. They are labeled with arrows that point towards the front of the car, so it is very simple to figure out what goes where and tighten the outside allen bolt.Once I had them both installed, pushed down the rubber piece and place on the locked ends, I admired my 15 mins of work. The cross bars are very sturdy and do not move at all.I will search out if they create any wind noise tomorrow morning.

2018 JGC : After considering the different options for roof racks from Thule, Yakima and Rola; I did not feel like I required to pour $400 + into a roof rack for my occasional use. While not the most aesthetically pleasing rack; it is low profile and does the job. Fairly simple to install; however, the pieces don't exactly fit well with each other (the end lock caps need to be finessed into put to be able to lock into place), and the rubberized top over the T track doesn't reach all the method end to end (Ill remedy this with some black electrical tape so that water doesnt infiltrate into the track and corrode the lock. There is a small bit of wind noise at lower speeds, but with a v8; you cant exactly hear the wind disruption unless the radio is off and you are specifically listening for it. However, for a

We took a couple of chairs, tent, sleeping bags and clothes in the box, the cross bars are very sturdy and worked great. There are also no wind noice when drove in 70 mph.

OK so lots of fit problems with the various Jeep cross rails (I bought three sets one from Jeep, one from Thule and these). Look at the picture of the horizontal flat roof rail if each rail has two j channels (small side of J pointing to outside of vehicle) these will fit. I am not sure how well the seller’s command of English is (not a knock, just my thought) they told me the product would not fit. I tried it based on the above picture and it works e Mopar rails for 260 bucks were terrible. The Thule aero bar with risers was awesome! (But also 550 bucks!) Personally I will only use this product maybe once or twice a year, I had a hard time spending 550 for is is rail is an aero bar style. I will refrain from Saying a knock off. However, it is a really amazing product if it will fit for you, Well created amazing fit, not sloppy in the joints, will not scratch the vehicle. Honestly, if I were going to hold them on the vehicle all the time I would still buy these over the 550 version. They look beautiful amazing on the vehicle for a roof rack, they do not look like something you bought at a discount shop to go on a trip (personally I think they are all somewhat ugly).Fairly quiet for a roof rack. There is no such thing as a silent roof rack, the aero design does help. In all- for 90 bucks I am thrilled! I would have gladly paid 200 for these cross bars and still would have felt like I got a fair deal.Just look at your J channel to ensure the d luck!

I just drove 600 highway miles with this rack with nothing on it. It created no sound.. i hit speeds of 80 mph of extended driving with no e rack had front and back stickers on the bottom which created things easier to install but I was confused by the arrows so don’t follow them. I had to look at pictures that people graciously posted (thank you ladies/gents!) to figure out which side it should face. See below if you’re still not clear which method it should be facing. Anything that has to do with wind, always remember the wing of a plane. Leading edge is always larger than the trailing edge. This allows air to move around the wing more is is a amazing rack that is super sturdy. You can grab the rack and shake the whole vehicle and the rack won’t move. I don’t doubt it will work with cargo as long a you follow the load only criticism is that the previous model Jeep (that came with the bars...more cash for less features right!) had tie down loops built into the crossbars. There is nothing you can hook on that doesn’t require looping around the bars. So it’s annoying to tie something down at all for corners of the rack. I guess you could tie around the pedestals. But putting in a few built in loops would have created it more functional and easier to strap items down using hook. But I’m being hypercritical and I’m used to my old jeeps roof rack that was more closing, it’s a amazing rack that is reasonably priced! I would recommend this rack to anyone.if you’re hearing any sounds do the following.1. Create sure the blunt ends are facing forward.2. Create sure you’re putting the black strip back on. Without the strip, it will whistle.3. If it’s still whistling, it’s your tie down straps and not the rack. There may be nothing you can do about that. This thing is quiet with nothing attached to it. Also if you have some sort of moon roof deflector up there, that may be changing the air flowing going over the crossbars. I don’t have a moon roof on my Jeep.

So these crossbars went onto a 2019 grand cherokee with the slotted roof rails. They fit perfectly once I threw the instructions in the trash. They are actually super easy to place on but don't test to use the instructions they will just confuse you. The crossbars will actually slide along the roof rails to fit at the distance you need, which was amazing cause I didn't have to reposition the hardware on the attachments I have to mount. However since they can be positioned anywhere along the slide you can install them crooked so measure before you tighten them down. To install... loosen the long screw that goes all through to the base, angle the bracket so the lip sets under the lip on the rail and tighten the bolt. Simple peasy! Don't over think it. You only need the Allen wrench that comes with the bars.

I feel I have to write a review just because of all the not good reviews of people is rack works well. It has a few flaws, but it's excellent for what I need: bikes and camping gear.Flaws:It has cheap paint... Who cares? It's a utility cargo rack. Use some dollar can spray paint if it bothers wobbles... Obtain this and quit complaining: reflectors are mounted to the outside of the rack so if you shop it upright, they will break. Just flip them around to the inside when storing or obtain some reflective tape n-flaws:1. "Instructions are little / assembly was difficult."This took me a half hour to build. It will take some manipulating with a hammer to coax the pieces into place. If you can't look at a picture and see how something goes together, then see if your daddy can support you. It's not legos.2. "It's massive :( "Of course it's heavy, it's created out of metal. If you can't lift it, search an adult. For the people complaining they had to place this together: if it were pre-assembled, you'd be complaining about shipping costs.3. "Tie-down strap is weak."FALSE. The tie-down strap is created of polyester webbing which should be rated for hundreds of pounds. The cargo rack bears the brunt of the weight. The strap is to prevent the weight from shifting. The ratchet tie down strap that comes with it is plenty to secure 4 bikes.4. "The velcro loops that attach to the tires are weak."Those loops are not supposed to be carrying weight. They are simply to hold the metal tire holder around the , overall it's a nice bike rack. It doubles as a cargo rack so it's very versatile. If you've built erector sets then assembly will be fine. If you have fat sausage-link fingers and man-boobs then don't buy this, you WILL be lost because there is no pause button or guide at the begin menu. And if you plan to use this behind a BMW X5, save yourself the agony and spend a thousand bucks at the dealer for a *pretty* one.

Picked this up six months ago, right after bolting on a towing hitch to my 2013 Odyssey. As if I didn't have enough issues fighting off the women when I turned in my man card to buy a minivan, a tow hitch and rack has created my life a living hell of beating beating off infatuated swim suit models with a large, steal-reinforced nce purchasing this, I have used it to:- Haul 3 huge storage bins full of about 80-100 lbs of camping gear 800 miles to the beach and back- Lug 2 adult bikes and 1 children bike all over the put locally- Haul fire wood, a christmas tree, a lion carcass that I killed with my bare hands, coolers, etc. all over within the glorious and glamorous state of OhioZero complaints so far outside of scraping the ground when I pull out of my drive method (since my van has the ground clearance of your average skateboard), and even then, it has held up very well. It is indeed huge and heavy, however after a number of attempts I have figured out how to mount it and remove it solo (though I'm a fairly powerful individual). For anyone hauling items in a car that was built to haul cotton candy and ows like mine was, create sure to check both the tongue weight and towing capacity of your car before loading it down. I also recommend versus strapping lawn chairs on it and telling your children that it's a safe 4th row seat with a view - because children are dumb and less durable than you'd expect.

Tow Tuff TTF-2762KR Steel Cargo Carrier with Bike Rack []  2020-10-18 18:37

This rack exceeded our expectations for few reasons. First, assembly is so simple if you have the right tool. A 11/16 ratchet is best for the job, all nuts have same size. The assembly manual could have larger image, so you may need to use magnifying glass to create sure you place parts where they belong. Carrier is created from thick metal, once assembled it makes very sturdy and robust piece. Create sure to tight all nuts but do not over-tighten. After completing assembly and inserting hitch into receptacle, I found it does not go deep enough as it could because of the zone of the locking bolt hole in the hitch bar. So I used 5/8" drill to create extra hole (shown on the picture) and that created the excellent fit with more than enough help for the carrier when inside the 2 inch receptacle of my Navigator. I was worried small about wobbling but after locking it with the bolt, the entire platform became very steady. In order to create the trailer even more visible used DOT approved 2" red-while reflective tape I purchased also on Amazon, product ABN DOT-C2 2" X 10' Trailer Conspicuity DOT Reflective Red/White Tape. It makes huge difference when travelling after sunset and it makes driver look responsible and caring. I highly recommend to use the tape for extra visibility and e 1,500 miles street trip I took from Fresh England to Florida went smooth and with no surprises. The entire rack was behaving like it was not there, no wobbling, no squeaking, entire cargo was in place: 2 full size bicycles, two massive gym bags and huge piece of rowing machine, total weight est. about 300 lbs. All screws held perfectly all parts, no loose parts, no gaps, nothing that would create me concern to use this cargo platform next time. I would give this product 5 stars, but I have to take one away for hard to read assembly drawing and need to drill another hole in the cargo hitch. But still, for this cash and with built quality, it is a steal. Highly recommended. See pictures I submitted. Thanks for reading.

I received the Tow Tuff 2 in 1 cargo and bike rack 2 weeks ago. It's quite heavy, the packaging was slightly owned & damaged in delivery. I finally opened today, all pieced were in box and no dents. It's quite massive for me, but with the support of my hubby or son, it's not bad. The instructions suck & too little to read. The picture on back has too a lot of lines & numbers that it's more confusing than helpful. There are 2 various size bolts, they don't identify which one to use. I looked at the images other people posted and tookmy chances on assembling. I'm including pics, hopefully it will support someone else, i took pics of which bolt i used. I'm using it on my Chevy Silverado, it only fits a 2" hitch, I recommended getting a hitch tightened and a pin you can lock. I like the straps, i place 3 cruiser bikes on it & straps were secure along with the ratchet tie down provided. So far seems to be a amazing item. It's a amazing quality cargo/bike rack. I recommended it if you don't wish or can't drop $400 or more on a expensive name brand. Do your research.

I would have given this 4 or 5 stars however, after 99% assembled ( which is simple by the method ) the very final bike runner would not install. It was a manufacturing defect in the part that prevented the R pin from securing one whole side of the bike runners. So, without this part, the rack cannot function as a bike carrier. Now, most companies list 1 800 numbers in the manual to get parts for missing or defective ones, well not this company. No means of contact provided in the manual or anywhere on box. Www service has no customer service and never responded to my queries for help. Thankfully Amazon has the best customer service and provided satisfactory reimbursement. Judging by the mix of 1 and 5 star reviews, buying this rack is like a slot machine at Vegas. Amazing luck, I lost.

This rack went together flawlessly, every piece was excellent (no drilling like others had mentioned, so maybe that had been fixed). Even without the INCLUDED strap, the bikes are nicely secured with the "tire boots". It also comes with the reflectors! The extention bar slides in/out of the end of the center tube. I hold it in because otherwise, on a steep driveway, that bar does bottom out - but that all depends on how low or high your hitch is. The strap secures everything nicely even with the bar in - not even sure why they have it - but an added gift if you need it I guess. And its a snap to take the "tire boots" off if you just wish to haul other cargo - or just pile the cargo on top since they fold down nice and flat. The black coating does tend to scrap off fairly easily - so you may have to repaint portions to hold it from rusting, depending on how rough you are with it. As of for it's performance overall - it keeps the bikes very stable. Very small bouncing around and my SUV drives with no noticable difference when loaded up with 3 bikes. I place 2 adult bikes and one 20" BMX bike (last) onto the bike rack with absolutely no problems. Like any bike rack, you may have to figure out which order and zone works best for your bikes, but I got it on the first test - just had to adjust the peddals so all the bikes squished together nicely. For the price, you can't beat it!!! Oh, and I had no issue getting it onto my SUV to place the pin in. Sure it's easier with 2 people, but not all that difficult with one person. And the best part is, once the bikes are unloaded, your hatch or tailgate can begin without changing anything on the rack!

Tow Tuff TTF-2762KR Steel Cargo Carrier with Bike Rack []  2020-10-18 18:37

I was excited to order this, as we required both a cargo carrier for an upcoming camping trip for a family of 6, and a bike rack for bike rides in the future. I ordered it with the Prime guarantee that it would be delivered in 2 days on a Friday. This was excellent as my husband could assemble it over the weekend. However, it didn't come on Friday. I called Amazon Saturday morning, and they said it would be here that day. It didn't end up coming until Monday. My husband assembled it after work, and much to our chagrin, it was missing TWO major pieces. One of the help bars was missing, and one of the long shafts used to assemble the bike portion. This would create it unusable, and we are headed out on vacation on Wednesday. We are a family of 6, and we have to have a cargo carrier for this trip to be able to happen. I called the 800 number, and the lady I talked to was very nice, but said there was nothing that could be done until the next day, and that I would obtain a response via e-mail. This morning ( now Tuesday) I obtain an email saying I'll obtain a response within 48-72 hours. This is very frustrating, as we are leaving in less than 24 hours, and have no method to haul our camping to the actual carrier. Besides the missing pieces, it appears to be created quite sturdy. It also is much larger than other cargo carriers that I have seen. It looks like it can haul 4 Rubbermaid bins, with a few more stuff tucked behind it. It looks like a really amazing product, but just want the company would ship as promised, and that the stuff would be checked to create sure all parts are included.I'm updating this review on October 15th. It has now been 6 days since I contacted the company about the missing pieces, and they still haven't responded about sending ey finally responded, and after several e-mails they sent me a fresh carrier. I'm grateful that the company created it right, but it shouldn't take so much work to obtain the product that you ordered.

Tow Tuff TTF-2762KR Steel Cargo Carrier with Bike Rack []  2020-10-18 18:37

I've had this item for 2 weeks now and love it. I've used it twice so far with 4 bikes each time. We have one 24", two 26" and one 28" mountain bike. As long as you alternate the direction the bikes are facing it shouldn't take you more than 5 mins to load the bikes.I used to have the Thule Parkway 4-bike rack but it was painful trying to place on and take off 4 bikes, especially since almost none of our bikes have the normal straight frame that is required with dual-arm hitch 's fairly massive but I can still place it on and take it off the hitch by myself.

JAPUSOON Bike Rack Upright Bike Storage Stand Adjustable Bicycle Carrier,Front Wheel/Rear Wheel/Vertical Floor Parking Fits Nearly All Bikes []  2020-1-20 2:45

My item was defective, as the pieces didn't fit due to being manufactured too narrow. So I had to return it. The seller sent a fresh one which worked as described and holds a massive electric bike well. The stand is solid, well built.

Just what we needed, the tube that goes up to help the front tire is a small wobbly but didn’t seem to create it unstable.

I have two of these and both bikes are 27.5 and 29. Both fit horizontally. Vertically the stand is a bit short for my Demo 8 and Enduro so it needs to be modified with some simple parts from the hardware store. Another reviewer here posted what is required to extend the stand.

CyclingDeal 1 Bike Bicycle Car Roof Carrier Fork Mount Rack []  2020-1-31 23:23

July '18 UPDATE: Still love these, but I'm definitely getting surface rust on the welds. I'll have to obtain the wire brush out and remove light rust, coat with more black paint and seal with a thin layer of WD40. This looks like it'll need attention or it may have problems in several years. If you do light coating of WD40, lithium grease, or some rust preventer right from the beginning, you should be in amazing shape.---------UPDATE: I purchased 3 of these racks and 1 of the rear tire straps came off and flew away while on the freeway. Luckily, the strap does very small to secure the bike, but they're amazing to have. I replaced it with a velcro strap and it stayed secure on a 6 hour trip across Iowa (*RAGBRAI*). Very stable. Drove on the highway and twisty back streets at 70-80mph and they didn't create a peep or budge an inch. The wind noise is much less than expected unless the sunroof was open, and there wasn't the slightest tip of a rattle. Much more buttoned down than my latest trunk mounted system.----I purchased 3 of these to haul street bikes onto a generic set of crossbars (CargoLoc Roof Top 2 PC. 46" Aluminum Cross Bars ) for my 2012 Hyundai Veracruz, a 3 row SUV. The price was far cheaper than a lot of of it's competitors. Installation was simple once I figured out where everything went.. The instructions were vague in some places. I hoped the rail was one piece, but its 2, overlapping by 5 inches and joined at the center with a couple bolts. I'm sure it'll keep just fine, and I cant complain for the price. The U bolts aren't the prettiest method to secure this, but once again, price. Its a rack for a family SUV, not a Porsche, so I can live with function over form. I haven't driven long distances with this yet, but so far the bike is very secure at 70mph.

This rack gets my bike out of my vehicle and on the roof! The mounting system fit well on my Saab OEM roof rack ere are two sets of square u-bolts to accommodate narrow & wide (up to about 5 inch wide or 13 cm) cross bars. The flat brackets work well on square x plastic quick-release nuts are included for tool-free installation and removal. All the nuts used for assembly have nylon inserts to prevent vibrating loose on the e bike rides securely in the carrier while on the street with no apparent movement. The front fork attaches securely with a qr only concern is that the painted steel wheel tray and fork mount may rust if scratched. More expensive bike racks have extruded aluminum trays. I'm willing to touch up future scratches and hold the $30-50 savings in my pocket!

Very sturdy, holds my bike w no issue. I was missing a screw though but I easily replaced it w one from my toolbox. Standing the bike up gets it onto of the method which is great. Cats don’t mess w it or knock it over either so that’s a plus.

I have to say I've been beautiful impressed by this bike rack. It's amazing for a little zone where it saves on floor zone by holding the bike upright. It assembled beautiful easily and it quite stable.

Place this together in about 10 minutes, it’s lite enough to move around but is very solid. We have 2 various kind of bikes and it fits them both, no problem.

This bike rack has worked fine for me up to this point. I will say though, you definitely obtain what you pay has held my bike fine on a lot of trips, although the track feels flimsy and cheaply built, it gets the job done. I have also noticed that it has started to rust a small on some of the welds, but nothing of consequence, so I'm fine with it.I installed this on a 1993 Subaru Impreza wagon with a factory roof rack and cross ere are a few fitments notes though:1- My tires are 2.4x29, and they barely fit in the track as far as width goes2- I ride a huge 29er, and the track is just barely long enough to keep the rear wheel (that may be normal, but it seems short to me)3- I had to install it backwards, as the rear hatch would not go up all of the method given how far back the track sat on my vehicle.

Assembly and set up were beautiful straightforward however I place this thing to the try today on my method to work. Now allow me begin off by saying this thing felt super secure on my cargoloc rack this morning when I tested. So needless to say I went balls to the wall and took the Pennsylvania turnpike (speed limit is 70mph) without even testing this thing around my neighborhood. Needless to say 1 min in and I was doing 50-55mph and people were passing me with middle fingers flying. This rack was making a ton of noise and I could see through the sunroof my bike was wobbling back and forth. Not amazing and beautiful scary. The scariest part I'd have to say was going over the speed bumps at work. This thing was wobbling like no tomorrow. Not sure if it's something I did incorrectly or maybe overnight the U-bolts just simply came loose slightly. Either way... it shouldn't be like this. I should have (and will) invested in a name brand. Really giving this thing 2 stars because my bike didn't eat it on the PA turnpike this morning. Want me luck for my ride home after work. Likely the bike is going in my trunk.

I was happily surprised to see how sturdy this bike rack is on my Thule rack. I've read some reviews that stated it was "flimsy"? Mine was tightened at every joint and took about 30 mins to be installed. Have had the bike mounted on the interstate twice and never had a second worry. If you wish a reasonably priced bike carrier this is the one. I can also carry my 10 feelfree Kayak and bike together on my roof, How cool is that?

If I could give it a Ten out of 5 I would. Used this to drive 1300 miles for a move. Clamped on to my stock Subaru bars just fine was cheaper then everything else by far. And held on tight to my Tri bike that is like a kid to me the whole way. With some speeds that probably would not be recommended by the manufacturer. Some people have said the rear tire strap is a small sketchy but it didn't even come close to budging for my entire trip.

The first one has been working out so well, I bought a second one! I attached a picture. Two of these bike racks are mounted on Whispbars. I required to buy some standard bolts and a ubolt plate and did away with the ubolts themselves, as they are just not wide enough for the whispbars. Other than that, they have held up great. Disregard those who say "too much assembly required". You literally place five nuts and bolts on the thing to place three pieces together! That is it! Once together it comes on and off with hand knobs in just a minute. You only "build" it once. I definately recommend for $39. They are nice and stable, no wobble. Definately a better option than the style that keeps the front wheel on.

This is what you pay for. Not the best looking or highest quality rack I've seen, but it does the job all the same. I fit two specialized mountain bikes on top of my vehicle with these rocks. It's a tight squeeze, but it worked none the less. U can place one on backwards and it was too of needed. Amazing deal for the price when your just starting out and everything is adding up to obtain expensive. I included pics of both bikes that fit on top facing forward for reference since I don't have a image of them both facing forward.

CyclingDeal 1 Bike Bicycle Car Roof Carrier Fork Mount Rack []  2020-1-31 23:24

I just used this roof top bike rack to take my road/tri bike on a 90+/- mile round-trip highway drive & it worked great! It's a simple, no frills bike rack, but it seems to be of decent quality in general & the hardware is reliable so e one feature this rack doesn't have is locking capabilities. The rack doesn't lock to the vehicle cross bars and the bike doesn't lock to the rack. You could easily add your own cable lock setup if you wanted, but I know other, more expensive racks have built-in locking mechanisms. The only other reason to spend more cash on a rack is if you wish the small "THULE" sticker on the side.I debated between a rear mounted or roof top rack & I'm glad I went with the roof top. I have a Nissan Rogue (small-midsize SUV) and there is no hitch receiver pre-installed on it. So a hitch-mounted rear rack would have needed the hitch install, which would have been an expensive hassle. Rear racks also block your rear view, they block your trunk/rear door access unless you obtain the expensive kind that folds away, they create parking more difficult, and they make a larger target for other vehicles to hit. The roof top rack is a small more difficult to obtain the bike up onto and reduces your overhead clearance (don't forget you have the bike up there and test to drive into a garage or drive-thru). I was able to obtain the bike up there without too much problem & I'm a male of average height & strength. If you're doing it by yourself with an SUV, you have to be able to pick the bike up, keep it shoulder-height, then step up onto the platform at the bottom of your begin vehicle door. If you have a low vehicle roof and/or your're tall, you might not have to step up. There are pros & cons to both ways, but I've used both & I think a roof top rack is better overall if you already have cross bars.

They are beautiful stable, does take a few mins to place them together, they are not a plug and play rack. Don't judge, took the SUV to a 100MPH and the bikes held up just fine! I have two, I travel with my TT bike and Street Bike. 23c Tires.
