After I read the reviews of the ukelele, I was convinced that it was worth ordering. Everyone is correct- it is a amazing small instrument, and a amazing value. It comes with the tuner, a strap, a case, etc. I am having fun re-learning how to play it and am having a blast! I am teaching myself kids' songs to play for my small grandson.
This is a unbelievable kit to as a beginner, intermediate or "beach/camping" ukulele player who wants to test a tenor size uke. I have been playing a concert-sized Cordoba 15CM for the past couple of years and I love the sound and quality of that instrument, but wanted to test the slightly larger size of a tenor ukulele. I did a lot of research and the Ranch product received enough rave reviews that I figured I'd test it. It has turned out to greatly exceed my expectations in all s: - amazing quality construction - the wood and polish look very rich and don't look at all - keeps in tune - fullyw enclosed all-metal tuning gears - contains Aquila nylgut strings (these create all the difference in sound and play) - frets are well placed, smooth, and the right height for quick chording - the slightly rounded back helps create the sound rich and quite loud without sounding tinny or cheapCons: - the included tuner device is okay, but not great... I use my KLIQ Ubertuner instead (it's great!) - I don't usually use a strap when playing, but I found that the included strap is just okay for holding the instrument, if you wish to use a strap at all. - This Ranch tenor uke weighs only about an ounce heavier than my concert sized Cordoba, even though it's 3 inches longer and the center of gravity is about an inch further up the neck than the Cordoba concert uke. It feels a small "neck heavy" to me because the body is so light, but I got adjusted beautiful easily to l in all, I think this is a amazing sounding, high quality, simple to play ukulele that I'm satisfied to use for beautiful much any purpose and proud to take to jam sessions.
We have several Ukulele's at our home. My oldest daughter has a Kala we purchased in Kauaii while on vacation ($100), my second daughter has a starter/kids diamond head soprano ukulele she purchased years ago on Amazon ($35) and a Lanika concert ukulele ($90 pictured below). After comparing this ukulele to our others we came up with the conclusion that we could have saved a lot of by purchasing this ukulele versus the others. While the tenor ukulele has been excellent, it came solo (no extras) and cost a lot of money, the Lanika (again no extras) has attractive sound quality and both are amazing ukuleles, but in my opinion this Ranch ukulele is just as quality as the others we own for half the cost! The sound quality is absolutely beautiful, and the color of the wood is stunning as is the entire look of the ukulele. The gig bag it comes with is padded and far superior to the bag we purchased separately for our Lanika. My daughter has now stolen my bag and claimed it as her own. I also love that it comes with a neck strap for when you wish to play standing up (already used that feature several times). The additional strings and polishing cloth are nice additions as is the tuner. Thus far the tuner has worked perfectly every time we have tuned it. Now my youngest daughter is begging for her own ukulele, and this will be the one we again! I couldn't be more happy with this attractive instrument! Thank you Ranch and amazon for providing such perfect quality products at affordable prices!
My almost boyfriend (lol.) bought me a Makala. It went out of tune in just a few minutes, ugh. (Ugh! Not much difference from the $13 souvenir ukulele I bought in Hawaii.) Especially considering he probably close to $50... IS ONE, however, is AWESOME. It's sooo beautiful (the body looks and feels so professional, and the sound quality is great), and it stays in tune for quite a while. I mean, is that so hard? I don't think I should have to carry a frickin' screwdriver around with my uke to create sure The strings stay tuned for more than 3 minutes. The Makala soprano feels like a toy in comparison. If you're gonna a decent ukulele for yourself, spend the additional $10-20 and this one. You won't regret iiiiit~~~ (lol)
This is a amazing starter ukulele, or even a amazing second ukulele for someone that place. It’s a very affordably concert size ukulele and simple to play. It plays in tune up and down the neck, which is necessary thing to look for when purchasing a ukulele. The additional things added or a nice such as the tuner and strap and carrying bag.
This is a really amazing concert ukulele for the price. I have a lanikai soprano ukulele and the sound that comes from it is comparable, if not a small better. The sounds that comes out of the ukulele is warm and a bit deep. Having aquila definitely helps makes the sound that comes out of it resonate warmly. The construction is also well done, with the fret boards surprisingly smooth on the e also comes with a couple other goodies. There's a tuner that works well enough, and it's always nice to have a physical tuner rather than using my phone. There's a strap which I haven't quite figured out how to use and set up with the ukulele. There's an additional pair of aquila strings in case you break a string, although unlikely, is still really nice. There's also a case which is well created and fits all the things inside r any ukulele, the string will have to be tuned multiple times until it gets used to the ukulele and your playing so this is normal. I found it stayed in tune a small longer than normal out of the box which is e only con I found was the micro fiber cloth. It was useless as the triangular shaped corners started fraying and coming apart. However since it's a anyways it's not a huge deal. The for all of this when I got it was 54 bucks which is a amazing deal! It's cheaper than my soprano ukulele.
A little story of how I found the Ranch Ukulele. I am a high school teacher of 30+ years and for the first time ever am facilitating several independent studies classes. One young man selected the melody industry careers as his subject for the semester. I asked if he played an instrument and his response of "no, but I wish to" started a group quest to search what might work for him. Fairly soon I was working with half a dozen students wanting to test the Ukulele. One of the young men said he know someone who could play and would ask him to come to teach some of the basics. He agreed and the quest for instruments ter several days of research, begging family and mates to help, we finally received a couple of classroom instruments. One teacher, six students, and 2 ukuleles create learning next to impossible. One of the girls told me she found the ukulele she was going to obtain for class. Her eagerness to share the search caused me to slow down and take a look. She had actually found a ukulele that was not too expensive and looked a lot better than the "toy" ones she first wanted. I agreed to it for her and she could me back in installments. Fast-forward to now, I also learned that the young man who was teaching us had a bumper sticker on the back of his ukulele that covered the rather huge crack which happened when he either dropped it or his sister sat on it. He liked the Tenor size because of his "sausage fingers" and the sound, so I ordered THIS Ranch Tenor with him in mind.I want I would have recorded his first reaction to this Ukulele. He was very surprised to search out how much I and kept reinforcing his Hawaiian ukulele was three times that amount. HE LOVED THE SATIN FINISH because he has sweaty hands and the high gloss varnish causes a slippery grip. His praise of the Ranch ukulele has not stopped since the first day I allow him play it. Ukulele fever is spreading and I believe we have found one of the BEST Beginner Ukuleles Amazon has to offer.Hope the videos convey the quality in construction, the sound, and the fun of play.
I purchased this ukulele because at the time, the product images showed a rich, coffee brown color, but when it arrived it was much lighter. It also came without the advertised strap buttons and there was some light cosmetic hurt to the headstock, but only visible if you looked ckily, Ranch customer service is good. They responded quickly and to their credit, updated their product images to reflect the color of the instrument more accurately the day I contacted them. They offered to create things right by sending me a fresh one immediately, but the color was necessary to me and the deeper brown color was only available in the first production batch, so I didn't end up keeping it.I've handled tons of ukuleles before and I have to say, the build quality on this Ranch Concert ukulele is -superb-. All the small info are taken care of. The fret edges are very smooth, fretboard is flawless, binding is perfect, etc. There were no blemishes on the finish and no gaps in pieces of wood joined together like there are in a lot of other models I've is is a attractive sounding and looking arched back ukulele and the kit has everything you need. I liked the gray bag and the tuner is simple to use and works well. Not that I had to use it much. The included Supernylgut Aquila strings settle in after only a day or so, and there's even an additional set.
AMAZING UKULELE!!! Honestly, exceeded my expectations! I had read the reviews prior to buying it and was a small skeptical because some people said they had a difficult time tuning it and keeping it tuned, which created me believe something was wrong with the ukulele. However, there is NOTHING wrong with it and after about a week of having it and tuning/playing it everyday, it has gotten so much better at staying in tune. The electronic tuner that comes with it is amazing(but create sure that you have it set to ukulele) so use it to your advantage!! I would NOT recommend this, or any other instrument, if you do not have the time or patience to with tuning it/learn how to play(literally took a week people). I would 100% RECOMMEND this to anyone willing to take the time to tune(literally
I got this 21" Economic Soprano Ukulele Begin Package by ADM for my wife who is a musician of a lot of sorts. This review is based on her experience using the product. Ukuleles are a string instrument created from a hollow soundboard and four strings. They look like a mini guitar. They have an hourglass base and a fingerboard neck. Often, ukulele manufacturers create the strings from stainless steel or nylon, and the instrument's tuning should be (in order) the notes of G, C, E and A. Most ukuleles have wood construction. However, musicians may search less expensive versions built from plastic. There are a dozens of models including: soprano, concert, armadillo, pineapple, banjo tenor and baritone. This Ukulele is a soprano ver that has a basswood body and nylon strings. As a musician my wife said that that this is quality constructed instrument. It's not top of the line mind you but it's a amazing solid instrument excellent for starting out and beyond. Other features of the instrument contain a black neck fingerboard with sturdy brass frets (a total of 12 altogether). The frets are marked at the 5th, 7th & 10th levels. The tuners are chrome plated metal with plastic buttons and look like that of a guitar. They are just as sturdy as the rest of the instrument. This set comes with a pink holding bag, a shoulder strap that can be taken on and off, 2 picks, additional white nylon string in case a string needs to be replaced, an orange polishing cloth to hold the instrument shining and a digital tuner. They even included the battery for the tuner. The instrument is remarkably lightweight. This in combination with the nylon strings makes this instrument a amazing choice for kids who are learning. Aside from the features there is another large consideration that speaks of what a nice instrument this is. It's a soprano ukulele. It has the highest pitch of all of the ukulele's. It has a clear and joyful sound but has limited resonance and amplification. This is the kind of instrument that you would use in little entertainment venues and/or for private enjoyment in the home. A few things to hold in mind in regards to this instrument. The strings need to be tightened when it arrives. You do this by turning the 4 white knobs towards you. Turning them away from you loosens the strings. Unless you have an perfect ear you WILL need to use the digital tuner. Figuring that out can be a bit of a challenge if you have never done it before so I suggest that you consult a musical shop for a one on one instruction or watch a you tube video. Once you do it one time it comes naturally after that. The most tuning the instrument needs is when you first obtain it. After that you can pick a set frequency and just do it at the designated times. There is one thing about ukulele's in general that most certainly applies to this instrument as well. Their sound quality increases with time as they age. What it sounds like when it first arrives isn't exactly what it will sound like a few weeks or months down the road. With time the sound becomes richer. My wife just received the instrument a few days ago so she's still in the initial fine tuning stage. Right now the sound quality is lovely and she stated it was simple to play. She recommends using the picks because they support protect the skin on the fingers from irritation. The only improvement that my wife could suggest was the carrying case. She felt that if the case were firmer that it would protect the instrument better from damage. This is truly a attractive instrument. It comes in a dozens of colors. My wife's is pink. The is affordable. It would be a unbelievable bonus for kid or adult alike. My wife specifically mentioned that this would be excellent to use in schools during melody class. Usable by musicians of ALL levels. It really provides so much for such a little instrument! My wife saw Little Tim sing "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" while playing the ukulele as a child. This whole experience has been both fun an nostalgic for her.I was provided this product at no cost to me in exchange for an honest unbiased evaluation.
I am a relatively novice ukulele player, so I am pleasantly happy with this beginner’s style ukulele kit. It is exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. I love the easy brown color. I only know a few chords so far, but I must say, those chords sound beautiful darn incredible! I have already learned to play and sing a few songs. What I love most about the ukulele is the convenience of travel. With the included case, I can throw it in my bag and take it wherever I go, should I be so inclined. It will create a fun campfire instrument next time I go camping. Also, it would be fun to take to the beach with mates and play some tunes. I play a Taylor acoustic guitar, so I am kind of spoiled with rarely having to tune. This ukulele seems to only stay in tune for about a day. Luckily, there are only four strings so it’s very simple.I received the ukulele, carrying case, and cleaning cloth in the pack when it arrived. I was disappointed that there was no tuner, strap, strings, or picks, as it had been advertised. However, when I notified them of this problem, they shipped out the extras for me and they arrived within 11 days.Overall, I feel this is an perfect for a nice small instrument and accessories if you are learning the ukulele.
I have been looking for something fun to do with my kids and husband. We were going over some options and thought of getting a Ukulele because it was various and little enough for my children to test it out. When I found this Begin package I was just thrilled. It was cost friendly for us and offered so much that we could not pass it up. I was actually worried it would be a not good product because of the price! I was thrilled when it arrived. Being Amazon Prime was an added bonus. I ordered the brown and that was what we got. Additional strings, polishing cloth, the picks and the tuner were all great. I was really satisfied with how well the tuner worked too. It lights up when you are perfectly tuned. It came with a battery too so you could begin tuning and playing right away. This ukulele is lightweight but built very well. I feel like this was a amazing and I will consider another one for my other daughter so they stop fighting over it. Next time I might obtain a various color, which makes this product even more fun. I might even consider this as a bonus for another kid or family.
This is a amazing set for the price...the ukulele is a very decent one for the and the tuner works great! Getting a case, additional strings, and a strap was a nice bonus, too. (The case is really only a dust cover though...you'll need to either add padding to it or obtain another case if you're looking for protection from bumps, etc.)Once the uke went through it's initial "settling in" process (a few days, at most, when it required frequent re-tuning...the first day, you just have to sit there and hold re-tuning it over and over again), it actually stayed in tune very well....from one day to the next, it kept beautiful much in tune, or required just a slight adjustment on a couple of strings. It seems reasonably well constructed and assembled, although the first one I got did have a defective fret - one fret was lower at one end than the other frets, so it created any chord that used the bottom string on that fret ever, E2E provided GREAT customer service....I contacted them about the defect (through the Amazon seller-contact option) and they promptly sent me a replacement kit, at no charge, and with no hassles whatsoever. If you're thinking of trying the ukulele for the first time and wish a low-cost method to give it a try, I highly recommend ordering this. I'm sure there are plenty of better ukuleles out there, but I doubt there are any better at this point, especially with all these included extras!
An awesome instrument for the price-- at least, with the present. The tuner is perfect and helped me realize I was more flat than normal. While I have excellent pitch, because of a badly tuned piano I sometimes fall flat in noting. Using the tuner and my ear, however, I've noticed that some of my chords and notes can be off-- the C note when played on the A string is sharper than it should be, as is the A note played on the G string. While this would and shouldn't be a large to a beginner just learning, it admittedly is something that can be quite distressing if you, like me, are much more inclined to message such a thing. It sometimes leaves some of the chords sounding slightly muddied and not quite as pretty. Had it been the full 70$ tag, I would certainly have a lot more complaints. This may be simply a fault of my own individual ukulele and not the entirety of the brand, but this may be something to consider.I would absolutely not have bought this product at its quality, allow alone be praising it, had it been at the full 70$ tag. While it is a amazing starting instrument as I've addressed, you should not invest that much unless you're very serious about trying to learn or are willing to obtain a professional, near-perfectly tuned instrument. As a roughly 30$ investment however? Absolutely worth giving it a shot to see if it interests e strap for the ukulele is admittedly almost useless-- it doesn't hold the instrument secure for me at all, nor does it provide any form of rest-- if anything it simply feels like a failed accessory that gets in the way. The picks are nice and give off a amazing sound when used, which are helpful. I personally don't plan to use the stickers but I do appreciate them being included, as for a beginning that can be very useful, as is the twelve primary chords chart.I would consider paying more for such a product in the future if kinks like the messy tuning were to be ironed out and fixed. Otherwise, really love this instrument and glad I gave it a chance.
It came well packaged and everything that had been ordered was there. It did come a day late, but I wasn't super worried about that. When you first obtain the Ukulele it comes tuned down so there is no tension on the strings. Did a fast tune up with the tuner provided and it sounded beautiful good. Spent about an hour or so fiddling with it, breaking in the strings re-tuning, breaking in the strings re-tuning. This as I understand is fairly common with fresh Ukuleles. I did a slight over tune and allow it sit over night. This morning I re-tuned it again and it holds well. I do have to do very slight re-tuning when I pick it back up after taking a break. I believe I have the "nuts" on the bridge seated beautiful well now and it sounds really really good. This is my first Ukulele, first time owning, tuning, playing anything. Only my 2nd day in and I know 3 chords that I can transition to fairly well for a beginner. I would highly suggest this for anyone looking to see if they wish to obtain into playing Ukulele. The video with this review is on the 2nd day of ownership.
UPDATE:1 starI've changed my rating. After several months of trying to learn ukulele I noticed that the method the frets are positioned are not where they should be, no matter how a lot of times you tune it you will not be able to play chords that sound amazing and are in tune consistently. I cannot figure out a method to create it sound good. It is a toy not an instrument. When I first received:3 starsHere’s what I think is worth s:• Very nice color (I got blue), lighter than pictured but I actually like it better• Truly everything a beginner needs, the fret stickers are a cool concept that I imagine will create learning tabbed songs and whatnot much easier.• Tuner has the typical chromatic setting, but also has presets for standard tuning of not only ukelele but guitar, bass and violin ns:• Tuner is *very* slow, makes it more difficult to obtain in tune quickly when you have to wait for the tuner to process each small tone change. Perhaps it just needs fresh batteries and will be an simple fix.• Very cheaply made, the paint intended for the body of the guitar is clumsily dripped on the fretboard. Also the fretboard has considerable but not too major scratches that were there as soon and I opened the box. The circles around the sound hole and the ADM are faded and inconsistent color. I will contain pictures of utral:• There are no pegs for the strap, so the strap clips onto the sound hole. If you’re a woman you may have an problem with the length of the strap and the method it needs to be positioned around your chest, it lays awkwardly and the strap is just a tad too short.• Arrived about a week and a half late, but this could be Amazon’s fault, not ADM’s fault. Not a huge anyways unless you’re trying to obtain in in time for Christmas or something like that.• It was strung very poorly, but strings are elastic and seem durable so I don’t even think I’ll have to use the additional set to restring it.
my 90+ year old mother wanted an extra ukelele for her "summer" home, as she is an avid ukelele musician at her winter resident (independent living residence in California).... after receiving this one, she (and I!) have worked for months trying to obtain it "in tune" but has been unsuccessful. She's now taken it to the local melody shop and was told that the strings are of very not good quality and cannot be tuned.... although she wanted me to return the ukelele, it's now past the deadline for return so I guess we'll just toss it. Frustrating!
So I have ALWAYS wanted to play the Ukulele but I never had one to practice on. So one night I decided to this one. I got to choose between a $20 a $35 (this one ) and a $55 one and since I didn't wanna be TOO nor TOO expensive I chose this ipping: took 3 days and I received it:)Packaging: came in one huge box then a little box. Instrument was protected :) came with the bag for the ukulele, a pick, additional strings, and a tunerUkulele: loved the color I got (light brown) it didn't seem it actually feels decent. When I was learning to play the ukulele had a decent sound as well. Only thing I didn't like was how quick it came out of tune. But it was only $30-something dollars so I'm not surprised.Tuner: if you have never use done before like me then the tuner is super confusing so I just downloaded an application and now I am able to use both the application and the tuner.Pick: works amazing I kinda prefer it over my fingersOverall: RECOMMEND for beginners especially if you have a small additional and can afford the $30 over $20
Cute small Ukelele! The color is attractive and the wood is amazing quality for the price.Edit, although I still really like the color, it doesn’t actually keep its tune for long. Will be returning this
Perfect quality for a amazing price. I bought this ukulele and it's just as expected. The wood is very smooth and non-scratchable. It also comes with a bag, so it's simple to carry around. Ukuleles are amazing for beginners like me who wish to learn to play the guitar, and this is a excellent choice.
I love this soprano ukulele and so does my daughter! Perfect ok some time to create it stay in tune as with all fresh nylon string instruments at the beginning, but it is fine now. I've been satisfied with it so far.
very impressed with the quality. very cute. The size is excellent for a kid. This is a bonus for my son, he likes it so much. You may need a better string for better sound.
Bought this for fun to see if I could learn to play it. I found lots of guides on YouTube and I've learned some primary chords and am teaching myself to play "I"m Yours"I also downloaded an application to my phone that easily helps me tune it as I don't have a piano or other tuning e instrument is a fun color blue and does indeed go out of tune quickly...at first. I check the tuning frequently, and the strings are holding their tune closer each day.Other reviewers have clued me into the fact that the nylon strings have a "breaking in" period. I feel confident that eventually it will just need its tuning checked in more normal intervals. All stringed instruments must be tuned: guitars, violins, pianos. Needing to tune this ukulele everyday is not unusual nor create it "defective."The ukulele came with a nylon carrying case with a handle and also came in a really neat box that I plan to hold and use to shop the ukulele long term. The box will create bonus wrapping and bonus giving simple and beautiful cool IMO.
I bought this ukulele as a beginner to learn to play this instrument. It came with a bag which was handy to wrap the ukulele while travelling. This ukulele is light and very fun to play. It has a professional look and feel and the strings are created up of nylons which took some time getting use to. After playing this instrument for few weeks, I feel satisfied with and believe is a amazing value for the price.
My son is a beginner and this ukulele is exactly what I expected. It's very portable, cute, comfortable and handy to carry around with the bag. I am overall very happy with this purchase.
I bought this for my daughter who is 4, just so she'd leave others' alone. I was very impressed by how beautiful it was in looks and sound when it arrived. So impressed, that I wished I had bought this one as my first uke. So all are aware, I bought this for no more than $20 at the time of purchase.
This ukulele is very good, the packing is good, the tone is very beautiful, the thing received the same as the picture, the color is also very beautiful, to me is a beginner, its color size and the quality all agree with e is good.
I bought this guitar for more than a week.！My daughter is very excited to obtain this guitar! I bought blue! She really likes frozen! She tried to play this guitar! We have had a unbelievable time together! This guitar size is amazing for kids.
My daughter has been obsessed with singing and writing songs. She is beautiful simplistic so this was the excellent bonus to obtain her for Christmas. She loved being able to customize it. She did obtain a small impatient while glue had to set. The largest surprise for me is how much assembly is actually required. It's not just a screw together thing. The gingboard and other pieces required to be glued (glue not included) and so it sat in clamps for a while. The strings were not labeled or shown had to be place on so I googled it to obtain it to what I hope is right. Beyond that it has been the funnest bonus of the year. She has even been hauling it back and forth to her dads house. It mostly fits inside her backpack with just a little amount of the neck sticking out.
I bought this as a bonus for a unique young girl and am extremely satisfied with what i received. It has everything required to build and play a amazing quality Ukelele. There is also a Youtube video to help. I know building it will give her pride. It all comes in a very nice bonus box. I am so glad that I listened to the reccommendations from The Ellen Show, this time they were right on target! Id recommend this as a bonus for girls and boys. A amazing method to begin a young persons interest in music.
This was such a unbelievable method to present your creative side! I had so much fun building this. It had no instructions, but after i looked up a few dimensions, it was easy! I used wood glue and super glue to hold everything in place. I did need to use a drill to obtain a hole in for some of the screws, but I was expecting that. Amazing sound. Surprising since it's a diy. Of course the strings go flat within 2 seconds, like most fresh stringed instruments, but stretch them out and they keep a decent tone! Loved it.
I purchased this kit for my nephew for Christmas. I was surprised, upon arrival, at the pink box with unicorn, flowers, etc. It is a very beautiful box, and I know that gender discussion is taboo, but this particular young man would not have enjoyed receiving his kit in the box provided. I purchased a separate box in which to put the contents. Since it is a Christmas gift, I can't yet speak to the quality. It appears very nice for the price. I did a set of strings separately, as I imagine the kit strings would not be high quality for the price. Overall, this looks like a fun project.
Our teen is a musician and also an artist so this is a excellent Christmas gift. So excited to give it to her. Not sure yet the sound and quality since it hasn’t been assembled but this is a amazing bonus for sure.
I never would have thought about it, but it's awesome how much you learn about your instrument from string/tuning it yourself! This is a amazing small beginner ukulele that has the added perk of being very hands-on and customizable. It seems very sturdy and produces a amazing sound. I could definitely see this being a amazing gift!
Bought this for 12 year old son for starter guitar to see if he really wants to play before investing too much. It is SO much more than expected! Has a solid expensive feel, sounds great, he has tweaked controls to obtain a massive metal sound. He loves the Whammy bar...stays in tune...Love the that you can plug in headphones. "Blue Burst" finish is beautiful. Delivered 2 days after I ordered. Very pleased.
This is really a nice small Ukulele , both adults and children can play it, it's simple to place them together , the materials for this Ukulele that very amazing , especially the sound is excellent, every time when i play this small Ukulele, my children wish to join with me, he wants to paint a rainbow color for this small Ukulele, we are so satisfied that both of us can have fun this little instrument.
This was actually ordered for one of my Great-Granddaughters, but Grandpa had to check it out before passing it on. Amazon's shipping box was evidently a survivor of a B-52 raid. The small uke's own shipping box inside was blown apart at the tapered end as well. The hole in the end of the inner box was making me feel a bit on the anxious side. Thankfully, the honorable Hon Sing company had placed the uke inside the gig bag and the uke came through all the mishandling without a scratch! The gig bag is merely one layer of cloth, no padding at all, but for a ukulele in this range, a bag is a bag is a bag. You obtain what you for. All that being said, when the ukulele was removed from it's bag, I was actually surprised at how solid the she felt. Not massive mind you, just that well assemble or sturdy feeling. The second shocker came when I flipped the stringed oval mark hanging from one of the tuning pegs and it read: AQUILA! Waaa-hooo! NO string changes here for a while! A uke at this and with primo strings to boot?! Tuning took all of 25 seconds, it was that close. Life doesn't obtain much better than step was examining the over-all condition of the instrument. A couple of little dust size imperfections in the paint, rather like burst bubbles, were found on the bottom, but there were no uneven spots, sags or runs. There is a little bit of paint slop on the end of the rosewood fret board, but the design in blue is flawless. Realizing the sum total of defects were not worth considering (particularly so at this price), it was time to test it out with a small CCR & AC/DC....and boy does she sing "brightly." Amazing fun! The sound is not 1st class by any stretch of the imagination, (again considering this range) but she has that "tinkling" sound that ukuleles are popular for. The sustain is very amazing for such an inexpensive instrument. I would heartily recommend this small uke for a beginning player or for someone wanting a uke that should be capable of being taken along on a day trip or camping. Yes, you obtain what you for, but this small uke will you back with fun and do so without emptying your pocket book. The children are gonna love it.
Surprisingly high quality item for the price. It has a attractive sound even though we ordered it for a toy "guitar" for our little toddler. It has held up well to beatings, being stepped on, and dragging on the pavement. I'm totally happy with what we got for this price.
My mate travels for work and would take her ukulele everywhere. She was driving back to her hotel in a rental vehicle one night after supporting 2nd-shift, when she stopped at a stoplight on a highway overpass and was rear-ended by a drunk driver going 80+miles per hour. Three things were totaled: her rental car, her sternum, and her ukulele. It took her months to recover physically, she's still a very nervous driver, and she didn't even think about melody anymore. When she opened the wrapping paper on her birthday, she was overcome with emotion and held the ukulele to her chest, crying. Fast-forward to 6 months later, this latest weekend, we were sitting around a campfire. She looked at me, gave me an enormous smile, and pulled out her Honsing Ukulele Fresh Basswood Soprano Ukulele, we proceeded to swap songs until everyone else had gone to eat ukulele for the price.
Bought it for my 2.5 year old for Christmas. She loved it. Holds a tune well enough and will likely latest a while. Not poor for the price! The print on the face of it is as beautiful as the images and the finish is clean and glossy.
We surprised our daughter with this cute ukulele set for Christmas and were pleasantly surprised by the quality, expecially for the price. While it's not a concert instrument, it tuned well and the sound was surprisingly good. The tuner and strap are nice and work well. The case is flimsy and does nothing to protect the instrument (other than keeping it from getting dusty, I guess) but that's not a breaker for us. We were never able to search the pick that was supposed to be included in our package, but once again, no huge deal.Overall this is a amazing small set. We wanted something she could learn to play on without the fear of ruining an expensive instrument. This fits ere are a ton of instructional videos on YouTube, but we did end up purchasing some books separately for her to learn is is such a fun set, and I'd totally repurchase and/or recommend to a friend.I full for the product and am not being compensated in any method for this review. This is a review for the Honsing Fresh Basswood Soprano Beginner Ukulele Hawaii Guitar Uke 21 inches with Gig Bag Case - Gradient Rainbow Color by is review is geared toward the beginner or early intermediate e body is well-made and has a decent sound. Not a amazing sound with depth and resonance, but good. The build is satisfactory but the strings and tuners are sub-par. The gig bag is too thin to be protective. However, I believe that at this none of these flaws are a e strings are an simple fix. Just head to your local ukulele and/or melody and have them steer you to some amazing strings (we use D'Addario on our other instruments). If you need support putting them on, just ask the clerk. They'll most likely do it for you and tune it up for you as well. There are also plenty of DIY guides online but if you're a newbie, allow the melody folks tutorial you at the I see it, you have two choices with the tuners. First, you can leave them as is and tune up every thirty mins or so. Which in theory is amazing practice, but might lead to frustration for a beginner. Second, you can take it to your local melody and have them install fresh tuners which will be a large improvement over the stock tuners. In my case though I left the stock tuners on because this is a bonus for a toddler.Oh, and while you're at the melody store, have them present you a reasonably priced padded gig bag or hard case. I vote for a hard case even for this inexpensive uke because the safer the instrument is, the more likely it is that you'll take it wherever you go. Which leads to more l instruments, no matter the quality, sound amazing when an experienced person is playing. All things considered, I'd prefer to see a newbie a better quality uke to learn on so there's less frustration as you go along. However, you certainly can begin on this and then make batter to something better when you're ready. After you upgrade, you can pass this one along, donate it to a children program, or use it for camping/travel.- It's a ukelele that looks nice, sounds reasonable, and isn't sacred.- It would create a amazing camping/travel uke with a sturdier case.- The finish is clean and colors bright.- No. It's not going to compare to most $60 dollar ukes, and I'm sure you guessed that.- The gig bag is amazing for a dust cover. If you found this review helpful, please the "yes" button below. Thanks and satisfied strumming!
This is a nice quality ukulele. It keeps tuned method better than the other ukuleles we have. Sound is quite loud and clear. My daughter loves the rainbow design. Would definitely again and may just obtain one of the other colors!
Ours keeps its tune! Just thought I'd mention that. Listen, if she keeps it up and practices, becomes attached to it, we'll shell out for a more expensive instrument. Until then, whenever a child is starting out on a fresh instrument you need something but properly functional, attractive and pride-inspiring to young hands. This is all that, our daughter loves hers which makes her wish to practice - ETC.
I didn't mind the sound with the original strings, but I decided to change them anyway because I didn't like the feel of them. Once I changed the strings, it sounds amazing! The colors are beautiful as well.
According to some reviews, falling out of tune is an problem with the strings, not the ukulele itself. I just ordered a fresh set of strings, so I hope it will stay in tune with them on it; I'll modernize my review when it is re-strung. I hope it remedies the tuning problem because otherwise I really love this thing and would hate to have to send it back.Update: I re-strung it with d'Addario strings and I couldn't be happier!
I am very happy with my fresh ukelele! The shipping time was very fast~ It arrived within 2 days! Also, I have always wanted my own ukelele. I have always played on the guitar in high school, but I have always wanted to test out the e ukelele arrived FULLY TUNED, and in excellent condition! That is amazing because it saves me the time of having to tune up the violin by myself.I love how shiny and beautiful the ukelele is :DD I will have a lot of fun playing fresh songs while singing along to it.
Bought on a whim and pleasantly surprised. Needs to be tuned, so watch a YouTube video and use the included digital tuner. Overall a fun starter ukulele. What’s in the box? I ordered the green one, and really like the color. It included the digital tuner, a pick, additional string, a carrying e construction is solid, the keys are created of steel. It has amazing sound. It’ll create a amazing birthday present.
the colors of the ukulele is very bright and beautiful. the same as the description. I wouldn't call it a professional instruments, but it's a amazing beginner uku, it much better than just a toy. and it's well made. as to the strings, it used amazing quality nylon strings. it may not tuning before packing, so it is loose. but the fresh ukulele always need to be tuning before playing. so i don't mind this. I'm very glad that the seller also send a digital tuner. it has battery in it. I installed the battery in the tuner. it is very simple to use. I like the tuner; it is preset for bass, guitar, ukulele, chromatic, and wind turally,it has a amazing tone, holds a tune as well as any string instrument should. I've seen a few reviews saying it doesn't keep a tune, but after a few days it should. it takes a few days for the strings to stretch out ! my small daughter love it very much. the pack also including a cotton bag, a spare string and a picks. she can carry to anywhere she want. Definitely worth it! it is excellent for my 7 year litter girl. so I powerful recommend to if you are a beginner of string instruments player or you are selecting a beginner ukulele for your kids.
I got this because I really wanted to learn a fresh instrument. I read the reviews for this specific ukulele and decided the it because it seems everyone satisfies with it as a beginner ukulele learner. It is very light (so it can be convenient for children too). It comes with a tuner, additional string, and plectrum. I am looking for some www services that teach playing the ukulele and there are a lot of them:) If you would like to learn to play a fresh musical instrument, I would suggest it.
I got this as a starter soprano ukulele for my kids. I chose the color 'nature wood' and it is painted/stained on the sides and back of the guitar. The guitar is of average quality/make, comes pre-strung with the four strings, and the raised frets are painted gold to resemble metal. As expected, it isn't tuned out of the box and has to be tuned before you can play a decent tune on it. The clip-on digital tuner (powered by an included CR2032 battery) that comes with it is amazing and lets you set the frequency as well as choose the type of instrument you are tuning i.e. chromatic, guitar, bass, violin, ukulele and wind instrument. Using the tuner and setting the type to 'U' (for ukulele), and then turning the firm pegs, it was simple to tune the ukulele strings accordingly to the notes GCEA. The digital tuner screen turns from red to green once the string is in tune. As the strings on the ukulele are new, they need to be 'seasoned' by playing on it and re-tuning it for a few days. Comparing to my more expensive ukulele, the sound/tone that resonates from it is surprisingly good. The ukulele also came with a plectrum, a non-padded and relatively thin material bag with a shoulder strap that serves to hold/carry the ukulele, and an additional string (not four) although it doesn't say which string it is.
This Ukulele is a amazing beginning instrument, the strings are for the kids hands, and is really light so children can play in comfortably way.I really recommend if your child are on playing this instrument.
I wanted to obtain this to tinker around with and maybe obtain my daughter to pick up as well. We have a pool and I thought that this would be fun to play waterside. I didn't wish to create much of an investment and $36 seemed like not much of a was not a prime item so it took 6 days to arrive but it was Free Shipping. That is e ukulele was well packed and upon opening it, I felt that I got my money's worth. It was wrapped in plastic and came with a fabric (non-padded) carry case, one additional string, a little digital tuner (battery included) and a single red pick. The ukulele was already loosely pre-strung.I installed the battery in the tuner. The + side of the battery faces out. And then I selected"U" for ukulele tuning of four strings. The top string is regarded as the 4th string and is "G." The second from the top is the 3rd string and is "C." The second from the bottom is the 2nd string "E." And the bottom string is the 1st string "A." You must wind the NYLON strings tightly and hold strumming the single string you wish to tune until the desired letter on the tuner glows green for the particular string. I like the tuner; it is preset for bass, guitar, ukulele, chromatic, and wind instruments. You just have to select the right option. Read the included directions as they are beautiful straight forward; they are in English and Chinese only.I have been watching Youtube videos on playing. I have noticed that the top frets are smaller (not as wide) as the ones in the video so I am thinking that this is intended for younger players with smaller fingers. I create due though. I am learning some songs and I hear some resemblance of what I'm trying to play. It is an interesting venture. I feel it is more my lack of rhythm than the performance capabilities of the small blue ukulele that is making the house go nuts. I'm trying...I feel that I'm re tuning the strings often; one instructor said that this is normal until the strings obtain worked in. We'll see. This is a introductory instrument and It cost as much as taking the family to dinner at Taco Bell and this seems just as tasty but for a longer period of ere is the adage: "you obtain what you for," and I for a beginning instrument to practice and fart around with to see if I would like to hold up the hobby and this suits that purpose. I am satisfied over all.
The ukulele is a excellent instrument for those just learning about music. This kit is a amazing value, and while the strings are plastic, that is to be expected of starter ukuleles. The body also seems more durable than comparable models.
I got this Ukulele to test and learn how to play. It is a nice small kit with a Ukulele, tuner, carrying bag, and pick. Everything one would need to obtain started. I watched some videos to present me how to tune the Ukulele and I was able to tune it. The Ukulele looks like a nice instrument to me and it sounds amazing to me too. It is a amazing fit for me and now comes the hard part, getting myself to set aside time to learn to play.
It is a amazing ukulele for beginners like myself. It is light weight and works fine. The sound tune is not that amazing in my view but for beginners it is alright to practice and learn. I love the color. It comes with tuner which is plus point. I would say it's worth buying for beginners.
I was in need for fresh ukulele seeing as a soprano was a small little for my fingers and I wish to go bigger.. I did a find on Amazon and found a couple various concert size ones ,but was seeing a lot of amazing reviews on the Aklot brand. So I decided to the Akc23 it’s the whole complete pack of everything that I needed, a bag to carry it in ,a tuner and a ey added an additional set of strings and a fast learning book which is beautiful amazing for the beginner and the was not poor at under $e shipping from Amazon was in three days.I could not be more happier when it arrived, it was well-made with tight tuning pegs ,smooth fretboard the body has a rounded edge which was nice and does not dig into your arm when you’re playing. The sound is loud and well balanced,it came with strap pegs already mounted so you don’t have to worry about paying somebody to do that, the strings look simple to change as they are there through the body and not tired which I had a hard time before, the fingers didn’t wish to work trying to tie knots. It was sent In a nice sturdy box. When I ordered it I also ordered a Ukulele book 50 all time classic songs for the Ukulele, after a fast tuneup I was playing Some amazing sounding melody that the family enjoyed. I am one satisfied customer and would recommend the Aklot akc23 to anybody looking for a amazing is is one pack not to be overlooked if you’re looking for a amazing sounding and simple playing Ukulele.
If you an AKLOT Mahogany Concert Ukulele, rest assured that you have created a where quality far exceeds the ter receiving the package, I opened the box to find:-Concert Ukulele-Ukulele Bag-Ukulele Tuner-Spare set of strings-Ukulele Strap-Ukulele Cleaning Cloth-2 Ukulele Picks-Ukulele Beginner Instruction Booklet-Service CardThat's quite an impressive stash of accessories to go along with an ukulele at this point. Unwrapping the ukulele from the padded shipping bag I was expecting to search the type of thin, flimsy instrument that you would expect in this range...but I was wrong. It's solidly built and feels very stable. The wood is obviously NOT a laminate with a veneer. The finish is smooth and clean and a close visual inspection revealed no cracks, gaps or weaknesses in any locations where the different parts of the body and neck were joined together. The hardware is attached cleanly and evenly and the tuning peg operation is smooth. The neck feels smooth and the frets are solid with no annoying spurs. Altogether it's a attractive instrument. But what does it sound like? After stretching the strings and tuning it I was impressed. The tone is loud, clear and has a nice "ring." Gentle finger picking revealed no annoying fret buzz and this uke has really nice sustain (probably a effect of the solid construction). The body size and shape allows for aggressive, confident e AKLOT Mahogany Concert Ukulele is a amazing value! This comes priced for a beginner with the types of accruements someone starting out needs. But the actual ukulele is the true gem in this package. By itself I would expect to more for an instrument of this quality never mind the extras. It's solid, playable and has a really nice sound.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone if asked. If you're looking for a nice, concert sized uke and you're just starting out or even if you're an intermediate player or above I don't think you could go wrong with this package. The sum of the parts are truly method more than what you would expect!
This is a VERY NICE ukulele and pack deal. I did a lot of research looking for a amazing beginner uke. I was a small reluctant to online because I didn’t know how the “set up” would be for such a low-end priced item. However I found that the local ukuleles were not set up at all, not even the higher priced ones (the fret ends were rough and the strings were too high). But the description by this company and the guarantee was such that I decided to take a chance. The ukulele arrived in GOOD CONDITION, the FRET ENDS WERE SMOOTH, and the STRINGS WERE AT THE RECOMMENDED HEIGHT. The SOUND IS VERY GOOD, and the wood finish is really nice. Everything is straight, tight, and nicely finished. (I had a checklist of what to look for, and this ukulele passed at 100%.) The included accessories and case, which has sufficient padding to provide protection under normal everyday use (probably not amazing enough to ship on a plane), are a nice additional at an overall really amazing price. I highly recommend this purchase. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
As of this moment, I'm convinced the Aklot concert and tenor ukuleles priced just under or over $50 with all the items that comes with them are indeed the best ukulele bargains on the is concert looks better than my two tenors. I think Aklot listened when I complained about the bird design on the headstock. It looks a lot better now. Also, this uke came in much better tuning and was hardly out of tune when I picked it up the next day. I'm very satisfied with this small ukulele.Aklot concert or tenor ukuleles are the best first ukulele a person can right now, I think. If you a ukulele without gig bag and tuner you'll have to round that items up at a cost! These essentials, and so much more, come with your is ukulele is worth more than the of the bundle by itself. Smooth, nice, amazing looking, well built and comes with the right strings, bone nut and saddle etc.
This is a very amazing value on a ukulele pack that contains everything you need to obtain started playing the instrument. The ukulele itself is a classic wood design that has amazing resonance and is the mid-size ukulele that is most often played in concert. This instrument has the usual 4 nylon strings that you will need to tune. The pack comes with additional strings, picks, a digital tuner, cleaning cloth, strap, carry bag, and instructional book. You can shop all the accessories in the pocket of the case. In the beginning the strings will need frequent tuning... these seem to be even less set in their tuning than acoustic guitar (which is what I normally play). Fortunately the digital tuner works amazing so you can quickly re-tune when needed. This ukulele is an perfect in this range with all the extras included.
What a deal! Please note in the description all the extras you obtain for the price. I bought a related ukulele for my wife which cost 30% more, had NO extras, and sounds about the same. I also own a baritone ukulele and was surprised that the size of the concert model is not too little for my hands although I have average size man-hands. This ukulele is well created and makes an perfect choice for adult or kid as an introduction to your first musical instrument. See my video review.
The Ukulele is beautiful. It sounds amazing and the items that comes in the pack is all you need to obtain started.I really liked that the small Guide booklet has a few songs, as well as a chord chart that helped me begin strumming some cool tunes the same night I got the instrument did have a little issue. I contacted Aklock via the included help contact info on Sunday afternoon, by Monday night (next day) I already met a help person and they worked out a resolution for the issue. (that is a solution in less than 48 hours... WOW)I was actually surprised, they help person went above and method beyond to create sure that I was satisfied with the Ukulele.I would say that if there was a separate rating for Help I would give them a 10 out of 5.Anyway, I am super satisfied about my purchase, and if I need a bigger Ukulele, I would definitely come back to Aklot.
So I keep my Aklot Concert Uke this week, and i couldn't be happier! The value for the is incredible! You obtain everything shown in the photos,Plus there was a 5% off coupon on Amazon! So first to the delivery, It arrived well boxed from Amazon and is very well packaged from Aklot. It was wrapped in foam, and in excellent condition. Now for the Uke, first allow me say why I chose this one from all the others, simple, It has a solid mahogany top! The back is mahogany ply, I can't say about the sides as you cant see the edges It is very well crafted and even has laser carving around the sound hole, as well as the name on the is beautiful! This is my first Uke, but I have a lot of quality guitars, and am so satisfied to add this to my collection. Now as for its playability, its awesome! and the sound is as well. The tuner is wonderful, and you will have to tune it each time you play, but just slightly, and if you watch videos, the pros do that as well. I do recommend this, and might the other two sizes as well! Thank you for delivering a well crafted product , and following up with my satisfaction with my purchase.
For background, I have over 20 years of experience with acoustic guitar. I have recently entered into ukulele and own a Kala solid mahogany body and top concert. Now to the review for the Aklot; I know it is a $60 ukulele, but there should still be some sthetics: The easy engravings on the headstock of a dove and company name are a nice touch. The geometric rosette design takes a straightforward graceful approach. I am unsure of my feelings towards the dove shaped bridge. Sometimes I like, and other times it seems a bit goofy. In reality, they could probably use the time to craft the bridge towards other aspects of the ukulele. As for the color, personally, I would prefer a dark natural wood rather than the reddish orange that lends itself to a partially toy-like quality. Perhaps, the dove bridge adds to this. The bridge is not as dark as the picture, in fact, it seems almost overly dried-out. Although this is all subjective, the build quality of the ukulele lowers the aesthetics rating. This is addressed in the next manship: The workmanship is not exquisite as stated. First of all, the ukulele has a sickening smell from inside, wet glue perhaps. After smelling it, the smell remained in my nose even when I left the room. Is it toxic? One shouldn’t need to allow their ukulele dry out completely upon arrival. In fact, this may lead to later issues with cracking. You can see glue splotches inside the body. However, with all this excess glue, they could not glue the neck properly to the body; in some spots there is a little zone between the neck and body. Next, the red stain is slopped up the sides of the somewhat dried out fretboard. Only some of the frets smoothed as stated. Others are slightly jagged or stick out a little bit. Obviously, this is not acceptable, unless you like metal scrapping your skin. The top part of the frets is even worse. Action could be slightly lower, but it is better than a lot of ukuleles at this und: Of course, sound matters. That’s why we play. The ukulele does have amazing volume. The tone is comparable to other ukuleles at this range, similar, to the all laminate beginner Kala. It’s what I expected and is enjoyable. Intonation is off on higher nclusion: So why the low rating even though the half-way descent sound and aesthetics? It’s the workmanship. I don’t expect top of the line, but the horrible toxic smell, sharp frets, weird fretboard, and unproperly connected neck worry me. I suppose it makes an okay beater, because I kind of wonder how long this ukulele will last.
I am not a professional musician but I studied classical guitar for a lot of years, so This guitar looks good! The finish is amazing and the wood seems solid. for those people who thing that the guitar doesn't tuned Allow me say that the strings are fresh so you have to tuned a lot of times before they are good. My 6 and 8 years old children love this guitar, I have been taught them how to play the guitar. This is not a professional guitar this is a beginners guitar. and for the works perfect.
**PLEASE MARK MY REVIEW AS HELPFUL IF IT HAS ALL THE INFORMATION YOU is is GREAT sound for a beginner guitar! I remember my first guitar. It was a mess, I taught my self how to play and to tune a guitar through listening and not use a tuner so I am not a professional. This is a very strong, amazing quality, standard guitar that will be able to take the hit of fresh beginners who does not yet have the important respect for melody instruments and not know how to handle it. I do not know where poor reviews comes from. This guitar does not have any cracks. I tuned this guitar, waited a view days, tuned it again waited another view days to tune again (all fresh strings on guitars needs to be adjusted till it's stretched out properly) and could take months to obtain the proper quality sound that you are looking for. This is a little guitar and the excellent size for young toddlers. Hold in mind that because of the size of the guitar the sound will have the related sound as a ukulele and not as a full size guitar. The metal strings is very powerful and quality strings.
My child started a string lesson this trimester. Bought it since the first dream bonus on his Christmas wishlist. We checked the quality before wrapped it. You may feel high quality from wood to the finish, from string to the tone. We bet my child would love it and can't place it down.
I bought it for birthday of my friend’s son, this is amazing for beginner's guitar. It is the right size for a youngster to play and simple to handle. the sound of the guitar so clear. the strings are well created and the instrument is simple to tune. I recommend this guitar
Tune the begin strings but don’t expect the chords to be in tune. If you fret a string the tuning is too far off to play. Gets much worse as you go higher on the neck. Note past the 9th fret don’t even sound, they mute themselves. This is a kid’s toy for my 6-year-old but I thought I could at least strum some chords with it. Fretting any notes makes them wayyyy yo sharp (almost a full semitones) which makes begin chords not good and bar chords beautiful poor too as you move up the neck. The zippers on the “gig bag” fell off on the 2nd day (really poor stitching in very plastic). Maybe I’m expecting too much for forty bucks, but shouldn’t a guitar at least be somewhat playable?
Ordered this for my small sister birthday. She didn't ask for it, but was thrilled when she opened it. I'm hoping this might spark some interest in playing melody rather than just listening to it. The guitar fits her size, and I'm more than happy with what appears to be a really nice guitar for the money.
Well. I bought this guitar to my daughter for Christmas present, she can not wait to begin it .this sounds unbelievable and amazing thank you my sweetie love it .
BUY THIS UKULELE!!! If you are looking for a amazing quality ELECTRIC-ACOUSTIC BARITONE (which I have found are really hard to search for under $100) for a amazing then this brand is definitely the brand for you. I have only been playing uke for about two years now so I'm not exactly an expert but I still have learned quite a lot and this ukulele is definitely a amazing one. The sound is absolutely gorgeous, it is deep and smooth and it plays beautifully, the Electric-Acoustic feature works perfectly and is so much fun to use, it is a REALLY amazing for an electric-acoustic baritone, the gloss is really lovely, the zebra-wood is a bit less "orange" than shown in the picture but it is really gorgeous (see images), it came really well packaged, by box had a bit of a dent in it but the uke inside was in excellent condition, not a single scratch. I've had this for about three months now and it is still perfect, I snapped a string but that's just because I forgot to stretch them when I first got it so they were really ternse, that was purely my fault. Overall, this ukulele was worth every cent if not more that I place into it, I literally have no complaints, I have never been so satisfied with an online before! Note: The white circles on the back of the tuning nobs are just stickers, the whole nob is actually chrome. If you like the white backs though you could just leave them there.
Wanted to test a baritone uke with a pickup but didn't wish to spend a ton of money. For $90 and with decent reviews, this Caramel fit the bill. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase. It is not without problems rst. Mine came with only one wound string, not two, so I'm beautiful sure it was strung with tenor uke strings. I have fresh strings on the cond. The action is very very low on the one I got. The nut slots are chop too deeply and the B string buzzes at the first fret as a result. Not a huge deal. I can file the fret or fill in the nut slot. Maybe the correct strings will ird. The intonation of the D string is not even close. I plan on replacing the saddle a compensated saddle to fix that.On the plus side, the finish and binding are absolutely gorgeous. The built-in tuner works well. I haven't amped it yet. The truss rod seems to work. It was packed well and arrived safely. It has a very nice tone and amazing sustain. Tuner pegs work well and it holds it's tuning well..once the strings were finished stretching. With a bit of tweaking I think this will turn out to be quite a nice addition to my collection.UPDATE:. plugged it into an amplifier and the two middle strings picked up welle but the the two outer strings did not pick up at all. Deal bined with all it's other issues, I decided to return it and a e replacement is much better, no buzz, amazing intonation, still no wound g string though. The electronics are much improved although the middle two strings seem a bit louder. (I don't intend to amplify it often, just a nice feature to have.). This one does have a minor ripple in the finish, but you'd have to be looking hard to notice. It also had some spots of unbuffed polish, I just wiped them off. Strings need Stretching but seem decent enough. I have a set a baritone stings ready to go for e second uke was much better so I'll up my stars from 3 to 4.
Very beautiful and amazing sound too. It came quick and was well setup. Caramel is getting better about setups. Amazing strings and well worth the price. If you like Zebra wood as I do ( I have all six Z wood models from Caramel/Rubin) you'll love this. The gloss finish makes it a bit slippery to keep but I'm going to add strap buttons to mine.---Up dateI received this 1-27-16 and on 2-2-16 the tuner stopped working. I had gold colourful strap buttons place on it and they look amazing versus the Zebrawood. Sounds unbelievable and is simple to fret. The added scale length is not as much of a issue as I had feared, after playing concerts and tenors.I contacted Caramel about the tuner and found that the tuner is voltage sensitive. Fresh Batteries fixed the problem. Duh?
The website says this item is "currently unavailable." It would be too poor if it's anything more than a temporary issue, because the Caramel ukulele is a quality instrument. I have been an amateur musician for over 50 years - mostly playing violin and guitar. Two years ago, I bought a more expensive baritone ukulele, which has been a amazing instrument. However, since the Caramel instrument arrived, that's all I've played in the past month. It has amazing workmanship and very amazing sound. I also like the design. The set-up was fine out of the box with no problems affecting how it plays or sounds. When played through a little amp, the sound is surprisingly resonant and clear. Coupled with the tweed Crossrock case, it's a great-looking, convenient combination for travel as it fits in the overhead bin on planes and takes up very small zone when camping.
This instrument is totally unbelievable. The gloss finish is the highest gloss I have ever seen, the attractive zebrawood is book matched, front and back. The tuner (two CR2032 batteries installed) is flawless. The action is excellent. There are even bridge pins that you'd expect on a guitar! The tone is completely incredible. I tried playing the same song on this instrument as an acoustic and also plugged into my Yamaha THR5A acoustic electric amplifier and it was beautiful, with a tone more guitar-like than like a ukulele. If you wish to hear this instrument played by a really amazing musician, both amplified and acoustically, Google "Everything Yourself Caramel CB103 Baritone Ukulele Review". You will see a pleasant, articulate musician named Jonathan discuss and play this Ukulele. I found the instrument by accident on Amazon but this YouTube video by Jonathan sold this Ukulele to me!
I wasn't expecting much from this all laminate uke but I pulled the trigger due to the favorable reviews. It's a amazing instrument overall but I was initially dissatisfied with it after tuning up for the first time. The string tension felt oddly loose and I wasn't crazy about the tone I was getting so I restrung it using a tenor set with a low G and that's when it really started to shine. Plus I play guitar so I don't really wish for an instrument with a lower register, and I don't exactly wish to learn all the shapes in DGBE tuning anyway, so gCEA was the best fit for r the price, this uke is very well created and should latest a long time if properly cared for. The accessories that came with it are all of acceptable quality(again, given the price), although I want the strap buttons had come pre-installed. The fretboard could have used a small finish(fret ends are fine, though), and the batteries required for the electronics should have come with the package, but these things are fairly easily remedied. I would absolutely recommend this ukulele and I'd another if something poor happened to mine.
I owned 2 ukuleles before I bought this one. My first ukulele was a Hilo soprano uke, and my second ukulele was a Kala concert uke. My daughter became interested in ukulele so I decided to another one. I wanted something nicer sounding than the Hilo, but not as expensive as the Kala. This ukulele actually cost me less than I bought the Hilo for (10 years ago) and the Kmise uke sounds nicer too! The Kmise soprano uke was noticeably louder than my other two ukuleles, and I think the slightly arched back is one reason for that. The Kmise uke has a solid wood fretboard, rather than the plywood fretboard on my more expensive Kala. This pack was nice, it came with a amazing strap that fits both adults and kids. It’s a better strap than those necklace ones with a plastic hook on the soundhole. The case is decent, and the tuner works well. I was so impressed with this Kmise soprano uke that I ended up buying its bigger brother, the Kmise baritone uke. They are both very nice quality and both have attractive natural wood color. I know they are plywood, but they sound so much better than my other plywood Ukes they almost sound like solid wood. For 43 bucks, this ukulele is nicer than my 120 dollar Kala. I highly recommend this brand of ukulele.
I am using Kmise Ukuleles in my classroom. For the they are an awesome buy. I am most likely going to more as my budget will allow. They come with the strap, a amazing case and the tuner. I have tried several various brands and search Kmise to be consistently well created as wellas sounding great. I want the strings were a bit better, but those are simple to replace and they strings, so my melody students can make batter on their own instrument! I have had several student's them because they are so affordable and so far they are very happy. I will modernize this review if anything changes. (Oh, BTW- it takes about 2 weeks of playing and tuning before the strings have stretched. I now have very small tuning to do to obtain ready for class...so play a lot and tune a lot and then things will be fine.)
This is an honest to goodness unbiased review from an actual purchaser. Neither Amazon or Caramel me to write it. This is the fourth ukulele I've purchased over the past three years.....actually fifth counting the one I bought for my grand daughter. To obtain to the point, I received the CaramelBaritone two weeks ago and it has become by far my favorite without being the most expensive. I cant say enough about it.........the looks, and the sound are both very nice, as is the quality of components and workmanship......... I'm 66 years old......have tried a lot of times over my lifetime to play guitar...........my hands are just not built for a six string instrument. So, Ive been experimenting with both tenor banjo, and ukulele's and have found I can have a lot of fun and create some beautiful amazing sound with these smaller four string instruments. But, this baritone uke is the best.......the volume and sustain are incredible............amped up It sounds like a guitar........no kidding. The tuners are sealed, it stays in tune well, the kneck/fret board are straight and flat. The frets are buffed smooth........no sharp edges, I love the fact that the fretboard is walnut rather than traditional rose wood.I would highly recommend this to anyone.....The finish is perfect. Now, I dont know much about the electronics..........it may be and it may crapout a month from now.....or tomorrow...........dont matter.........this thing dont need an amp. BUY ONE! See for yourself.........you can always return it.
Since this has been covered so well with amazing reviews, I'll ad mine and hold it brief. I'm also completely happy with this one! It showed up in exactly 2 weeks, well packaged and safe and sound! The uke itself is beautiful. The wood, the fit and [email protected]#$%!& is amazing. I looked it over with as critical an eye as I could and I have only 1 complaint. The tuner knobs are cast and chromed. 2 of them on mine have sharp small burrs that stick up that are sharp and uncomfortable on the fingers. One of them possibly enough it could slice your finger. That's it! That is the ONLY thing I can search at all to be critical of on this thing. The intonation appears spot on and the sound is fantastic. I'm having a blast playing it! A fingernail file took care of the edge on the tuner knobs.I also bought the Caramel gig bag to go with this. The uke was shipped in the case, adding another level of protection. With shipping and the bag only 18 bucks, I recommend it as well.I absolutely, HIGHLY recommend this for a amazing uke at a amazing price!EDIT: I added a few pictures. A couple other things came to mind. One, this takes 2 CR2032 button batteries, that DO NOT come with it. Once I got batteries I plugged in and the on board preamp works great! The other thing is in the latest picture I posted you can see the colourful wood used along the edge for binding. This is a nice subtle touch that looks fantastic. I'm just more and more impressed with these ukuleles!
I recently saw this ukulele on line and thought it probably wasn't too amazing being that the was so low, but I thought for that amount I would take a chance.I received the uke in three weeks and it was well e quality far exceeded my expectations and I found it to be better than my other baritone, which cost more than four times the cost of the ability was very amazing with a perfect tone.I am not a novice player and this uke is my tenth.I have no hesitation in recommending this d quality, amazing sound, unreal for the price.
I'd been interested in finding myself a baritone uke and was drawn to the reviews of this instrument as well as the Youtube demos. I must say, that while I was skeptical of its Chinese origin, I've found that this is an awesome instrument for the price. It took 17 days from to receipt and was shipped directly from China via China Express to USPS. I received it approximately 5 days ahead of earliest estimated arrival date. There was no hurt on the packaging (standard cardboard with styrofoam edging) or the instrument. It arrived in tune and ready-to-play with no extra instrument setup/adjustments e glossy finish was very nice with binding accent. The body is a nice zebrawood laminate that has a slight bow on the back -- thinner at the neck than the bridge -- and I like the shape. Nicely fitted, it has a solid feel to it with a pleasant heft (which may be due to the embedded electronics) and very amazing intonation up and down the fretboard. It comes strung with Aquila Nylgut (passed through and woven to secure at the bridge) and produces a nice, mellow tone with adequate projection for private playing. I have not yet tried the built-in amplifier, but it has 3 tone/equalizer controls (high, mid, low), a volume control and built-in tuner. The tuner seems to work adequately -- I may still be experiencing some slight string stretching/settling. The tuners are closed chrome -- not cheap, but also not expensive. The electronics require 2 CR2032 (PC-style) batteries that are already installed. The slide housing that holds the battery was snug and a small difficult to open, but I like that the assembly is definitely secure.I've been playing this instrument exclusively at brief 30-60 min intervals for the latest 5 days and I'm very impressed with it. I own 3 tenors (including a Kamaka) which I have fun playing and I am very satisfied to add this affordable baritone to my collection. My only two criticisms would be: (1) that the fret marker dots at the top edge of the neck are difficult to see as they are little and the inlay coloration doesn't stand out well; and (2) that there was some binding around to the sound hole to disguise the edge of the laminate. But neither of these will stop me from enjoying this purchase! I highly recommend this affordable baritone uke.
This soprano mahogany ukulele by Kmise is a amazing small starter kit. It sounds better than several of my others that cost more than twice as much. And the strap is a nice touch, esp for beginners. I would def recommend this for any fresh players
For not a lot of you obtain a loud, well-made ukulele. The intonation is amazing up and down the fret board. There are plenty of ukuleles out there for this that will only contain a flimsy instrument bag. This pack is different! You obtain the ukulele, a padded gig bag, additional strings, a clip-on tuner, a strap, and instruction book. The extras alone are worth the of the unexpected features was the compensated saddle; I have other more expensive ukuleles and I've never seen that. I also did not expect strap buttons, sealed tuners, or the arched back! You will also search that the sound is amazingly loud for the size. Beginners and intermediate players can't go wrong with this package.
I received this ukulele latest week. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I haven’t had a uke from this company yet. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this instrument. The mahogany has a satin finish with a decorative roping around the sound hole. The tuners are closed but have a clear covering which I thought was very cool. It also has two strap buttons. The Kmise logo is inlaid on the headstock which is a very nice touch. Included in the pack is the ukulele, a lightly padded gig bag, the strap, a tuner, a spare set of strings, and a fast begin tutorial that is filled with info like how to hold, tune, strum, etc. How does it sound? It is beautiful loud the sound just resonates! I absolutely love the sound of this small uke! If you are thinking of buying, you won’t regret it if you do. It is a amazing pack for the money!
Whats not to like! This is a Honey of a ukulele! I dont think youll search more "Bang For Yer Buck! What with the tunner, strap case , not to mention the swell Backing up by KMISE of there time string replacement, and customer service that is second to none ,making sure your satisfaction with there line of goods is %100! I recommend this starter kit and. Even as a late begin learner with sausage fingers from years of abuse framing houses,Was able to play a tune the very next day! Not to leave out the fact that its a beautifully created instrument with quality throughout! Amazing Purchase! Modernize 4- 28-2019 strings are settled down and shes playing in tune and making my days a small brighter with each lesson if your wondering about a choice of a of a ukulele look no further! Awsome value and co!
This small ukulele and starter kit are a unbelievable value for the price! The instrument itself is amazing quality, and produces a nice bright sound. I was very satisfied to just give it a fast tune and begin playing right out of the box. Strings are nicely placed with low action, so it was simple to obtain a amazing sound on day one. After about 3 days the instrument is holding its tune nicely, and I'm having a lot of fun playing it!The starter kit that comes along with it contains a nice soft-sided gig back with an accessory pocket and backpack-style straps. The uke also has strap buttons, and the strap that comes with it can be used with the buttons or with the included string if you wish to tie it on the headstock. The clip-on tuner that comes with the kit is simple to use, and a must when breaking in a fresh uke. Additionally the kit comes with a spare set of nylon strings, and a "get started" book with a lot of basics about playing the is would be a amazing first-time instrument, as it comes with everything you need to begin playing. It is also a amazing addition for anyone who is looking for a nice soprano ukulele, as it both sounds amazing and looks really nice. The wood grain finish is stylish but simple, and it has a nice rope design print around the sound hole. The quality at this point is really perfect -- this uke is fun to play, and I plan to have fun its melody for a lot of years to come.
I'm an ukulele enthusiast. I'm a guitarist by trade, but really have fun a lot of instruments with frets and strings. This Kmise is a beautiful amazing small uke. My son who is 4 is already taking an interest and can play and sing row your boat. Beautiful darn cool!I think it's a well built instrument and for the price, you can't beat it! Amazing job Kmise! Where you came up with that I do not know!
