The only color photo, in the book, is the cover. A primary history of the pellet cooker with not good quality black and white pics. Some recipes and folksy idioms follow. I had always cooked over charcoal but I recently purchased a Pit Boss wood pellet cooker and was looking a cookbook to support me with what temperatures to cook certain foods at, various types of rubs and sauces that I could make, and how long to cook various types of meal on the smoker. This book is has an simple to use index and has everything divided into the particular types of meal you will be cooking. Has the usuals you would expect, as well as various types that you wouldn’t. He lets you know the time, temperature, best type of wood to use to obtain the optimal flavor for the meal you’re cooking, and detailed recipes to support your meal come out e only knock on the book is it doesn’t have pictures of the meal for the particular recipes. That’s not a huge thing, but would have created this excellent to me if it did. Overall a amazing cookbook if you own a wood pellet smoker like myself and need some support with cooking times, temps, and various recipes to try. Highly recommend.
With this book you will not only learn the basics, but you’ll have loads of other recipes and charts to smoke and grill just about anything. Charts even have cooking temps and times for unusual stuff such as cookies, nuts, cheese and android game meats. Simple reference to left of each recipe for temps, times, and ingredients. This is a nice complement to Peter Jautaikis “The Wood Pellet and Grill Cookbook.” West doesn’t provide a lot of pictures, which I prefer as a beginner, but the dozens of recipes and charts makes this book a very worthwhile purchase.
I used this to search primary recipes and cooking times, as I am fresh to the pellet grill and still figuring things out. I found the book helpful, and there are some very interesting recipes, especially in the appetizer section(not something I usually think of grilling). I bought the Kindle edition since I can bring the smartphone or phone wherever I am when cooking, or ping.
After reading amazing reviews I was prepared to be wow'd. Severely disappointed. Large HUGE print, so you're not getting nearly as a lot of recipes as one might expect, and several FULL PAGE notes spaced throughout the book imploring you to leave an Amazon review. Waste of time. Save your cash and Google a recipe.

Amazing explanation of the pellet smoker grill. Lots of hints and also recipes are great. Highly recommend this book. Only negative I [email protected]#$%! had pictures of finished meal on the recipies. There are no meal pictures. Thats the only reason I dropped it down to 4 stars from 5 stars.

The best part of this smoker is I can obtain the same results with less mess and hard work. It's hard to search the various woods I like to use to smoke with, plus when I do there's the work of cut, stacking, and making room for the wood if I'm lucky enough to obtain a amazing supply. The book consists of useful info about the device and amazing dozens of recipes (Pork, Beef, Lamb, Turkey, Poultry, Vegetables, Cheese, Nuts, Desserts, Sauces). Every recipe has info about prep- and cooking time, preffered kind of wood and easy-to-go directions. Recommended for beginners!
The recipes could be used on any other type of smoker but having directions that are specific to an electric model makes starting out a breeze. The recipes we’ve tried so far have been easy but fabulous. The suggestions on what type of wood chips to use with each recipe are particularly helpful and I appreciate that there are some recipes for sauces included even though they aren’t created in the smoker.

Such a amazing cookbook. I am a novice griller and these recipes have gotten me over my fear of not cooking meal properly on the grill. Very interesting flavor combos too, and can translate to kitchen/oven/broiler cooking in the off season. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
So far so good. I have tried several recipes and everything comes out VERY good. I also just use it as a cooking time reference even if I am not following their seasoning and it is very useful. If you dont own a pellet grill, stop waiting and obtain one. these things rock
I bought this as a birthday bonus for a dear mate who had just gotten a smoker. He didn’t really know a lot about smoking and he tells me all the time how much he loves this book! He says it’s the best birthday bonus ever. It has lots of yummy marinade recipes that he has found easy to create and also support with the cooking time aspect of smoking meat which can sometimes be a small daunting. My Husband received a Traeger Smoker for Christmas. He requested this book, and has not been disappointed. It is dog-eared! I know that whenever he has a break in his ER shifts, he will be planning dinner from this book! :) I also highly recommend purchasing Traeger pellets from Amazon - he has tried every dozens so far, simple quick delivery, and a @#$%!&eaper than our local store.

In each chapter there is a chart that shows what temperature to set you smoker and what target you should hit for internal temperature. So in the pork chapter, all that I had to do was look for pork loin in the meat chart, set my smoker. The intro discussed the different wood types and how well they pair with a meat type. Simple as pie. This cook book encouraged me to expand my horizons, and do chicken breasts, pork loins, even a turducken

As books about smoking go, and I have read a few, and I have found this book to be extremely informative and insightful regarding some very sought-after cuts of meat and seafood. Prime rib, Leg of Lamb, Shrimp, to name a few. I cold smoke salmon, according to the instructions in this book. It created for the greatest lox sandwich I ever ate! It is worth the cash spent!

Do you wish a book that you spend more time looking for recipes than cooking? Have you been wanting to practice how to count from 0-188? Then this book is for you. No pages are numbered, so unless you number them yourselves, you obtain to count every single time you look!For some reason the table of contents has page numbers for every recipe... seems moot since if you just listed a bunch of recipes on a page in a random order it’s all the at amazing “choosing the right pellets” on page 29 they recommend... no idea where it is. Count to r favorite recipe you wish your spouse to look up because your hands are covered in raw meat? “Hey it’s on page 84.” Amazing luck finding page honestly might be a amazing book. The recipes might be fantastic. But i’d advise versus buying something that has no reference points where the entire purpose of the book is to go to it, and look different things up.
Haven"t bought a cookbook in years. This one has a amazing front cover and that is where it ends. The text is small, there are a few little black and white images and the layout is about as uninspiring as any I've seen. AND THERE ARE NO PAGE NUMBERS. I'll be ordering a magnifying glass to use this book.

This was the one rub we really wanted to test and were excited about and it is incomplete. There is no contact info for us to contact the authors to obtain the ingredients. That’s what is very disappointing because it is a recipe we cannot execute.
I got this book for my husband for his birthday. We’ve had a Traeger for a few months now and this book was a android game changer! We usually spent forever online and on Pinterest searching for recipes and had a hard time knowing which one to go with. It’s nice to have a single cookbook and reference book to use. There are lots of amazing ideas and a amazing dozens of recipes, from meats to sides to desserts. There’s a amazing mix of items for beginners and more experienced smokers. My husband really appreciates the rubs recipes and refers to that frequently. Some other reviews mentioned no page numbers but our had them. Love this book and highly recommend it for smokers of all skill levels!

Well to be perfectly honest I was a bit disappointed. This book received such amazing reviews, I was expecting at least colourful pictures. Smaller that I thought more like a thick magazine. Hoping some of the recipes create up for it.

This book is advertised showing COLOR PHOTOS throughout the book. They are ALL BLACK/WHITE. There is NO COLOR in this book, except the cover. Recipes are more for a household oven, not a smoker. Disappointed and sending this back.
