This is an interesting read. I've been interested in foraging for a long time. This book has a lot of info about how to determine edibility of plants. It also is a very simple read and has a lot of problem lies in that the author does not provide any specifics. I have another book that goes into depth on plant types and their edibility. I was hopeful this would also provide more specific information. This is more of a general guideline on how to forage.

Nice hard cover books but disappointed with illustrations. It is very bland! They could have really added to the quality of this book by adding photos.

I don't usually review products I buy, but I am compelled to review this one. This book is everything I hoped it would be! The design is new and direct, and the content is really valuable and simple to follow. I'd say this is a book you can definitely judge by its IT!

Got as a Christmas bonus for a person is really into outdoors activities. Went over REALLY well. He loved it! Plus, the texture on the book feels like tree bark, which is super cool. Legit a amazing gift! Ranges from things you can pick and eat to various ways to trap animals. Super also has amazing illustrations to present you things, which makes it much more readable and enjoyable.

I read this book years ago. Where and how I lost it I do not know. Because of the political environment I joked I had better review my military survival skills. Ergo, back to Bradford's is is not the end all survival book. But it is darn close. I would think those Alaska survival contestants would do well to study the tip presented here.Everyone should have some level of survival skill. We may not wish to live off the land. But, who knows.

The Trapper's Bible: The Most Complete Guide on Trapping and Hunting Tips Ever []  2020-1-10 19:19

This book is a amazing history lesson of the techniques from the pastimes. It was very informative, however for the beginning trapper like myself I felt somewhat allow down by the book. It didn’t hit on very much of the modern day traps and snares. The lures recipie section was interesting, however the animals section is lacking for sure at least for my geographical globe location. Trapping mountain lion, Grizzly Bear, and Tigers is not going to happen in the Southeastern US. OVERALL not a poor book, I learned a lot, just not a lot of practical info for myself.

This book was amazing i'm fairly fresh to trapping so i wasn't sure how it would go. There are easy traps for the beginner and it gets to more advanced traps for the expert. It covers all from primitive log traps to the modern day steel traps. The only issue i had with this book is that it didn't have very much on the smaller android game such as squirrels, rabbits, etc but did have a whole bunch of items on bear, tiger, mountain lion, etc which i would not need to trap personally.

They packed a punch of first and second hand knowledge in this small book. I read the beginning half, the traps for animals in my area, and the end. The The middle zone is all about species specific traps. It was a amazing all around book.

Bought this for a bonus for my husband after he has mentioned he’d like to learn trapping and such. Since then the not good dogs and cat have fallen prey to his trap building, nothing serious though. A few of the neighborhood squirrels are wary of the yard now. Hubby built a trap to catch the neighbor snagging wood from our woodpile, neighbor doesn’t touch our wood anymore. This book was a amazing investment and keeps the hubby busy and the neighbors away.

I purchased this book to round out my historical library on hunting and trapping techniques (most of which are at risk of being lost in time due to modern-day sensibilities about animal cruelty). What was interesting was to search diagrams for "primitive" traps and snares that I've seen on some of the better (i.e., less sensationalistic) reality tv shows such as "Survivorman" or "Out of the Wild: Alaskan Wilderness." You won't search much on these in modern-day "wilderness survival" books, or they only mention them in passing. While it would take an poor lot of trial-and-error to recreate any of the actual traps as demonstrated in this book from the diagrams alone, there is a lot of interesting info about the best traps and lures for different species that you might need to hunt should SHTF. The information, while a compilation of old articles, has been laid out by topic in a logical, easy-to-find manner. It has piqued my interest enough, reading the voices of these old men who REALLY trapped (versus reality tv contestants) that I will probably research the subject of primitive traps further (since I like to wilderness hike and might someday need to know).I deducted a star because there were a lot of mispellings. It was hard to tell if those were in the original articles, or a gremlin introduced by the author.

I gave this to my best mate for Christmas. He said, "This Lost Arts book you got is fantastic. It's a small archaic, but most of my favorite gear is from the time it was written, as well as my favorite techniques, so it works. And the writing is really fun old formal script". He's beautiful picky about books and not one to describe things as unbelievable or fun very often so it must be beautiful amazing. He's 34 and fairly old school when it comes to most everything outdoor similar so it worked. I don't think someone who is looking for new/improved/latest & greatest would glean much.Just an FYI - Some of the hunting techniques (ie, some types of trapping) and chemicals (because they can be used for bombs) referenced in the book are now illegal and some of the equipment is not readily available.

I'm about 3 quarters of the method through now, it's a amazing read. I don't own his other books so I don't have a reference point there but I have read others saying that there's some repetition between them, which I'd think could be expected. It's why I chose this 1 actually since it addresses my interests beyond bushcraft. I think it's beautiful well-written and has some amazing ideas within, recommended.

Nice small book with a lot of info, and well organized. Based on the title, my expectation was that there would be more survival-style hints and tricks; this book is geared my toward those going out on backpacking or camping expeditions, with a lot of ideas for things to purchase and take along. For those readers looking for such a guide, the author has included a lot of useful e illustrations are excellent.

This is the Third book in Dave Canterbury's, Bushcraft series. The book is well written, yet incorporates a number word for word paragraphs and info contained in his first two Bushcraft books. I think the Illustrations of traps could be better as well. Canterbury's Primary and Advanced Bushcraft Books were excellent. However illustrations of knots could also better as well, in these earlier books.

Dave Canterbury also has been one of my favorites & I'm describing on his YouTube Channel.... With his Bushcraft survival techniques & old school survival & camping. He is a amazing survival expert as well as a book writer and author. I have bought all of his Bushcraft series and looking forward to his upcoming release Here on Amazon. I honestly can say I have learned a lot and I'm very confident with his knowledge and learning from reading these books & as well his YouTube channel.

I was so satisfied when my order arrived but was so disappointed after I started reading the books. First, his recipe for what he calls pemmican is NOT pemmican! Pemmican is created with tallow and NOT lard! Second, it is created with dry lean meat and not beef jerky! Second, his reloading info may just obtain you killed or injured. Third, some of his traps will not work. Fourth, much of the info is redundant. Why do I need the same info repeated in more than one book? Fith, the first aid information is rather light. Sith, there is very small info on edible plants. Yes, there is some info but it is scant. Why would a book on bushcraft have no info about preparing pelts? The author did lie about his military service and as an troops brat that upsets me to no end. The book does have some amazing info but it is nothing better than a starting point. I would recommend some of the following, "10 Bushcraft Books", The books by Creek Stwert and "Shacks, Shanties" instead of this book. If it was not for the fact that I am both a reader and book collector I would have sent this book back for a refund.

This series doesn't read smoothly - its painful to hold going. Every now and then I learn something fresh that is useful. A lot of the book I am currently reading is just opinion on what someone likes or doesn't like which is not that helpful to me. I guess true bush craft just depends on you going out and making some mistakes - you learn quick what works or doesn't work when you are e best tip I can offer is begin with short trips, stay DRY if its cold out, spend time preparing a amazing camp and THINK about where you set up a tent and sleep... Insects and weather can create your choice very interesting. Always have a sturdy knife, a compass (and know how to use it), a topographical map, and lots of clean water. Dress in layers because while backpacking you can go from freezing cold to too hot as the day progresses and you change in altitude.Another hint - ALWAYS have an exit plan. You just never know when happenings are going to create your trip more than just interesting - Fire, Flood, Injury, Criminals... Always know how you will remove yourself from an zone if your path in or forward become untenable.

Well, theres alot of common knowledge in these books, and some items to create you say, "huh, that should work." All in all, a amazing buy. I got these to brush up a bit myself, and support present my family some basic/intermediate survival skills on our next camping trip. For my needs these are perfect. Plus, even if you don't need them, we all know "that guy" (or girl) who would love this set as a gift. To the survival purest, the hard core 4 week camper, would I advise to buy?? No. But the average Joe or us who knows a small bit but could know more... buy it. Worth the money, and amazing info for the novice or someone who is interested in the art of bushcraft.

If your a beginner to Bushcraft and wilderness, then these are a "Must-Have". If your intermediate then your still bound to learn a lot from these books and they are little enough to place the whole set in your package with plenty of room for everything else. When I "Pack-Out" I wear Web Gear, 75L package and a 2 Liter waist pack. It's better to have a larger package and not fill it then have a 50L package and not have enough room for your essentials. Secure your sleeping bag to the strapping on the bottom of your pack. Your completed package (when worn) should extend from the middle of your head to no lower than your knee (including your sleeping bag) and only weigh about 50 lbs. (which isn't much).

I would like to begin if by saying that I have never written a review before, but after purchasing and reading these books I felt like I required to. I bought this kit because I'm an outdoorsy person and know quite a bit but was looking for an interesting read and to maybe puck up some tips. Bushcraft 101 and Advanced Bushcraft were okay . They gave a lot of insight but were poorly written and some concepts/,techniques were not clearly explained. But it is a field tutorial so I will forgive it a bit for that. However the wilderness firstaid and the trapping, gathering and cooking books are not just bad,but they are dangerous. I belive these books were just cash grabs because there was no care or research place into these. There were several examples in the first aid book that would cause far more hurt to the victim is using his advice( ie. Using a venom extractor which he recommends, actually causes more hurt to the tissue and does not extract enough venom to be meaningful or helpful). Canterbury also just uses old retold info instead of using properly sited and real information. Other examples of this in the cooking book is saying milkweed is inediable which was old folk lore, it is ediable in every scene of the plant, to harmless but stupid things like saying you cannot use metal utensils in a cast iron pan. Being someone who has consumed milkweed several times and enjoyed it and uses a cast iron pan and metal utincels religiously this is frustrating to say the least. I regret buying this set because I feel like I'm handing over my cash for lazy , unrefined, and untruthful info that could cause actual hurt to actual people who don't know better. If you must buy this set don't waste your cash on the first aid and cooking, but buy the 101 and advanced. However if you do not like to promote false info do not buy this at all. As far as cooking books go. , I highly recommend books by Samuel Thayer for wild ediables if you live in the Midwest/ northeast.

Lots of commonly available info all in a single set. Depending on your experience level it could be overwhelming or common knowledge but even in the most remedial case having it in print could still be helpful. Anyone who has encountered stressful situations can be reassured by having a backup to their brain bank. As far as the writing goes, it is written at a very primary level with terms and phrases that should not alienate the most novice. Even if you are not planning for the end of the globe anyone who spends time outdoors can benefit for this. You never know when you or a hiking partner could obtain damage or when your vehicle could break down in a remote location.

Ok, if you were never in the "Scouts" or you were but didn't actually learn anything other then how to correctly fold a flag then this whole series of books is your you. This is the complete collection from over the years and has everything you need to know to survive. Even the "advanced" sections aren't really that advanced, so if you are an actual survivalist this is a waste of time. If you need a amazing foundation and know what you need to "get by" this is what you want.

The Bushcraft Boxed Set: Bushcraft 101; Advanced Bushcraft; The Bushcraft Field Guide to Trapping, Gathering, & Cooking in the Wild; Bushcraft First Aid []  2021-1-7 19:6

The Bushcraft Boxed Set: Bushcraft 101; Advanced Bushcraft; The Bushcraft Field Guide to Trapping, Gathering, & Cooking in the Wild; Bushcraft First Aid []  2021-1-7 19:6

The Complete Guide to Pitching []  2020-1-13 19:24

Amazing book for aspiring pitchers, coaches, or serious fans of the game. Tremendous detail and background written in plain language on a fascinating subject. The deceptive complexity of the seemingly easy art of delivering a range of pitches is a tough subject, but this author covers it entertainingly.

The Complete Guide to Watercolor []  2020-6-18 19:44

I like to collect art books even though I've been painting for years. I never had any formal training and even if I can't use a book someone else might search it useful. This is an ok book but definitely not a complete guide. A complete tutorial in my opinion should have a solid brush section - essential info for watercolor. That is an zone lacking for a lot of fresh artists - how to use the tools. A lot of people begin off with just a couple of brushes and you may not need much more. However a complete tutorial should really not gloss over that. Rather you can see how a brush is created rather than all the various types and how/when to use them.

The Complete Guide to Zoning []  2020-2-1 21:42

I bought this book while studying for a Land Use course in law school. The book provides an extremely practical look at land use that you wouldn't obtain in a traditional text book. It was a amazing introduction to the topic that should be useful for a novice or for a more experienced reader who wants to know more about the subject.

The Complete Guide to Sharpening []  2020-7-13 19:49

So, like many, I'm obsessed with obtaining a quality edge on my chisel and plane irons and have tried a lot of systems. This book has helped me understand the reasoning behind why some of my sharpening outcomes have been less than satisfactory at times. The knowledge from this book will support me to better determine an appropriate way or system for obtaining a amazing edge. My only reservation of five stars comes from the obvious age of this material. The content and theory (why steel reacts, what is amazing steel, definition of quality edge, and metalurgy) are still quite valid. But, the pictures and references to modern day products and systems is dated. The book was produced in mid-nineties. I would love a revision and re-print of the material which considered modern day products. Still - I am quite happy and more than feel the added knowledge gained is worth the investment in time and dollars. Cheers.

The Complete Guide to Zoning []  2020-2-1 21:42

The title is slightly misleading, but what the book actually attempts to do, it does very e book focuses on how developers or property owners can move easily through the zoning process. The author also gives hints to opposition groups seeking to reduce or slay a development project. The book provides a amazing overview of the zoning approval process, and necessary strategies to support things go your e book does not provide much of a history of zoning, or any info on land use or zoning policy. Don't buy it for those purposes. It does some contain a small too much tip perhaps, including how to show yourself professionally and maintain contacts, but at least it's not poor e book is written in a very clear and engaging pedagogical style. I think the style is a slightly condescending at times, but I wasn't reading it for fun. I was reading it to understand how to victory in the zoning process, and for that the book seems perfect.

Best pitching book and CD I have found. The author is very detailed and complete in his descriptions of all phases of the delivery (both physical and mental) and offers really helpful drills to reinforce technique. Although the CD is beautiful short and easy it does a nice job of helping the reader visualize the proper pitching technique and how to execute the drills. My 15-year old son has already learned several really amazing foundational things to correct problems in his delivery. My older son who is no in college will benefit from the very detailed conditioning program and in-season workout routines. As a former littler league coach, I want I had found this book 10 years ago, I can't place it down! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to gain a complete understanding of the fundamentals of pitching.

I've purchased and read a lot of books on pitching. This is by far my favorite. It is written very clearly with detailed photographs which create it very simple to understand. I especially like the section on loading the back hip, and hip-to-shoulder separation. These 2 things are key to increasing velocity, and this books explains it better than any I've seen.
