Simple story to obtain into and very intriguing story line. It reminded me of the film Josie and the Pussycats with companies subliminally manipulating their customers. Also, the romance aspect of the story was sweet. (No Spoilers though) :)There were a few times I found my mind wandering and had to reread a page or two but overall it held my attention. There were also times I was laughing out loud at what was happening. Especially, a stage that happens in the cafeteria. :)Warning: I don't like to read books with fortune tellers and other things like that. This book has one stage with a fortune teller that I skipped. Had I known I probably would have skipped the book altogether. Just a warning for others who don't like things like that either. (I know this doesn't bother most people.) :)Rating: PG-13 (nothing to graphic, mentions of who had with whom and also a couple of daydreams but like I said not graphic)Medium Re-Readability

This is a cute book. Takes me back to high school days and memories of crushed and cliques. If this application were around back then, it would have been a lot easier. I recommend this book to everyone that has ever just wanted someone to LOVE!

It started out decent enough (enough that I actually purchased it after having read the sample), but then it turned really, really weird and really, really ridiculous. I'm glad I was warned that there was a twist about half method through, but even so, the twist ended up being even more far-fetched (and - let's be blunt about it - actually uncomfortably close to being pro-rape) than I had expected, and I finished the novel with a permanent had its moments, and the first half of the book deserved a much better ending. But the second half beautiful much ruined it for me.

The writing was all right, and the plot to begin with was just OK too. Part II did a 180 on me, though. It got too carried-away. Describing the science in too much detail can distract from a novel such as this one. By the time you reach this point, you are expecting black helicopters to pick Audrey up at any moment, and her thoughts about the would-be, could-be boyfriend aren't as relevant. The book hops around like this, and you're left wondering: "Am I the intended audience?"

I can't believe I for this! If it had only been $1.50, I wouldn't be so bummed. First half is promising, engaging. Then hero development just stops. Everyone remains so superficial, shallow and completely undeveloped in the story. The only reason Audrey likes a boy is because of the method he looks. That's it! And she's the protagonist! Also, the sic-fi behind the Application felt more like a created for tv, after school special. The main poor guy turns out to be an ex-BFF, Blake, (ooh scary, Not!- just @#$%!y) very cookie cutter, no development there either. I thought her father or the Public CEO was going to be the true villain, but they're barely in the story at all. I think it really fell apart, but kept reading because it had all these amazing reviews. It had such a weak anti-clamatic ending. There's some beautiful sinister items that could have really given it depth, but totally got dropped in the second half (i.e., Audrey's father's sketchy death, or Public's creepy mind control).

Clean language and amazing clean teen romanced mixed into a whirlwind of programming lingo and thought processes. Very interesting. Would have liked more info at the end regarding Audrey and her situation. Would have liked to see Public be publicly crucified and Audrey publicly exonerated. Amazing book.

    The Boyfriend App []  2020-1-14 19:32

Guys, I am writing this as a zombie blogger, because I died of cute. Seriously, this book is so fun and sweet and humorous and delightful. I picked The Boyfriend Application at just the right time, when I was in the mood for a lighter read, for a contemporary novel, and [email protected]#$%! the spot so perfectly. To me, the best books are the ones that can create me feel, and The Boyfriend Application delivered, making me actually laugh aloud and grin like an idiot beautiful much the whole method through. As I sit here writing this, I still have the foolish grin on my face, because this book is that r those who don't know, my day job involves working at a company, so I hear a lot of talk about programming and apps and all of this stuff. I feel so brilliant when I understand those conversations, and that was a fun aspect of The Boyfriend App. It doesn't obtain super technical, but one of my best mates is super into application design and hearing all of the ideas and seeing the passion these children have is so uplifting. Also, it's amazing that there's such a focus on technology in The Boyfriend App, because fiction tends to lag behind on the technological curve, but everything in here is very drey McCarthy loves hacking and programming, taught by her father, who perished in a mysterious accident, for which he was, likely, wrongfully blamed. Audrey and her mother, who is a lunch lady at her school, struggle to create ends meet. Unable to hold herself in the recent fashions, Audrey's not famous at school, but she's totally okay with that, because she has some of the best mates ever, insultingly referred to as "trogs" by her ex-best mate Blake and her e characters in The Boyfriend Application really shine. Of course, I've got a weak spot for geeky bands of misfits. I love how diverse the children in this group and in the school as a whole are; this felt a lot more like my high school than most of the ones depicted in YA fiction. Going off on a slight tangent, Sise not only contains characters of different diversities, but she's also not hetero-normative, referencing both and couples.Anyway, back to Audrey's small group. Nigit and Aidan are programmers like Audrey, and she's crushing on Aidan hard secretly. Mindy, though lovely, is teased mercilessly for her speech impediment. Lindsay, Audrey's cousin, is a fashionista who runs an enormously famous fashion blog. The dialog between all of them is so realistic and engaging. They all feel so true to me. Plus, they're so supportive of one another, and I love seeing a young adult novel with such a powerful depiction of friendship, and one where it's a group and not a singular best mate is even rarer.Okay, so the plot of The Boyfriend Application is that Public, a technology company that's totally a parody of Apple runs a contest for high school students to design an app. The two winners will keep $200,000, and Audrey wants to victory badly, because this is her only possibility to go to a amazing school and not leave seriously in debt, since she and her mother have a total of $2000 dollars saved. Audrey designs this application intended to support girls search boyfriends, and hijinks totally ensue. There's this one stage in the cafeteria that just killed me, thus why I'm now a zombie. It's over the top in just the right way. Just don't take this book too seriously, because this is comedy and it is the very end, the book does go in a slightly weird direction. Yes, Sise makes it work, but the plot felt a bit more meandering once the application contest ended. Though a bit more trite of an ending, closing shortly after the announcement might have been more effective, since things got a trifle too serious for the tone thereafter. I also have a few questions about how the Boyfriend Application gets info on boys, and a few other niggling questions like that about the app, but that's totally not the point, so I'm going to test to tell my nit-picky self to shut the hell up.With a sweet romance, laugh out loud humor, and lots and lots of kissing, Katie Sise's The Boyfriend Application is a must read for fans of light contemporary fiction. With such a powerful debut, you can bet I'll be reading whatever Sise writes next!

Not what I was expecting. First allow me say listened to the audio. It was very well done. Now about the story in general, I'm not sure what I was expecting from the blurb, but this went a various route. Once I kind of got my head around the fresh direction I was fine. There were moments I had difficulty suspending my disbelief but I did like the book.

    The Boyfriend App []  2020-1-14 19:32

I’m not sure I’ve ever been more conflicted on what to rate a book as I am with The Boyfriend App. On one hand, it was a cute and charming read with a new premise and a technology-focused female lead–all things I love. On the other, there’s a serious ethical problem in They Boyfriend Application that is never addressed, and I would have given almost any other book 1 star for that alone. So let’s talk about the amazing first, shall we?Audrey is a unbelievable main character. She’s smart, capable, and interesting. She really does have the hacking and technology skills she claims to have, because we see evidence of her using these skills throughout the story. Audrey’s cousin, Lindsay, is a bit of a cliche as a fashion-focus almost-hipster, but I didn’t mind because Lindsay is super amazing at social media, which I loved, and also they have a unbelievable friendship. Friendship in books is always a large plus for me.I sighed over the love interest in The Boyfriend App. The actual application definitely proved to set up a street block to relationships, and this created the main love story move nice and slowly. We really got to see the hero development before the characters every got together. At this point, The Boyfriend Application would have received a solid 4 stars. I mean, amazing romance, friendship, and a main character? Yes please! However, about halfway through the book, Audrey realizes she needs to take the application to the next level. So she launches the Boyfriend application 2.0. Girls can use their phones to create boys fall instantly in love–or lust–with them. This sounds weird, but it’s actually explained in The Boyfriend Application beautiful well, so I didn’t have a issue with the reasoning behind how this technology e issue is, however, that the girls are completely in control of the app, and once it’s activated, the guys have no control over whether to deny it or not. The girls can just press a button–IT’S ON–and the boy will instantly be head-over-heels in love, satisfied to make-out or kiss or do ANYTHING for the girl. The girl can stop the application by pressing a button saying IT’S OVER, and everything apparently goes back to is is totally not okay. The application doesn’t just create a guy look in the direction of the girl who turned the application on–he’s completely infatuated. When Audrey tests the application out in the cafeteria, the guy she uses it on starts kissing her, lifts her up, and lays her down on a cafeteria table. It’s a massive make-out session, and he had no say in it. At one point, Audrey uses the application to obtain a guy to do what she wants because she promises if he does, she’ll kiss him. That’s not as poor was what could have happened–the application basically gives girls complete control over the boys.If the genders were reversed in this situation, it would have NEVER gone over. I mean, can you imagine a book in which a male main hero invented an application that men could use to create girls instantly attracted and in lust with them? The lack of agency would be addressed immediately. When this plot element came up in the book, I went along with it because I was certain the ethical problems would be addressed. If this had been clearly shown as wrong and Audrey felt even the tinniest bit of remorse, I could have been fine. But the issue–this large ethical issue–was never even acknowledged in The Boyfriend App. And frankly, that created me angry and totally ruined a book I loved otherwise.

I usually never review anything ever, but this book was so poor that I had to voice my opinion on how poor it really was. I had a to read this book for a Private Growth and Human Relationship class at Arizona State. I understood why it was assigned but I feel like another book could have been better. The book was very cliche and overall kind of weird. At times I felt like I was getting into it and then something would happen to quickly turn me off from it. I loved the main hero and how she worked through a lot of her issues by thinking about her dad and finding inspiration through that. I also really enjoyed the antagonists, they really @#$%ed me off and created me wish the protagonist to come out on top. All in all I felt this book fell very short of my liking at least, I could see a teenage girl have fun this book.

The Boyfriend Bet (Boyfriend Chronicles Book 2) []  2020-7-6 19:1

Well-written and entertaining enough, but the main characters were not good and immature - I can't imagine anyone rooting for them. As much as I hate to say it, Zoe was an absolute idiot. She created a huge about always standing up for herself and in the end, allow this douche of a guy walk all over her. Every. Single. ant was the actual worst. I'm not sure that he had ANY redeeming qualities? Then there's the fact that this story ends in the most awkward way, with more loose ends than I could hold track of. What prompted Grant's mom to have such a change of heart in the end? His happiness, she says. Because, she cared so much about that before? Why were the grandparents such a huge part of the story? Just to present that they were family-oriented? Speaking of which, Zoe and her brother never really created up, but apparently, Zoe just didn't care. Then there was Lena. Her hero had no resolution whatsoever. As far as we know she's going to hold coming between Grant and Zoe for as long as they're together, which - to be fair - might not be long, considering how fast on the trigger Zoe is - both metaphorically and literarily, because apparently she loves guns and threatening people with them... Yeah, I want I was kidding about that part too. If you're debating whether to this one or not, I say: save your money, or obtain Blackmail Boyfriend, by the same author instead, which is considerably better. This one is a miss.

I want I had read the negative reviews before I bought this book. Sadly, I agree with all Of them. I couldn’t finish the book-in fact I think I read less than 20% of it. Zoe to me was unlikable from the very beginning and my dislike increased as her hero become more pathetic and annoying. Grant was an elitist jerk so I could care less if they ended up together or not. Disappointed in book and in my spending $ on it. Ridiculous, unlikable and aggrevating main characters.

3.5 stars was the highest I could go for this book. I usually like all of Chris cannon books but this book was too repetitive and the pace was slow. And I really, really, dislike the hero Grant. One second he is thinking that he falling for Zoe but then he see's a hot college girl that was flirting with him for five mins and when he comes back to Zoe he turns into a jerk so she wouldn't fall for him and starts a fight. The things I like in the book was that i mostly like Zoe. She has guts, and she isn't afraid to say things. The secondary characters were lovely developed and they were interesting. The book has some pros and cons but which book doesn't ?

The Boyfriend Bet by Chris Cannon....This was a amazing book that I could not place down, I was exhausting, like running up and down hills or getting off a roller coaster. You would be so satisfied and then sad and mad. Grant your typical high boy wanting his cake and eating it too. Zoe the high school girl wanting the famous boy from the wrong side of the tracks. This is my first book by Chris Cannon and she won me over with this book, I can't wait to reAd more. I was given a complimentary book by publisher for an honest review.

Such a cute story of the on again off again romances that entangle us at such a young age. Zoe is a farm girl at a personal school learning the ropes and suffering through her older brothers boundary issues. Grant is learning what it means to search someone he likes not someone his parents like. He and Zoe are thrown together to obtain her brother upset and end up having true feelings for each other. The ending was cute and looking forward to Delias story.

The Boyfriend Bet (Boyfriend Chronicles Book 2) []  2020-7-6 19:1

My Entangled Teen obsession might begin to become a problem. All of the books from their House are adorable and tell a story that I love reading. Don’t expect them all to be light, but The Boyfriend Bet had that unbelievable member Nathan Scott from Season 1 of One Tree Hill? Grant Evertide was basically Nathan Scott from the first two episodes—the one that flirted with all the girls, had some questionable choices, and dark hair and awesome eyes. I tried to figure out why I liked him so much from the beginning, even though he had the tendency to be a jerk, and that was why. I saw the redeemable side of him, so did Zoe Cain. Grant told half of the story, and being inside of his head, figuring out how he navigated through life, kept me entertained. There were moments when I wanted to strangle him, and there were moments that I wanted to hug him.Zoe was special and uber sarcastic. She also wanted to prove her brother, Jack, wrong no matter what it took. The book began with a bang in for her to grate Jack’s nerves, and color me surprised when Grant got roped into her antics in the first couple of paragraphs. I loved her spunk and refusal to conform to the norm. She already stood out being a “hick,” one who transferred to the personal school in city for junior and senior year, surrounded by those that had been there since freshmen year. She showed everyone that she was much more than that. Zoe liked to bake, and had a knack for it, she enjoyed killing zombies, and she didn’t shy away from threatening someone with one of the a lot of shotguns in her arsenal. Yeah, she had spunk. Just test not to like her.Zoe and Grant’s relationship started as a method to obtain on Jack’s nerves, but her relationship with her best friend, Delia, was pure. Delia had crazy hair and a larger-than-life personality. She and Zoe went together like peanut butter and jelly, various from each other but complimentary. I would love for her to have her own book, especially considering her budding romance with ant and Zoe had a strange relationship. I didn’t doubt for a second that Grant was not using her, which created me pause when I thought about the title. The actual boyfriend bet proposed in the book was kind of thrown out there randomly, and I didn’t obtain how it played such a central role in the plot. Grant and Aiden kind of mentioned idea one day, but it was never the focus like I had anticipated. Nevertheless, I enjoyed how that little conversation sort of played as catalyst for Grant and Zoe’s connection. Though, to be honest, they had something undeniable. They were an unlikely pair like I’ve never seen before. Cannon touched the rich boy/peasant girl troupe but didn’t focus on it. I loved that! They had class distinctions, but the main problem was that Grant just couldn’t commit the method he (much to his chagrin) and Zoe wanted him to. Cash played a role, as did appearance, but it didn’t drown everything else ght, airy, and hilarious, The Boyfriend Bet happy my romance-loving soul. The kisses were steamy, detention became a thing of romance, and the intricacies of baking kept things sweet. Even though this is the second in a series, you don’t have to begin at book one. I have no idea what book one is even about and still enjoyed this one. Obtain your copy as soon as possible, because as I said multiple times while reading, this story is cah-uttte!

I can't obtain behind this book at all. It wasn't at all romantic. I didn't even wish the two main characters, Grant and Zoe, to obtain together. Grant was an arrogant guy who treated girls like disposable tupperware. Zoe looked at Grant like a to be won and was willing to take any scrap of attention he offered. Sure she got upset with him when he flirted with other girls but he didn't really have to work very hard to obtain back in her amazing graces and he never really changed the method he looked at her until the very end. Even then it felt like he could have gone either way. At one point he was mad that she didn't trust him and she had to PROVE she trusted him to victory him back. When did he ever give her a reason to trust him. In fact, he gave he a ton of reasons not to trust him. I just wanted her to wake up and realize she deserved someone who felt lucky to be with her. Not this guy. Here's hoping Delia fares better than Zoe.

The Boyfriend Bet (Boyfriend Chronicles Book 2) []  2020-7-6 19:1

The Boyfriend Bet is the second title in the Boyfriend Chronicles series. Its connection to Blackmail Boyfriend is via Jane- Zoe's cousin. Personally I did not like the plot, characters, or e one zone where this book really excelled is with the banter between Zoe and Grant. I feel like Cannon wrote some really amazing snarky and funny scenes between the two of them. Unfortunately, that spark did not transfer into their relationship. I just couldn't into it. Grant's narration, even to the end, created it difficult to believe that he wanted a relationship with Zoe. I feel like their relationship was toxic, and not e constant need to weigh whether or not Grant wanted Zoe by comparing his quirky, spunky, not good girlfriend versus his standard of beauty was hard to swallow. I didn’t like either character. They weren’t believable together and I was more interested in Delia's growing relationship with Aiden than I was with whatever was going on with the two main characters.I feel like the story began with a powerful bang. Then what started out strong, became redundant with repeating the same actions over and over again, with the same reactions received. The PDA & detentions got old. Fast. Yet it happened over and over again. I felt like Zoe was impulsive, which came across as catty, mean-spirited, and immature at times. I didn’t search her to be a powerful hero at all and the fact that at end, even after all the drama Grant place her though, he won the argument by claiming she didn’t trust that point, no one did trusted Grant. That incident in the true globe would have been the latest straw and it pained me to watch that unfold. It was crazy that Zoe believed she was at fault and actually took the responsibility for that. Such a horrible notice and e writing style was amazing and I'm sure if it weren't for the characters I may have enjoyed it better. I'm sure someone will love this book more than I did, but it just didn’t work for me.

    The Boyfriend: A Novel []  2020-1-27 23:32

I love Thomas Perry. His prose is clear, he can make eminently believable characters and his mind twists and turns. This book was okay, but not one of his best, although it had the core of a amazing story. I just feel the editing--or perhaps the current beliefs of the publishing industry about readers and short attention spans--had an adverse affect on it. It required to be longer, so that all the characters could be just that much more fleshed out. Still glad I read it, but...

Few authors have Perry's bonus for giving voice to such disparate characters, but all of them - amazing guys and poor guys - have a deliberate and relentless professionalism about them. "The Boyfriend" is a chess android game between two professionals, and as always, Perry has nailed it.I am a bottom feeder in Amazon Kindle books but will spring for the occasional favorite author - Sandford, Block, Perry, et al. Reading this book reminds me that amazing authors are craftsmen, writers who take their time (much like Perry's protagonist and antagonist in this novel) and polish every word, making certain that the dialogue and plot are seamless, that the characters ring true. Perry never disappoints.I have recently been reminded of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "willing suspension of disbelief," a critical principle that is increasingly bent and ignored by a lot of contemporary authors and filmmakers. Perry, any amazing writer, always gets me to happily - not just willingly - suspend my skepticism and thoroughly immerse myself in whatever globe he has created. For a amazing try of this principle and Perry's talent read "The Island," one of Perry's completely outrageous and implausible books that somehow manages to work perfectly. Slightly more plausible but equally compelling is the Jane Whitefield series.I apologize for this digression, but suffice to say that "The Boyfriend" is a terrific page-turner from an amazingly skillful and wonderfully inventive and entertaining author.

I am a HUGE fan of Thomas Perry's Jane Whitefield novels, and gobble them down in one or two sittings when I obtain one. So noticing that only one of the Jane Whitefield novels were available on Kindle, I decided to test a Jack Till book.I am happy to say that this one did not disappoint. I really like the method Mr Perry constructs his characters and their "expertise". I wouldn't normally be interested in guns or how snipers use them, but I was in this one. The plot is tight and exciting, and the characters are complicated and aspect of Perry's crime work, is that when he adds a truly evil character, it is mesmerizing, and you are always barracking for the hero to meet some swift end before he catches up and does another vile deed.If you are looking for an entertaining and gripping read....get your hands off that John Grisham junk and pick up a Thomas Perry book.-You won't be sorry

Loved it, devoured it in a day, and can't wait to see London and Taylor's stories, especially if this younger man London mentions is her hero...

Farrah Rochon was a new-to-me author, and while I enjoyed this story a lot, I loved the friendship between the three women even more than the romance, which was surprising to miah Brooks is a BOSS. She's a rising star in the STEM world, and works as a computer engineer at an awesome company that most people would slay to work for. While everything in her work life is great, and financially she's comfortable, her dating life has been a total bust lately. Her sister is happily married with a baby on the way, and that makes Samiah wish that happiness for herself too. But, when she finds out that the guy she's been dating is a scam artist, and has been dating at least 2 other women, the video of the three of them confronting him about it goes viral, and her life starts to spiral out a bit. She doesn't have any interest in being internet famous, and just wants it all to go away.Daniel Collins starts a fresh job at Samiah's company, and is drawn to her from the start. I can't say too much about him, or his reasons for taking the job without spoiling some things about the plot, but he was a amazing man, a former Marine, and he was amazing at his job. He and Samiah had a powerful connection and flirtation from the start, but it was a completely not good time for both of them to even be considering a relationship. How will they be around each other every day and ignore that pull??Daniel and Samiah's flirty banter and chemistry were amazing to witness. I loved how they connected on so a lot of various levels. I enjoyed watching their relationship flourish. But, even more than that, I ADORED the connection and unexpected friendship she struck up with the 2 other ladies from the viral video. London and Taylor were boss ladies in their own right, and seeing the connection and friendship the 3 of them formed, after having such a strange beginning upon meeting, was amazing. They each brought something special to their triad, and they were consistently there for each other, while chasing their dreams via the pact they created ere was a situation in the epilogue that sets up Taylor's book next, and I can't wait to learn more about her, and her overachieving family, and her up and coming little business. Daniel and Samiah's relationship ended up winning me over, but there were things along the method that caught me by surprise, and that I wasn't expecting. Ultimately this book was a victory for me due to these amazing women, even when there were aspects of the romance that weren't my favorite. But, I am fully invested in these 3 women and I look forward to Taylor and London's stories!

This book was just okay. Mostly, I enjoyed reading it but I couldn't obtain behind the characters as much as I wanted to. First because most of Lexi and Chris's issues were all stupidly self-inflicted. It wasn't just that they were too chicken to be honest about their feelings. They were both beautiful much actively working versus their own interests. Second, the whole concept of Boyfriend Whisperer Inc is really naive. And her belief that she could franchise is even more ridiculous. I don't blame her for wanting her life to be about more than basketball but give me a break. How exactly did she expect her business model to work once she was no longer in high school? I just couldn't obtain past those two hang ups enough to really have fun the story.

Have you ever had a tough week at work and just wished you could go back to being a teen girl crushing on her highschool sweetheart again? This book lets you do that! Much like Twilight, this is one of those romances that will hold you binge-reading until 3 am. I don't wish to spoil the plot and you can obtain the basics from the publisher's description but I loved it and promise that anyone who is even a small bit of a romantic will devour this fun read!

OMG, What did you do to my heart, Penelope Ward?! I just finished The Anti-Boyfriend, and I literally could have posted a selfie of my teary eyes. My heart sustained a swift kick in the feels while reading this book. This friends-to-lovers romance is everything—sexy, sweet, and unputdownable. My book-loving heart fell hard for Deacon! I thought I knew how this story would play out UNTIL I DIDN'T! I LOVE Penelope's books, but this book was unique and unique. Penelope brought her A-game and scored a top spot on my best of 2020 book list!

The Anti-Boyfriend is the reason Penelope Ward is my favorite author!! This book sucked me in from the beginning and I didn’t wish it to end when I hit the latest is book is in the Top 5 of my favorite books of Penelope’s that I have read….and I have read them all. I can’t create this my favorite book by her, because no one will beat Jake from Jake Undone, but Deacon comes in a close second!!!I have to say, I absolutely adored this storyline and the characters we meet throughout the book. Penelope had me laughing within the first few pages. The texting banter between Carys and Deacon was top notch!!! But even though this story had plenty of humorous moments, it didn’t lack in real heartfelt emotion as well. This story touches on loss, forgiveness and finding love again. Both Carys and Deacon had some trust problems to work e Anti-Boyfriend is Penelope’s recent standalone novel. It is told in Dual POV. If you haven’t been introduced to Penelope’s books, this is the excellent put to start. I thought the flow and pace of this story worked well for these characters and their story. I loved how they became best mates before ever crossing any lines. But what happens when they do cross those n they search their HEA?? What happens when Deacon’s past and show share a n Deacon obtain over past damage to search happiness with Carys and Sunny?? Read this book to search is book is everything I expect from both a 5 star read and Penelope Ward. I don’t think I have the right words to do this story justice. Just trust me when I say you wish to 1-click this story when it releases!!! Don’t miss out on this gem of a story!!!

    The Boyfriend: A Novel []  2020-1-27 23:32

Like some other reviewers who gave this book a mediocre rating, I'm a huge fan of Perry's early work (Butcher's Boy, Sleeping Dogs) and I also liked the first couple of Jane Whitefield novels. The Boyfriend has an interesting, if somewhat implausible premise, but it plays to Perry's amazing strength: setting up a huge chase from town to city.Unlike some reviewers, I enjoyed how Jack Till discovered leads and came to conclusions and they seemed to me plausible for a trained detective. However, the execution of the latest leg of the chase was not believable. To avoid spoilers, I'll just say that the Boyfriend of the title persuades a couple to cover for him and while this isn't very believable in the first place, the unconvincing writing of hero and dialogue created it impossible for me to D SPOILER:Then, in what seems a very out of hero move for the Boyfriend he stays with the latest woman (or allows her to come with him) for no discernible reason: she's not helpful to him or providing cover, and he's not been hesitant to obtain rid of women previously, so...just makes no sense and doesn't match the character's earlier e largest disappointment, though, was the final showdown between the Boyfriend and Jack Till, which was not very suspenseful and over too fast. The latest 1/3 of the book, the air just went out of the balloon. I haven't quite given up on Perry, but it's getting there.

He slowly place the clues together and uncovers a hired assassin who kills the women to take away interest in a hired killing that he has just committed. The assassin moves from city to city and state to state so it is hard t firs to search a pattern and a thread. Interesting story and amazing hero development.

To me, in the mold of The Butcher's Boy series, this was Thomas Perry the magic man again. I will not describe it, leaving that to the blurb on the back of the back to do. Instead, I will just say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. If for some reason you did not have fun The Butcher's Boy series, then there's a beautiful amazing possibility you won't have fun this one.

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

I had such a amazing time with ‘The Boyfriend Project‘ from that attention-grabbing beginning right up until the final page I was hooked on this one. Samiah’s story hits right in the heart and the giggle location as one three-timing ex gets exactly what he most righteously deserved, and three women search themselves as fresh best mates with a common cause and goals. I will admit there was some mental fist-pumping going on at my end when a disastrous date video turned into so much more for one sleazy, cheating, loser of a ere are several things about Samiah, London, and Taylor that I enjoyed. Probably most was the fact that they were all taking no crap, powerful women who were not afraid to take down a jerk for all the globe to see. No hiding in the shadows for these ladies, they dealt with the issue and moved on. They bonded over the event, didn’t put blame on each other – they knew who was the villain in this situation. They created the choice to focus on themselves with a newly built help system in put and mates at their backs as they place the attention on their own needs and not romance. I liked Samiah, London, and Taylor for various reasons but I liked their strength, their determination, and their belief in themselves which turned easily into belief in each other no matter what comes.Fate always seems to have a curveball to pitch when we least expect it, and that particular curveball for Samiah was Daniel. She was done with romance for at least six months but this guy clicked all the right checkmark boxes for Samiah. And she was tempted for certain. Problem was that Daniel isn’t exactly what he’s showing fellow employees right now. Sure, he’s amazing at his job, a basically nice guy, but he’s also undercover and won’t risk blowing his cover. Watching Daniel and Samiah dance around the friendship, the office romance, the not dating and the undercover lie was a journey well worth ying much more would involve spoilers so I’ll simply say that if you love a really amazing Romantic Comedy, if seeing the excellent revenge play out before your eyes always give you a thrill, if you just love a amazing love story with people who feel true and are acting in a believable fashion are your Romance reading requirements then you’re gonna love ‘The Boyfriend Project‘. Now comes the wait for the next title in this series, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for that for certain.*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my private opinion about this book.*

    The Boyfriend Whisperer []  2020-7-8 18:54

I was looking for a fun story and a small escapism after a tough week, so I picked up Linda Budzinski's Boyfriend Whisperer, and it totally delivered. Full disclosure: I know Linda from a couple of professional organizations we're both in, but I never obtain to read her writing until her books come out. I've been waiting for The Boyfriend Whisperer for a long 's a fun plot--Lexi is a star basketball player in her junior year, so her life is one of spreadsheets and stats, scouts and college tours. But she's also an entrepreneur: she runs Boyfriend Whisperer Enterprises, a little school-based business where she plays Cyrano DeBergerac for the girls who hire her. Her success at hooking up couples has her thinking that maybe her future is business, not basketball. But things obtain tricky when a fresh client wants her to "whisper" her crush, Chris. After some ethical and emotional hand-wringing, Lexi decides to take on the client, and, of course, that's where things obtain complicated. Of course things fall apart before they obtain better, and even though you kind of know poor items is going to go down, it's such a amazing ride, I, for one, didn't see any of the twists and turns coming until I was there. The catastrophe is BIG, and the resolution is just is is one of those books that reeled me in from the beginning, but had me obsessed by the time I was about a third of the method through. Got up early this morning to [email protected]#$%!, and now I hate myself for bingeing because I want I was still reading it. There were moments when I thought Lexi's own blind spot regarding her crush was infuriatingly huge (think Princess Diaries, Mike and Mia large), but the tension builds beautifully, and the payoff comes in the resolution. I LOVED the latest stage and I'm already looking forward to the me things I loved about this book:* This is a book about hooking up couples and yet there are many, a lot of conversations that pass the Bechdel test.* Lexi is a basketball-playing entrepreneur who has huge problems in her life that have nothing to do with romance. I mean, her romance storyline is there from the beginning, and I love it. Chris (the love interest) is dreamy, and it's simple to root for them from the beginning. But she's got a lot more going on, and I enjoyed reading all of it--the scenes without Chris are just as compelling as the ones with him.* I love that Lexi's best mate is a smart, grounded, and loyal mate who happens to be a cheerleader, but doesn't really fit into YA cheerleader stereotypes.*At no point in the book does anyone feel like his or her life is over because of a breakup--sure, breakups happen, but the characters hold the huge picture--like living breathing people do.* There's something refreshing in a book where the male love interests are standup guys who respect girls as people first and dates second.I want my daughter were a few years older so I could give it to her. It's just the kind of romance novel I'd like her to read.

Where was the boyfriend whisperer when I was in school? This book is sweet, fun, and utterly charming. Lexi is one of the guys (something my high-school self definitely relates to) and while her own love life may be non-existent, she wants to see others search their real love. Her best mate Chris is a dream, and the chemistry between them kept the pages turning. (Clearly, since I read this in one sitting.) If you like friends-turned-more stories, definitely pick this up.

This book really pulled me in from the very first chapter and I just could not place it down. I love the connection between Deacon and Carys, loved their friendship first and how it developed to be such a attractive love story. It would not be a Penelope Ward book without that unique humor that had me literally laughing out loud from the beginning. And Sunny, oh my heart how I loved seeing Deacon with Sunny, it was just swooney. Absolutely love everything about this book, the friendship, the text messages, the music, the humor, the chemistry, Deacon, Carys, Sunny and the amazing feeling you obtain when you read your favorite author. I always feel sad when I finish because it is over but so worth it. All the feels and oh my heart what a book hangover!

    The Boyfriend: A Novel []  2020-1-27 23:32

SPOILER ALERT - While I liked the story idea and the concepts for the two main characters, there were several really dopey mistakes which ruined this story for me. First, the most trivial: Toyota Maxima. Second, an irrelevant character: the lead hero has a daughter with Downs Syndrome, only her dialog is that of a second year college student, not of someone with an IQ of 60-80. On top of the highly intellectual Downs Daughter, her hero serves no purpose that I can discern, except perhaps to add about 20 pages to the 288 pages. Lastly: do you think it is realistic that working girls modernize their web ads on a everyday basis? I do not. A key plot point hangs on this very doubtful practice. Another weak point: Do working girls invite their customers into their homes where they really live? To place in another way: would you give your address to anyone you meet on the Internet after zero vetting?I liked the idea of the hit man who covers his tracks in a very cold blooded manner. It was a very amazing plot point and hero demonstration.I more or less liked the thinly drawn cop hero. He was intelligent and persistent. Although his smartness was based on what I consider to be very weak premises regarding the likely behavior of worldly very amazing point, believable for a change, was the latest victim's behavior after being told about her Boyfriend's real nature....With a small more work, this could have been a 4 star story. But, I guess Mr Perry was in a hurry, so he only gets 2 stars. Perry needs a fresh editor -- the one he had for The Boyfriend obviously drives a Toyota Maxima on her dates with guys she meets in the Web, to whom she freely gives her address within 5 mins of their calling her for the first time.

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

I LOVE the opening chapters to The Boyfriend Project, and the bomb friendship that develops between Samiah, London, and Taylor. Unfortunately, the growing friendship between these three jilted women is method more interesting than the romance between Samiah and Daniel. Which if this is "chick lit" with a romance side plot is fine, but for a book being billed as a romance I expect to actually care more about the romance part of the plot.I have to wonder if I'd have read this differently if I wasn't reading it in May/June 2020 where the entire US is standing up in protest over police brutality and #BlackLivesMatter. There were several instances where Samiah is explaining to Daniel what she with as a Black woman in a male-dominated career (technology, programming, computer science) and multiple times where Samiah is treated in a method that created me yell at the book "they'd never treat her that method if she wasn't a Black woman!!" One thing that really endeared Daniel to me is a moment where he tells Samiah that she doesn't have to be perfect, nobody expects that and she explains that yes, she does need to be perfect. She needs to always be exceeding requirements because if she fails that's all the excuse some people need not to hire a Black woman again, that people expect her to not know about techy items because she's a woman and she's Black. And Daniel, bless his heart, listens to her, takes in what she's saying, processes it, and accepts it for the truth. HALLELUJAH. He even further extrapolates that as a part Asian man he benefits from the flip side of that same bias because because expect him to be intelligent and amazing at ere are also a lot of cute moments/banter between Samiah and Daniel, what with Trendsetters having all these competitions and fabulous massages and ice cream sundae prizes. While there's plenty of longing glances and will-they/won't-they here, I struggled with how in-their-heads our two MCs are. There's a lot of internal debate and thought processes going on in this book, and I struggled to really connect with the romantic leads. I didn't care much about the romance between Samiah and Daniel beyond how they basically wish to devour each other, and while I love a mistaken/secret identity trope I really didn't care for how this one was is is the first book in The Boyfriend Project series and can be read as a stand alone. If I read the rest of the series it will definitely because I adore the friendship between Samiah, Taylor, and London and wish more of these very various women growing their friendship and building better lives for themselves.

This is a sweet and heart warming mates to lovers, second possibility romance between a single mom and her hot, relationship avoiding neighbor. You'll obtain the drama and some heartache, but you can't learn to appreciate the sun until you've emerged from the ys never expected to be a mom so young. Definitely not a single one at that. She had planned to be touring as a prima ballerina. Life rarely goes as planned. An accident took away her dream. Her daughter gave her a fresh ys does not know her neighbor well. All she knows is that he is totally hot and single. She often hears him entertaining company late at night right through her bedroom wall. Fun times for her when she's trying to sleep and take care of her six month old daughter. You'd think confronting her neighbor about his late night antics would be awkward, and although it totally was, it led to a acon always swore he was never going to be a dad. He never saw himself in a relationship with a woman who has a child. Carys and Sunny changed all that. Spending time with her and her daughter was easy. He couldn't support his heart from falling, but he had ghosts from his past he couldn't escape. Deacon would have to reconcile with his past or risk losing the only future he's dreamed of e chemistry sizzled. They started out as mates but their attraction was undeniable. They both held back, so that they didn't ruin their friendship. However, they both break at a point and it was worth the gamble. Their relationship was a gradual progression. It was walks through the park, stolen moments and sexy times after dark. It was coffee dates and trips to Target. It was silly texts and endearing gestures. Their romance was sweet but their love was tested. The street was bumpy but in the end it was worth the effort. With amazing main characters and an adorable small girl, you will fall easily for this romance. Deacon and Carys are drawn to one another and have both suffered loss. They connected from the beginning and their affection for one another grew over time. 4.5 stars!Every once in a while I obtain in the mood for a really good, mates to lovers story, and Penelope delivered in spades!! I really loved the dynamic between Deacon and Carys. He truly was the ultimate book boyfriend! He knew exactly how to bring Carys out of her shell, engage her in conversation, and anticipate what she required to create her feel comfortable around a man. My most favorite parts between these two were the text conversations. They had me giggling up a ys is such a amazing mother to the adorable Sunny!! She's been through some things in her life and so she's a small on the guarded side, which I can totally empathize with. Even though she's only 24, she had to grow up quick and she's got a really solid head on her e chemistry between Deacon and Carys is off the charts. He's just excellent for her, like I said. He's been through some things in his past as well that really created him and Carys kindred spirits. He was up in his head quite a bit which causes some angst and created me wish to shake him, but he pulls it together at just the right time, so I couldn't be too hard on him. AND his relationship with Sunny was just so adorable! She was a very perceptive small girl! This story wasn't as angst-filled as some of Penelope's other books, and thank God for that!! It was the excellent blend of sweet and sexy, a touch of angst and a whole lot of feel good. The excellent read right now! And their cranky neighbor, Mrs. Winsbanger was a hoot!! I hope she shows up in future e Anti-Boyfriend is an absolute must read!

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

Samiah Brooks was blindsided when she found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her. What was maybe more unexpected for Samiah is the friendship she forms with the other TWO women - Taylor and London. Together they decide to support each other work on themselves, their goals and their dreams sans looking for a boyfriend - hence The Boyfriend Project is miah is on board with this until she meets Daniel Collins - a fresh hire at Trendsetters, the tech company where Samiah works. Daniel and Samiah immediately and he has her wanting to throw The Boyfriend Project out the window, except she can't place her previous boyfriend's betrayal behind her. It's not the only circumstance in Samiah's life that keeps her from openly trusting. Should she place aside her past experiences? Or is Daniel Collins really a small too amazing to be true? The first words I would use to describe The Boyfriend Project are New and Refreshing. For me, it upped the romance android game huge time.I was really impressed with how Farrah Rochon was able to balance all the varying aspects of the story. When I sit down and think about it, there are quite a few, which is why I'm so impressed that the author was able to give every aspect its due. I didn't feel like there was anything skimmed over or quickly brushed aside.I know that a lot of will view this as a romance first. And to be fair it is. I truly loved the build up of Samiah and Daniel's feelings for one another. It was paced and teased just right. It also lends itself well to the overarching conflict within the story which I won't talk about too much in to hold a few things a surprise! But I will say that the conflict is expertly built and integrated throughout the story and I felt like it was handled in a method that didn't feel too rushed. But there were a couple things about the book that overshadowed the romance for me - in a amazing way. One being the female friendships. This is probably the thing in the story I could have done with more of. As it stands I love seeing women empower each other instead of used as competition. Taylor and London and Samiah provide that help system for each other and I think their relationship is more necessary to the story than the romance. It's the touchstone for all that Samiah does. When she's hesitant about starting a fresh business venture, she talks things out with London and Taylor and gains much required perspective. The same when she confides in them her feelings for Daniel. Without setting up these women, the story would have been very different. I would love to see more interactions between them, but I'm beautiful positive that in setting this up as a series, there'll be plenty of time for that when Taylor and London inevitably obtain their own e second thing that I thought was completely on point is Samiah herself. Specifically, Samiah knowing her worth, knowing what she brings to the table in regards to her job and her capabilities and not being afraid to acknowledge this and not being afraid to demand her worth. I loved that Samiah works in technology. I am not a tech person so I'm may bumble through describing things in this part so bear with me. I loved seeing a hero being successful in her job, loving her job, knowing she is the BOSS when it comes to her job. So often I feel like we don't obtain to see these aspects because they can be used as another method to convey conflict or tension in the story for our main character. So instead of seeing someone own their capabilities readers are coming in at a point where they're slipping. Not here. Here we see Samiah thriving in her work even when things personally seem to be going 's also encouraging to see women in IT. I know that it's a burgeoning field and I think that Farrah Rochon does a amazing job in making sure that readers know that computers and technology can be a girl thing too. She takes it a step further by talking about Samiah being a woman of color in a male dominated field. How much harder she has to work to be taken seriously and to obtain to where she's at today, but making sure that we know she is there because of her capabilities. Adding layers, relevancy, and a voice, but not making it seem like boxes are being is is the first book I've read by Farrah Rochon, but it won't be the latest as I'm beautiful excited where she plans to take Taylor and London's stories.

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

The story follows Samiah Brooks, a tech genius whose boyfriend Craig, as she discovers, has also been dating two other women. Enraged, she confronts him in a restaurant where he is on a date with one of the other ladies - the same restaurant reservation that she booked for their date that he canceled earlier that evening. A video of her explosive confrontation ends up going viral on YouTube. But on the positive side, she ends up forming a close friendship with the other two women, London and Taylor, and they make a pact not to date any men for the next six months; instead, they'll use that time to work on themselves on and their dreams. What Samiah didn't count on is sexy Daniel Collins, the fresh hire at the tech company where she works, Trendsetters. She tells herself that she will not let herself to become distracted by Daniel, though that's a lot easier said than done, and beautiful soon, she wonders whether Daniel may be too amazing to be is could be the case as we slowly learn that Daniel is indeed not who he says he is, that he's on some sort of undercover assignment at Trendsetters, thus keeping a heavy secret from Samiah. It doesn't support matters that he starts to fall for Samiah as well, causing him all sorts of guilt and anguish because of the need to deceive given that the story starts out with Samiah being deceived by a three-timing boyfriend, the deception problem is especially touchy here, and Daniel is positive that this isn't going to end well. What's nice is that we go back and forth between both Samiah and Daniel's POV, so we obtain the story from both sides.I loved the workplace vibe in this story - it definitely sounds like the type of put I would love to work at. I also enjoyed the conversation about why Samiah is such a perfectionist — how she has to work twice as hard as her coworkers, being black and a woman, and how her work always, always has to be excellent the first time because it's unlikely she'll obtain a second chance. Unfortunately, too much of this is still real today in a lot of instances. But I did like the book's notice about diversity and equality in the workplace. I believe Daniel is multi-racial — Korean and Black if my memory serves, so there's perfect representation with both l in all, this is a fun own-voices rom-com with strong, admirable characters and a touch a mystery, which adds additional intrigue to the narrative. I thought there was perfect chemistry between the two protagonists, and I also enjoyed the friendship theme that ran throughout.

The Anti-Boyfriend, the newest novel by Penelope Ward is a rich, funny, intricate and delicate story that is woven carefully and thoughtfully!Single Mother Carys, wants to live her best life, but being the young mother of an infant comes with challenges. Work challenges, relationship challenges and the challenge of how to handle noisy neighbors!Deacon is oblivious to the fact that his at home activity is affecting the quality of life of his neighbors. Deacon's audible antics are causing Carys sleepless nights and moodiness...possibly due to the fact that the activity event on the other side of her bedroom wall reminds her of what she is missing and fuels her needs and desires a bit as acon and Carys meet by possibility and become friendly. Their chemistry is immediate. Even Carys's baby daughter can't resist Deacon! Time marches on, attraction intensifies and obstacles interfere, but most of all these characters, these people, persevere! They are tough! They are emotional! Deacon and Carys are irresistible, as are the supporting characters and circumstances that enrich this nelope Ward writes heroes and heroines I always enjoy, but I admit that Deacon has a unique spark that endeared him to me... Because he is tender, sexy and nice! And the steamy romance in The Anti-boyfriend is unpararlelled! Amazing job, Penelope!

This is definitely a favorite from Penelope. Carys (like Paris) and Deacon have phenomenal chemistry in this mates to lovers romance. Carys is a single mom who has trust problems with men and with amazing reason. Deacon and Carys share a related history that intensifies their bond. Their journey to rediscovery is so well written, I fell in love the characters immediately. When kids are involved, I’m usually fast to shout stranger danger and my inner momma bear comes out. I didn’t think anything of the sort when Deacon came to the rescue to babysit. I was rooting for him, for them. The ending surprised me, and I love seeing the journey to self discovery for multiple characters. The neighbor was a hoot, she created me laugh out loud every time. Very nicely done!

I was immediately vested in Carys and Sunny. Carys's life changed first when her dance career ended prematurely then when she became a single mom. When Carys becomes mates with her sexy next door neighbor who comes across as a player, I was wary. I liked Deacon, but immediately felt protective of Sunny and Carys. I loved the journey they took on deepening their friendship and then their physical relationship. Their chemistry was off the charts. My favorite was definitely Sunny, she is the brightness throughout this story. I always know Penelope Ward will deliver a amazing story, and this doesn't disappoint.

    The Boyfriend Whisperer []  2020-7-8 18:54

Lexi has a few complications in her life: a best mate who happens to be a guy and who hasn't realized she has a major crush on him; overbearing parents who wish the best for her but are so obsessed with her basketball stats they can't see the true girl under all the numbers; and a secret matchmaking service that she's struggling to hold secret. This book is packed with humor and "oh no!' moments. For the older generation, think of Lexi as a teenage Harriett the Spy. The story is expertly plotted: I would have liked a small more foreshadowing of the email sleuthing towards the end, but that's a minor quibble for a story that otherwise works beautifully.

[I received an electronic review copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.]4.5 stars. This was great! I loved Samiah - she's smart, a amazing mate and leader, and she knows her own value. Such a terrific character. The chemistry with Daniel is fantastic, and the pacing of the romance was perfect.I enjoyed the added layer of mystery with the case Daniel is working on. It's not a mystery in the sense that the reader can piece together anything or test to discern the culprit. It's just an additional piece of the story that I really e epilogue wraps up Samiah and Daniel's story well while teeing up what seems to be the next book in the series. And I am here for it. This was terrific. Fans of other tech-related romances (The Right Swipe, Can't Escape Love) should not miss this one! (Language, sex)

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

You know what they say, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me," and Samiah was far too smart to allow that happen again. After being catfished by her alleged "boyfriend", Samiah and the other two women he was stringing along, agreed to take the next six months to eschew men, and use that time to place themselves first, calling this plan The Boyfriend Project. But, then she met Daniel, and began questioning their is was a workplace romance with a twist, and I rather enjoyed it. This book had all the makings for a story that was sure to victory me over.• It was funny. The set up premise alone had me chuckling, but there was humor throughout the book, which kept me smiling.• Samiah was an wonderful woman. I think if I only saw that viral video, I would have been intimidated by her, but the more I learned about Samiah, the more I admired and respected her. Samiah rose up through the ranks of her tech company due to her intelligence, hard work, and grit. She also KNEW she was phenomenal at her job, and was not ashamed to claim her crown. I love seeing that in a woman, because we have been conditioned to not flaunt our skills, while men can crow all they want. So, amazing for Samiah! But, it wasn't enough for her to just be awesome at her job, she wanted to help and encourage other women, especially women of color, to reach for their dreams, and she wanted to support them realize these aspirations as well. Her ambition and desire to give back created her a standout heroine.• Samiah + Daniel = Something Special. I loved these two together. They were both fighting the attraction for so long, but the whole time, I was treated to their spectacular banter and electric interactions. Daniel presented as Samiah's unicorn man. She had shared a list of things she wished she had gotten out of other relationships, and there was Daniel, doing those things, checking all the boxes. I loved it! They also had this mutual respect for each other. Combine that with all the small things they did to present affection, and I was fully onboard this ship. Watching these two together was such a pleasure, and it created me want there was a bit more of the romance in the story.• Female friendship for the win! Though they were brought together under less than desirable circumstances, an wonderful friendship formed between Samiah, Taylor, and London (the other catfished women). They joked around, calling themselves "Squad Goals", but they really lived up to the name. The beauty of their friendship was in how various they were, yet how much they complimented each other. They pushed each other out of their comfort zones, and supported one another as they took those chances. The focus on friendship filled that romance hole for me, and I was satisfied it was a bigger part of the story.Overall: I felt like this book had it all. A standout heroine, fabulous unicorn-man hero, sweet romance, and a unbelievable friendship were the driving forces for me, but I also appreciated the author taking on problems of gender and racial inequality in the workplace. Rochon expertly combined all these elements to produce a unbelievable story, which has me eagerly awaiting the other Boyfriend Project books.

    The Boyfriend Project []  2020-6-11 18:41

The Boyfriend Project hit close to home, but in spite of that I enjoyed it. Being in a relationship these days has as a lot of cons as it does pros. One of the cons being that we're living in the digital age which, unfortunately, is a powerful enabler of cheaters/liars/narcissists. As Samiah's sister reads aloud about one woman's date from hell on Twitter, Samiah realizes that the other woman's date doesn't just share powerful similarities to the guy she's been dating, he IS the guy she's been seeing. As it turns out he's been dating not just Samiah and Taylor, but London too. The women chop him loose and hand [email protected]#$% to him. Unbeknownst to them other patrons of the restaurant had begun recording the whole stage once they realized what was happening. The story goes viral and Samiah is mortified. Unexpectedly though, she finds herself bonding with Taylor and London and the women become quick friends. They create a decision to stop focusing on what everyone else thinks they should have in their lives, and who they should be, and instead focus on rediscovering what it is that they wish and need. They promise to focus on making their own dreams come real and taking a sabbatical from dating for at least the next six e universe has a funny method of mucking up even the purest of intentions though because the very next day Samiah has a fresh coworker in the form of one gorgeous Daniel Collins. While on the surface Daniel may appear to be another tech genius who is all about coding. However, Daniel is actually working for the Treasury Department to bust begin a laundering scheme that is being funneled through the company that Samiah works for.Daniel knows he won't be in Austin, working at Trendsetters, for more than a couple of months yet he is drawn to Samiah and doesn't wish to have to hold such tight reins on his feelings towards miah has created a pact with her girls, their Boyfriend Project, to focus on herself for six months. Getting involved with her fresh coworker doesn't exactly support with her private goals, but as with Daniel, Samiah is finding it hard to set aside her growing attraction to, flirtation with, and affection for e two are seemingly a excellent match, even despite the fact that Daniel is having to hold the truth about his true career a secret from Samiah for the time being. Will they be able to create it work? Will Samiah's fresh mates understand when she tells them about her attraction to Daniel? Will the ladies create their dreams come true? You should definitely pick up a copy and search out!

    The Anti-Boyfriend []  2020-8-31 18:0

This was an exquisitely written heart-warming tale of acceptance and redemption, Deacon and Carys will steal your heart from the moment they first meet until the latest sentence of this book. The journey that they take is written with such grace and care that you can’t support but fall in love with these beautifully broken but endearing ys is a young single mom just trying to create it. After a not good accident took her dream away she has been forced to reevaluate what she is going to do with her life. I can’t imagine being that young and having your dreams crushed before they ever really had the possibility to take off. But she conquers each war with poise and dignity. She finds herself pregnant and alone due to the fact her ex is a deadbeat but she takes on the role of motherhood effortlessly. I loved this woman’s strength of not only hero but of her soul. She could have crumbled multiple times but she doesn’t, she stands powerful and makes something of herself and where she’s at in acon is Carys’s neighbor and resident manwhore, seeing as the reason they started talking to each other is due to the fact that he was banging someone next door too loud and kept her awake. I loved that Carys confronted him about it and Deacon actually look embarrassed by the situation. He could have easily wrote her off as a snob or prude but he doesn’t. Instead the strike up and unlikely friendship that will have you laughing at Deacon’s antics, but also salivating at the amount of tension coursing between them. I died for Deacon he has to be one of my favorite book boyfriends of the year no question. The method he loves not only Carys but her daughter Sunny will melt your heart into a is story is without a doubt a MUST READ of 2020, the connection that these two search is attractive and uplifting. Deacon and Carys share something that most people never find, is it simple for them to obtain there, No. But it is a journey well worth reading. You’ll be rooting for them throughout even when they hit rough waters, you will always wish them to be together. This book had me laughing out loud and tearing up at the same time. Penelope opens your eyes to situations you may not have ever thought of and has you evaluating the method you see life and people in it. My heart was full after I was done and honestly I can’t wait to read it again. These characters will stay with me forever.

Late for 'girlfriend duty' before Alex's soccer game, Lucy is involved in a near-deadly hit-and-run accident. Jaxon Bradburn, a fresh student witnesses the accident and rescues her, saving her life. The problem is he isn't her boyfriend. But according to her best friend, he should gic 8 balls and unicorn hunts. Smalls and hero-boy. I am completely enchanted! Everyone who follows my reviews knows just how much I love this series. The Accidental Boyfriend is my fresh favorite! It's a easy love story but of course, nothing about love is simple. Complicated families, PTSD, teenage insecurities and hormones, friendships and relationships. This book has everything I could ask for. A good-looking boy who wants to protect and take care of everyone in his orbit; a beautiful, tiny, feisty girl; a jock-wad boyfriend; a nasty mean-girl who wants that boyfriend; a stand-up, loyal brother; a quirky best mate with a baseball bat. Every single detail, every description, every action seemed to be written specifically to elicit maximum feelings from me. I experienced a rainbow of emotions; anger, worry, frustration, hope, fear, amusement, elation. I teared up, I cheered, I groaned and moaned. I tensed up, I giggled, and I swooned. This book captured me from the beginning and a day later I am still caught up in its satisfied afterglow. Magic 8 ball, will the readers love Jaxon and Lucy like I do? Absolutely!

The Goodbye Boyfriend: A Friends To Lovers Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 3) []  2020-1-11 19:36

I just finished reading "The Goodbye boyfriend". This book was very moving, emotional and inspirational. Even though it dealt with illness, loss and heartache,I felt it was more about savoring the moments in life and living. So often we go through life doing our usual routine and we don't always stop to really have fun life and what we have. The two young main characters endured some very serious traumatic happenings in their life, but found that opening up, filling themselves up with fresh experiences, and giving, sharing music, food, making fresh friendships gave them something to hang on to and hold with them always. I was very touched by their strength and commitment to live their life to the fullest. The book also gave you hope, by pointing out that you are not alone , that there are others out there to support you through your own difficulties. Seeking out help from mates or professionals.... the author was very candid about her own experiences of loss and her notice came through in her story with Cami and Nate. Don't be afraid to live life to the fullest, always hold going, support others and place one foot in front of the other.

The Wedding Boyfriend: A Friends To Lovers Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 9) []  2020-1-22 21:41

Plus One. How could two small words carry such weight? Yes? No? Maybe? Sara knew what she wanted the respond to be. She even knew who she wanted to be her Plus One. If only it was that easy. Sara has been in love with her best mate Nick since she was old enough to understand what love even was but Nick is unavailable. Nick was traumatized early on by his parent's abusive marriage and to him, love is off the table. Love means pain, love means loss. Sara is the most necessary person in his world. He cannot lose her, so he cannot love her. Simple. It's that simple to break your best friend's heart without even realizing it. Now at the beginning of their Senior year, Sara needs a date for her brother's wedding and her small sister is determined to search her the excellent guy, Bachelor style. Nick has created his position on dating and love clear but can he watch his best mate move on with another guy? Is it really Sara that Nick is protecting or is it himself? Can he face his fears or has he already lost her?The Wedding Boyfriend is a coming of age romance. It's sweet and heartbreaking like only first love can be, especially when it appears to be one-sided. I identified with Sara to a startling degree. I was the shy high-school girl with amazing grades and her head stuck in a book. I was the girl in love with Mr. Darcy and the romantic globe of Jane Austen. So I felt her pain as she pined for Nick. I felt her humiliation when he rejected her, I felt her desperation to move on and allow him go. I understand the globe of daydreams and secret wishes and disappointment. She is younger me and I wish to hug her and tell her how much easier it gets as she grows up and finds her confidence., finds herself. because of my deep understanding and protectiveness of Sara, I am tough on the two most necessary people in her world, Nick and her sister Katie. Katie is young. She is self-centered and selfish but she does love her sister. She just doesn't always appreciate her sister like she should. She will grow up. I was more conflicted with Nick. On the one hand, I love him. They are amazing mates with a lifetime of attractive memories. I never doubt his love for Sara. But he's a coward. Yes, he is damaged and scared and punishing himself but he was also unfair and selfish. He wanted Sara on his terms and didn't wish her to search happiness with anyone else. That's poor enough but since he didn't deprive himself of the company of other females, it takes on another level of unacceptability. Why do all of the guys sleep around? I hate it. I am so over their shallow sex. I don't search it beautiful to be a man-whore. No girl should run into 5 girls her 'perfect guy' has slept with while running to yoga class or on a trip to the mall! Who could ever truly trust this guy to remain faithful forever?? Now you understand why I am conflicted! So once again I accept the guy because of the girl; I know Sara wants him, I know he can create her happy, so I place aside my prejudices and forgive him. Plus, it's impossible not to root for him to victory the girl once he goes all in, starts breaking his own rules, and goes for the grand (and small) gestures. It's all so sweet and appeals to the romantic in is book has so a lot of attractive words. Maybe it's the influence of the incomparable Jane Austen but it's inspired. I highlighted so a lot of passages to revisit. There's real depth, the heartfelt humor and pain of growing up, falling in love, making mistakes. There's the bravery of admitting your feelings, putting yourself out there when you lack confidence, the ache of rejection and the disappointment when your dreams fall flat. There's the elation of dreams realized and the fear of tomorrow. So much to have fun and absorb. "I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!"This is the part of my review when I begin gushing about Christina Benjamin and her Boyfriend series. I am easily the #1 fan of this series. Each one is excellent in its own way. Each finds a method into my heart. I fall in love with the girl, the guy, both; their situation touches my heart/breaks my heart, takes me back to my high school days or to my first love. I'm transported into a story of first love, young love, forever love. I'm wistful, nostalgic. I'm always left with a deep sense of contentment. These books are the equivalent of a big, warm hug; they are a literary hug. I fear that Ms. Benjamin is going to run out of ideas but then I quickly go into denial. I'm always going to wish more, the next boyfriend.

The Wedding Boyfriend: A Friends To Lovers Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 9) []  2020-1-22 21:41

This is the first book of this author that I have read. I didn't know what to expect. I was immerse by the tale from the beginning. It doesn't happen to me very often with the books. Often times I need few chapters to obtain on with the characters and the storyline. Here the connection to the protagonist and their story was an instant. My heart broke several times while reading the story of two attractive souls that were mates since forever. I was crying, I was smiling, I was e novel is well paced and I couldn't place the book down. I just had to turn and turn the pages to see what's next.I love how the characters evolve, how it is shown they are starting to acknowledge their feelings. This is also the story that touch very sensitive subject of abuse in the family and the traumatic happenings that are having large impact on our behaviour and how we can or can't present our real feelings. How people we care about and love unconditionally are making us feel guilty if we don't do what they expect us to do. How they think they know what's best for is shown that honesty, trust and readiness to talk about problems in relationship is the best thing we can do to create it work. To war for it not with it.I was overjoyed how the story ended and epilogue... it just created my heart swell with happiness.

The Holiday Boyfriend: A Second Chance Christmas Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 4) []  2020-1-18 19:38

I just finished reading this book and really enjoyed it. It truly place me in the Holiday spirit. It was very nostalgic of a lot of fun Christmas traditions with my Kids as they grew up picking out live Christmas trees that barely fit in the room. It also brought back fond memories of going to Rockefeller Center in NYC with my parents and sisters when we were young filled with all the magic of the city. It was a fun uplifting read mixed with romance, forgiveness, truth, love and always having the courage to follow your dreams.

Received in exchange for a honest review.Overall this was cute and sweet. Lots of misunderstandings due to lack of communication but in the end we obtain a unbelievable romance with bumps along the e parents in this are horrendous. Will’s take the cake. I mean they can’t even come home at the holidays. He seems to be left alone and being raised by Sharon who works for his parents. Emma’s dad was not that amazing either. he did test to change at the end but still the method he was with her at the beginning wow. just wow. Will and Colin you instalove. Colin is so precocious. Will is the excellent sweet adorable and understanding guy. I love how he brings Fresh York alive for colin and Emma. He does it not because he wants to impress but because he wants to support Emma obtain to know her soon to be brother. He wants them to have a unbelievable Christmas. Something he isn’t going to obtain because his family has beautiful much forgotten him. Will is so sweet, kind, generous, forgiving and his idea at what is the excellent bonus is wonderful. To him a tradition is better than any bonus can buy. The christmas tree and staring up in it is examples of this.Emma takes time to obtain used to. She is stubborn and doesn’t give people a possibility to explain things. She goes by what she sees on social media when it came to Will and not what she knew of him. She broke his heart because of social media and when she saw him again treated him really badly at first. She ran hot and cold with him and truly confused Will.Poor guy but he knew what he wanted and always has so he was patient and hoped that Emma would see him for who he is and allow him in again. Emma learns that you can’t always believe what is on social media and that talking to someone and asking the person is the only method to go because it helps avoid misunderstandings and possible e story is sweet and precious when it comes to Will and his views on family and love. He is so kind and loyal. at the end I loved how he stood up to those causing toxicity in his life and harming his possibility to have love and a future with Emma. The story intoxicates you into the warm fuzzies with the possibility to see two best mates finally admit their feelings, allow go of the past pain and take a possibility at love and brings Xmas in NY alive for you. The Stand-In Boyfriend: A Boy Next Door Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 5) []  2020-1-18 19:52

I have a fresh swoon-worthy book boyfriend and his name is Parker Reed. Christina Benjamin is making a habit out of creating awesome characters that I can't support but fall in love with. Parker is amazingly sweet and so is Beth, they deserved to be together!Beth is the girl next door and her family took care of Parker and his Father when his Mother died suddenly. Beth and Parker had a crush on each other since they were kids, the issue was neither one knew. The kept it a secret from the other just in case the feelings weren't mutual. As Parker said 'he would rather have Beth as a mate than not at all'. Then Jared came in the picture and swept Beth off her feet. Can Parker prove to her that he isn't what he seems? Will he finally tell her how he really feels? All I wish to do is gush about how much I adored Parker and Beth, but mostly Parker. They were just so stinking cute! How could Beth ever even think to date anyone else when Parker was right next door? I mean, really? And to go for Jared of all people. Gross. Also while on the subject of not good people can we talk about Caroline for a second? She was beautiful not good and I know in her own twisted method she was trying to support Beth but she went about it in the WRONG way! I'm not sure there was a worse method she could have gone about that. It must be nice to have that kind of and power, though.Honestly, I would also read a book about Beth's sister Brenna. She seemed amazing and like she has a story to tell too. Plus if it wasn't for her wedding Parker and Beth may still be just mates and pinning after each other in secret. I don't think I could have survived if I had that a lot of sisters, though. One stealing my clothes was enough, is is one of the best contemporary series' I've ever read! You can read them in any because they are written as if they were stand alone's.

The friendship and love that develops between Hazel and James was sweet, and the connections between the characters and their private demons was well developed. Also that James' lack of wisdom made a complication that became ilt is a strong emotion, and it was well explored in this story. Joy Wright. This summer is necessary for her. She's been selected as Lead Turret Lifeguard for the ACE Swim Program. It's a well-deserved position that has a much-needed salary. Hayden Anderson is the son of a controlling billionaire and Olympic hopeful competing in ACE. Jo (Joy) and Hayden are both survivors, both broken, both closed off to the possibilities of an HEA. Everything changes with a dare, a kiss. But any relationship between staff and competitors is forbidden. Plus, these two come with more complications than can be imagined; tragic pasts, show demands, future threats, overprotective brothers, and a pushy best friend. Finally, this is summer and summer flings aren't meant to last. You can't let yourself to become attached. Unfortunately, hearts don't follow rules. Sometimes summers are meant to latest e Summer Boyfriend is set on a attractive island in Hawaii. This backdrop must be mentioned because it sets the scene and the tone to such a degree that it's almost a hero itself. The characters are shaped by the island; the attitudes, their closeness, shared history. They have few secrets. Family is important. History has a firm grasp on the day to day, on one's reputation, on one's expectations. Visitors are seen as outsiders. They come and they go. The island e Summer Boyfriend joins one of the best series on the YA market. It's a departure from the others. Jo and Hayden seem older. Their age is the same but they seem much older due to their lives. The subjects in this book are more serious, more adult. I search it interesting that the most significant of the Boyfriend Series starts as a summer fling. There is no worry over the mean girl in class or picking the excellent dress for a party. Life has not been simple on either of these two characters and their focus is different. Both have survived loss, heartbreak. Both have survived but remain damaged. It's simple to fall in love with Jo and Hayden, to worry about them, fear for them. It's so simple to see how they each might be too bruised by life to remember to live. This is a story of family. A story of life. A story of second chances. Jo and Hayden must learn to trust, to feel, to live again. Jo Hayden everything he never dared to dream of and Hayden gave her back so much that she thought that she had lost forever. This is a story of fear, of letting go, being brave. It's a love story. It's attractive and heartfelt. The best summer ever.

I don't think there was a hero in the story that wasn't needed, they all served a e topics touched in the story, PTSD, guilt, etc. were weaved in such a method that you feel incredibly blessed to see how they worked out. I really enjoyed reading a story that you can relate to the characters in what they are going through and what twists and turns life throws their way. Lucy and Jaxson have both gone through a lot in their young lives and are trying to search their way. Lucy needs amazing changes in her life because she isn’t treated well living with her assigned guardians who happen to be the parents of her arrogant and self centered boyfriend Alex. Jaxson happens upon a vehicle accident and has flashbacks of the one he was in when he lost his mother. He is still holding on to the thought that he couldn’t save his mom. Once he snaps out of the daze of the flashbacks he rescues Lucy from her Jeep before her vehicle goes up in flames. Was it fate that connected Jaxson and Lucy by the accident. Jaxson sticks by Lucy after the accident to create sure she is okay and they become friends. I recommend you read this book to see what these powerful resilient young adults push through and how things turn out for them. Was it fate that brought Jaxson into Lucy’s life to present her that there are amazing caring young men out there and not all are as arrogant and self centered as Alex? Who will end up with Lucy’s heart?I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My High School Christmas Boyfriend: A Sweet YA Holiday Romance (The Boyfriend Series Book 1) []  2020-1-11 19:38

-‘IF I HAD A WAVERING belief about life being unfair and unjust and nobody looking out for me and my family, in one extraordinary day, it was all erased.’-Written in alternating points of view, this very fast-paced, sweet, clean teen romance has a tip of the Brit in it (non-British people will pick up on the expressions) and it’s a very heartwarming story. It’s novella length and a fast read, so ideal for when you’ve just got a limited time to read. It’s priced accordingly too, so it won’t break the bank. A fun, spunky romance with a few interesting twists and turns, that is suitable for all ages. Despite its short length it’s a complete story and the reader doesn’t feel as though anything is missing. I really liked it and I recommend it!-‘My heart bursts and sings with hope. Maybe Aiden was forced to depart quickly, perhaps he didn’t mean to abandon me. And most of all, perhaps that forehead kiss wasn’t meaningless.’-

The Winter Boyfriend: A Small Town Christmas Romance (Prep School Boyfriend Academy Book 10) []  2020-1-11 19:21

What I liked-It was like a Hallmark Christmas movie: Now, for anyone who knows me, my favorite holiday is Christmas, and one of my favorite things to do during this season is parking myself on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and a plate full of fudge and cookies and watch Hallmark Christmas films all day (literally all day). This book read just like one of these movies. The family literally lives on a Christmas tree farm. I loved it from the very beginning. I know it may be a couple weeks after Christmas that I am reading and reviewing this book but I felt the spirit of the holiday strongly while I was reading this. From the log cabin in the middle of a snowy forest to the constant strings of Christmas lights in every scene, this book extended one of my favorite holidays in the best way. Also, I wish to test every flavor of hot cocoa that was discussed in this novel! Peppermint mocha, gingerbread hot cocoa, cinnamon horchata hot cocoa! I mean come on!!!-Family: This book held powerful themes of family. Chloe and her sister have such a powerful relationship that goes through rocky times but still remains strong. It reminds me of my sister and me when she went across the country to college. The entire Price family unit is powerful and only becomes stronger with the three fresh additions to the family (You will know what I mean when you read the book 😉 teehee). Ethan gained so much more than a relationship with Chloe, he gained a family and it was a attractive thing to read.-The characters: You may be sick of hearing this but… I love Christina Benjamin’s characterization. Something I discovered in this read, that as always show in her other novels, is that there is always something fresh to explore about these characters. Every single hero has a depth that is never revealed fully until the end of the story, which makes these books interesting to read and definite page-turners. And of course, I even felt an attachment to the antagonist, Brady. I mean he is a harmless young man who will grow out of his stupid ways and I hope he finds himself in a amazing relationship.-The ugly Christmas sweaters (What can I say, I have a spot for them)What I did not like-Beginning: I will say, it did take me almost half of the book to become attached to these characters, but once I was, I was hooked. By the end, I was flipping the pages, wanting to know what will happen in the end.Overall…I loved this book. It was a super short and sweet read that is excellent to read while cozied up under a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa, coffee, tea, or anything else. I recommend this book at any time of the year, but especially during the Winter!“They are bookends, designed to keep each other up the method no one else could.”– Christina Benjamin, The Winter Boyfriend
